I had a 3-year Tiguan lease, paid on time, and turned it in on time. About 2 months later I was getting notices that the car was not turned in and payments were due. In the meantime I happily purchased a car from Carvana and was happily driving an ID4. After calling VW Marin repeatedly and 6 months of back-and-forth I learned the dealership had not turned in the paperwork to VW financial. The representative said - "they sometimes forget to do that." Unbelievable that I took care of my responsibilities of paying for the car but that they wouldn't acknowledge having the car on their property for 6 months. And then the bill came. Terrible experience. I do NOT recommend this dealership or location for Volkswagen service. If you're buying a new car, look elsewhere--you could waste your money and time. I purchased a 2024 Volkswagen Jetta from this dealership and purchased the extended warranty. The day after getting the car, I noticed a noise coming from the brakes. When I brought it in, I was told the noise was "normal in new cars" without a proper inspection. The sound persisted, and when I returned for maintenance, I was told the brakes needed to be replaced--but this is not covered under the extended warranty. Additionally, the driver-side window makes a noise when lowering it (from day 1). I asked the maintenance team to check it, but they wrote that I declined the necessary disassembly without even contacting me to explain that it was required to fix it. I ended up taking the car back in the same condition I brought it in. Overall, my experience has been very poor. I would not recommend VW as a brand, particularly service at this location to friends or anyone considering a Volkswagen. If you are thinking of buying, I suggest looking at other brands or dealerships--you risk wasting both your money and time. Very disappointed with the service at this dealership. I recently purchased a part for my Volkswagen and provided full vehicle details, including the VIN number. Despite this, I was given the wrong part that didn't fit my car. I had to drive across the bridge twice to try to exchange it. On the second trip--during posted business hours--a manager told me the parts department was closed and I'd have to come back on Monday. No help, no apology. Just wasted time, fuel, and frustration. Even worse, I had an issue with my exhaust system, which was clearly leaking and under warranty. Before replacing the part, they charged me $300 for an inspection, claiming they weren't sure it would be covered. Once it was confirmed under warranty and the part was replaced, they refused to refund the $300. Just endless phone messages and conversations that went nowhere--"blah blah blah"--stalling, avoiding, trying to shut the conversation down without resolving anything. No apology. No accountability. Just messing around and refusing to take responsibility. That whole situation wasted even more of my time--hours spent trying to get a simple part replaced under warranty. It's clear they don't care about your time, your money, or you. By the way, this is a Volkswagen and Audi dealership--and it's the same people running both. Be very careful dealing with this place. The same staff that pretends to be helpful when you're buying a car might treat you completely differently once you've signed. After that, you're just a target for upcharges, misinformation, and poor communication. I've seen a pattern here: mistakes, lies, and manipulation. This isn't my first Volkswagen--but it will absolutely be my last. I've dealt with multiple VW dealerships, and the behavior is always the same: shady charges, misleading communication, and no accountability. It feels like a culture, not just a one-time mistake. Same tricks, same treatment, same company attitude. There seems to be no effort to improve. Now compare that to my experience at O'Reilly Auto Parts. I walked into the store, gave them just the year, make, and model of my car--no VIN required--and in less than two minutes, I had the correct part for a lower price. Thank you to the professionals at O'Reilly for showing what real customer service looks like. Word of advice: Always double-check the parts they give you at the dealership. Seriously--Google the part yourself and compare it to what they bring out. You basically have to know more than the people who work there, even if they've been doing it for years. TL/DR version: quasi-criminal operation, foisted stolen vehicle with extensive repairs necessary on me, total lemon, beware and stay away. I went in to buy a Q3. It had a musty odor and I decided to see what else they had available. Always wondered what the Q5 was like so decided to test one out. Cool, I like it. I ask them to crunch numbers for both cars. They come back with numbers for the Q5 only. I ask them again to show me the numbers for both. They do a hard sell for the Q5, "well you like the Q5 so much, why do both?" Ok, fine, it's at the top of the budget I prepared but it works, let's move forward. So I sign the agreement. That's when they tell me it's been stolen. I'm annoyed but it's late, I'm exhausted, I have a lot on my plate and I'm stressed, I don't want a new car, I need a new car, fine, let's move forward. I get the car home and over the next few months I discover it has the top 2 issues with the Q5 that haven't been addressed: a rattling sunroof and a faulty PCV valve. I'm able to fix these myself, but the dealership writes me here and offers to "make things right." As I'm asking "how?" even more issues come up. The plates aren't on record with the DMV, so it was never properly registered. The front passenger side cv boot is torn, needs to be replaced along with the axle. The rear control arms need replacement. An oil leak needs to be fixed. I bought the car for $17k. To fix all of the problems it has, the problems it HAD ON THE DAY I BOUGHT IT, would add at least another $16k to the price. It would DOUBLE the price of the car. This car should have never been sold in this condition in the first place. I am livid with this place and I warn anyone even remotely considering purchasing a vehicle here to STAY AWAY. read more

I have a ID.4 2023 that has been at the Service Repair shop over 6 times since I bought this car. It is all Warranty and recall issues. The locks and handles, as well as the screen, still do not work; they were never able to fix the screen or the locking mechanism on my charge door. I once got my car stuck in the parking lot for 30 minutes trying to unlock my vehicle to disengage the port. Every problem was always someone else's issue. It's the phone, it's the charging station; we can't fix it until we see what is happening in the shop, after they asked me for videos to show them the problem. The response is that we can't see the issue, so we can't fix it. I let them know I needed my car over the weekend and was told that the keys were not left with the weekend showroom people, as it's no longer policy. Why is that? I had no money attached to my invoice, and it was signed. So, you have had my car all week, and you don't have the common courtesy to ensure I am not left without a car all weekend. I am a single mom without a car. It was already hard for me to get to work all week without a car. There is absolutely no customer service at the VW dealership. Don't bother unless you want a significant headache. read more

I just had to pay $3500 because I have a GTI engine and they all fail about 70,000 miles. Why would I buy another VW? The GTI engines have been designed the same way since 2009. They decided never to fix it and instead, make people pay this huge price. I got a three year 80,000 mile warranty. However, it was five years before I got to 75,000 miles. Don't ever buy a Volkswagen. They have no care about you. We talked to our friend who said he quit working for them because he was a sales person, but all he did was refer people to the shop. read more

I've always been fond of saying that stereotypes exist for a reason . . . and I'm sure you can discern where this review is going. Car salespeople have a well-deserved reputation for being less than forthright, and today's experience did nothing to lessen that reputation. IOW, these guys are lying sacks of elephant dung! I called two days prior to hammer out the details of a lease for an ID.4 EV. The Standard model was no longer available, so Raul offered the Pro model at the same down-payment price and only $40 more/monthly, and he promised a model in dark blue. This seemed to good to be true, so I asked him THREE separate times to repeat the terms and turned on the phone speaker, so that my wife could listen and verify. We went earlier today to get our new car. . . . I was so excited. Of course, once we arrived, we were quoted a down-payment amount that was 70% greater and monthly payments that were 100% more than what was promised. And of course, the only available color was white. When challenged, the sales rep did his usual spiel, "Let me speak to my manager and see what we can do". He returned to feed more drivel: "This deal is only for you, so don't tell anyone." I honestly believed that cheesy sales cliches were a thing of the past, but I guess it pays to take advantage of the lowest common denominator. While the new offer slightly reduced the monthly payment (it was only 67% greater than what was promised), it actually RAISED the down payment by 7%! Really? I can't even begin to describe how insulted I was. I then summoned my inner Sterling Archer and replied, "Eat a bag of detectives"! Enough said, Marin VW & Raul employed a classic bait-and-switch technique to get me to visit the dealership. I have to pay for my toll !!! You need that eight dollars that bad ?? You're getting my business. It took a week to get a loaner my daughter was limited on how far she could drive because they claimed they didn't have a loaner and couldn't get one sooner. But they finished repairing the car in two days. But they couldn't get a loaner for a week for my daughter. This is Marin people need I say more. The color of our skin (BLACK) didn't put us as a priority and we need to have a credit card on file for one of their loaners. Alma is telling me it's just like a rental car. "BS" my daughter gave them her debit card Rental Companies take debit cards now Like I said this was the worst experience ever. I have been taking my Tiguan to this place for a number of years now. So I go in for a usual service, including new wipers. The mechanic put on a pair of wipers that were TOO LONG for the windshield. I mean, a monkey could have done a better job. That then caused damage to the side of the windshield. They replaced that and gave me a loaner to use in the meantime. Then I use the car for 5 days, and a giant crack just appears on the side of the windshield that was ruined by the wipers. So they then replace that. So I look at my credit card bill yesterday, and there are 2 surprise charges from VW Marin, one for $500 and one for $48. I NEVER GAVE THEM A CREDIT CARD TO USE. They somehow used my card to charge me (WITHOUT TELLING ME) for 2 rims that were supposedly ruined on the loaner, and then gas (at a whopping $8.25 a gallon!? Are you f**king kidding me?). I never signed a contract, and never gave them a credit card. They must have had a card on file for me from a previous charge. As far as I know, NO BUSINESSES STORE CREDIT CARD NUMBERS, but they must have. And then without telling me they charge me $548. They did reverse the $500, but I am in absolute shock that ANY business would just randomly charge a credit card without having permission to use it AND without telling the customer. I'm going back to Royal Automotive in SF. I truly feel as though I have been robbed. And then let's go back to the wiper situation. My 12 year old could have done a better job! AVOID!!! read more

Apparently that's not serious enough for some sales people. I could spend a lot of time on the bad experiences. So let me cut to the chase. Marin VW was responsive, courteous, interested and cared about getting my business from 1st contact. If you want no nonsense / no BS just straight up good direct customer service then you have it here with Marin. Our advisor Jay is my kind of guy. He listened and got me what I wanted right away. We even negotiating down on price and it was a breeze. When the car we wanted wasn't available Jay arranged for a driver to specially pick one up from the port all in a day! Jay knows his cars and knows his customers needs. He doesn't play games. Even completing paper work with Xavi in finance was painless. Long story short the future is NOT Tesla. There is life left in doing business the old fashioned way and it can be enjoyable and worth it. You just have to make effort to seek it out. I'm not sure if it's the dealership or just the vehicle specifically but I have a vehicle that is a challenge. Every few days it's electronic system does not work as intended. I've been locked in the vehicle. It has has turned off in the intersection for no obvious reason., the dash and the entertainment display have gone completely dark for half a minute, the key fob has worked incorrectly. I doubt I can blame this on the dealership however I've not had much support from the dealership about resolving the issues. Salesman was pleasant, but not complete in educating vehicle... indicated I should read the manual or make an appointment with service. When returning with service, the first person I spoke with was condescending. My last several experiences have been pleasant, but not resolving my issues. So you can see it's more about the vehicle than the dealership. I'm not sure what I'm gonna do and I'm not sure I have a recommendation for you. read more

I will say that Jay Dhillon, the sales consultant, was wonderful and deserves 3 to 5 stars for his service. However, his colleague, Jesse Leeman, and the management at this dealer are not worth your time and effort. We contacted Jay over a month ago via sales program through our bank about a pre-owned vehicle listed at their dealer. Jay was friendly, professional, and open about working with us to secure a better deal on the vehicle we liked. Fast forward 1.5 months later, my husband and I decide to go through with an auto loan through our bank. Jay was not available at the time my husband called so Jesse answered on behalf of Jay. My husband told Jesse that we were ready to buy the car and asked for a break down of the fees and charges. My husband asked about declining the optional paint guard treatment that this particular dealer uses on all their cars. Jesse suddenly got pushy and said that it was not optional (it's listed on the dealer page as optional) even though we had mentioned to Jay about declining this feature and Jay had said that he would try to accommodate us. My husband called out Jesse about this suddenly no longer optional feature. Flustered at my husband calling him out, Jesse waveringly said that he would check with management and see what he could do. Since our bank is on the East Coast and it was after 5 pm for us, my husband said that he needed to know if this could be done as soon as possible otherwise we would renege on buying this car if our bank didn't approve the extra fees or pricing. Jesse immediately said after we mentioned this, "Oh, there an appointment to buy this car later" today. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that Jesse wasn't telling the truth. Why didn't he say this at the start of the conversation? Rather convenient to say this after being called out. Anyway, Jesse said that he would call back in 1/2 an hour and let us know. Jesse didn't call back in 1/2 an hour. We had to call back 40 minutes later. He saw the caller id and triumphantly answered sounding like Alvin from Alvin & the Chipmunks on uppers, "it's sold!" Not believing Jesse, I put in an inquiry on their website under my contact information and not my husband's. Jay had called me back less than five minutes later and told me that the car was available and that I could negotiate the optional paint treatments. I later called back Jay and told him about the poor service we received from Jesse. Jay said that he would try to smooth things over. Jay called me back two hours later and said in the most defeated tone that the car was in fact sold. However, the car is still listed on their website and I know that Jay tried to reason with the management but the management could not lose face over the fast one that Jesse tried to pull. After this incident, I would trust swimming in a piranha infested river with an open wound over working with this dealership. They proved to me that ego and protecting a smarmy, lying, rude, fragile young man like Jesse is their priority over selling cars. read more

Took 24 hours to hear back and they didnt even have the answer to my question. So another 24 hours pass but too late because I already made an appt elsewhere. Ended up I needed brakes, alignment, 2 new tires so sorry VW - your loss. A month ago I ordered touch up paint. Took a long time but finally got a vm telling me it was in. Waited a few weeks to pick it up, was but worried if I didnt pick it up soon they would give it away. So drove 20 mins in pouring rain, wait 15 for them to go fetch it, they then tell me they had tested it at an earlier date and it was all dried up so it would be another month. He said if I could have a seat they would see if Audi had one. Waited 10 more minutes and was fed up, asked him why if they found an issue they didnt call me so I didnt make the trip in the pouring rain. Had no answer.
