Wrapped large sub and loaded potato salad
    Dawn B.

We've always called them "chicken balls" at work because they're not really nuggets--whatever you choose to call them, you will also call them DELICIOUS! For real though, best chicken bites (balls) ever. Also had the loaded potato salad which was bomb. Go, go, go NOW!

12 years ago I wrote about how much I disliked this place, so I'm here to update my post! Decided to celebrate the first 90 degree day with some ice cream and couldn't have been happier. I had the coffee Oreo, my nephew had 2 scoops (wanted them in a special order with sprinkles lol.) Service was fast and I thought prices were reasonable!

The reviews hold up! This is a cute little lunch spot that specializes in subs and fried chicken pieces. There's also soup and salad bar available. They have slices of cake and cookies by the cashier - both were surprisingly good. The lunch line can be long but it moves fast. People also order take-out and they set up your order separately in a little basket on the side so you can just grab it and head to the cashier! Although they're known for their chicken subs, we also wanted to try their other styles - the cheese steak and Italian were better than expected. I especially enjoyed the Italian and was pleased by the amount of toppings (as well as the spicy peppers). Do note they don't cut the subs in half by default so make sure to ask!

    Six scoop ice cream flight

Best chicken bites ever but this review is specifically for the ice cream place!!! The kids that work there are such good kids!!! We made the mistake of ordering 3 separate ice cream flights thinking it would be small!! It's enormous!!! lol 6 different flavors!! Enough for 3 people!! Richardson ice cream so of course it's great!!!

Fries all covered in oil residue.

I'm going to give 3 stars today. The food I ordered which was a chicken bite combo was sloppy today. I just want to make sure next time it's not made like this. I opened my fries thinking that it was peppered fries but it's all oil residue from the last fry session. It's all over the fries. I have gotten this before and the fries were fine. I'm quite disappointed this time.

These chicken bites are amazing. This is one of the best holes in the wall around, hidden gem. They have prepared foods in plastic containers too, most of those are good too but the main attraction is those chicken bites! The mozza sticks are good too- will maybe try other items eventually but havent had a need to, with those chicken bites being world class.

Ridiculously tasty chicken and the sauce options are top notch!!! Great options for subs and salads but the chicken.... Next level.

I've been to several and the bigger conglomerates are the ones that have been letting me down the most. In, steps Frangos.... HOLY CRAP WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO THIS CHICKEN is pretty much me every time I try what they are offering. Over fries or in a standard basket, doesn't matter because it's super-bomb! Everyone messes up on the juiciness but you'd think this was marinated for at least three days in some god-like buttermilk mixture because it's NEVER a problem here that you get dried out strips. It pairs well with that Frangos sauce you want to take home and possibly bathe in or slurp up with literally anything else out of your fridge. Situated in an old breakfast spot that was easily my favorite within a 10 mile radius and is missed tremendously, I believe the old owner's sons turned this into what it is now and really didn't change much of the decor at all. Hit up the kiosk or go to the friendly staff manning two registers. Even on weeknights, 75% of the tables are filled with everyone from a group of Wilmington teenagers to young families and their kids gobbling down the poultry. On our first visit, my fiancé went for the Reaper Slider and had to sign a waiver because it's super spicy. They nailed the spice level, however, he thought the flavor wasn't quite there. I went for Mild, which was hot and the flavor was decent. On our second trip, I tried the Lite Mild, hoping it would be even better. He ended up getting the Hot, which was spicy, the flavor was okay. The chicken is fresh and super tender, and the fries are pretty good. The seasoning isn't really memorable. The real star is the Dave's Sauce, even the packet version for the fries is amazing. Pro-tip: don't throw away any extra sauce packets! Save them for home. Overall Service: It was fine, and the staff handled the lunch rush well. It's not our go-to style of food, so I'm not sure we'll be returning. I do understand the appeal of testing the different spice levels, though.

Inside, a long counter a la Chipotle, with only three tables of 2 for dining in. The menu is mostly wings, boneless wings, and south shore style bar pizza. The wing toppings are your typical flavors, notable for two heat levels on the Buffalo and almost as many dry rub options as sauces. -- Wings: Went with Mango Habanero, which was typically sweet, but had a bit more heat than most renditions. The wings were fairly small, marginally crisp, and more than marginally juicy. They seemed to cool quickly. Decent. -- Fries (on a combo): Hand cut, long, a little dry, and very crisp, like Durkey potato sticks from back in the day. -- Coleslaw (on a combo): Small container of crisp but heavily mayo'd slaw for a creamy antidote to the hot sauces. -- Boneless Wings or Tenders: Even though I prefer bone-in, these were the hit of the meal, bringing large pieces, nicely battered to a bumpy texture, with very juicy white meat underneath. I went with the Wicked Hot Buffalo, which seemed fairly mild at first but gained heat significantly as I went along. More importantly, a proper Buffalo, with plenty of tartness to go with the pepper heat. Slightly chunky blue cheese. Friendly service, with meal brought to the table. Fairly good value. The flavors didn't blow me away, but certainly pleased enough to come back and try more of the sauce and rub roster.

The place offers order at the pickup counter, online ordering, third party delivery and there are a few hard booths for eating in. I ordered the Danny's Supreme 12" Pizza ($16.99 plus tax) for takeout at the counter, which was ready in about 12 minutes after ordering. The thin crust Italian style pizza was topped with peppers, onions, mushrooms, olives, hamburg bits, sliced sausage, red sauce and browned melted cheese. There were plenty of toppings in each bite with a thin firm crust, crisp and slightly chewy on the edge. This place was very busy when I was here and my order was ready fairly quickly. I would stop by again for takeout if I'm in the area. I will note that the printed menu prices need to be updated with the store online pricing, which is slightly higher on some items. The third party delivery app prices are at least 15-20 percent higher than the in-store and store online ordering system pricing.

An item by item review: GARLIC KNOTS: at the nexus of crispy and chewy, very garlicky, would definitely get again. BUFFALO MOZZARELLA STICKS: ...they're mozzarella sticks bathed liberally in buffalo sauce. I'll give them points for thinking outside the box, and it definitely doesn't NOT work, but the sauce killed any crispiness the sticks might have had. An interesting experiment, but doesn't need a repeat. ROASTED RED PEPPERONI PIZZA- another reviewer noted that Danny's is in the old Pini's location, and I could definitely pick up the Pini's DNA; the RRP pizza was one of my standbys for many orders from the Somerville Pini's, many many MANY moons ago. As to the quality: it's a pretty dang good crust, on the scale of suburban New England pizza crusts, with good chew, some crispiness, and a nice flavor. My wife is extra particular about her crust and she ranked it above Sal's, our previous pizza crust benchmark. THAT SAID: Danny, dude... dial it back a bit on the cheese, okay? This thing was unnecessarily greasy, and it detracted somewhat from what was otherwise a pretty good pizza experience. I anticipate pretty soggy leftovers, which, I mean, I'll eat, but... a little less cheese and grease could take this pie to another level. BUFFALO CHICKEN SALAD- I didn't have any but my wife said it was good, with crispy tenders and fresh veggies. STEAK OF THE GODS SUB- despite the promising name, this was the weak point of the order, more like a steak for a minor demigod or perhaps an archangel or other divine servant. Thoughtfully packed and not too greasy/soggy, a common problem with delivery steak subs, but woefully underseasoned. Salt-N-Pepa are more than just a 90s hip hop group, they're a quick service cook's best friends. Learn to love 'em, Danny! Overall, it was a solid effort, and we'll definitely check out some of the rest of their menu in the future.
