They have bathrooms but were all closed up where I went. I asked a local business if they are just open during summer and they said it actually just re-opened last summer. I asked if the rumor of dead bodies was true and they said that yes there were lots of dead bodies found here from jumping off the rocks or getting stuck in the rocks deep down below. But anyways, on the opposite side of the story.. there are plenty of floating docks for people to chill on during summer. Just sitting there listening to the bird was very peaceful.. gorgeous view.

Lakeshore is a wonderful public park situated along the Tennessee River and offering some…read morespectacular views of the Smoky Mountains. I finally got a chance to come here with my neighbor and her toddler on a weekday and I was surprised how many kids were at the playground. However, we never felt crowded here and there are several playgrounds in the park, with one being in a slightly wooded section. Besides children's playgrounds, the park offers extensive greenways, sports facilities, and even, event spaces. Sports facilities include: baseball/softball fields, soccer field and an outdoor fitness center. On my next visit, I'm going to explore even more of the greenways and try to find the steel sculpture in the park called the "Quantum Embrace." Know before you go: 1) Lakeshore is open daily: 6 am - 10 pm 2) Plenty of parking spaces 3) There are public restrooms onsite 4) Events at the park hosted by the Roots & Revelry Group. Some events coming up are Paint & Sip (April 28th) and Mahjong in Garden (May 12th)

Cedar trees, cattails, and berry bushes are all in close proximity. The main walking path to the island is ADA compliant. If you'd like elevation, this park is on the edge of the Appalachian mountains allowing you to hike up and view the Smoky Mountains. I prefer short hikes and found many trail options. If you're a bird watcher or a novice, you're sure to learn something from the educational bird exhibits near the parking lot. Check the park's social media for educational events. This park isn't too crowded and requires back roads through neighborhoods. Indoor restrooms are available near the parking lot.

And they're doing a damn fine job. This location offers maps, flyers, and all things outdoors to help everyone find something they love and get out and play. The building is located with easy access to the greenway and the Tennessee River. Located on the first floor of the building you will find paddle boards, kayaks, canoes, hydro-bikes, and greenway bikes that can be rented at the Billy Lush Board Shop. Not to mention their super rad Beer Porch. Outdoor Knoxville is about EVERYTHING outdoors. They help maintain and promote parks, natural areas, blueways and greenways. There's no shortage of adventure to be had in the area. There are waters to paddle, rocks to climb, and trails to wander. Something for families, individuals, kids, and pets. Outdoor Knoxville will connect you with all of it.

Our trip to Wild Bear Tubing was definitely one of the highlights of our Smoky Mountains visit. We…read morearrived just a few minutes prior to our scheduled departure and checked in. The shop has a lot to offer in regard to things that you may want/need for your trip such as necklaces to attach your shades to, dry bags, sunglasses, etc. They employ a lot of young people/teenagers, and those individuals helped us to get our life jackets, tubes, safety training and launching us into the river. It's a self-guided tour. No staff members accompany you, but they tell you to stay left at the fork and if you go under the overpass, you've gone too far. With this being our first tubing experience, we were a bit nervous. We ordered the XL tubes (unnecessary) as well as the cooler tube (also unnecessary). The majority of the route is shaded from the sun, and I believe I would've been okay taking one full reusable water bottle. We rarely accessed our cooler and after floating in the river, we didn't really want to snack...even with the use of hand sanitizer. We saw horses, a beaver and a turtle during our float. The water level seemed to be a bit low, with us needing to lift our bottoms to avoid contact with rocks. It was slow-moving and relaxing, but I'd love to return and experience it when the water level is a bit higher. At the end, we loaded onto a waiting shuttle bus and went back to base. Their changing rooms and bathrooms were clean and very convenient. The only thing that could've made them better were showers! We changed out of our wet swimsuits/trunks and freshened up as best as we could. We spoke with the owner briefly, who told us how her sons (the best in the world, she says) built that place for her. Upstairs are 3 apartment units. She was really nice. I also overheard her praising her team for the good work they'd been doing this season, and her hopes that the weather and crowds continues as they have for the remainder (I was in the restroom). I would definitely suggest this as a reprieve from the Summer heat if visiting the area any time soon!

This was a neat park in a GORGEOUS setting, right on Melton Lake. We went for a walk on the…read moregreenway to enjoy the fall weather and this park is easily accessible, right off the trail. You can bring a volleyball to use at the net, or bring a picnic and enjoy the view from the covered pavilion with tables galore. The playground itself has a good amount of options for both big and little kids to explore, with bridges, poles, climbing areas, slides of differing sizes, etc. There is a separate swing area that has a few baby swings, a few normal swings, and then one of those ADA accessible plastic swings, with the bars that go over your shoulders like on a roller coaster ride. There was an abundance of standing water between the playground and pavilion and it hasn't rained particularly hard for awhile, so I can't imagine how soggy the playground and deep the water gets after stronger rains. You also need to pay very close attention to your young ones due to unobstructed/unrestricted access to the water very close by. So, if you have multiple kids to keep track of and/or a runner, you may want to bring an additional adult or skip this one.

We didn't use the 6 tennis courts or dance under the pavillion, but we did use the bathrooms. Husband said his was fine. Ours had a defective paper towel dispenser, but a working blower. We had soap, toilet paper, and the toilets flushed. Perfect! We also walked by the clubhouse. They have a water fountain to fill bottles! If you are lucky, you'll also see butterflies & bees in the flowers nearby. This would be a lovely place to picnic. We'll be back to do just that!
