Great service! The center dash speaker of my 2001 Eclipse sounded like it was blown. I took my car in at 6:05 pm to have them diagnose it. By 6:10 paperwork was completed and my car was in the shop. At 6:50 I was driving home enjoying the music. Great price, great attitude, fast service, and no pushy sales people. What a breath of fresh air. Note that they are in Chinatown so parking can be crazy during the day unless they can fit your car in their garage- which seem small even if it's tandem. Excellent and timely service. My car recently had a problem which could not be diagnosed successfully at my regular garage. They knew it was electrical, said it was not the alternator and offered to do a complete diagnosis. A friend recommended Audiomobile and said David was a wiz at auto electrical diagnosis. I had my car towed there, not only did David diagnose the problem but he took videos of the electrical measurements which he showed me when I picked up the car. He looked after sending the car to a nearby garage to have it fixed. Et voila! After 2 frustrating days of no results at the other garage, my car is on the road. In addition, David went beyond the call of duty by reprogramming my very "non user friendly" car radio that I purchased somewhere else. i have a 2014 mini cooper roadster without a factory installed alarm as most minis are apparently not brought in with alarms to keep the cost down. i was having a hard time working with the dealer to find someone to install an aftermarket alarm system and then i found Audiomobile right here in Oakland. When there was some wiring problem my brother took his car back to have it fix. Alan asked Bao to strip my brother's car high end speakers and put in cheap speakers!! When my brother brought it up to them they made some excuse and brush him off!! They basically took back the what I paid for my brother!! That's stealing!! What kind of business would steal back what they sell to their customer?! So becareful if you bring your car in and make sure they didn't do a switch right under your nose! One star is for the courteous staff. Their price is very high. Basing on Yelp, I came in and selected a head unit for my daughter's 20 year old BMW. It was a very basic single DIN unit with bluetooth to replace the oem broken one. The unit plus installation was a whopping $600. Check on-line later, I found out the the head unit was only $200 retail. I am very disappointed for not checking around before coming here. read more

Most auto stereo techs don't even want to talk to you when you mention "Bose" and "Infiniti" in the same sentence because you can only use Bose parts or the stereo system will not function correctly. When they do give you a quote based on their over the phone hypothetical summation of the problem, the price seems like it includes pain and suffering damages for the stress they had to go through even discussing it. I asked my friend Yelp Dot Com if he knew anybody who could give me an fair and considerate troubleshoot/estimate/prophecy on my snap, crackling and popping janky right stereo speaker. So I rolled into Audiomobile this Saturday and the first thing I saw was this dude in the garage eating some BBQ chicken slathered in sauce and right then, I stopped worrying about my speaker and kicked my trepidation to the curb...because I wanted to know where he got that chicken from. But I digress. He called David over. He came out and did a quick assessment and asked me to leave it with him after demonstrating his extensive knowledge of all the problems associated with this infamous factory speaker system. I left the car with him and BART-hopped to kill time like I always do when I need auto repairs. He had called me back within 10 minutes with the problem, the necessary corrective action and extremely fair price for the installation and labor. Luckily he had the Bose Amp I needed in-stock, which is another blessing because most places don't carry or even know how to order Bose parts apparently. This is the place I'm giving my 401K withdrawal over to, when I tear out this garbage stereo and replace it with a new in-dash stereo, amp and speakers upgrade, with usb-mp3 hookup. This place is just hype. Got an alarm installed here to replace my previous alarm since it did not have an immobilizer. The placed the theft led in the ugliest location(right in the middle of my console) when my old theft led was on the left of the steering wheel. they took out the old led and just stuck a piece of rubber to seal it up, leaving it looking ugly as fuck. Really amazing service here...I bought an alarm here several years ago and a thief broke into my car (when it was unalarmed) and disabled the audio in the alarm. I took the car into Audiomobile where they spent 20-30 minutes repairing it - all at no charge. This was way after the warranty expired. I WILL BE BACK for any other car audio or alarming needs. I just needed to have the stock radio (Cassette Drive and Programmable Radio channels!) stuffed back in the gaping hole in my dashboard. I'm done with nice radios; my car is easier to pop open than a can of RC cola. Yelp steered me toward Audiomobile (I love Yelp!) and sure enough, there was no shame, no ridicule, no second guessing and no hard sell for speakers bigger than Meteor Crater. They were super nice, super fast and super reasonable. I had a lovely stroll around the block, got pearl tea and a Banh Mi sandwich for lunch and by the time I got back it was all done and they even fixed my back speaker wires - no charge. (I didn't even realize they were broken but it sure sounds better than it used to!) If I ever break down and think I'm grown-up enough to get a real radio, I'll definitely have it done there! read more

I am a fan. Curious why the low marks. Had an amp that would not work. Looked like the fuse was busted on my JL amp (purchased many years ago somewhere else). They replaced the fuse and still no go. Hmmm.....checked a few things out since i told them the sound just cut out. After spending about 15 minutes checking a few things, they tried another fuse. Great. Everything fine. After about 20 minutes and swapping out the fuse i got charged $5! Not bad. Would definitely check this place out if you need work done. read more

They've told me when they think I can install things on my own (FM transmitter), what stereo options are available only from dealers (the guy suggested I give them a call because what I want is only available from the dealer). Dude, these guys rock. I had a very tight schedule and a terrible sounding stereo. The only thing I was bummed about when my car was broken into a couple of months ago is that the thieves only damaged my deck and didn't managed to get it out of the car. Turns out that the guys in Marin who installed the Pioneer did so faulty. My car is a mid 90's Mercedes and so there are some tricks to the factory amplifier, but its not brain surgery. Bao and his team were well prepared for this car and its quirks and also had a great selection of quality equipment. I picked out the mid level stereo that had the iPhone USB charger, etc on it and within about 90 minutes they had me sorted out. Are you kidding me? In just over an hour these boyz had the new system sounding 100 percent better than what I had paid twice as much for a couple of years ago in Marin. Upon my return I actually decided on that a bluetooth deck would be a better option for me. No problem said the Bao Man. They just yanked the brand new deck that they installed OUT and installed the upgraded version for me. Ran the new speaker wire and everything, no questions asked. These guys really get the customer and I totally appreciated it. i would recommend this business to anyone who likes to be treated fairly and decently. Called yesterday, made an appointment for today. David was great -- personable, informed, helpful, answered all my questions. I had done some research but he sold me a replacement that cost LESS than anything I had found, and the total cost was less than I had expected to pay. He actually explained why my model was better than others that cost more. New JVC head unit was installed without a scratch in about 2 hours. He went over the controls with me after the installation. They did a great job installing a radio and speakers in my 2002 Mini Cooper, including running a wire for a microphone round and about and here and there, just as I requested. It looked and worked beautifully. A problem occurred almost a year after installation, and they addressed it quickly with good humor and no charge! Thats right folks....its a five star rating which is not something I give out easily. I have an older Mercedes Benz that was a victim of having the window smashed and the radio ripped out. I bought a new unit myself and was planning on installing it to save some cash! Well I was able to get the front speakers working no problem but I could not solve the puzzle that is the back speakers. After much internet searching I realized that there were some amps that had to be bypassed which meant taking out the back seat. And then there was the issue with "common ground" that drove me crazy. Needless to say after my discouragment and many months of having the radio in a box I decided it was time to get this done. I turned to Yelp and low and behold Audiomobile appeared like the place to go. Little did I know at the time that these guys are Mercedes experts. I called "Bo" up and he quoted me a price and said to come on down. Long story short I have a new radio in my ride, it was done in an hour, and it was half the quoted cost from another yelp competitor. Not only does the install look and sound great they were able to secure the unit after the asshat thief cracked all the supporting plastic structure.
