They screwed into the headlight itself to make it seem like it was fine.

Deceptive Sales, Incompetent Repairs, and Abysmal Customer Service - Avoid at All Costs! If I could give zero stars, I would. Auffenberg O'Fallon Jeep is nothing short of a scam operation, selling misrepresented vehicles and providing some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I purchased a car from them that was blatantly misrepresented as having a clean Carfax and no accident history--but it didn't take long to realize that was an outright lie. The car had clear and obvious signs of extensive front-end damage. The most damning evidence? The headlight was being held in place with ZIP TIES and screws jammed into places they didn't belong. ZIP TIES. This was not a minor issue--it was a slap in the face to any customer expecting honesty and basic mechanical competence. When I went to replace the headlight assembly, I had to literally bend back part of the mount just to get the new headlight to fit properly. This means whoever "fixed" this car either had no idea what they were doing or just didn't care. And the dealership either ignored it or actively covered it up. But wait--it gets worse! When I called to address the issue, the sales associate talked over me the entire time, dismissing my concerns with, "Well, I didn't sell you the car, so it's not my problem." That's the level of professionalism you can expect from Auffenberg O'Fallon Jeep. And as for their management? Nonexistent. I have tried multiple times to contact the manager, leaving messages, and he has not even bothered to reach out. Apparently, once they have your money, your business and concerns no longer matter. Auffenberg O'Fallon Jeep is either staffed by completely incompetent mechanics or they are knowingly running a con. Either way, they have no business selling cars. If you value honesty, integrity, and basic customer service, STAY FAR AWAY. There are plenty of dealerships that won't take your money and run. This place is a disgrace.

Spark plugs left in my engine compartment

Auffenberg has always provided exceptional service, but I can in for for routine maintenance and well it was sadly hazardous. My spark plugs were changed but all 16 were left loose in my engine compartment and an electric socket wrench was left next to my battery. I left and drove like this for hours. Thank God nothing happened. You can't make this stuff up. Double check their QA/QC. I'm sure if they didn't lose a tool, I wouldn't have known 16 spark plugs were loose on my engine compartment.

The agreement was I would pay the MSRP that was listed but I did not want to get beat up on the trade-in price. I have never been comfortable with the back and forth negotiating tactics used by dealerships and he agreed and said he would meet me there at 9:00 a.m. at 8:47 a.m. I get a text from the dealership saying my appointment was changed to 11:00 a.m. with a salesperson named Kathleen. She was nice enough but I could not get her to give me the numbers. She was more interested in just getting all of my information into the computer. She did drive my car around and put it through some scanner. She comes out with a credit report for me to sign and I tell her I don't want to sign anything till we get the numbers under control. Finally a time after that a gentleman that says he's from finance comes out with a ridiculous offer of 13,000 on a 2-year-old Kia seltos. I tell him that's a ridiculous offer that I was looking more for around 18,000. He goes back and comes back once again with an offer of around 15,000. Now I'm annoyed. I kept my part of the bargain and now just the second offer shows he low balled me at a minimum $2,000. Says my offer of 18,000 is retail. But if you Google my make and model for that year you won't see one for less than $21,500 at any dealership. It's obvious they lied to get me in the door. If you like long drawn out negotiations where you get low balled and then have to go back and forth this is the dealership for you. For anybody who wants honest negotiations I would go elsewhere.

I bought a car from Auffenberg Nissan. Some parts of the experience I was happy with, others I was…read morenot. I went to Auffenberg because I wanted to look at the Nissan Altima and believe it or not, this was the only Nissan dealer in the St. Louis area open in the evening during the week, and since I was in a crunch time was, this was a necessity. Dustin greeted us, listened to what I was looking for, and showed us some cars. He was happy to let us test drive the 2.5L and the 3.5L Altima on the interstate, and he even let us drive far before coming back. He was very passionate about the cars, and his excitement shone through as he pointed out all the different features on the car. In the days after my visit, I found myself wanting the Nissan, even more than the car I had been saying I was going to get to replace my old one for the past year or so. So in that sense, Dustin did a very good job as a salesman. He was knowledgeable, passionate, and really able to get me interested in the car. My situation was a bit unique. As I mentioned, I was in a time crunch. I came to the dealership on a Thursday evening, and just a few days later I was going to be out of the country for 3 weeks. Dustin told me he would work with me to make the sale without my being there. This was important because when I went, I was able to get $6000 off the regular price due to a sale they were having. I later lost out on $1000 of that, but that was my fault. I tried calling him minutes before boarding my flight to tell him I'd take it, but I couldnt reach him, costing me the $1000. I was generally ok with that, because it allowed me to think about it more; I was largely rushing into what seemed like a good decision, but one I may have regretted. I left a message for him telling him I'd take the car. Unfortunately, the message wasnt enough. He needed my credit card number and a few other things, none of which he mentioned when I visited the dealership. This was the beginning of the downturn. Another strange thimg is that when I was at the dealership discussing price, apparently he had a very long list of groups or organizations or whatever and if you are part of one or can claim one, you get a different (lower?) price for the car. For example, if you are in the military, you get a different (lower?) price. Silly me, I thought it would cost the same regardless. I dont fault him, as I think this is the dealership, or perhaps all dealerships. Anyway, I thought about it for a few more days and eventually decided (again) this was the car for me. I emailed him saying I wanted it and he told me the info he needed and I gave it to him. I put down a deposit/down payment on the car. It was good. Eventually I returned to the US. I wasnt real anxious to pick up the car because I had a lot to get caught up on after being gone. After a few days of being back, Dustin called me and said I had to come in and take delivery of the car on a particular day or I would lose the other $5000 off the sale price. Unfortunately he told me this with very little lead time, and he insisted on being there. The end result was I had to drive there in a snowstorm to take delivery on this particular day. I was not happy. When I got there, things got worse. They told me that I had to finance the car through them to get the agreed upon price. I had made my own arrangements of how to pay, so although it worked out ok, I thought this was a bit strange. Then they kept asking me all these other questions about other things I might want. Did I want an extended warranty? Auto Butler? I think they asked about something else too. Of course, I had to decide on each of these things right then and there, and nobody had ever mentioned them to me. I got the extended warranty; I normally wouldnt but Consumer Reports said some very bad things about the car, and although I asked Dusting about them he had no idea what they were talking about, I figured I should get the extra protection in case it turned out to be a lemon. If nothing else, I figure some nonessential thing is likely to stop working while the warranty is still valid. Then he asked about Auto Butler. Auto Butler is a detailing service. They do both the interior and exterior. As for the exterior, it leaves the car looking brand new. Nice. The problem is that they present it like all Nissan dealers do this. They dont. The only CAR dealers in the St. Louis area that offer Auto Butler are Auffenberg and West County Honda; the next closest place is in Paducah, KY. So you have to take it to one of them. However, Auffenberg is the only one that does the interior work. I live 38 miles from Auffenberg, on the opposite side of the city. So its a major pain to take the car there. Bottom line, dont get Auto Butler. Also, make sure you ask about extras when you visit. You dont want to be surprised when you are ready to sign on the dotted line.

I said if I ran my business like them I wouldn't have a business...his response "oh we are far from that" not "yeah I am so sorry". Our sales person went into hiding. The only person that made an effort was a gentleman named John Hollenkamp who offered to bring the car and paperwork to our house. Thanks for ruining the surprise Auffenberg but thank you John Hollenkamp, you understand service he is why there is a single star. Don't buy a car here unless you can spend a day waiting to pay cash. Part 2 We reached out to them 3 times for paperwork on service history they promised to copy and deliver..no response. We went to get the car inspected and it failed due to fuel pump 1700. They told us we were getting gaslighted by the folks who have serviced our cars for years who also provided the diagnostic testing (which cost me 200). They recommend we get a second opinion (another 200) or that with full trust we bring it back to them, where they would also charged me a diagnostic fee (probably another 200) and then charge us likely 1600-1700 for the repair. This by far has been the worst customer experience of my life. These people understand exactly what they are doing...I literally felt like I was talking to Danny Divito in Matilda. The gentleman I spoke to John Hollenkamp said hey if you got it inspected within the first 7 days it would have passed . Like what? They didn't give us a second set of keys which we also called multiple times about without a response. a 16 year old with one key and a push button start...we didn't want him to drive it until we had a second set. This dealership if full of non action in everyday possible. Run the other way any place but Auffenberg. Just think Matilda

However, we recently saw an excellent deal on a 2021 Nissan Rogue for our daughter and decided to move forward. We selected the vehicle, met with the finance representative, and completed all necessary paperwork, which we then submitted to our credit union for processing. When the Blue Book value came back lower than the price Auffenberg was requesting, we informed them immediately. Despite this, we were fully prepared to put down an additional payment to cover the difference our credit union would not finance. After nearly ten days of back-and-forth and resolving all concerns, we finally had the check in hand and were ready to complete the purchase. At that point, we were told that another customer was on the lot looking at the very vehicle we had already completed paperwork for, secured financing for, and were prepared to finalize. Shortly after, we learned the car had been sold to that individual. This was incredibly disappointing, unprofessional, and left a very poor impression. Our daughter needed reliable transportation for her internship, and after searching for more than a month, this vehicle was the perfect match, both in features and in price. To have it sold out from under us after we had done everything required was extremely frustrating and disheartening.

I recently purchased a used 2015 Toyota Highlander. Within my contractually guaranteed 7-day return window, an independent multi-point inspection revealed a failing alternator, a bad battery an alignment issue. I contacted my sales consultant, Joshua, immediately to see if management would utilize their internal service department to address these electrical components to save the transaction. The dealership completely ignored my messages for days, hoping the clock would run out on my 7-day return policy. Only after I explicitly stated I was preparing to return the vehicle did I finally get a response. The used car manager's solution? They completely ignored the failing alternator and alignment issues, and offered the "goodwill gesture" of selling me a replacement battery at their cost. Shifting the financial burden onto a loyal repeat customer for a failing charging system during a trial window is an insulting way to do business. I declined their offer, kept the vehicle because the core engine is solid, and will be paying my local mechanic to fix it. They have officially lost a loyal customer's future business.

Mind you, this would be the 3 vehicles previously purchased from them, and zero care or consideration given. Not to mention, Steve- working at Kia, is the most unprofessional and rude sales person there. I would recommend working with someone else entirely if you even attempt car shopping. He doesn't air out after chain smoking outside, and he will call you stupid if he doesn't understand what you're talking about. He is not professional, and I would be embarrassed to have Steve work for any business of mine. Just because he can sell you a car doesn't mean it's worth the reputation Auffenberg is creating with people like Steve. With that all said, three separate and equally awful experiences with Auffenberg in 2023, 2024, and again January 2026. We learned our lesson - do not buy there or you'll be met with predatory practices. We were literally discouraged to leave a review unless it was good because it only directly affects the sales people who worked with us. Steve needs to be fired, and Auffenberg should really have better business practices. After diagnosing the vehicle, Jim informed him that the key fob's chip was no longer communicating with the truck's computer and that the key would need to be reprogrammed. He quoted my son approximately $650 for the repair, including fees and taxes. Concerned about the cost, we contacted CarMax, where the vehicle was purchased. They referred us to Metro Lock & Security, who stated they could perform the reprogramming for approximately $50 if we could get the truck to their location. I called Jim directly to verify the diagnosis. He again stated that the chip needed to be reprogrammed. However, once I mentioned that a locksmith had quoted a significantly lower price, his demeanor changed noticeably. From that point forward, I found his communication unprofessional, and my calls were repeatedly dismissed. We arranged for Angelo's Towing to transport the truck to Metro Lock & Security. During this process, I repeatedly attempted to pay the diagnostic fee before the tow occurred to avoid any issues. Unfortunately, I was met with delays and runaround responses. Angelo's Towing was so accommodating that they even offered to pay the diagnostic fee on my behalf and add it to my towing bill because I was coordinating everything remotely from Texas while my son was out of state performing military funeral honors in Indiana. In contrast, Angelo's Towing and Metro Lock & Security were professional, courteous, and helpful throughout the process. Unfortunately, my interactions with Jim and Megan were often rude and condescending. Once Metro Lock & Security received the truck, they quickly discovered that there was no chip inside the key fob at all. They explained that this was the reason the truck would not start. When they spoke with my son, he recalled changing the battery earlier that day and realized the chip may have accidentally fallen out. This raises an obvious question: if the chip was completely missing, how was the original diagnosis that the chip simply needed to be reprogrammed? Metro Lock & Security replaced the missing chip, programmed it successfully, and even provided my son with a military discount. The total cost was only $66, compared to the approximately $650 quote we received from Jim. I was originally quoted a diagnostic fee of $108.80, but when I was contacted for payment, the total had increased to $119.67. When I questioned the difference, I was simply told that the additional amount was for "shop fees." Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this company. We are extremely grateful to Angelo's Towing and Metro Lock & Security for their honesty, professionalism, and willingness to help a young servicemember when he needed it.

Okay, cool, let's do that, since we drove 2 hours one way, and didn't want to do the drive the following day. THEN the finance guy came over and immediately discredited the current warranty and started trying to sell the extra warranty. We made it clear we were not interested in any addons, period. Then we went to his finance office, and he immediately tried to sell us their extra warranty. I kid you not, we told this guy no at least 10 times, he then left to go call someone, and then came back, and his whole demeanor changed, and he was clearly annoyed he didn't get that sale. Then, after he is just handing papers to my husband, without going over it at all, I see that the interest rate is .15% HIGHER than what we agreed to. When I brought it up, the finance officer acted like he wasn't told that, and acted like it wasn't really a big deal. THEN he conveniently forgot to put the sales tax in the note, and we had to redo the paperwork. As we were leaving, the sales guy handed us the second key, which was all taped up with electrical tape. Then today I noticed the seatbelts are twisted (silly thing, but it's super annoying they didn't fix it.) There are two stains on the roof on the inside. Overall, we do like the car, but if we could take it back, we would, on the principle of the experience, after we slept and reflected on it, but their policy is only 150 miles/7 days, and that's literally our drive home.
