I had an amazing experience with Audiomobile in Hayward! From the moment I started looking for a kill switch for my car, I called around and checked out different places--including some discounted options on Groupon. Prices ranged from about $250 to $600, but I wasn't looking for a basic kill switch. I wanted something sophisticated, something that would truly make it difficult for anyone to steal my car. That's when I found Audiomobile. I was greeted by a guy named Bo, who was super friendly. He even joked with me about which door to enter since their shop has a ramp leading up to it. The shop itself is a good size, fitting five or six cars inside with additional parking outside. It's well-stocked and clearly run by experienced professionals. I remember there used to be an Audiomobile location in Oakland, but it's no longer there. When I explained my idea for a custom kill switch, Bo was all in. He listened carefully, walked me through how it would work, and even integrated some of my own ideas and materials into the design. What started as a simple hidden switch turned into something far more complex and stealthy--exactly what I wanted. I honestly don't think anyone will be able to figure out how to start my car now! Beyond the quality of their work, their communication was top-notch. They provided a detailed quote, kept me updated on any changes, and even priced out two different options for me. Everything was sent via email, including a clear breakdown of costs and an online receipt after my payment. Overall, their service was amazing. After the install, I took my car to an auto shop for some additional service work, and there was a minor issue with getting my car into accessory mode due to the kill switch. However, as soon as I called Audiomobile, they collaborated directly with the folks at The Garage to resolve the issue smoothly. I didn't have to worry about a thing. Even the staff at The Garage were impressed with how great the Audiomobile team was! Once again, I would highly recommend this shop to anyone. An excellent business; I highly recommend it. I phoned and asked if I needed an appointment on a Friday afternoon a few weeks ago (I wanted to switch out my head unit but keep the rest of my system, speakers and all). They said no appointment needed, come on down. I popped in a few hours later, and Bao listened carefully to my wants, showed me what he had in stock, and gave me a couple of different quotes with different options. His quotes were very reasonable, and even though I had quirky requests (an inexpensive unit, testing my existing system's amp, wanting to know about fancier head unit features just so I'd know my options), he did NOT try the "hard upsell" and did NOT pad the quote based on the chance that I might need a more elaborate wiring harness. I said I'd think about it and come back in a week or so. Instead, I came back in about an hour that same day, and they said they could take care of my car right away. Bao said he'd first check if I needed the more expensive harness; five minutes later, he said "good news, we can use the cheaper harness, come back in an hour and a half and you'll be ready to go." In my experience, this kind of prompt, direct, honest service, combined with high quality installation (my system looks and works great, the sound is vastly better than what I had before) is VERY rare when dealing with technicians, especially when you don't want to be upsold. I will tell this story to friends and will certainly return to Audiomobile next time I upgrade my car audio or alarm. read more

I own a 1995 Porsche 911 Carerra convertible- a classic that was in desperate need of a new sound system. I had taken it recently to another shop who did a horrible job of putting in not-so-great speakers and wired them sloppily. The speakers sounded worse and I was mad. After reading the Yelp reviews for Audiomobile, I thought I would check them out. I met with Bao and he spent hours with me explaining stereos, amps, speakers and installation. I never felt pressured to buy any component over another but by the time I had left, I had agreed upon a pretty serious sound system. I was most concerned about sound and preserving the vintage look of the car. Bao assured me that I would be pleased. I picked my car up this week (it was in the stereo shop a week) and it was gorgeous and sounded fantastic. I could not be happier with the sound and the quality of the work. The installation took serious customization because of the car's age and the limited space available for the components. The car looks better than it did when I left it with Audiomobile and sounds like, well, an amazing system. Of course, the system is complex and requires some serious learning to use. Bao and David spent substantial time at pick-up teaching me how to use the system. They are patient and methodical teachers. Overall, great, professional and friendly service- a rarity these days. These guys have terrific work ethic and deserve their reputation. I intend to spread the word about Audiomobile. Well done! read more

I have a 2004 Porsche Cayenne Twin Turbo...so wanted nothing but the best for my vehicle. I brought it to other shops, including a highend one in Santa Cruz, but they wanted 12,000 dollars. I brought it to Audiomobile, got aftermarket custom headrests for the monitors...and Bo and guys there did a wonderful job, customizing the monitors to headrests , installing two video monitors, a secret 3rd one hidden in the glove compartment, and quick plugs ins for our game or video system. They even made a custom matching cover for our XBOX. WOW. TOtal cost was only $1400. Wahoo !!! Then, I brought in my custom Stillen Suburban. This car has over $40,000 of audiovisual entertainment gear installled by a specialty shop called Stillen, and Audiomobile knew exactly what the others guys did. I wanted to upgrade the video game system, as well as CD player. Again....they did a wonderful job at a reasonable price. And when my antenna got jammed....they fixed it for no charge. A professional work at a good price. These guys , in my opinion, are the best. I would not hesitate to call on them for my ultra high end needs and my higher expectations. read more

It would be a mistake to equate this tiny shop, with space for only 3-4 cars at a time in their garage/workshop, with 'tiny' work. I just had my 1997 4Runner hooked up with DRL LEDs installed in the narrow filler panels located underneath each front headlamp assembly, and they built a custom-made jig to create factory like, in accuracy, openings in each filler panel, even routing out the ends of the openings to exactly fit the rounded ends of an 8-LED Philips DRL bar, they sold to me at their shop. If you want thorough and precise electrical work done, be it stereo installation, security system installation, and LED light installation, all done for a fair price, you will not be disappointed... at all! read more

I recently had the head-unit replaced in my 2005 Mercedes SL 600. I ordered all the parts myself and made about 10 calls. Every single person I called referred me to Bao Le at Audiomobile. I sent Bao [pronounced "Bo"] an email and even though he was out of town at a convention he replied . . . very professional. He got me in two days later and spent an entire day getting the job done correctly. He even converted the old CD changer opening into a useful space the size of a large glove box. Extra space is very useful in an SL 600. There is no reason not to go with the best and Audiomobile is the best in town. read more

I had such a good experience with Audiomobile with the installation of an alarm system to my 4Runner, that I came back a week later and had the same set up installed in my Infiniti coupe. I drove a little bit outside of my home, but it was worth it. The installation for both cars were perfect. The staff took the time to explain the system. I like this shop. Alan is very knowledgeable about car audio. This is not a Circuit City or Best Buy; this is an independent car audio shop. They have some high end gears that most of the big retailers don't have like Mcintosh, Audison, Focal. Best part I like is their installation work. Their works are awesome, no trouble.
