Don't recommend due to shady and pushy sales tactics. First off, refused to lower any prices, and then when the salesperson said he was going to ask his manager, he came back, didn't say anything about it, and started working on the prices for the current price, and didn't even tell us they wouldn't work on a deal, until I asked. Then pushed us to use their financing, even though we had our own financing, and told us they would match our current APR rate. Okay, cool, let's do that, since we drove 2 hours one way, and didn't want to do the drive the following day. THEN the finance guy came over and immediately discredited the current warranty and started trying to sell the extra warranty. We made it clear we were not interested in any addons, period. Then we went to his finance office, and he immediately tried to sell us their extra warranty. I kid you not, we told this guy no at least 10 times, he then left to go call someone, and then came back, and his whole demeanor changed, and he was clearly annoyed he didn't get that sale. Then, after he is just handing papers to my husband, without going over it at all, I see that the interest rate is .15% HIGHER than what we agreed to. When I brought it up, the finance officer acted like he wasn't told that, and acted like it wasn't really a big deal. THEN he conveniently forgot to put the sales tax in the note, and we had to redo the paperwork. As we were leaving, the sales guy handed us the second key, which was all taped up with electrical tape. Then today I noticed the seatbelts are twisted (silly thing, but it's super annoying they didn't fix it.) There are two stains on the roof on the inside. Overall, we do like the car, but if we could take it back, we would, on the principle of the experience, after we slept and reflected on it, but their policy is only 150 miles/7 days, and that's literally our drive home. Because how are you not going to be willing to work on the price, but want us to buy your extra stuff? How are you going to push financing under false pretenses? And yes, I recognized we could have walked away at that point, and honestly, we regret not, but we drove 2 hours, it was 8 at night, and we were tired. read more

Tried to screw me over. First they handed me the sheet saying the selling price was $26,400, (on AutoTrader it was $22,694). So Brendan went back to fix it, then came back saying he gave me that $3,800 difference as a discount. Like Noooooo you haven't given me any discounts yet. I feel like people may not notice things like this. It makes me wonder how many people they've done this to who haven't noticed this little trick. They also pulled the classic, "we got another buyer who's ready to buy it if you don't!" Trick. Grow up. Went in to look at some SUV's under $20,000 at this location (Saturday). Found a nice Mazda CX-5 with a clean carfax and 1 previous owner. Price was $18,499 the day I went in and had the printout given to me but there were some chips in the paint and a small dent in the front passenger door that needed to be fixed. So I decided to wait until the work was done on it to buy it. 4 days later (Wednesday) I get a phone call saying that the car was all fixed up and I could come by and complete the sale at any time but the price had gone up by $300. I thought about it and decided it was still a decent price for the car. I informed them that I wouldn't be able to make it up there until Saturday because it's my only off day and I live in Saint Louis about 24 miles away. They inform me that "they can't hold any vehicles" for customers. I ask if I can make a down payment over the phone for the car and they said "Yes" but before I did that I asked them that if I did indeed make this down payment over the phone, would they be able to hold it for me, the answer was a firm "No". So I decided against the down payment (THANK GOD). Thursday night (about 3 hours before the dealership closed) I called the salesman who I was working with to let him know he could send over the buyers order to my bank so that I could work on it on Friday morning before I went into work. He tells me he'll "tell his manager to get that done right away". I'm in communication with my bank through the next few hours asking them if they received the buyers order and they didn't receive it. They didn't send over the buyers order until roughly 11:15am on Friday morning after I've already gone into work. My bank calls, reads me the buyers order and the dealership had changed the price that we agreed upon once again. This time I wasn't going to give in, so I told them to have them send over a new one with the agreed upon online price. Other than the price change nothing was wrong so I started working through the details with my bank and everything was handled on my end. I told my bank to call me once they received the new buyers order. An hour later I got a call from my bank telling me they sold the vehicle. TLDR: This dealership is willing to take your money in advance for a car they can't hold for you. They are also clearly willing to sell a vehicle that already has a buyers order sent out on it. Internal communication over there is abysmal. HUGE WASTE OF TIME. read more

Unbelievably, I'm going to report a great outcome after a disaster of a start. I purchased a Certified Pre-Owned 2019 CX-5 DIESEL from Jon Ballas on 02/12/2024. 36 hours later, the check engine light came on. What followed was a nearly 3 month journey that took 3-4 trips through the service department, all the while never truly figuring out what the issue was (something to do w/ the emissions system). All the while, the two service front desk employees Tory and Cory were great, always providing a loaner (I live 90 minutes away). I lived in loaners more than I did my own vehicle. After what all thought was the final repair, less than 40 minutes after I picked the diesel Mazda up (mind you, this is the only diesel Auffenberg Mazda had encountered before), the check engine light was on once again. I called Jon and said I was done. I needed out of the diesel. After several days, Jon had me in a brand new Mazda, no diesel, and I am extremely pleased. The way the service representatives handled the situation throughout the 2.5 month ordeal, how they handled my frustrations, and their own as they were trying everything they could to figure out the car's issues, was nothing short of amazing. This situation was awful; however, because they worked hard w/ me and among themselves to make everything right, I have nothing but appreciation and gratitude for Jon, Tory, and Cory. Worst service department and general manager. Took my CX-9 in for warranty repair work. Waited one and a half months after the warranty service was approved AND the parts were in. Was told that my vehicle was not a priority. Offered to sell my vehicle to the dealership. General manager of the dealership agreed to the offer and then backed out. Was told by the dealership that the service was completed. Wife picked my vehicle up and had catastrophic engine failure on the interstate less than 1 hour later. After arguing with the general manager, they agreed to tow it back and redo the work. I went to speak with the general manager about these issues and was berated and yelled at in their parking lot. I do not recommend getting ANY service done at this dealership. Their general manager's behavior was completely unacceptable. read more

Worst experience ever. Sales person is super nice when you buy the car. However, finance manager, Mark, is aggressive and rude. I went to the dealership twice to cancel my extended warranty and maintenance plan. Every time I was told that my principle will go down after 6-8 weeks. Now it has been more than ten weeks since the second time I went there. My principal still hasn't gone down yet. I try to call the dealership instead of driving there (it's a 40 min) drive for me. I can't get hold of anyone, finance manager, sales manager and general manager. None of them picks up the phone. I feel like I'm totally scammed. Do not ever buy a car here !!!!! read more

I really don't know why there are so many negative reviews. I love the 2015 Mazda CX-5 that I bought at Auffenberg Mazda! I test drove several vehicles at various dealerships and not only liked the CX-5 best, but the salesperson also helped make the decision. Avoid the service department. When you go in for routine service you will be presented with a list of items. Most items on the list are NOT on Mazda's recommended routine service and are simply highly marked up add-ons. If you just sign off your service will cost you several hundred dollars more than it should. Windshield wipers and air filters do NOT need to be replaced every service visit. If you have no choice, insist that you want ONLY what Mazda recommends. Having the Mazda service schedule in hand and being insistent might help. read more

I have bought two VWs from Auffenberg and have been very satisfied with the service and customer care I have received, so I had no qualms taking my mother to potentially buy a new car from Auffenberg. We ended up at Auffenberg Mazda because she was specifically interested in the Mazda 5 van advertised on their website. She was especially intrigued by the price, because the price was very competitive compared to other dealer websites we had viewed in our research. At Auffenberg Mazda, we test drove the van and although it was more than she really wanted to spend, she was willing to make the stretch to get the brand new van, considering that used Mazda5 vans were in the $15,000 range and this price was $18.795. It clearly states that the price of $18,795 include a $500 military rebate, which she knew she wouldn't qualify for, but $19,295 was still much cheaper than any place else we had seen. Imagine our surprise when, after wasting an hour of our time processing her application with the finance manager, our sales rep offered to sell the van to us at $21,xxx!!! We said absolutely not, we wanted the e-price on the website, and he said that he couldn't meet that price. We left the dealership, and were chased down by the sales manager who stopped us to apologize.I asked him why the price was shown so cheaply on the website, and he said that price includes every applicable rebate that anyone could possibly qualify for, including military, recent college grad, etc. It seems to me that a recent college grad can't probably qualify for a military discount too, so the $18,795 price was pretty misleading. I told the sales manager that I believed this was misleading, and he said, "Well, every car dealership does it." I have to disagree - we specifically ended up at Auffenberg Mazda because your website price was considerably cheaper than any other dealership, and given our previous experience with Auffenberg, we felt we would be treated fairly. I have a screenshot of the van and the price, which mentions only a military discount. We should have been able to buy the van for $19,295. Needless to say, we went and bought the Mazda 5 at another dealer. My mother won't be back, and I am pretty sure that my husband and I won't be back to Auffenberg either. We have a daughter turning 16 in May and planned to buy her a car, but I am pretty sure it won't be from Auffenberg. read more

I took my AutoTrader Trade-In Marketplace price quote here, and they refuse to honor it (or even offer a price at all). If they are this hard to deal with when I'm trying to use a program they are participating in, I'm not going to find out how they are when negotiating a price to buy a car. I frequently buy and sell cars, but I won't be coming to the Auffenburg dealerships for my next car. I also won't be bothering with AutoTrader's Trade-In program either. Alex Wiltse was my sales person and explained every feature of the car in detail and made sure that I knew how to use them on my own, he even set up all my bluetooth features and made sure they were working. I began my car search by calling local dealers. I happened to speak with a salesman at Auffenberg Mazda and he advised that they have a vehicle that would work for me but that the dealership would need to arrange financing at the price we were looking at. I was happy with the price and since I was already pre-approved at 1.9% for 60 months by my credit union, who cares as long as it was the same rate, right? The salesman was very nice but it appeared that they could not get the same terms through their lenders as my "credit was bad." They kept coming back at 3.2%, then 2.9%APR and "adjusting" the length of loan to make it the same monthly price all while questioning the validity of the credit unions rate. I kept reiterating that I have a loan at 1.9%! Only after I started to leave and discussed a possible trade on my current vehicle were they "magically" able to get me the same terms at that price... I then found out from a competing dealer that the vehicle I was looking at had hail damage during the hail storm in April 2012. When questioned, Auffenberg's salesman and manager both appeared "shocked" and suddenly couldn't recall that little bit of information for a vehicle that had been sitting on their lot for almost a whole year. They would have to call their insurance company to confirm. I found the process insulting and left. The salesman called later confirming that it had been damaged and repaired. I was done with their credibility and games. I purchased a vehicle at another dealership with no credit issues or problems. read more

Deceptive practices are easy to find here. My daughter has the opportunity to buy her first new car. Excited and vulnerable she ends up at Auffenberg Mazda. The Salesman, Rick Cumba was the best. Very straight forward and catered to her needs. Got her the right vehicle for the right price. It all went downhill from there. Sales Manager Darren Borrella offer the upgrade at the same price and since it was Mazda's end of the year, they could make it happen. In steps Finance Manager Jason Schrijver, to help dirty up the whole deal. Got financing approved at a good rate and just happened to jack the price up $2500. So forget your financing and I will bring my own pre-approval. They send the bank a higher price and throw in a few extra charges. Needless to say, we gave them the keys back and we will buy from somewhere else. The Finance Manager did not admit or deny his deception. He was ok with me walking away, I think because I caught him. We recently visited Auffenberg to see about purchasing a new vehicle. We thought (and were told by the sales manager) we would get the best deal because last year Auffenberg let my wife drive off the lot without oil in her car after an oil change. This was a hard pill to swallow but we tried anyway. They did nothing to give us peace of mind after that incident and would hope they could at least help on a new car since that was their suggestion in the first place. After checking another dealer we found we could get a better deal even after we told them what Auffenberg did to our vehicle. I would not suggest Auffenberg for the purchase of a new car and make sure if you use them for service to ask to check your dip stick! What they don't understand it that if they would have at least checked our car thoroughly we wouldn't have these issues with their business! They chose self preservation over customer satisfaction! And to get peace of mind it still cost us $8K. At least we can say we didn't go to Auffenberg! read more

I've just moved here to work for the military however, my real home is in Springfield, MO. This morning coming to work and parking I dropped my key in between the seat and the console. I've tried looking for it and I can't find it. So, I call Mazda to see if they could look under my seat to help me find it. I have received no phone calls back and the lady who wanted to help me on my internet from my phone wanted to make an appointment. Really!!! This place is a joke. I'm not happy about this all I want is help to find the key. No big deal. But, customer service is horrible. Hopefully, when I go home to Springfield MO my Mazda dealer will help me. read more

The sales manager was not cool. I don't know his name, he did not come out from behind the cube walls but he made this the worst car purchase I have ever had. I have purchased 5 new cars in my life, 3 of them have been Mazda's from this dealership - this was by far the most difficult and frustrating. The original offer for my trade in was pitiful. They did not test drive or take a close inspection of my trade in until I was ready to walk out. Their "best offer" changed about 4 times. I've been discussing a certain car for over a week wish Auffenberg and I even asked if anything change with the car can they give me a call. I called the day of my appointment and asked if the was still available and they assured me that it was. It took me a hour drive of getting lost and getting directed to the wrong location just to get there for a rep to tell me that the car was sold a couple days ago. They knew exactly what they were doing, the shady salesmen they are. I was extremely frustrated because we've been in contact just so I can be lied to and tried to get persuaded into a different car. How is it not an option to give zero stars? And how is Auffenberg Mazda still a thing? I thought crooks were supposed to go to prison? I have owned 3 mazdas. When I was going through school my husband was super sweet and bought me a brand new Mazda 6 touring. It was gorgeous. However, within 3 weeks of bringing it home, it started making a noise. The noise that will haunt me for all eternity. That noise cost me a ton of money that has never been paid back despite the fact that it has never been repaired. They have tried repairing it about 20 times. There is a service bulletin out about it because it was a common problem on my year of Mazda so they do the repairs for free now, but until that magical service bulletin came out they were allowed to charge us for a part replacement despite the fact that they put the defective part in and never fixed it. Plus they never offer loaner vehicles. The least they could do is offer a unicycle or something. But nope, nothing. They had my car back at that dealership so damn much it was like they never sold it... Except they got my $30k. I was a breast feeding mom with a crying baby and Auffenberg told me to wait in the waiting room while they went to remove a 2 year old defective battery just to install a new defective battery for me and listen to the musical sound of my defective exhaust manifold. I went in to the waiting room and tried to find a private area to feed my baby. Not only was it very public, but it was nearly 90 degrees in there. My baby would not hide under a blanket to eat, it made her so hot that she just screamed. I asked for a different private area and they told me to use the bathroom stalls. I followed up with, "Excuse me? I didn't hear you. You said I could go in to what office?" He totally did not get the hint and said, "No, I said you could go to the bathroom." Ok sir, I will have your pizza delivered to bathroom stall number four while my baby and sit at your cool desk and enjoy the fan. I had an appointment so they initially told me the new battery install and oil change should take no more than 45 minutes to an hour. They were running far behind so I told them I had to be gone within 2 hours in order to pick up my daughter from preschool. At first they said it would be easy. As the time ticked down to T-20 minutes I got more nervous and finally went to have a little chat. He was blind sided by my request to get my wheels back so I could get my child, what a demanding person I am. He said he could try slapping my car back together in that time but it would still have the old battery since they weren't done. Maybe he didn't know this, but if the battery is bad, the car won't start. I know, that is some pretty high level car repair school stuff, try to keep up. So I asked if they could jump me so it would at least run long enough to get me to my daughter's preschool and I would just leave it running while I go inside her school to get her. He said no, it was against their policy. Ummmm, so slapping my car back together just to have it sit like a rock is helping me how? My only option was to call a cab and install 2 carseats in to it. The sweet elderly lady in the waiting room next to me turned in to a mama bear and lost her crap on him. She had seen how they were treating me and she was not standing for it. He was clearly surprised by her upset and he agreed to get my car done and battery installed within 20 minutes for me to get my child. Wow, I wish I had gotten her name, she saved the day. Pretty sad she had to save me from the company that I paid $30k to for a piece of junk. Stinking Monday cars and shame shame Mazda. read more
