My wife and I on a recent trip to California found this place on the way home to Phoenix last night. For $27 each we got a Buffett of all you can eat lobster tails, crab legs, shrimp and steaks along with other goodies. I am not a fan of buffets, but this one is hands down GREAT!!! I ate so many lobster tails and scallops and the dessert(creme brûlée ) capped the night off. For the price, $13.95, this is the best buffet I've seen and tasted. We went on a Sunday night where the specialties were Prime Rib and Mexican food. Starting off with fresh oysters on the half-shell and Cajun shrimp, which were delicious, we moved on to the entree. The Prime Rib is carved as you like it, my was medium rare and is tender and wonderful. I cut mine with a folk. You can add horseradish and/or "au jus" as you decide. I also had some homemade Frijoles. Wow! The best I've ever tasted! Then, for dessert try any of 30 or so different selections. The hand-scoped Cookies and Cream gelato is amazing. Who are the Locals and what are they Winning? We have been coming here since they opened, and it was fabulous, we could eat at Cafe 54, for less than $15, gamble for hours, win a little, lose a little, and just had a great time. Change is good, but you've over done it! With new MANAGEMENT, new machines, renovation, food menu changes, and FREE PLAY DROPPED to almost nothing, and the reward program - well - is just terrible - all in all, it's just not the same. The last few times we have been there we have won NOTHING!!! NOTHING!! NOTHING!! Machine after machine, nothing!!! Not even enough just to play and have a good time. The food prices have sky-rocketed, and the vibe is gone!! There are too many other casinos in the Valley, that have better amenities and winning opportunities. You took a little local Casino and turned it into a Vegas style venue, with the SAME clientele, trying to compete with Fantasy, Agua and The Spa - not gonna happen. This review is based on my experience trying to eat here at 1am. A group of about 6 of us had just left a family party and stopped by to grab a bite before heading home. We were met at the door by a security guard by the name of Alef who was checking everyone's IDs. I retrieved mine from my wallet while my girlfriend rummaged through her bag to find hers. She was doing this while walking with heels on, and she stumbled slightly right before handing the ID to him. This guy immediately told her he wouldn't be letting her in cause she was drunk. WHAT??? I thought he was joking, especially because everybody else in our group had already walked inside with no problems. I kept trying to clarify with him, and he said he would call a supervisor to "check her out." Then he gets on his radio and says something along the lines of "I got a drunk girl over here trying to get in..." That was very upsetting and at that point we decided to just leave. Even if they would've concluded that she was in fact NOT drunk, I found their assumptions very disrespectful and I no longer wanted to visit this place. I am glad we live in a valley with multiple casinos because I will no longer be visiting this one. I met the General Manager today and its something that doesn't happen very easily anywhere else. He seems like a very genuinely nice guy. Most of the time I come, I do well and win. I have been going to Augustine Casino for several years now. I drive from Rancho Mirage. The reason I keep driving all the way out to Augustine is because I feel like I have a greater chance of winning there than I do in other local casinos. It is a small casino and all the staff get to know you and call you by name. I especially like the casino hosts there who are always accessible to help. The host Maricella is really friendly and helpful and goes out of her way for her guests. I like Luis too, he is easy to get along with and is helpful as well, but Maricella is easier on my eyes. Really disappointed with Augustine this trip. One of the pit bosses said that the min bet at the blackjack table I was playing at was going to be raised at the end of the shoe. One hand later another pit boss raises the min bet. I asked her why I was not being grandfathered in and she said that wasn't their their policy and she pushed back my bet. Two hands later the first pit boss comes to remind the dealer to raise the min bet at the end of the shoe and the dealer just nods. I have come to Augustine casino over the years because this is a locals casino and the slots were loose and the payouts were good. I just came back after the 25 million renovation. I found the buffet to be pretty good for the price. What I did find out not to be very good was the slot play. Others have said they have tightened the slots to cover the 25 million renovation. After I played several different slot machines I never even got a run for my money. Just constant losing machine after machine. My plan was to hopefully stay for the afternoon, but after a little over an hour I left very frustrated. It seemed like no one in the casino was winning, no bells and whistles. As we were leaving a woman said to her friend we can't win here so they left. If not for the buffet I would give 0 stars. There are many other casinos to play at around Augustine casino. read more

Low quality experience, the buffet was absolutely the cheapest and lowest quality one of any casino in the area. The staff were also obscenely rude, not particularly the dealer but the casino host and manager on duty(female, white, tall, brown/blonde hair, skinny) no idea what her name was, treated us like crap. I will definitely never return here, mostly because they banned us, the Vip host came up to us at the table and said out loud that I smell and I'm being asked to leave. I do have a skin disorder that makes my skin smell slightly off but I am a very cleanly person and shower twice daily. So they kicked us out that night for this reason and discriminated against me and my mother. On top of that we did decide to come back once for some slot play because there slots were somewhat decent. And this is after the ban expired(30 days). Within 20 minutes after having dropped 300$ a ton of security Guards show up and rush us off the property as quickly as possible, with a permanent ban. Amazing the way this low class Indian scum hole can treat people. It's really hard to believe, much better off sticking to the Spotlight, Spa or Morongo. This place is wayyyy out of the way, tiny, beyond discriminatory and as rude as could be. The only staff member that treated us with the utmost respect was a super kind African American gentleman that was the slot manager I think. He needs a job at a better place!!! I get so tired of people talking about what a casino should have given them. Instead I'm going to tell you what you get and why I play at this casino. I'm giving this casino a good rating because of the careful thought management has put into the casino and because they deserve it. Augustine Casino just did a major upgrade. It looks really good. I assure you. I have no reason to lie about this. This casino is not a dump. If your the kind of person who walks in a casino and says I don't like this and I don't like that. Well fine, that's your opinion. I know there's people like that. All I can say is I'm a level headed guy and I've never heard one player say they are never coming back to Augustine Casino because of the light fixtures. If you want to start a blog about the best carpet patterns in Las Vegas Casinos, hey more power to you. The casino is small. Get over it. You can only play so many machines at the same time. Sign up for a players card and ask for two. If your a person that plays two machines at the same time, you can have a player card in both machines and get points on both machines while your playing. Obviously on a Saturday night you might not be able to play two machines, but pretty much any other day and time, go for it. Parking at this casino is ridiculously good. Fifty percent of the parking is on the right side of the casino, and the other fifty percent is on the left side with ample handicap parking on both sides. What this means is no matter how busy the casino is your maximum walk is only fifty yards to an entrance. This next point I can not stress enough. The Valet Service is amazing. It is exactly in the front entrance. Right in the middle of the casino. You pull up. Tell the attendant you first name. He hands you your slip. I kid you not. You walk fifteen feet to the door. Once you enter you are right int the middle of the casino. Not on the side like every other casino, where you may have to walk the entire length of the casino to get to a certain area. You are right in the middle. No other casino has it set up this way. This is as good as it gets folks. Because of its small size and excellent parking this is the only casino you should consider if you are slightly older or have an issue walking. In a wheel chair or scooter. I see casino regulars in there weekly in wheel chairs. They are having just as much fun as everyone else. Everyone equates small as bad and big as better. I've gone to casinos with my parents and literally given up trying to find them. At Augustine Casino you can find someone within fifteen minutes. Become a regular like me and get to know the staff and you can ask them if they have seen your parents and they can literally tell you exactly where they are in two seconds. Remember this when you are trying to find a friend or loved one at a gigantic casino. Also remember it doesn't matter if that nice beautiful casino has 4,000 machines. You can only play one machine or two at a time. Think about it. Because many of the customers at Augustine are older or have trouble walking Augustine provides an exceptional service. It is so ingrained. They will never get rid of it. The people who walk around and make change can also cash your ticket from your machine. Understand how powerful this is. You hit the service button on the machine. The slot attendant comes. You hand them your ticket you just printed from the machine you were playing. They scan it and give you your cash money. If your ticket is $92.11. The slot attendant counts out $92.11 and give it to you. Yes even the eleven cents. Have multiple tickets, not a problem. If you have three tickets give him the three tickets and he scans them all and comes up with the total. He gives you the cash right there. You've been sitting down the whole time. You never have to leave your machine. All the people who give this casino one star, find this service at another local casino. You won't. The casino has two bars. What this does is it cuts the casino in half for the waitresses. If you are at a machine and want a drink ask a waitress as she walks by. The service is just as fast or faster than at other local casinos. If your machine freezes up the people who make change can fix most issues. However if they can't there are always slot attendants that actually fix the machines. They call him. He comes and fixes your machine right there. It happens very quickly. Understand this. At other casinos to save money, If the machine freezes, they cash out your ticket and turn off the machine. The machine may not get looked at and fixed for several days. If this is your favorite machine your out of luck. At Augustine Casino the guy troubleshoots it. Fixes it, and you keep playing. Big difference. I can not stress this enough, all this happens very quickly. Augustine Casino has what matters to me as a player. Locals go there. You should too. read more

They have set back the machines to guarantee you will lose your money quickly and when you comment to the extremely rude manager about that, he suggests you play elsewhere if you don't like it. I won a few bonuses, and was up, but like always put my winnings right back in. I wish I could say the service at the deli was good, but it was horrible. They should've done a remodel on hiring new employees. The guy and girl working the registers last night were goofing off and didn't have good customer service at all. At the least they were terrible, and even called numbers beyond a lady that was in front of us. Which caused her to wait a good 20 minutes for her food. We were done eating and she was still waiting. This casino is not the biggest or best place you've ever seen, but it has some very good things going for it. First of all, its very easy to find parking and get inside. Second, there is decent selection of games, both machines and table games. The dealers are friendly and the waitresses are fast.
