Has this car really been washed?
    Alexander E.

After my last review, the manager kindly called me to apologize. He also gave me three free oil changes. And the service agents have been a lot less pushy since. But yesterday, I again had a bad experience, on my third free oil change. At their recommendation, I got my AC serviced. Now my car smells like it has an air freshener in it, which is bad because of respiratory issues in my family. I called them today, and they said it'll take 1-2 weeks to go away. Just in time for our road trip. Ugh. And, adding insult to injury, they estimated one hour, and I was there for 2.5. And they still didn't wash my car, even though I asked for the car wash.

Terrible customer service bought a 2021 Kia and in the seams of the driver seat is ripping will not replace it because they said I did not spend enough money there because I get my oil changes in the town I live in which is two hours away them what kind of customer service is that.. not only that the sun said that they would guarantee it for one year and then they change their mind. Unbelievable. My new I bought this car brand new.

I bought a car from Auffenberg Nissan. Some parts of the experience I was happy with, others I was…read morenot. I went to Auffenberg because I wanted to look at the Nissan Altima and believe it or not, this was the only Nissan dealer in the St. Louis area open in the evening during the week, and since I was in a crunch time was, this was a necessity. Dustin greeted us, listened to what I was looking for, and showed us some cars. He was happy to let us test drive the 2.5L and the 3.5L Altima on the interstate, and he even let us drive far before coming back. He was very passionate about the cars, and his excitement shone through as he pointed out all the different features on the car. In the days after my visit, I found myself wanting the Nissan, even more than the car I had been saying I was going to get to replace my old one for the past year or so. So in that sense, Dustin did a very good job as a salesman. He was knowledgeable, passionate, and really able to get me interested in the car. My situation was a bit unique. As I mentioned, I was in a time crunch. I came to the dealership on a Thursday evening, and just a few days later I was going to be out of the country for 3 weeks. Dustin told me he would work with me to make the sale without my being there. This was important because when I went, I was able to get $6000 off the regular price due to a sale they were having. I later lost out on $1000 of that, but that was my fault. I tried calling him minutes before boarding my flight to tell him I'd take it, but I couldnt reach him, costing me the $1000. I was generally ok with that, because it allowed me to think about it more; I was largely rushing into what seemed like a good decision, but one I may have regretted. I left a message for him telling him I'd take the car. Unfortunately, the message wasnt enough. He needed my credit card number and a few other things, none of which he mentioned when I visited the dealership. This was the beginning of the downturn. Another strange thimg is that when I was at the dealership discussing price, apparently he had a very long list of groups or organizations or whatever and if you are part of one or can claim one, you get a different (lower?) price for the car. For example, if you are in the military, you get a different (lower?) price. Silly me, I thought it would cost the same regardless. I dont fault him, as I think this is the dealership, or perhaps all dealerships. Anyway, I thought about it for a few more days and eventually decided (again) this was the car for me. I emailed him saying I wanted it and he told me the info he needed and I gave it to him. I put down a deposit/down payment on the car. It was good. Eventually I returned to the US. I wasnt real anxious to pick up the car because I had a lot to get caught up on after being gone. After a few days of being back, Dustin called me and said I had to come in and take delivery of the car on a particular day or I would lose the other $5000 off the sale price. Unfortunately he told me this with very little lead time, and he insisted on being there. The end result was I had to drive there in a snowstorm to take delivery on this particular day. I was not happy. When I got there, things got worse. They told me that I had to finance the car through them to get the agreed upon price. I had made my own arrangements of how to pay, so although it worked out ok, I thought this was a bit strange. Then they kept asking me all these other questions about other things I might want. Did I want an extended warranty? Auto Butler? I think they asked about something else too. Of course, I had to decide on each of these things right then and there, and nobody had ever mentioned them to me. I got the extended warranty; I normally wouldnt but Consumer Reports said some very bad things about the car, and although I asked Dusting about them he had no idea what they were talking about, I figured I should get the extra protection in case it turned out to be a lemon. If nothing else, I figure some nonessential thing is likely to stop working while the warranty is still valid. Then he asked about Auto Butler. Auto Butler is a detailing service. They do both the interior and exterior. As for the exterior, it leaves the car looking brand new. Nice. The problem is that they present it like all Nissan dealers do this. They dont. The only CAR dealers in the St. Louis area that offer Auto Butler are Auffenberg and West County Honda; the next closest place is in Paducah, KY. So you have to take it to one of them. However, Auffenberg is the only one that does the interior work. I live 38 miles from Auffenberg, on the opposite side of the city. So its a major pain to take the car there. Bottom line, dont get Auto Butler. Also, make sure you ask about extras when you visit. You dont want to be surprised when you are ready to sign on the dotted line.

Ruth Harker Local Guide·30 reviews·2 photos…read moreEdited a day ago We went to this dealership to buy a used car for our son, today is his 16th. At 1:00 in the afternoon we chose a car and were going to pay cash. They said it would be 30 minutes to go through the paperwork to finish this deal. 4:15 pm still waiting (this cost us literally $1000. based on our hourly rates and they wanted us to just...come back...it's our son's birthday 40 minutes one way...ah no) The Manager Cory Reno was rude and combative. I said if I ran my business like them I wouldn't have a business...his response "oh we are far from that" not "yeah I am so sorry". Our sales person went into hiding. The only person that made an effort was a gentleman named John Hollenkamp who offered to bring the car and paperwork to our house. Thanks for ruining the surprise Auffenberg but thank you John Hollenkamp, you understand service he is why there is a single star. Don't buy a car here unless you can spend a day waiting to pay cash. Part 2 We reached out to them 3 times for paperwork on service history they promised to copy and deliver..no response. We went to get the car inspected and it failed due to fuel pump 1700. They told us we were getting gaslighted by the folks who have serviced our cars for years who also provided the diagnostic testing (which cost me 200). They recommend we get a second opinion (another 200) or that with full trust we bring it back to them, where they would also charged me a diagnostic fee (probably another 200) and then charge us likely 1600-1700 for the repair. This by far has been the worst customer experience of my life. These people understand exactly what they are doing...I literally felt like I was talking to Danny Divito in Matilda. The gentleman I spoke to John Hollenkamp said hey if you got it inspected within the first 7 days it would have passed . Like what? They didn't give us a second set of keys which we also called multiple times about without a response. a 16 year old with one key and a push button start...we didn't want him to drive it until we had a second set. This dealership if full of non action in everyday possible. Run the other way any place but Auffenberg. Just think Matilda

Met Phil who was assigned as my salesman and he was very helpful and not high pressure. Phil is way too busy selling a bunch of cars to be high pressure. Went and test drove it (nobody has a new one to even test drive), and liked it. Went back first thing on Saturday morning to buy. They offered a below sticker price and a high KBB trade in value for my trade in. Considering everyone else was selling inbound cars sight unseen or adding you to the waitlist for a Rav 4, I was pretty happy. Loving the plug in hybrid Rav 4 so far. My only complaint would be that Cody's (finance guy) demeanor immediately went cold the second that we wouldn't buy any of the extended warranties. Always the same story at every car dealer. Not sure why the finance guys are so bad.

I do not recommend this company, and I especially do not recommend working with Jim Allen…read more My son, who is currently serving in the United States Air Force Honor Guard and is stationed at Scott AFB, had his truck towed to this shop because it would crank but would not start. After diagnosing the vehicle, Jim informed him that the key fob's chip was no longer communicating with the truck's computer and that the key would need to be reprogrammed. He quoted my son approximately $650 for the repair, including fees and taxes. Concerned about the cost, we contacted CarMax, where the vehicle was purchased. They referred us to Metro Lock & Security, who stated they could perform the reprogramming for approximately $50 if we could get the truck to their location. I called Jim directly to verify the diagnosis. He again stated that the chip needed to be reprogrammed. However, once I mentioned that a locksmith had quoted a significantly lower price, his demeanor changed noticeably. From that point forward, I found his communication unprofessional, and my calls were repeatedly dismissed. We arranged for Angelo's Towing to transport the truck to Metro Lock & Security. During this process, I repeatedly attempted to pay the diagnostic fee before the tow occurred to avoid any issues. Unfortunately, I was met with delays and runaround responses. Angelo's Towing was so accommodating that they even offered to pay the diagnostic fee on my behalf and add it to my towing bill because I was coordinating everything remotely from Texas while my son was out of state performing military funeral honors in Indiana. In contrast, Angelo's Towing and Metro Lock & Security were professional, courteous, and helpful throughout the process. Unfortunately, my interactions with Jim and Megan were often rude and condescending. Once Metro Lock & Security received the truck, they quickly discovered that there was no chip inside the key fob at all. They explained that this was the reason the truck would not start. When they spoke with my son, he recalled changing the battery earlier that day and realized the chip may have accidentally fallen out. This raises an obvious question: if the chip was completely missing, how was the original diagnosis that the chip simply needed to be reprogrammed? Metro Lock & Security replaced the missing chip, programmed it successfully, and even provided my son with a military discount. The total cost was only $66, compared to the approximately $650 quote we received from Jim. I was originally quoted a diagnostic fee of $108.80, but when I was contacted for payment, the total had increased to $119.67. When I questioned the difference, I was simply told that the additional amount was for "shop fees." Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this company. We are extremely grateful to Angelo's Towing and Metro Lock & Security for their honesty, professionalism, and willingness to help a young servicemember when he needed it.

Then pushed us to use their financing, even though we had our own financing, and told us they would match our current APR rate. Okay, cool, let's do that, since we drove 2 hours one way, and didn't want to do the drive the following day. THEN the finance guy came over and immediately discredited the current warranty and started trying to sell the extra warranty. We made it clear we were not interested in any addons, period. Then we went to his finance office, and he immediately tried to sell us their extra warranty. I kid you not, we told this guy no at least 10 times, he then left to go call someone, and then came back, and his whole demeanor changed, and he was clearly annoyed he didn't get that sale. Then, after he is just handing papers to my husband, without going over it at all, I see that the interest rate is .15% HIGHER than what we agreed to. When I brought it up, the finance officer acted like he wasn't told that, and acted like it wasn't really a big deal. THEN he conveniently forgot to put the sales tax in the note, and we had to redo the paperwork. As we were leaving, the sales guy handed us the second key, which was all taped up with electrical tape. Then today I noticed the seatbelts are twisted (silly thing, but it's super annoying they didn't fix it.) There are two stains on the roof on the inside. Overall, we do like the car, but if we could take it back, we would, on the principle of the experience, after we slept and reflected on it, but their policy is only 150 miles/7 days, and that's literally our drive home. Because how are you not going to be willing to work on the price, but want us to buy your extra stuff? How are you going to push financing under false pretenses?
