I came here to karaoke for my bday last weekend. I love how beautiful they decorated the room. It's also convenient that they allow you to bring your own snacks and drinks. I munched on hot Cheetos and drank soju and had a great time singing the night away! We got two mics. One was louder than the other and even though we asked the staff, they "fixed" it but didn't really. When selecting songs from YouTube on the screen, we had to be sure to pick videos that had lyrics. We went here for a friend's birthday and had so much fun! The girl at the front was polite and welcoming. The rooms were all very nice. The restroom was clean. They give you covers for the mics, which is very appreciated! My only gripe is that it was hot in the room and no way to adjust the air. Also, water is $3 per bottle so I'd recommend bringing some. Other than that, finding songs and controlling the screen/volume was easy once explained. This is definitely a good time for a good price. read more

My friends and I came here for a friend's graduation and it was so much fun. We were able to bring snacks and we rented the room for an hour, and we had such a blast. I do wish they had more songs in the queue we did have to YouTube a few and just sing along. Also loved how every room had a different theme. read more

I've been here quite a few times but this most recent felt like the biggest rip off ever. The room I rented was $69 an hour, I put the deposit down for that first hour and extended by 2 as the night went on. They charged me $333 on top of what I paid. Never again. I booked August Karaoke Box for my friend's birthday and we went last night. I highly recommend them! Pros- Very accommodating staff. Very clean rooms (when we left the staff had their cleaning products ready to spray down and clean). Sound system was great. Plenty of classic songs to sing. Ample parking. Easy payment process. Cons- Online booking process was a tedious- I had to make an account, wait for approval etc. Song selection system slowed us down a little with trying to locate English songs but we found most of them in the end. I wouldn't come here again. The place wasn't very clean and the equipment kept malfunctioning, mics kept losing power and the sound kept adjusting, mics higher than the tv, feedback was hurting to the ears, etc. the service was also not so good. Anytime we asked for things to be fixed, the man would come inside and not say excuse me. Went right behind my partner and did not say excuse me at all in a tight space. I found that to be weird especially because is attire was sweatpants. I honestly think we shouldn't have paid for this experience. We won't be coming back though. read more

This is a great concept but is executed incredibly poorly and unprofessionally. We showed up on time only to stand and wait for 10 minutes while the employee was on the phone. I decided to navigate ourselves to our own room only to discover it was much too small for our party size even though that is what an employee told me to reserve. There was even a sign on the wall saying we were limited to six people and we had seven. But even then, these rooms are incredibly small and the furniture is under scaled. Since we were the only people there, I asked if we could upgrade to a larger room at no cost and he said yes and puts us in a room that we liked, got settled in and then he came back and said no you can't be here my boss will get mad at me it's VIP and moved us to another room. So that's a good 15+ minutes of time we didn't get out of our two hours. Then an hour and a half in he burst through the door and says that we were half hour over and I said "No, I booked it for 2 hours." He looked confused. Every song we wanted we had to look up on YouTube and watch commercials. And settings were difficult or not able to change (like the reverb) and the employee couldn't help. We promptly left at the 2-hour mark But felt like I could have and should have asked to stay longer. And when we checked out I paid without questioning the amount but was significantly overcharged. And I have called and left messages three times to try to talk to someone about getting a partial refund and I have not had one single call returned. read more

The TV froze up every couple seconds, the room was too small to even walk in, and the sound was quieter than my phone volume. Would not recommend. Nothing worked in the room we booked so they moved us to a larger room. It didn't matter. Searching for songs/artists was a nightmare. We attempted to connect to the internet to stream songs but that only worked 20% of the time. Overall we spent 15 minutes of our 2hrs doing karaoke and the rest of the time troubleshooting. When we went to cash out and ask for a break because of the inconvenience they actually tried to charge us more than the original booking because they had to move us to a larger room. You're better off going to a karaoke bar and avoiding this headache. read more

Went here for my birthday this past weekend and had a great time! i highly recommend reading the other reviews because it definitely helped my experience and what to expect going in. Even going in january i expected not to experience the a/c issues many reviews mention it being super hot, the window on the door of our room (i got the small room, fits 4 people) was fogged up because of all of us being in there singing and moving around. We did as the reviews said and requested they turn up the air but it didn't really feel like they did/it didn't help at all. That was one significant downside but I also was very confused using their website because you need to make an account request an appointment and wait for them to contact you. I had booked the 8th and started the process the 26th just in case and it took about 5 days to hear back from them on the next steps. I received a text after that with the forms to sign and even then didn't receive a clear message stating I was all set so that was kind of a struggle. I also was very unsure on how to book more than 1 hour at a time so we only stayed for the allotted time since a lot of reviews mentioned extra fees if you did exceed that time. As for the music, the search function is straight trash, you type in more than 3 letters and the program just went blank. We ended up just going through the artist categories and sifting through Foreign/Foreign bands which worked out fine. The decorations were cute and the room was fine, i was concerned about the trash fee because I didn't know what to expect but simple as clean up after yourself and you'll be fine. BYOB was pretty cool! I didn't know any places besides the east coast that does that so it was interesting. Honestly had a really fun time and would highly recommend it. It's pretty difficult to search for songs on their system but what we could find were good options! We chose the Shakira room because it had a pole and that would be fun for a 30th birthday but when we got there the pole was gone! Other than that we had a blast but be expecting to pay quite a bit, our 5 hours was over $500. I do like that we can bring our own drinks and food though! read more

came here for my birthday and would never come back. room capacities were not clear online so we called ahead and asked how many people a "large" room could hold and they said 20-25 people. we show up to the room and it says the capacity is 9. it took forever to get ahold of anyone over the phone as no one answered the phone during business hours until we called for the 5th or 6th time. booking process was a hassle and i wasn't even sure if the room was booked until a day before because confirmation took forever and wasn't unclear. booked the reservation for 5pm but they let the people before us stay much later then took a long time to clean the room - we only got into the room at 5:25 and had to wait outside. the song selection was literally youtube music with captions - some songs that came up after searching didn't even have the lyrics. online it says to check out their food and drink menu, but we were never offered a menu. we left at 6pm (barely stayed in the room for 30 minutes) because there was no way everyone could fit. staff would not offer another room or a discounted rate or any other solution after misguiding us over the phone. when checking out, staff tried to charge us the full hourly rate even though they said our charge wouldn't start until we entered the room. ended up being charged $54 for 30 minutes in a large room that we could only do 2 songs in (with captions as lyrics of course). would not recommend - unless you want to waste $$. read more

The pricing list is at best comically asinine if not intentionally misleading. There is a price list with a table of numbers posted on a tv monitor at the front counter. These numbers are not the actual prices that you pay. Note that you have to pay an "additional music license fee" of 20% on top of the prices listed in the table. Adding to the confusion, the price list on their website states that the fee is 15%. This strikes me as an unnecessarily convoluted way to communicate prices. Customers would benefit from having price information displayed in a clear, complete, and succinct manner. If the manager does not intend to purposely deceive customers into thinking that prices are lower than they are, then the full cost per hour should be reflected in the table of prices. read more

This place is so fun!! And just like the karaoke rooms I have rented when traveling in Asia. I took off one star because their pricing can be confusing but the price is worth it when splitting between people. It's byob and food so come prepared! They have lots of American artists but not so much newer ones. I recommend booking more than one hour because it goes by faster than you think. This is definitely something you can do whenever and with your friends, family or date! Fun place for a night out (or a pregame)! The rooms are very clean and cute, each a different theme. Only a couple rooms were filled when my group arrived on a Thursday night so I was able to see the other themed rooms as I walked to the restroom and they all had their own touch to them. The service was great, very accommodating and they offer snacks and non-alcoholic beverages (beer is soon to come, I believe?) but they are BYOB and BYOF which I thought was really cool. The song selection is excellent, there's a whole bunch of songs in different languages and it takes some getting used to working the system, but once you get a hang of it, it goes smoothly. Plenty of different songs and artists to choose from, much more than I've seen at other karaoke spots! I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area, I was visiting and I had a great time here. read more

My friends made a reservation a month in advance for August's largest room to accommodate 30 friends who wanted to karaoke together in lieu of going to a bar and having to wait our turns for hours. August Karaoke Box should've solved that problem, but they definitely did not -- they made the issue worse! They allowed another group to conveniently upgrade to OUR room that WE reserved in advance on the day-of. I still struggle to understand how that happened. They didn't have an answer for us. The solution was to break our group up into 2 small rooms which barely accommodated 6 people each. Those who couldn't fit were relegated to the tiny hallway. We lasted maybe an hour as our friends who organized this tried to determine the next step for us all. And all the while, August Karaoke Box had the audacity to make us pay $3/every person for the hour of those 2 rooms! It's not the cost, it's the principle of the matter. This was an awesome place! A friend let me on to this place. My fiancé's birthday was coming and want to plan something fun! Their pricing is up front and straight forward. What's crazy is that it's open 24/7. You can come and get your karaoke on anytime! They have a lot of rooms. They are all decorated with a certain theme. Each size of room has a different hourly price. The interface could be better and 2 of the songs audio was pretty off from the original song. Of the almost 30 songs we did those being off didn't ruin the night. Something for them to improve on in the future. One was Miley Cyrus Recking Ball but I can't remember the other one. Everyone is laid back at this place. Makes for a good atmosphere to be in. They work with you to make sure you have a good experience if something comes up. When the room we booked had a bad speaker when we started they immediately moved us to a similar room and reset our time. That was so nice of them to make sure we got all the time we paid for. Very awesome place here. If you want to do some karaoke, bring some food and friends to come check it out! read more

I could not have been more excited to visit this karaoke place for my 34th birthday and I could not have been more disappointed by my experience. I came here with a group of 12 friends to celebrate on a Saturday night. My husband and I did our due diligence and went to look at the venue and different room options and reserved our private karaoke room about a month in advance (yes, I'm that type of planner). When we went to check it out initially, we met the OWNER and had a really nice chat about him and his business. Coincidentally, we both lived in NYC for a time. I let him know that we were booking this room for my birthday and I'd done a fair amount of karaoke in my time, and private room karaoke is my favorite. I asked about song selection and he ASSURED ME that he had every song and we would have a great time. Cut to tonight, my friends and I all show up and go into our room (which was supposed to accommodate 15, but our 12 was SNUG) and started navigating the tablet/computer and looking to add songs. And I kid you not, the first 10 songs we wanted to sing, THEY DIDN'T HAVE. And we're not talking about obscure German rap songs, just fun, normal karaoke songs. To give you an idea of some of the songs NOT AVAILABLE, here's a short list: -Piano Man by Billy Joel (actually there are no Billy Joel songs at all) -Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen -I Wanna Dance with Somebody by Whitney Houston -Anything by Frank Sinatra WE WERE NOT ASKING TOO MUCH FOR THESE SONGS. I went to speak to the owner and he made it seem as though I simply needed a tutorial on how to use the system. He walked me through it, and every song I suggested wasn't there. He just looked at me and asked for another song suggestion. I WAS FURIOUS. I let him know how upset I was, but all he could do was shrug. If I had known they basically only have Bruno Mars songs, I would have planned to go somewhere else. We ended up making the best of it, and he did give us a small discount, but in the end, I'm still upset and I will certainly never go back. read more
