Snap, crackle, pop gone. I took my vintage Sansui AU 9900 amp for refurbishing to Jerry based on a friend's recommendation. While it did take some time, Jerry replaced several items (capacitors, transistors, etc) and restored the amp. After several hours of listening to my vinyl and cassette tapes I am very pleased with his work. I should also add that Jerry responded to all my email inquiries and kept me updated on the status of repair.

Jerry did the great job restoring my sansui 5050 receiver and replacing JBL L77 surrounds. It took a little while to do the job but result is amazing.

I have a vintage pioneer sx-780 receiver, sound distorts, radio stations drift, sounds great when all 4 speakers work, however that is rare. Can Audio Carpetorium fix this?

I believe we spoke by phone? Normally, Yelp sends an e-mail to me right away when someone asks a question; not days later. Sorry for the inconvenience. jerry

I have a vintage record player and need a new needle installed. Can this company help with this?

Yes! I keep a large inventory of needles for vintage record players in-stock. In the chance I don't have yours, I can order it.

The only authorized Kawai dealer in NYC. So for city slickers, if you're in the market for their CA…read moreor CS series (the digital pianos with cabinet and Grand Feel II actions, considered by many to be the best non-hybrid digital actions available) and don't want to drive/take commuter rail, this is all you've got. The first floor has a lot of new Kawai acoustic grands; the second floor has used Steinways and other American/European brands; the third floor has plenty of lower-end digitals; uprights are scattered throughout the floors. The pianos are not as well-maintained as, say, Faust Harrison, with quite a few out of tune or with non-working dampers, but they also have a lot more pianos and the ones that are well-maintained do sound pretty good. Anyways, back to digitals, since that's what I came here for: Kawai's flagship digitals are going to be found on the first floor. If you want the very best GFII action, you should try the CA78 and CA98; they also come in polished ebony as the CS8 and CS11 respectively. The CA98 has better speakers and a real upright soundboard compared to the CA78, but I thought the CA78 was good enough so I went with that. When I came in February 2018 they didn't have the CA48 and CA58 yet (only available in Europe/Japan back then), which have the Grand Feel Compact action with shorter pivot lengths, but their website says they're in stock now so something else to consider. When you are ready to buy, they will tell you a price; despite what they may say, all prices are negotiable. After negotiation, you will probably still end up overpaying $1,000 compared to Europe (it's ridiculous how much Kawai fleeces their American customers, just like Apple/Nikon/Canon do to their European customers) and $100-200 compared to the rest of the country, but this is city life for you.

I have played the piano since the age of five. My piano teacher, Mrs. Duke, a kindly lady with…read moreendless patience and an extreme distaste for jazz, insisted that I learn not just classical piano, but music theory as well. I grew up learning to love the great classical masters (although of course, not all of them were strictly Classical; some were Baroque, or Romantic, or Modern). I played at recitals, I played at competitions, I played at friends' houses and in churches and wherever I thought I could get away with it. I got to be pretty good after all those lessons and all those endless hours of practice. Then I went away to college and although I played off and on throughout those years, I didn't practice every day. And then I left college and didn't have a piano. Gradually I got worse and worse until one day about a year ago I sat down to play and realized I couldn't remember much of anything but a single piece that I'd competed with when I was sixteen. This made me kind of sad but life in a New York apartment does not frequently lend itself to owning such a large, loud instrument. Unless, of course, that instrument is a brand new compact digital piano that is designed for small spaces, looks like a small upright and sounds like a concert grand. Frank and Camille's sold one to my darling better half, who gave it to me as a surprise and a birthday/Christmas present and also a thank you for, you know, growing an entire human being in my body. (He's now exempt from giving me any presents ever again, in case you're wondering. Well, at least until Mother's Day. When is that again?) If I grow tired of this model (unlikely), the store will match the price and allow us to upgrade to a newer version if we return the old piano. Every part of this experience, from payment to delivery to setup, has been entirely wonderful. Now I can bang away on the keys while the baby naps, thanks to the wonders of modern headphone and baby monitor technology. I'm starting to get pretty good again, though I doubt I'll ever have the same delicate panache I did when I was younger. But who cares about perfection when you're spending quality time with guys like Bach and Beethoven and Chopin? It's enough just to play again. And Frank and Camille's made it possible. Highly recommended.
