    Chocolate pairing with Pinot Noir
    Tracy D.

Squeezed in a tasting here, walked in with no appointment, before our next tasting. Had 3 glasses for $20 and a chocolate pairing with the Pinot Noir which was my favorite. Actually came if at the suggestion of the Knights Bridge Winery to try their Charbono wine but they don't have it as a tasting only to buy a bottle.

Highly recommend this winery! The owner Matt is super nice and informative. He pulled out maps and we learned so much! My friend and I split the chocolate and got the flight of 5 which is a steal for Napa area pricing!

Last year on my birthday, I became a wine club member of August Briggs. You could say I was persued by the wine, but it was the whole experience and the level of service at August Briggs. Calistoga is a magical place in the wine country, small town feel and this wine tasting is a gem amongst them. The service is friendly, the wine is delicious and the fact I can come in anytime with a guest - makes me feel at home. I have only recieved one bottle ever that did not taste as expected, I mentioned it and they returned a bottle at no cost. Execellent service as they stand behind their wine. We do two wine club pickups a year, so it's a momentus occasion to visit them, but I love August Briggs.

    Love the wines!

Great time here! The owner Matt is a fun an informative host. Can't wait to come back, you should visit when you are in the area! Call ahead for an appointment, they book up and the walk in availability is limited.

If you want a more welcoming, casual wine tasting experience, August Briggs is the place to go. This place is quite small but charming. The workers are willing to answer your questions regardless of how ridiculous they may be. They spread appointment times to give you enough time during your tasting. During each pour the worker talking about the history behind each bottle. One of the employees turned owner was present and spoke about her passion for the wines. They give you a tasting menu and allow each person in the party to pick their own wine to try. My party came in with our passports and we were able to book an appointment 30 minutes prior. I have to say, my favorite wine was the chardonnay. I'm slowly trying to build up my wine palette to become accustomed to the bolder red wines but I'm not quite there yet. The chardonnay was fruity but it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet. The worker even poured me another splash!

They are known for their pinots!

Even after multiple visits, walking through the castle still feels like stepping into Europe. From the moat and drawbridge to the underground cellars, the entire property captures the atmosphere of a medieval Italian castle, making it well worth the visit even before the wine tasting begins. The highlight of every visit is still my favorite wine, La Fantasia. This lightly sparkling Italian-style rosé is sweet, refreshing, and incredibly easy to drink. It offers bright notes of strawberry, raspberry, and mixed berries, balanced by a gentle fizz that keeps it from feeling overly sweet. It's the kind of wine that both casual wine drinkers and enthusiasts can enjoy. Served chilled, it's especially refreshing on a warm Napa afternoon and pairs wonderfully with desserts or simply as a relaxing treat on its own. Beyond La Fantasia, the winery consistently produces excellent wines across its portfolio. One of the perks of being a member is having access to exclusive releases and special tastings that aren't always available to the public. The staff is knowledgeable, welcoming, and never pushy, which makes every visit enjoyable and relaxed. There are countless wineries in Napa, but few combine architecture, atmosphere, and wine quite as successfully as Castello di Amorosa. Whether it's your first trip to Napa or your tenth, this is a place worth returning to again and again. And somehow, I never seem to leave without bringing a few bottles home.

Romeo holds a special place in our hearts because we visited them a little over seven years ago. During that experience (which you can read about in my previous review - if interested), my wife and I had a grand experience with former Business Manager Emma, who administered the delicious tastings. Fast forward to the present, we looked forward to enjoying a glass of their finest red before finding lunch. Upon entering the walkway, we were enthusiastically greeted by an employee named John who quickly ushered us to a vacant table for two. My wife had a slight reaction to the beautiful flowers that were in full bloom. Out of the kindness of his heart, John provided my wife with a bottle of Pure Leaf tea that calmed her allergies. We told John that we were interested in enjoying a glass of red, in which he quickly ran off and returned with a bottle of 2009 Eugenia Cabernet Sauvignon. Upon doing the swirl and sniff test (sounds dirty doesn't it?), I knew that we were in for a treat. Since we were both in dire need of a meal, we sadly could not continue the party. However, we will make a return visit in the near future to enjoy a full tasting experience!

I wish I would've gotten something special for my occasion while there. Like a signed bottle or something marking the special occasion. It was just the perfect experience all the way around. interesting that it was also the 50th anniversary of the Chardonnay that made Chateau Montelena & Napa Valley famous. Of course, we checked out and bought 2 bottles of reds at the end of the tasting without even thinking about buying the white. So disappointed that didn't occur to me to this morning. I mean the red cab's are just to amazing on there own. Ok so here is how the visit went. When we showed up early at 9:30am, we actually meant to just walk around the lake and view the birds. We made no reservations as we figured the place was fully booked for months. So we just wanted to at least see the famous vineyard.. we drove up and we immediately noticed the beautiful grounds. I mean stunning in every way. We even watched and photographed a beautiful white swan gracefully move throughout the lake. Afterwards, we walked up the path to the chateau and was presented with a old historic and charming building residence. Absolutely stunning, a complete representation of the movie bottle shock. We continued to walk around the building where we were allowed to enter the wine tasting room. At first, we were unsure of what to expect. I believe her name was Lynn invited us to have a tasting. Everyone was so gracious and nice. Just felt so sophisticated & elegant in every way. Lynn was so nice and inviting that I just wanted to say thanks to her again. You made our tasting feel amazing. We ended up buying 2 bottles of red cab when we were there to avoid paying for the tasting. I mean I'm so happy that I got to experience this winery. The history and quality wine making really is the standard for the area. A complete must visit if your ever in Calistoga. Thank you.

A cozy tasting room, with intimate seating and a really fun selection of wine unlike anything I've ever had. I see a couple of reviews here complaining about party size limits and the timing of final tastings. I unfortunately witnessed the same level of entitlement from a group of 13 people who came in asking to be seated 45 min before closing. First, read the web site. Tasting room rules and requirements have been changing since COVID. This should be nothing new. It was kindly explained to the large group that the tasting room was full, that they only accept small parties, and the last tasting is at 4 pm. Once, that detail was explained to one person in the group, another would ask the same questions and would receive the same answer. Hannah politely declined THREE DIFFERENT PEOPLE in the group before their final entitled and 'intimidating tactic': asking Hannah or Alyssa if they were the owners (they are not). The woman declared "we're all business owners and we wouldn't turn away a party of 13 people that could bring money into our business". Good for you, 'Susan'! Tank employees are purely following their business policy, which is clearly stated on their web site and don't run your business. Her final intimidation tactic was to ask for the owner's information-- which she didn't take--and the group finally left. Good riddance. Tank is NOT the winery for you, Other than the experience of yet another group of entitled wypipo ruining the tasting experience of those of us already there, we had a wonderful experience, bought a membership, and will be back again. This is the atmosphere and environment that my partner and I enjoy with the types of kind and knowledgeable employees we love who will smile through all types of garbage shoveled at them with no problem. If folks complaining about arbitrary things had othered to look at the website for specifics, perhaps they'd move on instead of trying to intimidate their way into another situation
