Review for Audi Marin- San Rafael For over 10 years, my family and I have been loyal customers of Audi San Rafael, purchasing more than seven vehicles and always servicing them at their center. However, my recent experience has completely shattered my trust in this dealership. On December 27, 2024, I visited the dealership to inquire about a new Q8. After spending two hours discussing my trade-in and reviewing numbers, I decided to return the following day to finalize the process. The next morning, I spoke with the finance manager, Leo, who presented what seemed like a promising deal, so I made the trip back. Unfortunately, what followed was one of the most frustrating, unethical, and discriminatory experiences I've ever had. Upon my arrival, I was kept waiting for an extended period, only to be presented with a completely different deal than what was discussed--a blatant bait-and-switch tactic. Despite my frustration, the salesperson assured me they would work on a better deal given my history as a loyal customer. While waiting, I came across an SQ8 on the lot and asked for payment options on that model. After another long delay, I was told that financing for the $86,000 Q8 had been denied by Golden 1 CU, Redwood CU, and Audi Financial--but oddly, the $130,000 SQ8 was approved. This made no sense, and it became clear they were trying to push me into a more expensive car under unfavorable terms. Frustrated, I left and went to Audi Napa Valley, where I had an amazing experience. The team there informed me that I had been approved for the Q8 all along and that the claims made by the San Rafael team were outright lies. The difference in professionalism and integrity between the two dealerships was night and day. I will never return to Audi San Rafael. Their management, finance team (Yuvraaj Mandra, and Leo Silva), and sales staff (Jason Arnold) are untrustworthy and employ unethical tactics to force sales. Save yourself the frustration and go to Audi Napa Valley instead--they're honest, professional, and genuinely care about their customers. Avoid Audi Marin- San Rafael at all costs. read more

I have dealt with a HORRIBLE experience with Audi Marin for a couple of years now, stayed quiet out of courtesy and goodwill since I had 3 Audis in the past, even though they could not help with a 100% lemon under warranty. Months have gone by and I thought the nightmare was over until... I got a credit card fraud alert citing a charge for $500 from Audi Marin. AFTER the unauthorized charge went through, I received a text stating 'here's your receipt' with a charge for 'deductible' for $500 that they charged on the 'card on file' even though it was not authorized. It's a long story involving 2 years of battling over a vehicle under warranty they were incapable of fixing, months of no loaners, then a loaner sometimes, until finally they had had my 60k vehicle I saved for forever more days of the years than not. I was hit in the Costco parking lot and they filed it as a 'total loss' - so first, do NOT buy a new Audi for safety and second, don't trust them to not lie to the insurance companies. Terrible communication! I called to make a service appointment. Since I have a newborn I called a week prior to the actual appointment to again confirm the duration, and they assured me that it will be 2h. I arrived the day off, and they said they will need my car for the entire day. They didn't offer any rides to take me home with my baby. read more

I love my car. The dealership is trash First time I brought my car into the dealership for a rattling noise and I was told that there were not enough technicians. No call before I came in and I drove from Santa Rosa. I thought it was a one off with COVID and all so no harm. Second time There were enough technicians, but one of the service desk employees drove my car into the back of another. The whole front end had to be replaced. Third time I came in to return the loaner and pick up my car after damage repair. More on that later. Fourth time I came in for an inspection due light, child safety lock malfunction, lift gate falling and a minor coolant leak. (Probably from the radiator after being plowed into another car by an employee.) Guess what? Not enough technicians again and again no call to give me a heads up. I was missing work and school and could not afford to miss another day so I agreed to come in at opening and there would be a loaner for me. Fifth time I drove in early from Santa Rosa and much to my chagrin there is no loaner for me. So, I had to wait, and miss work and school. Once I did get my car back, the child safety lock issue required a part, (I was supposed to get a call when it came in and shocking, no call) NOTHING was done about the lift gate or the coolant leak, and I drove out of the parking lot before the inspection due light came on AGAIN! Either it wasn't done, or wasn't reset. Sixth time I came back for the lift gate and child safety lock. I called multiple times to make sure all the parts were there and that my expectation was to have my car fixed that day. Even called before I left Santa Rosa to make sure there were enough technicians... to my surprise there were. I also called, talked to Katie, and said I do NOT want to work with Gene. One, he wrecked my car, and two, he didn't fix the issues I brought the car in for. Katie told me I could work with Amy. What happens when I show up? The front desk tried to stick me with Gene. No dice. So they stuck me with Gary. Well... I was told issues couldn't be fixed by close and I had to find a ride home. The next day I get a call from Gary to tell me THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH TECHNICIANS. I'm not sure if that's a blanket bullshit response or real, but either they are scheduling too many vehicles, they don't have enough techs, or someone needs to be fired because they can't show up regularly. So I didn't get my car back until the third day. Here's where it gets more interesting. I had a slow leak on my drivers side rear tire before my sixth appointment. It didn't take more than a day for it to be completely flat. Audi Marin had my car from 1 PM in Monday until 2:30 PM on Wednesday. That means the tire would have been flat. That means the techs pumped up the tire, didn't say anything about it, and gave me my car back without repair. I'm pretty sure that's illegal in the state of California. Needless to say, I am currently trying to find an attorney to recoup the depreciation from Gene wrecking my car, lost work and wages, and blatant negligent behavior, especially related to safety, from the staff. Wish I could give the dealer zero stars. Still love my car though. read more

We were helped by Mo, who I have to say is a stand up guy, very professional and courteous when it comes to dealing with people in sales. Why? Cause I know I'm not easy. He brought the car to us, let my wife take it for a spin, then we came back and we looked at some things that needed rectifying, nothing major. We talked out numbers came to an agreement and got the paperwork started. Very meticulous guy, pays attention to detail and made sure the wife was happy. When everything was said and done and the car was handed to us, the things that were pointed had been taken care of, fully, not just half assed. An update to my review from 7/26/2023: A year later, and the title was still not cleared! The error? Audi of Marin listed it as a gas vehicle instead of an EV. This whole time, I've been driving it around on license plates that DMV sent but has since removed from their system because the title never went through. So now, when I go into DMV to try to renew my registration, DMV has no record of this car. I can't even transfer the title. It has taken me ages to sort this out, and since DMV doesn't allow appointments for anything but a driver's test now, and since they are not open weekends, I now have to go down to DMV at the crack of dawn on a workday and try to get this mess sorted, all because Audi of Marin did a sloppy job on this sale. I took my Audi to Audi Marin for a safety recall which I had waited months for to arrive. In making the service appointment, I requested a loaner car, which was never a problem in the past. The staff at Audi Marin confirmed that a loaner car would be available, but on the day of my appointment, I was told that none were available. Audi Marin then sent me to Enterprise to rent a car for myself. As I was leaving, I noticed that there were at least six loaner cars parked in the back driveway of Audi Marin, which made me wonder why I was not offered one of them. I am not sure if the dealership is trying to cut costs, but I did not receive the level of service that I had come to expect from them and wasn't given a satisfactory explanation when I asked about the loaner cars in the back driveway. read more

Avoid this dealership at all costs. I purchased a vehicle from them and they were shady, uncommunicative, and disrespectful through the entire process. After I came back from taking the car in for a pre purchase inspection, they had silently raised the listing price of the vehicle by several hundred dollars as well as updating the price on their website in an effort to sneakily squeeze out extra money. When negotiating the sale of the vehicle, they did something similar by countering my offer with a price that was even higher than we had initially verbally agreed to. That should have been enough for me to walk out, but I ignored it because I wanted the car. The worst part though was that during negotiation they agreed to disable their Stargard tracking system on the vehicle as I did not want it, and take the price they wanted for the system ($995) off the sale price. This was not only offered by the salesman Mohd but also approved by the manager Mo. So they took the car to their service department and disabled the system, but when signing the paperwork for the sale their finance guy Emad Burjak had included the $995 price of the system in the paperwork anyway. I did not notice this as he was rushing us through the paperwork since it was close to closing time, and I didn't think to double check it because it had been a major point of negotiation already and had been verbally promised by both the salesman and the manager. When I finally noticed about a week later, I emailed them and they agreed to refund me the $995, saying it would take about 6 weeks. 2 months came and went and I hadn't received anything so I reached out again, and they ignored my email. For the next 20 weeks, I had to send over a dozen emails, and each time they would ignore the email until I emailed them a second time and usually I would not get a response for about 2 weeks, after which they would make some excuse and promise that the refund was on its way. After 20 weeks, I was prepared to take the issue to small claims court and it was not until after I told them I would be taking legal action that they finally sent the refund. I believe the dealership intentionally included the $995 charge (for a system they'd already disabled) on the paperwork hoping I would not notice it, and then intentionally failed to send the refund and ignored my emails hoping I would give up, so that they could essentially steal the $995. They are dishonest and should not be considered a reputable dealer. read more

Buying a new car is a notoriously frustrating and stressful experience. I've only ever done it once before my visit to Audi Marin and that first experience (a pre-owned BMW that I got six years before) really left me gun-shy and indecisive. But time likes nothing more than change and my needs these days are totally different. Sometimes you just gotta nut up and make a change. I gave Audi Marin a shot and from the moment I stepped into the showroom I felt comfortable, welcomed and respected by the team. I worked with Ricky to figure out the right car for me. I told him that my newfound parent status meant I needed something big, but not too big. I wanted something fast and sporty but was willing to sacrifice some horsepower for the right fit. We test drove and talked and I could tell that even though he'd helped dozens of guys like me in the past, he was listening intently. This was not the experience I expected. We talked numbers in a way that I could understand. I told him my budget and we worked toward that. There was zero pressure but we acknowledged that my trade in was decreasing in value every day and that there were deals I could take advantage of that would expire in time. I drove off the lot in my bimmer with a lot to think about. The next day, the brake pad lights went off. Two days later, I was dropping the cash I had put aside for the lease deposit on new brakes. Yikes. I let them know what had happened and told them that I would just have to forget about a new ride. Ricky said he understood and would be there if I changed my mind. I resigned myself to hanging on to my BMW for the foreseeable future. After all, it had new brakes. Whatever. It's still a nice car. But then I got a call from Nathan, the manager at Audi Marin. He had spoken to Ricky and took it upon himself to see if he could work with the numbers. He sent me another quote that I couldn't ignore and we decided that we'd find a way to make it work. A couple days later, someone hit my passenger side door in a parking lot. It was the universe telling me that my time with my very first car was coming to an end. I let the Audi guys know that I was in but all sorts of stuff was happening to the car. Their response: no problem, it won't affect much anything. From the get-go I felt that Ricky and the guys at Audi Marin wanted me as a customer. I can't say the same about some other German car dealerships in the area. In the past I've stepped onto showroom floors and sat across from sales folk and could tell that they had zero interest in helping me. But even with some negotiation, new dents and brakes, I felt that the guys at Audi were determined to have me as a client. That goes a long, long way for me. So now, I'm rolling around in my brand new Q3, my baby in the back seat and my lady beside me, feeling extra good about the experience. This was my 5th overall experience at Marin Audi (Previously Sonnen) and though there were some bumps I would say it was the best experience. We have purchased two cars in the past from this dealer, and have owned a total of 6 Audis. In the past, the experiences at Sonnen Audi were sub-par. It just always seemed that as a consumer I was just never a priority, ironic right? Considering they are in the sales business. Because of this I had not set foot on the lot in over 4 years, and owned BMW's. I decided to give Audi Marin a chance as I know they are under new management and the location had a major overhaul. First, the new building is amazing! The showroom and overall presentation is very impressive. Due to the COVID situation, I called in advance and provided copies of my driver's license and insurance per their request, which I appreciated to minimize contact. The dealer had a car I was interested in I was still able to come by and test drive the car which was great. I was interested in a 2019 pre-owned E-Tron. They fully sanitized the car and respected distancing. I did a normal full walk around as I am a pretty meticulous car owner and wanted to make sure I was aware of any cosmetic issues, and the car looked amazing, aside from some curb rash on one of the wheels. I ended up loving the car and decided to move forward. I needed to trade in my current vehicle which - after some negotiation - they gave me a very fair price for. They agreed to repair the wheel damage and it had large decals on the side I asked to have removed. So, they needed to keep the car for about a week before I picked it up. Upon picking the car up the sales rep showed me quickly some of the basics and I went on my merry way. The next day I detailed the car and noticed, to my surprise the underside of the front right side of the bumper had damage that was not previously there? It was as if someone hit a parking block or something. I did not notice upon picking the car up, as honestly, it was kinda a rush pickup due to social distancing - I had the original listing photos as well for reference. Upon seeing the damage Immediately my heart sank. I feared this would end up being my word vs their word scenario, which would end up in a long drawn out evidence-based discussion and negotiation to fix the damage (I have dealt with this in the past from a different dealer). I have to say Jay the sales manager was amazing in resolving this situation. He did not probe me, did not test the validity of my concerns, and offered to have the car repaired. I can not stress how thankful I was for this relief. So grateful he believed me and resolved this for me. This proved they are good on their word and can be trusted to take care of their customers. In the end, Given the current state of events, Audi of Marin did a great job here, and I am a very happy customer. I am thankful for the support I received. This is a pretty significant customer service failure. I got a call from the general manager apologizing for the situation, with a promise to talk to the team and try to improve communication moving forward. 5 STARS! We just purchased our second Audi from Audi Marin on April 30th, 2023. This was our first experience with the new owners/management group. I had a very good experience with the old ownership and this experience was definitely a very pleasant upgrade! The sales approach is a "team effort" so we were never out of the "Audi Marin Sales loop". We did not feel pressured, just well taken care of. I don't know if we got lucky or all the sales people are like our team of Lori Bye, L-C Finely Sr. and Nathan Proctor. Our search took a little longer due to our personal needs but that made no difference in the exceptional effort our team made in being available to us at all times to respond to any questions. Lori even brought a car up to our home in Petaluma on that Sunday to make it easier for my wife. We bought that car that afternoon. The deal discussions were just as easy and professional. They were all very low key; they listened to our needs and then gave us a great package/price on that beautiful A4. Completing the paperwork with Josh in Finance was easy, professional and topped off the great deal. It was a win/win for everybody. We finished the process after closing time and L-C told us to call if we had any questions setting up all of the new digital features. Well, we did have questions and sent a text to L-C Sunday evening about a set-up issue. He called us back and spent two hours with us on the phone getting things dialed-in despite the fact that he was actually off work and on his "weekend". Exceptional customer service! I bought an RS Q8 from this lot and when I brought it in for this first service I told him not to wash the vehicle. They wash the vehicle anyway destroying my entire paint job on my $180,000 car. So many problems... I purchased a used car, traded one in and paid cash for the remainder so it should have been pretty straight forward. However, they made a paperwork error, and it was four months past the registration expiration before getting the sticker. With multiple follow up phone calls, I finally received the registration and title. In the meantime, the fancy door protection (the stick-on edging) that they require you to purchase, started to peel off and I had to return to have it replaced. I was told this should be a quick process (maybe 30 min.), but it actually took a few hours. The paperwork for the car that I traded in was also not filled out correctly. I continue to receive bridge tolls by mail (despite removing it from my Fastrak account) and parking tickets. I have been required to send proof of the sale to multiple different entities to prove that I am not responsible for these fees. While I really love the car that I bought, I would not go back to this dealership again. I'd recommend that you find a different one to shop with to save yourself some headaches. read more

I bought a 2013 Audi s6 and although it's a dream car I am filled with regret from this purchase merely because I bought it from Audi Marin.
