Didn't fix the under-warranty issue, but they made sure to fix the issue not under warranty. Then, to avoid their 3% surcharge for credit cards I brought a check, which they wouldn't accept--the same check they gladly accepted when I bought the car! No way am I coming back here. Stores that charge 3% for using a credit card remind me of the liquor store on the corner--it's a low end policy for sketchy establishments. I asked if they would take Venmo. But no, they said--only a debit card! Aren't debit cards for people who can't control their credit card spending? I don't know anyone who uses them. But I know a lot of people who use Venmo. They also didn't bother explaining what they fixed and what they didn't and why--I had to ask, and got a very feeble explanation, and the body language was "you're bothering me at the end of the day, can't you see I'm slouched in my chair chatting with co-workers?" I love Tascalito for anything they can do that doesn't require the dealer to fix. Those guys understand customer service. Audi Marin? It's a money machine, plus 3%! read more

We rarely leave reviews like this, but this experience warrants it. We purchased a vehicle from Marin Audi that was represented as being in excellent, near-flawless condition. That was not the reality. The car was delivered late at night, and only then did it become clear that the paint had significant scratches, swirl marks, and actual gouges--none of which were disclosed during the sale. This was not minor wear. This was obvious, visible damage that should have been transparently communicated. It gets worse. The vehicle required an entire brake job immediately after purchase. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the dealer had installed incorrect rotors and low-quality brake pads. This is not just sloppy--it's a safety issue. To their credit, they did attempt a "detail," but it was rushed and poorly executed, leaving behind heavy swirl marks that made the paint look even worse. As of now: * We have paid out of pocket to fix the brake issue * We are still waiting on any meaningful response regarding reimbursement * The paint condition remains unresolved What's most concerning is that this vehicle was presented as if it had no material issues, when clearly the dealership knew--or should have known--otherwise. Neither the salesperson, Jay, nor the manager, Cooper, has taken meaningful ownership of this situation. At this point, we are requesting: * Reimbursement for the brake repair * A proper, professional paint correction (not another rushed detail) Buyers should proceed with extreme caution. I was greeted by Moses outside at the entrance, he asked for my keys, inquired about my visit and gave me an escort inside, he was great. Nathan was at the counter, he smiled and was really pleasant. He offered me several options for times available, he made me an appointment for the next day at 7a. He was swift about meeting my needs. Service Advisor Amy and Technician Christopher both did a great job getting my car back on the road after being towed in. What I thought was water damage turned out to be something else. Amy kept me in the loop the whole time and Christopher determined what the issue was, and even when above and beyond in doing two wheel alignments and only charging me for one. It's a solid backup plan, even if it's not quite as convenient as having your own wheels. On the sales side, the experience felt less high-pressure than other dealerships in the area. But here's the thing: we've had a lot of issues with our Audi since leasing it, which has me very grateful we didn't buy. Between electronic malfunctions in the infotainment system, faulty sensors, and various other challenges (e.g., recalls), we're dropping the car off for service more than we care to, and it's usually gone for at least two days at a time. The mileage has been nowhere near the posted estimates, which is frustrating when you're planning around a lease. The people here are genuinely good at what they do, and the service experience is top-notch. But the car itself has been a disappointment, and I'm looking forward to turning it in when the lease is up. After completing the purchase I later received the CarFax showing three prior accidents that were not clearly disclosed beforehand. i'm not the average car shopper. I like to buy a gently used car and hang onto it for a very long time. I learned that in Marin most people lease a car for a year or two and turn it in so maybe I'm the problem, and not the car dealership. I don't fit the mold, but I had a very unhappy experience. I went to buy a gently used car. I wanted to trade in both of our daily drivers--they took my car keys to evaluate the car. But they had my car keys for over an hour and a half!my husband, who just got out of over two months in the hospital, was with me because I wanted him to see the car, was slumped down in a chair, looking extremely miserable. I kept saying that I needed to get him home. He wasn't well. My dog was with us because, again I thought we'd only be there a few minutes. She really needed to have a bathroom break, but they weren't respecting any of our pleas to go home. It felt like our car was being held hostage to force us into a deal. All of us were very unhappy and miserable. Obviously nothing about the car that I was trading in changed over the hour and a half plus that we were being held captive. I was ready to call an Uber just to get home and he told us that not only was our car not a likely trade in Canada. Either of our cars likely trade in candidate but they would have to charge us $2500 per car just to take them. This was the opposite of what we've heard across the street at another car dealership! To Get my car keys back, I finally agreed to let him come and pick me up at the house in the morning, along with all the cars just to get to go home and then I canceled the next morning because I knew I'd be held hostage here forever until I signed a contract which of course showed up early in my mailbox. We discussed the vehicle, my requirements, and negotiated a deal over several messages. After some back and forth, we agreed on the terms, and he confirmed everything was set. We scheduled a time for me to come in, sign, and pick up the car. I later reached out to see if I could come a day earlier. That's when the story changed. Out of nowhere, I was told, "Oh, sorry, I made a mistake - the car was sold." Suddenly, the only option was a more expensive car, and the tone shifted into the classic car salesman's nonsense. Excuses about miscommunication with the manager, unclear internal processes - nothing made sense. This is not how you do business. My family has been repeat customers at Audi Marin since 2008. We spoke with Paul about selling our 2018 Audi SQ5, which has only 24,000 miles and is in great condition. We sent photos and answered several questions. He shared an offer for the car and told us that the process of selling it would be quick - that the process would take about an hour. We made an appointment and my husband brought the car in at the scheduled time. When he arrived, Paul immediately said they would have to do an inspection at the service dept which was not disclosed to us. The potential cost was about $300 and the service dept did not have any availability at that time. He said we would have to pay for the inspection if we did not come to any agreement. We wouldn't have brought the car in had we known that we needed to possibly pay for an inspection which should have been covered by the dealership given the purpose was for their own due diligence. My husband said that he did not want to pay for the inspection. Paul said that he was working on a backup solution. They took the car away. My husband waited for 3 hours, thinking he was waiting for it to go into service for him to inspect it. Turns out they were never going to look at the car, and Paul was submitting the car to CarMax for an estimate. We made it very clear multiple times on the phone before we ever met in person that we didn't want to waste our time or theirs. We had what Paul communicated was a deal. Our time was wasted. It felt like they were playing games and making an excuse to get out of an offer that they had communicated to us previously. If a service and inspection at potentially our cost is a requirement, this should be communicated beforehand. It should have been scheduled for when we had our appointment. The time wasted and the unprofessional conduct has tainted what was once a longstanding, good relationship across many years. We know we will have several more Audi's in our future, but not from Audi Marin. I would recommend taking your business elsewhere. read more

We have a leased Audi Q4 e-tron. that has a malfunctioning charging system. It is not charging on DC fast chargers and sometimes will not charge at our home AC charger. This Audi is our 5th electric car, and we have had it for well over a year now, so this is not a case of user error. When the malfunctioning occurs, there is an error message on the dahboard display that says, in effect - Charging error, call service. Initially, we were able to schedule a service with a loaner car. They kept it for a week and returned it saying they saw the error in the error log but could not replicate it so did not fix it. A week later, the charging error started again. We have been calling them for a reservice for 2 weeks now. When we call them, the person that answers the phone can not schedule a loaner car. They TRY to transfer you, which never works, then promise a callback from the loaner service desk. They NEVER call back. We have tried to escalate and can't get a real person at the loaner desk or at Marin Audi Service Department. As we are posting this review, we are still unable to schedule a service appointment. Hopefully posting a negative review on Yelp will help them to improve their attention to this customer service issue! If they care. read more

Service Department incompetent from top to bottom. Audi of Marin issued a $13,765.84 diagnostic so off the rails it mislead another competent mechanic until the actual issue was corrected at 1/10th the price. I brought in my 2014 R8 convertible with a top that wouldn't operate at 17k miles. I clearly described per the owners manual I had locked the top up with 2 vehicle provided plastic blocks bolted into the mechanism, and stored two open top trim mechanisms in the front trunk. After the first week, I was told there were parts missing, which turned out to be the trim above. I repeated my description. After two more weeks, I was given the repair price above. I was told without any documentation the entire roof mechanism had been tested, but the roof would not operate. Audi said the pump and valve block needed replacing, another month. I took the car to my independent mechanic. After a documented recheck of the components, he found the locking blocks were still in place. He removed them, cleared the code, and the top worked perfectly. The computer had become confused and shut down the roof because I flubbed the open/close switch back and forth while the battery was failing with low voltage. Battery replaced, issue resolved. Yep, Audi had never taken the locking blocks out. I explained this incredible failure in detail to the Service Adviser and demanded my money back. After another month, the Service Manager replied he understood my position, but still felt his department had earned the diagnostic fee. Now, I'm insulted. Dealerships get to charge big bucks because this is their vehicle and they are supposed to know what they are doing. This service department didn't know the car or it's emergency process, miscommunicated critical information multiple times, and issued a diagnosis that was dead wrong. Everyone makes mistakes. How far do they have to blow it to admit they failed to serve me? You have better options. read more

Not only did he know many details about the car, but his approach was not a hard sell. It was clear he wanted to sell us the car, but he was extremely professional, and humorous at times. I normally HATE going to car dealerships, but now that Audi Marin is part of the Indigo Group, the service is top notch. I previously did not have a good experience with the sales team many years ago. Just a bad service experience. Needed a simple oil top off. Usually no problem at any other dealer. Today Audi Marin started by adding some oil on visit #1. Didnt realize they didn't top it off (still down almost a quarter) until I checked oil level an hour later. Went back for visit #2 to ask for a complete top off and after 10+ minutes service person said it was not possible to get a second top off today. Was directed to parts desk where I could buy a quart to add myself. Fine...but that conversation started with "what's your VIN number?" Really? For a quart of oil? Left without getting what I needed. I brought in my 2014 Audi Q5 with 160K miles to service a coolant leak. The coolant reservoir would empty over a period of 2-3 weeks with the leak. I did some looking around and noticed that the hose was leaking from the coolant reservoir. I asked them to fix/replace the hose which was leaking. The service person said I was also overdue for my 145K mile service which I agreed to. They gave me an estimate of $1300. Seemed like a lot, but begrudgingly agreed to it because I was including the big service & needed the car running safely for my daughter. The service department called me with an estimate of over $20,000 for additional fixes needed... replacing bushings, wiper blades, etc... Kelly Blue Book has estimated the trade in value of my car at $3900. Then the service girl said actually, it is recommended that they "re-seal" the engine which was not included in the $20K estimate. That would be an additional $30,000. Are you kidding me!? You are recommending that I spend $50,000 to fix an 11-year old car that has a book value of $3900!? I declined all of the additional recommendations. They said, well there is an additional coolant leak due to a shut off valve. This was going to cost $5300 to replace this part to solve the coolant leak. Doing the math, it is going to be far more cost effective to buy the necessary coolant to fill every couple of weeks for $15 rather than spending an additional $5300 to repair the leak in a $3900 car. We went to pick up the car and was informed while paying the $1300 invoice that there is now a 3% charge if I use my credit card. Seriously!? When did this change??? I have spent $1000's getting my car serviced here over the years and had been generally happy. It's always been expensive, but it seems that something has changed over there. My daughter got in the car, started it to drive it home. The low coolant warning red light came on immediately. My daughter went back into the service department to ask them to fill the coolant as you would expect for $1300 service. The service woman was rude to her and said we told your dad that if he didn't fix the shut off valve ($5300) then the leak would persist and basically refused to top off the coolant. Keep in mind that before I brought the car in, the coolant would last 2-3 weeks before a warning light would come on. Now after the "fix", the leak was so bad that the coolant was empty in less than 24 hours. So not only was I basically charged $1300 + 3% for using my credit card for tightening a hose & a service that included an oil change and a point inspection which I could have gotten anywhere else for less than 1/2 the cost, but now my leak is worse than it was when I brought the car in to begin with. Can't express enough how poor an experience this has been. Again, I have spent $1000's with Audi Marin Service in the past. Something has clearly changed and not in a good way! read more

After the VW side of the Indigo dealership foisted a stolen vehicle on me and I posted the 1-star review about that, Audi Marin offered to fix one of the issues caused by the theft. Thieves tend to drive stolen vehicles very aggressively, and this car showed the signs of that type of driving: control arms and cv joints in need of replacement at barely 60k miles. That alone would be at least $10k if done at the dealership. I was aware of the rear control arms leaking, but thought it was just one of the front cv joints that needed to be replaced and I accepted their offer to do it at no charge in their attempt to smooth over the transaction (I should say, in their attempt to coerce me into taking down my negative reviews). When I picked up the car, they said there was an oil leak and quoted about $3.5k to fix it. The service advisor played a video on his phone that showed an engine running and oil spilling out and burning off. Well, that does look pretty bad! Except later when I investigated it further, I couldn't find that video. THAT video hadn't been added to my service record. Only the video from the mechanic that showed not at oil "leak" in dire need of being fixed, as I was led to believe, but a tiny amount of oil "seepage" around the valve cover/engine cradle that is typical of these cars. The gasket is a silicone sealant that fails over time. The job to fix it is really straightforward: remove a bunch of bolts, clean off the old oil and silcone, put new silcone down, replace the bolts, Bob's your uncle. Easy peasy. Takes maybe 10 hours, and that's generous. No parts necessary. That's maybe $1,500 if you're paying Audi techs $150/hour. But of course they want $3500 for it. I get the car home and then it sits for a day or two. Then I realize it's driving like crap. It's herky-jerky in the tiptronic manual low gears on accelerating and braking and idling rough. I pop the hood and it turns out they overfilled it with oil by a longshot. My aftermarket dipstick's max marker isn't necessarily the max for a Q5, but the oil was half an inch above the inset area of the dipstick where the oil is supposed to collect. It was literally off the chart. Then I look further and the timing chain case is leaking. I inspect the work on the front passenger cv joint and that's when I realize that the driver side cv boot is torn and had never been fixed, it just happened long enough ago that that fluid is all dried up so I never noticed it. I couldn't take it anymore, dealing with these crooks and this lemon, so I traded it in. But I told the dealership about the issues and my experience. You might ask me why I told them about that, despite it being disadvantageous to my purposes. The answer is simple: I am an honest person with integrity and not a crook or a thief or a scammer. Only a dishonest person with no personal integrity who is a crook, thief, or scammer would sell a car to someone without disclosing those issues. read more

This review is long overdue, but alas I am writing it now because as I look back at my car buying journey, this dealership left a horrible taste in my mouth. I was in the market to buy my first car and I found the car I wanted at this dealership. I traveled from oakland on a Friday to test drive it and when I first arrived, it was unclear how to enter the building. My partner and I took about 5 minutes to find the correct entrance and when we did we were hanging out on the main floor waiting for someone to help out but no one came so we had to go into the area where we heard people congregating so we could ask for the person that we had an appointment with. We test drove the car and loved it! So we began the buying process, I already had $0 down loan funding through my bank and once they learned this, they were pretty adamant about letting me know that if my check didn't arrive in the mail in a timely manner that someone could come in and purchase the car and make my whole buying process null and void. Knowing this, that same day I sent the dealership all the documents and info that they would need to sign and fill out so that my bank could get the check together but they filled the documents out wrong and wasted precious time fixing it which drew out my buying process by a couple of days. We finally finalized everything and the check was to be sent out and received by the next day. but while the check was being sent, another employee sold the car to someone else! There was no communication internally around my process of buying the car even though we had filled out paperwork and were awaiting the check, so even though I was warned this would happen, I felt like they made a lot of mistakes and dragged their feet in getting the paperwork done. Im convinced that had this not happened, the check would've arrived sooner and I would've been the one driving that car off the lot. I ended up getting my car from another dealership and they had no issues with waiting on the check and processing my purchase. Had oil pan leak fixed under warranty, not even a year oil pan leaking again. Called to see if they guaranteed the work, Amy said yes and to bring it in. I brought it in, they charged me to diagnose the leak (I already diagnosed the issue for them) telling me they would refund the fee if they honored the warranty. They told me they wouldn't honor their work. So they billed me $300 and did nothing. To Amy, next time a customer calls and asks if something is under warranty to fix tell them yes or no over the phone. Don't lie or lead the customer to believe you are going to fix it. Horrible business practice. I will not be returning and I highly recommend you reading this do not go here. read more
