I enjoyed my stay at this historic Lodge tremendously. I only was able to stay one night and wished I could've stayed longer. The place was immaculate, beautiful inside and out, and everything smelled like heaven. What I love the most is the smell of the forest. It was so intense and so intoxicating! It was very very quiet and I slept like a rock. Due to my schedule I didn't get to go to breakfast and I ended up coming in late so I never got to meet the owners but they accommodated me with a lock box with instructions in my key along with a map and very clear directions. I spoke with the owner on the phone briefly and fell in love with her immediately. I wish I had been awake for breakfast so I could've met her in person. We LOVED our stay here! We wanted to find a place that was central to all of the towns that we wanted to visit on our road trip to Maine and this spot was perfect. The lodge and rooms had the rustic woodsy outdoor vibe but VERY CLEAN, and the room provided everything we needed for our multi night stay. We loved the firepit and even during a monsoon the trees surrounding the property gave the rooms privacy with a relaxed home feel. We could not have been happier here. The absolute best part of our stay was the homemade breakfast every morning. IT. WAS. AMAZING!!! They really went above and beyond to provide and well balanced and delicious food even for our picky eater! We had different choices every day and had trouble choosing with so many good options. The staff was so kind and helpful. They helped us to make the best use of our time in the area and we had the absolute best vacation! My husband and I traveled with our two teenage daughters and we all stayed in one room with two double beds and no one really complained - so that should tell you everything you need to know about this property! For the rugged at heart, its a "Gem". Love the cabin feel of the Motel. Cozy, clean and simplicity all in 1. Room is spacious, no closet, not a lot of storage, no iron & board. Who cares about that though, breakfast is off the hook. Made daily, fresh... in their very own kitchen. Pick it up or delivered to your room. Each day a different breakfast ( pancakes, scrambled eggs, French toast, grits, potatoes...do I need to say more). They also have several fire pits to chill out at ( firewood provided) this is your place if you want to get away from the main stream corporate stay away from home. If you are going to stay anywhere, I cannot recommend the WWL enough! The rooms are a fair price, well-kept and clean, and the grounds are fun to explore, including a wonderful trail that runs behind the buildings. They've renovated it so everything is updated while still retaining that rustic cabin-y feel. Some folks say they don't enjoy the road noise since the lodge is so close, but it's honestly not even worth mentioning since the roads aren't that busy at night. If you have kids and they want to ride their bikes around front, I'd urge caution, but that's really the worst of it. The staff are amazing. They're all so friendly and welcoming. We we're staying for a wedding not far from here, but on the off days they had fantastic suggestions for what we should check out. They've also got things to do, if you want to take a rest day. My regret was not playing badmitten on their courts--you just have to get the gear from the front office! The shining jewel of this place, though, is its breakfast. This place has ruined all other hotels for me for how insanely good their morning spread is. Home made sausage and biscuits, stuffed french toast, sausage and bacon, freshly cut fruit, good coffee, teas... It was so good we invited my brother who had booked at another hotel to come eat with us! I have NO urge to eat breakfast elsewhere when they provide such an amazing and varied spread EVERY day. Seriously, if you want an amazing spot to spend a week in Maine, pick this lodge. You won't regret your stay here. read more

Made a fairly last-minute reservation for the weekend after 4th of July. The price was amazing, especially considering I was just happy to find a room available! Easy to find, right on Route 1 with plenty of parking. The person who checked us in was friendly and helpful. The room we requested at its own small back patio with a couple of plastic chairs looking out at a wooded area. The room itself smelled a little musty, but it aired out quickly and was clean. the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was included and what a wonderful breakfast it was! Hot and cold foods available, all fresh and homemade. And the women working the kitchen were so nice and friendly. I really can't recommended this place enough. If I'm ever up in that area again, there no question that I'll stay here! read more

The rooms were clean and well maintained. I liked the pine walls and vaulted ceilings and no carpet. Thankfully. We WERE there in off season - still, to use that as a reason for no breakfast when the website - which is outdated - raves about their breakfasts was disappointing. I am not sure they will offer breakfasts during the season. It is a good location off RT 1 and close to Boothbay. However, as a previous guest noted the grounds have not been maintained. They do accept dogs. Need to update website and if you are open during all seasons please provide what you say you will. I would call ahead to verify what it is you will get for your money! read more

I love this place. I've stayed here four times -- try to stay here on every trip to Maine. It will not be to everyone's taste, though. If you like a cozy, rustic, friendly place with a good breakfast of real food, you'll like it here. There is no view, unless you get one of the cottage rooms that have a little back porch looking into woods. There is some car noise from Rt. 1 (I like the motel type rooms -- set a little further from the road.) And the rooms are a slightly worn, but well equipped with nice fridge with freezer, and microwave. But, the rooms are wood paneled and cute, feel like cabins, and are very homey. read more

My 15-year-old daughter and I are up here from Virginia exploring Maine, and we've stayed in a few different hotels/inns along the way. This one is hands-down our favorite. The staff have been welcoming and warm. I read the older reviews, and I believe these owners took over in December 2015, so it's changed in a big way. We are still sitting at our breakfast table, and I keep hearing other folks tell the staff how much they have been happily surprised staying here. The rooms are rustic & cabin-like, but comfortable. We are in one of the "cottage" rooms. It really feels like we checked in to summer camp! The site has walking trails through the woods, and campfire pits. We built a campfire in one of the pits, and had s'mores before heading in for the night. Bonus: if you're a cyclist, they've got an on site bike shop you can use! The only drawback is there's a busy road outside, and I was worried we wouldn't sleep well. However, with the room A/C fan on, we couldn't hear the traffic at all. We slept fabulously. The location is ideal for day trips to Boothbay or Pemaquid. read more

New owners since December. Beautiful grounds. Delicious breakfast and kind staff. The community room has a nice fireplace. You have newspapers magazines and books. The rooms are comfy and clean. The pillows are great which is something I always look for. This hotel is located right off route 1. It is a loud busy street but the hotel is nestled behind trees and a slightly winding road that leads to the office and the rooms. The rooms have a nice little bench to sit in and enjoy the views. There are seating areas on the grounds and 2 fire pits. You can get a Smores kit and the fire kit in the office. If you are a return customer under the new owners they will give you a 10% discount. read more

Decent place to rest your head. Even without a car, the place is walking distance to a Shaw's grocery store, some antique shops, and is across the street for the wonderful Judy's Country Store where you can taste Judy's amazing fresh baked goods every day ( read my review on this ). Despite a chilly night, I relished taking a hot shower, and as the rooms are small they quickly heat up with the in wall heating unit. Don't expect anything fancy. Expect better than motel 6, one parking spot in front of your room, and a decent selection of cable channels. read more

Loved this cozy lodge! The staff were so warm and welcoming to me and my dog. The pricing is great. Rooms are rustic-feeling and clean; most have a patio or back porch. The trails surrounding the property are lovely at any time of day. Plus, they offer outdoor activities like badminton, cornhole, frisbees and more, and they have a fire pit for relaxing in the evening. Breakfast is offered with every stay and it's delicious! We stayed for 2 nights at the motor lodge. There was free wifi, a large comfortable bed, an in room fridge, a nice flat screen tv, and a decently sized bathroom. The ceiling clearly shows sign of water damage, with a stain and some sagging, but overall the room was nice. They indicated that there was "breakfast" but this turned out to be just toast and coffee. Overall, a decent stay. read more

The location is excellent for access to all the places we wanted to visit. The grounds were beautiful. Like being in a well cared for woodland. The rooms were cozy with lots of wood paneling. We drove to Maine from Colorado to have lunch at Red's Eats. I had researched area establishments and really liked the sound of this Inn. We checked in and so enjoyed our visit with the owners. We stayed in the handicapped room. It was just what we needed, big and roomy. It had been recently remodeled and was beautiful! I cannot express our joy at the breakfast each morning! After eating breakfast at all the generic motels along the way ...were we happily surprised. Each morning there was a quiche or blueberry pancakes or little muffin cup egg dishes. There were cobblers and fruit breads each day. I recommend you stay at this Inn. It is so worth it. read more

I personally was surprised the lodge was located on a busy road, it was a little disappointment when we arrived. They offer complimentary breakfast, they communicate they will accomodate to dietary needs. I didn't know so I ate things besides my diet (I normally don't eat dairy) but, it was good! A nice little buffet with warm and cold offerings, coffee until 10am. We had a nice and clean room, with the looks and feels of a lodge, little seating area outside, had a great nightrest. The last star is missing due to the busy and loud road and the porches beside it, I would've build the porches on the back, viewing the quieter and greener surroundings. read more

It's not the same owners nor the same breakfast. They did not offer any of the items listed after several days staying there. No oatmeal, no fresh baked goods. The website is misleading. They do what they can but the ingredients are cheap. Dining area rug is gross. Too many tables crammed in too close together. Can't get at coffee with others around. Bad set up. Cobwebs all around, dirty windows. Front door to lobby broke and always open. This lets flies/ bugs in dining area/kitchen. Rooms are not super clean, just ok. Need new mattresses, box spring from like the 70s. Sheets are very cheap. Stains on the old asbestos ceiling tiles. Prolly paint over them. Grounds could be very nice. Not maintainable when grows out of control. All floor decking needs to be painted and is flaking. No where kids to play/be. Right on Rt 1 traffic non stop and the noise. Place is in need serious makeover and could be nice. It's used to be. Place was like a ghost town over holiday week. Staff is friendly, but not experienced enough or professional. Lastly the place is also over priced in my opinion. You book here when everything else sold out. read more

We wouldn't even check in to this motel because the woman at the front desk was so disagreeable. We asked to see a room and she acted very put out about it. She said she couldn't leave the desk, and told us that we should stay at the Cod Cove Inn down the road ( because she knew we would balk at the price.) We found a cheaper, clean new room a mile closer to Wiscasset and were glad that we didn't stay at the Motor Lodge. read more

We stopped for an overnight on our trip south from MDI. The room is a little dated but it was clean. The breakfast the next morning was terrific. They cook it that morning and use real eggs. This is not your big chain hotel breakfast. I think the menu varies, our choices were blueberry crapes, pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, juice, and cinnamon rolls, coffee and apple juice. read more

We stopped at this Lodge on a whim. Stayed in one of seven pet friendly rooms. Small but efficient, immaculate, friendly staff. The breakfast the best we have had on our three week road trip. If we had more time we would have stayed a few extra days just for the breakfast. If you come on the blue berry creps day, or panna cotta day, be sure to try them. read more

Lovely, rustic reasonably-priced motor lodge right on Route 1, with clean rooms, forested grounds, croquet, and full breakfast included. Reminiscent of the lodges you'll find in National Parks, with simple rooms and pinewood decor, and a large sitting room with fireplace in the main building. Rooms include fast, free wifi. On Thursday morning (July 21), Sandra baked fresh blueberry muffins, baked eggs with biscuits and gravy, and a berry soufflé-- a big step up from what you'd get at standard chain motor lodge. They also serve cereal, toast and juice. While some people may prefer the sterile sameness of the chain lodges, those who want a more human, local touch will find it at the Wiscasset Motor Lodge. read more

I was part of a group staying @ the Lodge for a weekend board meeting. The owner was very helpful in arranging accommodations for us on relatively short notice. I found the staff to be friendly and informative and particularly enjoyed my early morning cups of tea in the dining / community room chatting with the kitchen staff as they prepared breakfast. I'm an early riser, so it was great to have a place to start my day without disturbing my roommates. The breakfasts are bountiful!! The Lodge is on RT. 1 a heavily traveled highway, so there is some traffic noise, which good windows help to lessen. Overall a great experience. I would definitely stay there again. read more
