My friends and I recently spent a long weekend in Palm Desert, and our group of nine ended up eating at Agave Bar & Grill three different times during our stay. That alone should tell you something! What really made our experience special was our server, Edwin. Managing a table of nine women is no small task, but he handled it with patience, professionalism, and a great sense of humor every single time. He was attentive without hovering, kept drinks filled, made sure orders were correct, and somehow managed to make all of us feel welcome and well taken care of. On our final visit, Edwin went above and beyond by making special birthday shots for my friend Candy and me. It was such a thoughtful gesture and a fun way to celebrate. I'll be honest, hotel and resort restaurants aren't usually my favorite part of a trip. But Edwin was one of the people who helped make this vacation memorable for our group. We stopped in for adult time, drinks only. Its a small little place in the lobby building. Behind the gift shop/store. Has some outdoor seating but it was too windy that night. We grabbed seats at the bar. We were the youngest folk in the place with an average age of 60. Alan was working the bar and some tables. He was nice. My husband's first drink, he questioned if there was alcohol in it. After that he went name brand liquor. I had a blue willow frozen drink. It was tasty and Alan topped me off with the extra. Overall it was a decent pkace to escape the kids for an hour but this wouldn't be a typical place we choose. read more

Amazing service from Alan! It was extremely hot outside, so we decided to relax at the bar and watch the soccer game. As first-time guests, this ended up being our favorite part of the stay. However - the margarita we ordered for $18 advertised "edible rose petals" and "rimmed with black lava salt" neither of these came out with the drink & the waiter said " sorry I guess we don't have those things". On Friday night there is a barbeque menu as a special. We all opted for something in it. The food was decent. 3 - 4 stars. Where they fell down was the service. We were seated outside. About 20 minutes later a waitress showed up and took drink orders. My old fashioned came about 20 minutes later. Our very wonderful waitress was simply spread too thin, as was the one bartender. I'm so disappointed I'm a gay man that has gone there since they opened but today I walked in and sat down at the bar and the person next to me decided to move over for reasons I didn't know till the man looked at the bartender and did something and the bartender laughed and I felt so embarrassed in front of everyone that could see and I felt leaving but the girls next to me left so I moved over so I didn't make the person next to me uncomfortable and the bartender was to so interested in his phone talking sports and ignoring everyone else I'm so disappointed and this is where I can unwind because of my cancer that I'm dealing with but I was wrong and I let him know in his tip and I'm a heavy tipper but that's over. I'm very sad and disappointed with today I had really bad news from my doctor and now here at the only water hole I was loyal to but I don't think I will never walk in that place again I had humiliation beyond anything else I ever experienced. I started with a fresh and tasty beet carpacio that had candied walnuts, goat cheese, micro greens, and cherry tomatoes on thin slices of beets. The dressing on this was delicious. My husband chose lobster bisque for his starter and loved it. The lobster was plentiful. We enjoyed the filet mignon and tiger shrimp entree with garlic mashed potatoes, colorful mixed carrots and squash, and a yummy sauce. Our server was Paloma and she is so friendly and helpful. She made the meal lovely. On her recommendation, we chose the tres leches cake for dessert. Wow! I've never seen tres leches prepared or presented as this was and it tasted as good as it looked. We didn't have the highest expectations coming into Agave, but everything was top notch. All of the food was plentiful, delicious, and beautifully plated. The chef and their team know what they are doing. Give this place a try! We will be back! The setting is quiet and there are plenty of options for seating both inside and out. read more

Each night we had a different food server and they each gave us the best service we've had in a very long time. We had dinner at Agave and the food was quite delicious my husband had the skirt steak and I had the short ribs, they were both delicious. We also had some cocktails which were good and a wedge salad, we really love wedge salads but didn't like the candied walnuts that they garnished it with. Tough review because it was probably better than most hotel bars / restaurants. But on its own it would not survive... The ambiance is hotel style. I know that sounds lame but if you travel you get it. Not bad, not nothing unique. The service st the bar was great. He was quick. Attentive. Friendly. Etc. no complaints on that end. My salad was just ok. At least they had fresh salad options and not just the usual bar food. It was good... bit nothing special. This place serves really good food for a restaurant attached to a hotel. Staying at the Westin without a car so this was the best option. The breakfast burrito was amazing. They probably served one of the best breakfast burritos I've had in a hotel. The potatoes that came along with the burrito was amazing as well. This was so good I ordered it two days in a row. But it is also incredibly big so I didn't finish both days. The servers were really great and attentive. I also ate here for lunch the first day I got here and ordered chicken wings and a soup, both were fantastic as well. If you are staying at the Westin definitely stop by and eat here. We were staying at the Westin Resort in Palm Desert. Agave Grill & Bar is the place to have breakfast at the resort. The coffee was good. The Muesli was well made. The smoked Salmon plate with Avocados, Tofu had generous portion of smoked Salmon. Service was fast, friendly and efficient. 4 stars because of the high prices. read more

This place was highly recommended to us by local hotel staff. Cool spot. The 2 hostess girls were really nice. They took us to a high top in the bar area. Then the young man who brought us our water and chips was very nice as well. However, we then waited for our server for ever. He would spend long amounts of time at a table with a couple women and other tables with people he knew. I never complain about restaurants and staff, because I strongly believe times are tough during our Covid times. But our server, just had a blatant disregard to us. I had to utilize everyone else there for things we needed. He would walk up to tables all around us and check on them and walk away from us. This was pretty bad. We ordered the charcuterie and they dared to serve BABYBEL cheese. That's a supermarket cheese snack, not something you put on a $20 plate. Also they put some, I don't know, I guess ginger with honey on it, but it leaked fluid all over the platter. Gross! The band that was playing, I was hoping to be able to pay them just to leave.
