Place is very clean. Pet friendly and the owners are amazing. They go above and beyond for their campers. I will 100 be back!!

My family and I stayed at this KOA for one night after a long day on the road. Its location is great because we were able to stop at a nice place before finishing our drive to Acadia National Park. Our stay was great: employees were very friendly and nice, there were clean bathroom facilities, and plenty of activities (like mini golf and badminton) there and a pool. I also like how they really enforce their rule for guests to keep quiet after 10 pm, because it got so quiet. Also it was nice to see the employees constantly keeping up the place and seemed just very happy to do their job. Even though this is unavoidable, the shower water and faucet had a somewhat rusty scent, but once you got the water running for a little bit it was fine. Overall I enjoyed our quick overnight stay here and definitely recommend it! read more

Pulled in late at night after the office was abandoned and closed. Parked in a completely empty area after a long day of driving down from Canada and car troubles. Woke early in the morning by yelling as the lady who owns the place started immediately with threats of calling authorities over 'trespassing'... in a camp site. Intention to pay fully as soon as someone was in the office was explained but the harassment continued. Paid the full rate for a large RV pull in, even though we only had a single car, and the harassment STILL continued as the lady went back on her 'trespassing' tirade to other guests and someone over the phone. This KOA does not represent their brand and usual level of customer service standards at all, and I have no idea why they keep their name on the franchise. Avoid at all costs. All of the harassment, insults, and disrespect you are reading about online in reviews (if they aren't censored by the owners) are completely true. read more

Must be under new wonderful management. I read the Yelp reviews after staying here and was honestly shocked. Our experience is and has been absolutely wonderful. I made reservations minutes before arriving and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. She took time explaining the cabin, fees and amenities catered towards my children. I also have 4 young children and their cabins have a full bed and a large bunk bed. She said it would be no problem if we wanted to have our family of six to stay in the 4 person cabin since we had young children. Thank you for not trying to split my family up just to make more money! They had an all you can eat ice cream social, pool, ping pong, playground, disc golf, television room, gigantic white board to color with markers, shuffle board, large field and a very well maintained and clean swimming pool with debths acceptable for children and adults. We later found out that the lady that took our reservation and assisted us at check-in was the owner with her husband. Sorry to say that others had a bad time years ago but these people were so kind and patient to us even when my children were in the store. We even spoke with them a little about why they became owners and they have a deal passion for camp ownership and love what they're doing. In my opinion this is disappointing example of a KOA Park. This rv park in no way is up to the high standards of KOA. The other 6 KOA parks I stayed at this trip were well worth the premium KOA charges. Not this one. Seems to me tired, rough and old relative to other rv parks I stayed at. The roads were bumpy and pitted. My 35 foot Class A would not self level using its automated system due to an overly sloped site (both fore and aft, left and right) requiring a half hour with supplemental leveling blocks. Turns were tight. Paid almost $70 per night. Truth be told I had far nicer places at $30 per night this trip. read more

My boyfriend and I had the pleasure of staying at the KOA Journey last night following a hike in Western Maine. Between the two of us, we have stayed in our fair share of campgrounds. We wanted to assure folks that the decision to stay at KOA Journey would be a wise one. We called to make arrangements early last week and they informed us that, owing to the recent storm, they were without electricity and water, but offered to put us up at a discounted rate nonetheless. We opted to stay, and when water and electric were restored, they notified us promptly. They were excellent about keeping us in the loop regarding our reservation. The property was well maintained, exceptionally clean, and very well laid out. Campsites are at staggered levels, offering guests more privacy than can normally be expected. The cabin we stayed in was incredibly nice and well apportioned - they even left the light on for us. The owners' attention detail was comforting. Given the nature of our trip, a drive from Boston followed by a long hike, we had to check in late. This was no issue, however, and they even had all of the paperwork ready and had us in our cabin only 5 minutes after we arrived. Despite leaving very early in the morning, the owner still made the effort to come out when we were dropping the key, to assure that we were satisfied with our stay. Loved this campground. They had a great pull through site for us and had a very clean pool. They also had a nice playground for the kids, miniature golf, shuffleboard and frisbee golf course. It looks like maybe from past reviews they've made some improvements:). The staff was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the surrounding areas. We are also very thankful as they participate with Tent for Troops that gives military families a specially good deal. Totally recommend this KOA. read more

I have seen some bad reviews and I honesty don't get it. I stayed here last year on a yearly disc golf trip with a group of disc golfers from Massachusetts. We liked it so well that we are coming back this year. The staff was friendly to the point of arraigning a camp wide disc golf tournament with prizes for us. They made us pancakes and if there were a ton of rules I certainly did not hear about them. It's a smaller KOA, but the bathrooms are clean, there are amazing disc golf courses nearby, the staff is attentive, and the store is pretty well stocked. I am a fan. read more

This place is terrible. I had some family come and visit and they were treated very, very poorly by the attendants. That's not to say that the area isn't pretty, it's kind of hard to screw up the Maine wilderness, isn't it? What you're paying for here is service, and if they're going to treat the people I bring with me (who weren't drinking or making a lot of noise or anything of the sort) as if they are domestic terrorists, then I'm pretty sure I can find somewhere, probably more beautiful, in Maine's 54,2629 acres of State and National parks for my family and I to visit. read more

Games were poor; miniature golf was worn and weathered. Badminton net was fine but rackets and shuttlecock were in need of serious repair. Pool table was on wheels, no chalk. It all needed upgrading. Disc golf was in the woods, but 'overgrown'. (We didn't attempt that) We picked this KOA as it was somewhat mid-distance to sites we wanted to see during our stay. Sites were small, no cable (if you're into that) They have 4 washers and 3 dryers. The day I did laundry I had 3 ppl ahead of me waiting for the dryers. Staff was friendly. We were escorted to our site, which was a nice touch. Sites are small. We also received a 'welcome bag' when we arrived with info on the area. Nice personal touch. Pool nice, but didn't feel heated (was fine for us). Restrooms were VERY clean! (Kudos!) Be careful on the way in! There is a signless speedbump! :o read more

I received the worst service ever at this KOA from owner Patti Grover. My husband and I went to check in yesterday after a long trip, we have been staying at KOA site all the way from California with our 3 dogs and have received only superior service. When I went to check in Patti wanted rabies certificates on all dogs which I did not have with me, she made me write a note stating that they were up to date on shots and that I would have my vet email her the proof. I explained that no other KOA required this and she spouted off the page # in the KOA book that states it's required. Then after she charged me for the week she gave me the campground rules, I was questing the cost if one of my relatives stopped by, I told her I wanted to run it by my husband who was out in the car, when I came back in to let her know we were ok with it she told me "you are staying in our premier site and I don't think you will be happy here so I am refunding your money & you can go somewhere else", I was appalled. I would never recommend this place to even my worst enemy and I can not believe KOA would let there name be associated with these owners. It worked out for the best, we are in a much nicer campground right on the lake with a wonderful owner that was over the moon nice and $100 cheaper. read more

If you're looking for a military style boot camp, then this is the place for you. If you looking for a fun place to hang out with your family with warm and friendly staff, then I suggest you look elsewhere. I went here last year for the 4th of July and had so much fun that I decided to make it a tradition. I even encouraged other family members to come with me and I completely talked the place up. Unfortunately, the woman who owns the camp ground was hell-bent on making sure that we did not enjoy our stay. She was incredibly rude to my family members. Every time we went into the store to get ice, she would drone on about her long list of rules even though we weren't breaking them. It was like she just liked the sound of her own voice. God bless her husband because he was super kind and helpful, sadly he just could not make up for her negative behavior. If the woman doesn't like customers, then she probably shouldn't be working at a KOA camp site. We ended up getting three camp sites for my family and I had to hear from multiple family members that she treated them poorly. I was so disappointed. Her nastiness completely ruined our time. I still love camping and will carry on with my 4th of July tradition, however it surely will never take place at this camp site again. I strongly suggest that if you're looking for a fun place to camp you look elsewhere. read more

My experience was very close to that of Victoria C's. The woman behind the counter was very hostile and treated me and my family as if we were mentally challenged and unable to comprehend the rules of 'her' campground. She very arrogantly informed us of the fee's, rules and well .... more rules of her campground. This campground could be a very nice place if not for the staff. The prices were very stiff, $35.00 a night for a small pull in for our fifth wheel, $5.00 per person to have a visitor plus fees for all there activity areas ( a tiny mini golf area, a few baskets for their disc golf and basicly any other activity that I usually find to be free at other campgrounds) If you want to feel like you're in Auschwitz during World War 2, This is the place for you. We had booked a two night stay but after one of my guests pulled into my rented area, started to walk over to the Shop where you pay and was immediately accosted by the woman who came running out of the Shop immediately demanding the visitor fee and yelling at them about not stopping in the front but rather driving the 20 feet to where my fifth wheel was parked, We then decided to to cut our losses, Take the $10.00 cancellation fee, and head off down the road. read more

We are on a two week trip driving around the NE. Found this campground and stayed three nights. Great place the kids are loving it. Gave us a nice place to camp while we visited Maine's beautiful Acadia NP (about 2.5 hours away) we stayed an extra night so we could rest up a bit. Highly recommended campground with a great helpful staff. read more
