I've known Marty for about 12 years, and he is the small business marathon man in New York City. His shop opened years and years ago by his pop. His prices are very competitive, and I don't think anybody knows more about TVs light fixtures basically anything electrical. And he has good people working for him. It took a while to get to know him, but now that I do, I stop by often just to say hello or drop off a croissant. They don't make them like Marty anymore. A genuinely good guy. read more

Good for a quick fix. Amazon prices compared to store prices are much cheaper. Asked over the phone for a TV installation price was over double the price than getting it done from Best Buy. Seemed to rush me off the phone like I was bothering him. My wife went to get light bulbs from him, told her we would not be able to find it ANYWHERE else. He told me he could fix it but it wasn't worth it, and to just replace it. He could have ripped me off, but he didn't. I have TV that's on the fritz and I called expecting to pay a fee or something to have it looked at. The man I spoke with was so honest and said flat out "its not worth it to be repaired cause TVs are so cheap right now; don't let anyone charge you to take a look at it. That's a scam" which I so appreciated. Guy took money out of his pocket to be honest with a random customer who called. Will be my first call should I need a repair in the future. read more

My tv stopped working, one month out of warranty. Called Jennings TV Services and the individual who answered was knowledgable and very helpful. He honestly told me that it was going to be expensive to repair. He also suggested that I contact the credit card company - that there may be a benefit of an extended warranty for items purchased under the card. Turns out I did have that benefit, and would never had thought about it. Bottom line I replaced the tv, and if it ever needs service, I will certainly call Jennings TV. read more

I brought my Denon home theater receiver here for a repair after it was dropped by movers during a recent move. The collision with the floor thankfully only damaged one banana port in the rear of the receiver. Mr. Jennings was able to repair it so it both looks and functions like new, and it only took a few days to get the part and make the install. I had first taken it to Best Buy, but their service plan doesn't cover damage like this, and they wanted to charge me more just to send it to their repair center than I wound up paying Jennings, which is where it would've stayed for at least two weeks. Thankfully I found Jennings and he was able to fix it. It's rare to find a business like this nowadays, so if you need any electronics fixed or a consultation, I would suggest paying Mr. Jennings a visit. read more

Made up some excuse not to repair, wasted time bringing a heavy unit in. Was given false advertisement from New York Times & New York 1 news about this business. Vintage Hardware hobbyist let down, I do not recommend this for actually TV repair related work, as a "Honest opinion" will say not worth it. One of the last in a dying breed of fix-it-all electronics men. When my early 2000s era stereo receiver gave me the blinking red light of death, I was dismayed that the expertise of "electronics repair" joints was mostly limited to slapping new batteries and screens onto iPhones. Enter Jennings's TV. After looking askance at my device and asking if I'd actually want it repaired (yes), he gave me the option of deciding to proceed based on a teardown and diagnosis. Ends up, the receiver was turned around in days, working as good as new. And at ~$100 for the repair, saved hundreds in not having to spring for a new stereo system. Note: Careful when turning around in the store while carrying backs - seems pretty easy to smash or tip over precariously stacked piles of lightbulbs. read more

I brought in an old Sony AM/FM/Weather shower radio for repair of the wire FM antenna, which had torn resulting in no reception. The radio had been discontinued and the cost to replace it was double what I had paid. Mr. Jennings was in the shop and could not have been friendlier. We chatted about the neighborhood, his background, and other things while he worked on the repair. When he finished and I asked how much, Mr. Jennings said no charge. I highly recommend this store. Service with a smile and at a fair price--can't beat it. read more

Never written a yelp review before, but Jennings TV and Marty are so wonderful I had to. The cord for my mounted TV would not thread through the wall after I had drilled holes in the wall, and they had discontinued the TV model. Went to Best Buy and every other large electronics provider, they all said there was nothing they could do to help and that I should instead scour the internet for a longer wire they weren't even sure I could find. Desperate, I found Jennings TV service and went over there. Explained the situation to Marty, barely provided him with any info, and he had the fix to my problem in about 5 seconds. There aren't many businesses or business owners like this anymore. Could not recommend Jennings TV more. read more

Jennings was established when I moved into the neighborhood over fifty years ago. I have used their expertise since then. From the lovely Mrs.Jennings putting down her mystery book to help me and her knowledgeable son Marty, who is still there, fixing all my electrical problems, I couldn't give them high enough praise. Don't be put off by comments saying that Marty is rude. It's all an act. He calls himself "Tough guy" but he couldn't be kinder. Jennings TV Repair is so much more than a tv repair store. Marty the owner has been in the neighborhood for many years. In his tiny, yet immensely packed store, he carries a variety of hard to find light bulbs, batteries, etc. Marty repairs lamps, radios, and even VCRs. Don't waste your time. I called in asking for a quote to repair my Samsung LED TV and like other reviewers mentioned, he was rude and didn't seem to care for my business. I gave him my name, the brand of my TV, and model number and he told me to call back tomorrow. I called back the next day and he asks me for the same exact information. When I told him that I gave this information to him yesterday, he proceeded to berate me and put me on hold while chit-chatting with his friends. I called Jennings TV after seeing a clip about them on Channel 1. I was told several times my new flat screen tv couldn't be connected to my old VCR. I called Mr. Jennings and made an immediate an appointment to come up to see me. Knowing the make and model of each component, and two cables he brought with him, he had it all connected and my VCR tapes working within five minutes. I come from West End Avenue to get my lamps fixed here. Jennings does an outstanding job, has great prices and has every lightbulb or battery you'll ever need. He's a pleasure to talk to and he's very helpful. I first found out about him from seeing his store mentioned on NY1 TV. I then brought him my vacuum cleaner to repair and it's still working perfectly today which was such a relief because I didn't want to buy a new vacuum. read more

I would recommend this store to anyone looking for honest and polite service. I called to find out if it was worthwhile to fix my 9-year-old flat screen Samsung TV. Mr.Jennings took the Model number, did some research, and told me the TV is "dead". While I wasn't happy to learn definitively that most flat screens aren't intended to be repaired, I totally trust his advice.
