Frank is the nicest and friendliest person ever! he was genuinely helpful and so kind. i got a digital camera in great quality with a protective case from him. he also has a huge cassette collection, which is so hard to find anywhere! i was able to find some gems and overall had a great experience.

They repaired my Sony PVM14M4U, they are really good experts in CRT televisions. I highly recommend them.

    Replace broken MacBook Air screen?

These guys seem capable of repairing every piece of tech I can think of. Call Frank and he’ll most likely say, “Just bring it in.” They’ve fixed multiple tech for me over two decades, all at a fair price

Does this place repair MiniDV camcorders?

I think so. I've seen them do repairs for video gear. Just call and ask.

Does this business purchase broken devices? Such as a TV for example?

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say "No." They sometimes have to sell equipment that customers haven't picked up or paid for. They "might" buy some unusual non working piece of equipment if it had particular value, but I doubt even that. By and… Read more

Give them a call and ask. Do not be discourage if the quote ia high. I went in for a VCR issue and the gentleman at the counter fixed it for 1/8 of the quoted price.

When you tell him that what he's saying, makes no sense he put his hand out and says nice to meet you. They lied to you they give you a non-apple screen and then they tell you that it's a non-apple screen. You ask them why they didn't tell you upfront and they say to you all you seemed in a rush. Then someone in the main office read the review and post on the website and says Oh please contact us and then when you contact them they tell you. -- no refunds. Good luck. Do not go to these people. Go to any old shopping in Chinatown it's cheap cheaper and you get the same thing for far less money. The screen they put on is not responsive to touch. It's not like the Apple screen at all and it's very hard to use. The thing is they don't tell you that before you pay. So be very careful of using this place or any of its locations. They have zero customer follow up so they post on yelp that they want you to call them but when you call them, they say you're out of luck.update -- so now they can't find me as a person who got service and paid -- I paid 201 dollars for a screen that doesn't work. I went to the west 23 st. Place after Freddy at Greenwich gave me some absurd options. The 23 street shop did NOT tell me it was a non-Apple screen. Lied to my face. I should sue you all.

I have been going to Eric for Repairs at 2 prior locations and I think highly of him. This time I went on 2/28/25 to fix an iphone X whose screen was "ghosting" due to a prior fiz I had while out of town a few months prior. Eric is reliable and communicative, and will not make a fix unless he lets you know the exact cost up front, and he uses good parts, and out of 2prior fixes in the last 13 years I never had a problem with those phones, and they still operate today I just upgraded models. One was an older android, and one was an iphone 5S! Although my initials are the same as the company, I have no affiliation with them, but I do recommend them, but because when I tried to find them the only listing they had was for the older address and he hasnt been on Chrstie street in 10 years at least. He is located in a pharmacy, and the sign is outside, but his work is fast, and he is courteous and efficient. Once their was a phone he could not fix as it was determined to be a motherboard pronlem and he did not charge me anything. For this job I give him ***** (5 Stars)***** and I am a hard, but loyal consumer so coming from me that is quality.

It cost 100+ to get my samsung fixed (took 3 days) and it broke again in a month. It would not power on. I went to the store again and the same staff recognized me. He tried to figure out what was wrong and in the end said "he isn't sure now but if I leave my phone there, he will fix it". I asked if this was complimentary as it was the same issue he "fixed" a month ago, and he said no he will be charging me 100ish. 100ish AGAIN, for an issue that is the same (phone not powering on, screen is black, just fixed it a MONTH ago!), no thank you. The other issue was the samsung sim card slot that he "fixed". The staff pulled it out and broke the slot and charged me 20. However, on my samsung phone, you have to press the simcard and it pops out. So he removed it wrong, broke it, then charged me 20. My friends had good experiences with fixing broken screens or something simple, but if you have TECHNICAL issues do not come here! I am sad that I had such a bad experience and I regret spending so much money. TLDR: 1. got my phone fixed (phone was not turning on), broke after a month (phone not turning on again), wanted to charge me again 2. took out my simcard the wrong way, broke the slot, charged me

I had a very disappointing experience with iFix NY Midtown regarding my ROG Ally X repair…read more Last Tuesday, they texted me saying they had diagnosed an issue with the left analog stick controller board assembly, which was affecting input and control response. They said the repair would include replacing the left analog stick controller board assembly to restore functionality. The quoted cost was $230 + tax, with an estimated turnaround time of 2-5 business days. After that, I had to call almost every day just to get updates. Then today, I received a different message saying they had received replacement parts, but not the full set. They said they could replace the damaged analog sticks themselves, but were still waiting for the round LED light rings around the sticks. They also said they could return the device with the controllers functional, but the left stick would have no LED light ring. That was concerning because the original diagnosis and quote were for the left analog stick controller board assembly, but the later message described replacing the analog sticks themselves and leaving the LED ring unfinished. For $230 + tax, I do not think a partial or incomplete repair is acceptable. When I went to pick up the device, I had already called and was told it was ready. But when I arrived, I still had to wait around 30 minutes while they reassembled it. That is not "ready for pickup." To be fair, the owner was there and was kind, apologetic, and professional. My issue was not with him. My issue was with the repair technician handling my device. His attitude was horrendous, and the interaction felt careless and unprofessional. The worst part is that after testing my ROG Ally X in-store, the left trigger felt worse than before, and the light around the stick was no longer working. I brought the device in for a specific repair, and I left feeling like it had been returned with new problems. As someone who runs a tech company and understands customer service, I was shocked by how poorly the repair side of this was handled. I had other products I was considering bringing to them, but after this experience, I will not be returning. A kind owner cannot make up for a disorganized, incomplete, and careless repair process.

However, as someone with over 46 years of…read moreexperience serving the community, government agencies, and local city and law enforcement with technology advice, I feel obligated to be honest. Unfortunately, my experience at Jay Repair was inadequate and unprofessional in several key areas. While the conversation began respectfully, the service itself fell short of reasonable expectations. I had to wait over an hour to have my screen replaced a second time because the first display installed was not designed for the iPhone 14 Pro. It was a screen intended for the iPhone 14, not the Pro model. This mistake should not happen at a repair shop, especially when model-specific hardware differences are well documented. This exact issue happened to me previously with an iPhone 11 Pro in 2023, and unfortunately, it has now happened again. For clarity: There is only one correct display type for iPhone Pro and Pro Max models--the Super Retina XDR display. There is no legitimate "lower HD" version for Pro models. Apple does not promote or support such distinctions on their website. Anyone familiar with Apple technology understands that software and hardware are tightly integrated, and Apple updates each device specifically. That's why repair shops must provide accurate, up-to-date information about replacement screens--especially for newer models like the iPhone 14 Pro, 15 Pro, and 16 Pro, which require Super Retina XDR displays exclusively. As a certified technician myself and a long-term Apple user since the iPhone 3GS, I am well aware of how Apple operates. Despite the inconvenience, delay, and incorrect installation, I was still charged full price, when a price adjustment would have been appropriate--at minimum as compensation for the error and time lost. This is why I'm deducting two stars. I also made the technician aware of excessive heat generation after the screen installation, which is a serious concern. While the shop policy states that a 15-minute repair is not guaranteed, I had already waited far beyond that and should not have been charged again under these circumstances. To be fair, the technician remained calm and mindful, which is why this review stands at 2.5 stars rather than lower. I had also called 20-25 minutes in advance to let the shop know I was on my way, yet the correct display was not available in-store, causing an additional 49-minute delay. I documented this on video as well. I don't want to discredit you as a person, but the service itself reflects a lack of up-to-date technical understanding, which is concerning for a repair shop owner. Technology evolves constantly, and repair practices must evolve with it. We all learn every day--but staying current is essential in this line of work.

They told me it would take 5 days to recover my data.. and that they would keep me informed on their progress. As I've had this problem before, this sounded reasonable to me, because it has taken about 5 days in my past experiences. It has now been 30 days. They have not done one thing that they say they are going to do with the exception of a return phone call today. Friday they told me it will be ready Monday, and so I took time off work Tuesday to pick up toward the end of the day. Now they are telling me 3 more days! WHAT??
