This restaurant is conveniently located right across the street from the Mamaroneck Metro North train station. The decor is tasteful and elegant. They have several tables in the front and additional seating in the back. Our waiter was very kind and accommodating. To drink, I had a mocktail. I was worried it would be too sweet because it included sprite and cranberry juice, but it was actually very pleasant and bursting with flavor. For my main, I had the frittata. It was tasty. Some of the broccoli rabe was a little tough to chew, but not too bad. It was topped with a generous portion of cheese. I loved the tender mushrooms. My husband got the cozze. The portion of mussels was large and he enjoyed the sauce. We also shared the cinnamon french toast, which was delicious. It didn't even need syrup as it was perfectly sweet with the cream and berries on top. Even so, they had several syrups to choose from including amber and maple. We met a friend for an early dinner before returning to NYC. The dining room had a welcoming fireplace since we dared go out to dinner on the coldest day of the 2026 season. Shared three appetizers: grilled octopus, Puntarelle salad and the mussels in a smoked tomato sauce. Everything was delicious but the mussels were superb. The entrees we tried were the gemelli, gnocchi with lamb neck and the paperdelle with duck ragu. These were also well prepared and tasty. My mother chose Augustine's Salumeria to celebrate her birthday this year, having a great experience here last year with my dad for their anniversary dinner. I had actually not heard of this place before she brought it to my attention, and was a little wary as the majority of Italian restaurants in Westchester are mid. I trust my mother though as we have similar taste, so I booked a table and we made our way over. Augustine's is located in Mamaroneck, right off the main commercial strip directly across from the Metro North. The restaurant isn't large, and the interior is simply set up with tables scattered throughout the space, a bar to the right, and a prep station in the back where the meats and cheese are sliced; there is also a small display case back there where they are kept. The decor is kinda casual with grey on the walls and light wooden tables. The menu is Italian, with an emphasis on their pastas; they also contain proper mains, apps, sides, and a selection of meats and cheeses. They also have a really impressive wine menu - kinda unexpected given the size and unassuming nature of the restaurant, but don't overlook it. We decided to start with some salumeria selections - we chose a variety and which were all great. Everything was cut kinda thick which gave it substance; it was also paired with cacio e pepe croquettes which were interesting - not the most flavorful and I didn't really understand the purpose of them paired with the meats and cheeses. They did, however, come with some crostini - were they supposed to be paired? Or, did they go with the meats? I was a little confused but wasn't mad. For my app I went with the cozze (mussels); these were delicious - the mussels were served in this super tasty sauce and paired with pieces of sausage. The dish also came with two slides of toast that you *know* I used to sop up the sauce - it was so good, a top-tier app. For my main I opted for pasta, and chose the campanelle. This was prepared with zucchini in a pesto sauce and topped with a few more pieces of fried zucchini. I enjoyed this dish - the pesto made it kinda rich but not too overpowering. The flavor was good but I wasn't a fan of the fried zucchini; it added unnecessary heaviness to the already rich pasta and added nothing to the dish. We also ordered sides of herb fries and broccoli rabe - both were really good, high quality and super fresh. We ended with dessert because birthday - I got two scoops of chocolate nougat ice cream which was super creamy and a great finisher to the meal. Service was excellent - everyone was friendly and food came out at a good pace. Overall, I really loved my experience at Augustine's - the food is creative yet familiar, and everything tasted super fresh. This is a rare instance of an Italian spot in Westchester that exceeded my expectations - I would definitely return for another meal. Happy Birthday Ma! read more

This was our first time visiting, and we had the best time. Beautiful interior, nice bar. We sat by the front windows. We were greeted right away. The server was great and very helpful in helping us decide what to get to eat. We started with a special appetizer, which was their version of a mozzarella stick and it was to die for. After our first visit, came back 3x: 1) as a party of 2 (which was nice but recommend dining in at least a party of 4 so you can try more dishes, as always), 2) as a party of 4 on new year's eve, sharing most of the dishes, and most recently 3) as party of 7 (1 toddler, 2 kids, 4 adults). Service was super friendly/kind though we could've used more water refills. Our waiter was very funny, and recommended great specials. We ordered to share family-style: the octopus appetizer which came with parsnips, bone marrow appetizer (1 bone) w/ 4 crostini and jam, linguine nero (clams were plump), sunday sauce special, ravioli special which was delicately presented, and duck papparadelle (adults' favorite); all the pasta dishes tasted fresh and tender (kids enjoyed the non-spicy ones - spaghetti + ravioli), wonderfully crisped brussel sprouts (adults enjoyed, has a nice kick to it so kids did not try). We had a great evening and we were celebrating a birthday so everyone enjoyed the meal. They have 2 restrooms and a back private/semi-private dining room for larger parties. Called on a Saturday for a reservation for one while my teen attended a ugly Xmas sweater party nearby. Got a reservation and offer to eat at the bar if I arrived early. I arrived 30 minutes early and was seated at a table promptly. I stared with the mussels and I am so glad I did. The presentation was superb. When the cover was lifted, the most aromatic smell of smoke and tarragon ignited my senses. The mussels were cleansed well and some were very large. The toasted sesame bread was perfect for the delicious garlic / tomatoe sauce it was paid with a white that was crisp and light and perfect for the dish. If that wasn't enough, the pour was very generous. I moved to the gnocchi with ox tail. There were large pieces of meat which complimented the soft gnocchi well. It was paired with a different wine. That wine was good on its own but better with the meal. I ended up taking most of the dish home. I ended with a chocolate chip and one pistachio cannolli. I had been dying to try this place since they opened and finally made it for brunch. Restaurant had a back room, making it larger than I had expected. Drinks were delicious (and pretty if I may add). Menu had great options. The paccheri had unique flavors and was the perfect portion size. Really enjoyed the smothered fries as well. We finished off with a cappuccino and cannoli. Everything was very tasty and enjoyable. Service slowed down towards the end of the meal (we were the only ones left in the back room, so we may have been overlooked). Ramps at a Salumeria This week's pick is a salumeria within a restaurant. Salumeria is an Italian deli that features different kinds of cured meats. It's recently Michelin rated, a feat so hard to achieve for restaurants and chefs. In the abundance of options we have in New York (and in the culinary world in general), it's really hard to pick a place where to get a great meal so I use reputable guides, my favorite of which is the Michelin Guide. So a place like this that I normally wouldn't have found on my own, I get to try. I experience not just excellent food and attentive service, I also get to know other cultures, culinary styles and philosophy of chefs, different neighborhoods, among others. For tonight, I ate ramps served with goat cheese on top of toasts for the very first time. It's a type of allium that is rare because it has a short season. Ramps are wild and only foraged much like a truffle mushroom. I could have gone on living not tasting this rare plant, but knowing I did and getting to know it first hand is the type of experience that excites me in my culinary outings. Wonderful experience at Augustine's. Great service -- polite and friendly. Food was great. Octopus: great cook on the octopus. Tender. Good flavors. Loved the added smokiness that came through in the sauce. Saffron orecchiette: a non-protein dish that had great flavors. Pesto. Hint of lemon. Creamy but light. Sweetness from the peas. A bit of "meatiness" from the morels. Pork chop: another delicious dish. Was pleasantly surprised to see that the pork chop was a thicker cut, like a steak. Cooked perfectly medium. Juicy. So much added flavor from the birch syrup and the other components that really complemented the pork. Ended with the honey dessert. A great end to a fantastic meal. We decided upon two sandwiches for lunch, the roast pork and the slow roasted Italian beef. My husband and I dined at Augustine's for the first time last night. We both work in the wine industry in Manhattan and eat out at restaurants in the city regularly. We both agreed that Augustine's was on par with the best restaurants in Manhattan. Each dish we tried was perfectly executed, and the ambiance and service were impeccable. The owner Brie, came over and introduced herself, welcoming us and chatting for a few, despite it being the middle of a busy Saturday night service. We hare still talking about the meal today and have already told several friends it's a must visit. We will be back again very soon to try everything else on the menu! read more

I ordered the gnocchi dish with meat sauce. Dam it was so perfect. The gnocchi were so light and airy. Wife ordered the egg Benedict with pistachio. It came with mortadella . The egg was so fresh and cooked perfectly. We tried the fritta with cheese prosciutto and arugula on top. It was so light airy. Prosciutto was the freshest I ever had. . Topped it off with a perfect dessert which was as good as everything else We met Bri who is the owner. She has to be the sweetest most accommodating person I met at a restaurant. Delicious food, beautiful ambience, and great service! We called a few days in advance and could only get a 5:45 reservation for dinner on a Saturday night for two. Even though our reservation was on the earlier side, our food came out around 6:30 and we left the restaurant around 7:45. The longest wait time seemed to be for the food to come out because I think the kitchen is on the smaller side. We ordered the spring salad and the seafood linguini as appetizers, the chicken for entree, and the hazelnut semifreddo as dessert. Each dish had excellent flavor and you can tell that the ingredients are all fresh. The menu is creative too and appears to change depending on what is in season. They also have a fun drink menu and they make their cocktails look pretty. We will definitely be back! It's hard to find food as flavorful and carefully prepared as it was here. Amazing Experience from start to finish! I'm so mad I'm posting this like a month late (SMH)... anyways here we go! We had such an amazing time, Sam and Brie are amazing and truly spectacular. We sat at the bar having an amazing time with Sam our bartender she was inviting, hilarious and warming made us feel very comfortable and special. She explained the specials, the menu and answered all our questions and concerns. She went above and beyond to make sure nothing contained nuts as my sister and I have an allergy. The space is decorated so lovely a wonderful space a hidden gem. The staff was on top of everything we never had to ask for anything our plates were refreshed and so was silverware our water glasses always filled and the check ins from the staff felt natural. This is HANDS DOWN my favorite restaurant in all of Westchester and probably the best one, too. It's one of the few restaurants in the area that changes the menu in a meaningful way. I'm constantly blown away by Chef Taxiera's ability to execute seasonally appropriate and thoughtful specials. The staff here is solid as well. Owner Brianne and bartender Sam run a smooth FOH and they are incredibly fun to talk to. We love grabbing a seat at the bar and sassing it up with them. Everything is always impeccable and we always leave with huge smiles on our faces and very full bellies. Location: Basically across the street from the Metro North station in Mamaroneck, so accessible by mass transit, which is always nice. Otherwise, it's street parking, which is fairly plentiful, or you can walk there, but I dunno where you're walking from, could be a long walk. Physical nature of restaurant: very pleasant, lot of light blues and whites. Has a main dining room with bar up front, then a hallway with two bathrooms, then a back dining room. Type of food: Italian, a little more creative/fancy than typical red sauce Westchester Italian food, but not stuffy. If you have boomer parents, you can take them there and I don't think you'd have any problems with them being like WHICH IS THE FOOD I NEED GARLIC KNOTS. Quality of food: Quite high, a lot of locally sourced stuff, which is always nice.Having gone twice (2ce), and having tried 4 appetizers and 3 pastas, I think the food is quite good. Nice fresh mozzarella, excellently cooked pasta, some creative appetizers, some uncreative but tasty appetizers (come on, octopus, every restaurant on the planet makes it but it always slaps and gets rizzed up, like the teenyboppers say). The dessert is always tempting and there's usually some weird treats they offer on special, but I can't say that I've tried it. The only negative I'd say with the food is they can be a little liberal with the olive oil. Italian food already tastes good, you don't gotta give my tomatoes an olive oil bath like they are Roman emperors. Maybe Howard Schultz is a silent partner. Quality of drink: I don't drink, so I can't say. Yes, I'm smug about not drinking, my liver is pristine. If they chained me up like Prometheus for the crime of stealing fire from the gods, and an eagle showed up everyday to eat my liver, that eagle would be eating good. We had our pre- Thanksgiving dinner for 8 at this Westchester restaurant. The dining room is spilt into two rooms- one is in front with windows onto Halstead Ave and the train station. The other is in back of the restaurant in a windowless room that is otherwise nicely decorated including a fireplace. The menu is eclectic if somewhat limited in options but specials round out the field with several MP (market price) options. I prefer that a mention of prices is given as you don't want to be that person asking what the price is. The food quality was well implemented- beet salad, pasta with meat sauce, an oversized chicken entree, short ribs, a very small pasta dish. etc. All is going well- decor, food quality, but then there is service. Though kind and well intentioned there were several mishaps. A forgotten drink which stalled our holiday toast, a forgotten appetizer, four entrees served and four coming a bit later. Slow service between ordering and the delivery of the first course. What else could go wrong? How about being overcharged for 7 desserts and over $100? The server acknowledged that it was her fault- yeah no kidding. But no apology offered. My wife and I were looking for a special place to celebrate Valentine's Day. We had heard good things about Augustine's Salumeria so we decided to give it a try. Starting at the beginning, there was sufficient street parking. The restaurant itself was fairly small and noise levels were low. There's not much in the way of ambience; no decorations worth noting, but we came for the food. We started our meal off with a selection from the salumeria. The meats were very fresh and quite tasty. Also it was served with Cacio e Peppe Zeppole and Mostarda (apple/honey syrup) which was a nice touch. We moved on to the main course. My wife ordered the Mafalda. This was basically a Bolognese sauce that was slightly elevated by the addition of grass fed beef and whipped goat ricotta. It was quite tasty. I ordered the CORTI (slow-roasted beef short rib, cherries, red wine, smoked mashed potatoes). It was also quite tasty but not what I expected. There was a distinct taste of BBQ sauce. This was annoying. If I wanted BBQ ribs I would have gone somewhere else. Still it was enjoyable; the portions were ample and the mashed potatoes were very good. We skipped dessert since we had other plans. As we were leaving we were given a cute little Valentine's Day party favor. This was also a very nice touch. I must add that our server was extremely knowledgeable. She recommended a very nice Super Tuscan wine ($20/glass) and pointed out the differences between the available reds by the glass. She was helpful throughout the meal. Some people here have mentioned slow service. We found the service to be very good. I would recommend Augustine's. Even the kid's pasta in butter sauce was super bland and undersalted. We've bought cannolis at the farmer's market from the owner Marc a few times and they're delicious so we were pretty disappointed. WOW. This place is the real deal! I'm always cautious going to Italian places but I was in heaven here. All the meats tasted fresh and imported. The pasta was incredible! Rich, flavorful, cooked to perfection. There are some interesting "non-traditional" dishes on there and then some more traditional dishes. All of which are delicious! Service was a bit slow but there was a part of 20 when we came so I knew it was going to be slower than usual. Our server was still on top of it though. This was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. We were seated in the back room where it was nice and quiet. Our waitress Mariah was very attentive and knowledgeable about the food and wine. The food itself was delicious. The Pappardelle with duck was absolutely amazing and the best I ever had. The fish of the day was a branzino also fantastic. We did have an issue with the beef of the day which was a Kansas City strip which was not cooked right the first and the second time we couldn't cut into. The manager Jennifer and our waitress was right there to help and my husband ended up with the Pork Chop which was out of this world. To make up for this issue we were given an assortment of three delicious desserts on the house. We were so impressed with how well we were treated. The manager continuously stopped by to check on us. We had high hopes for this one but alas we were very disappointed. Started with one of the daily specials - chicken liver sautéed with onions and the fried zucchini flowers. The best thing I could say about the chicken liver, is that it was ok. Nothing special, with a lack of seasoning and acid. The zucchini flowers were greasy and had a sour aftertaste. Next came the pasta This was the best dish of the meal. Morel mushrooms, spring peas in a creamy sauce. Nice. It went downhill from there. The main course lamb was over cooked and not seasoned. The salad to sweet. Really badly executed dish. And the fried soft shell crab for the other main course, was again, way to greasy. Overall terrible mains. It feels like there is no chef in the kitchen and no one is taking care of the food. It's sad that this is another lack luster Westchester restaurant to avoid. read more
