Love this place but I only gave them a 4star because they were out of the smoked turkey I wanted. I did wait in till they were almost closing before I ordered though. So that was my fault. The mac and cheese is amazing and I enjoy their slaw. Since it was a Thursday night I was able to get the brisket plate (Thursday, Fridays). I definitely recommend here. I don't give 5 stars too often, but this is well worth it! My husband & I had the platter with 3 sides & shared it. So much food and so delicious! The smoked meat is so tender & full of flavor! The platter included meaty ribs, a large chicken quarter (breast & wing), baby back ribs, smoked sausage, pulled pork, 3 sides, & toasted bread. We didn't eat the bread because everything else filled us up. We had green beans for our three sides and they were so very good. 5 stars. No hesitation. Everything was good. Beans were great. I got their white sauce on the side for my chicken and it is great. More sweet than tangy with a truly unique flavor. They usually only put it ion the turkey I understood but ask for it on your chicken! Chicken and ribs were cooked perfectly with great flavor. Potato salad was average but good. Service was perfect. Great new Barbecue place. Opened this week. Has been selling ribs and butts roadside but is now in a building. Ribs are fabulous. Great dry rub. No sauce. Its available on the table but you're not gonna need it. Spare ribs and baby backs. Great smoke flavor. Very tender but firm. Cant wait to try the butt and bbq sandwich, (tomorrow). Basic menu right now. Ribs and butts. Sandwich and salads. Normal sides of slaw baked beans potato salad andmac and cheese but the taste is not normal. Its AWESOME. Will be expanding soon. We came last weekend and the BBQ was the best! Tonight, pretty disappointing. We got there at 7:00 pm, and ordered their steak special which includes a loaded baked potato and a salad. We waited over an hour for our steaks, and when they finally arrived , we were informed that they were out of potatoes. They also were out of green beans and corn on the cob. I finally ordered Mac and cheese, (very good) but not quite what I wanted with a steak. This is all on a Saturday night!! I mentioned that I wish they would have let us know sooner, since I would have changed my order possibly. The waitress was not very pleased to hear that, and we finally had to go into the restaurant to pay our bill since she never showed up to allow us to pay. This place is a great BBQ restaurant, really incredible food, but they need to figure out their steak dinners! read more

Passing through Sylacauga, with a group of 11 and stopped in. Very well-executed smoked meats were had here! We had the ribs, chicken, sausage, pulled pork, green beans, slaw, and sweet potatoes. Not a single complaint from the group. Of note, they serve no fried foods. The green beans were quite peppery, and were probably the best commercially prepared green beans that i have had. All of the meats were moist, and the smoke taste was strong, but not overpowering. They have a few meat sauce options, including the "white sauce", which has become common across Alabama----their version is not as sour as others that I have tried, and I approved, though your mileage may vary. This place was way better than I had expected, and I would be a regular if I lived nearby. Should I ever have a need to pass through again, I will eat here. read more

Burger takes 20 to 30min to get and is mediocre at best, fries are very average too. I had passed this place on the highway numerous times and had noticed the large smoker but never noticed the name because the restaurant doesn't actually face the highway. I got the chance to go there tonight and I'm glad I did. It's a very inviting place, clean and modern. The staff was polite and accommodating. The menu was not overwhelming, as is the case with so many small restaurants. This place sticks with what it does best....BBQ. I had a "Russell", which is a sort of sampler platter consisting of 3 meats and 2 sides. I had the 1/4 smoked chicken (they also offer it in Lemon Pepper...LP), pulled pork and baby back ribs, baked beans and potato salad. The pulled pork was good,as were the ribs. The real star was the chicken, which was as good as I've had anywhere. Their sauce is a definite plus, too. I'm still trying to figure out what all was in it. The beans were an asset. The potato salad tasted good but not homemade. My apologies if it was. The highlight of my visit, though, was talking with August, himself. A quiet, unassuming sort, you can tell he loves what he does and is genuinely happy you are there. We talked business and BBQ, smokers and sauces. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. The service was extremely fast and efficient with friendly servers and them taking care of us from the second we walked in untill we checked out. Very disappointed in this "bbq" place. Read below BEFORE ordering the bbq plate. Quite pricey too and they don't even have fries! Ordered the bbq plate w baked beans and another side that was so inedible I can't even remember what it was, yater salad I think. The baked beans were horrible, generic canned beans would have been better. The "bbq" came served on an aluminum tray with only a thin sheet of paper separating the bbq and the aluminum tray, in case you don't know, aluminum is an excellent heat sink. It was very efficient at removing every last bit of warmth that used to be in the bbq. It was room temp before it even got to our table. Mmmmmm cold bbq !! The worst plating method possible. It might have tasted good had it been warm enough to try it. Zero stars. read more

Have stopped twice and just not worth the problems. Ordered bbq sandwich and hamburger with ketchup mustard and extra pickles to go came out with everything. Sent it back came back with cheese mayonnaise just gave up and left it with them. By the time I got to bbq sandwich it was soggy due to the pint of sauce they put on it. I have driven past several times while going through Sylacauga but they aren't ever open. Finally had the chance to go by and have some dinner with friends. We all had different meals which allowed for taste testing (yes! Even with COVID going on!) Their pulled Lemon pepper chicken is great! Their bologna sandwiches is THICK but has good flavor. When it comes to sides I had Mac and cheese, squash casserole, fries, and potato salad (mustard based) they were all great sided. May need some salt for the potato salad. The potato salad and squash casserole both had onions which did not bother me but for others it may be something to note that the wait staff did not know the answer to! My oldest son's name is August so I had to give these fine people I try and I am very glad that I did! The service was fast, but not rushed, and very friendly. The sweet tea was excellent. We came here on a Friday and were able to have the brisket. My son had the brisket plate with mac & cheese and baked beans. I had the brisket, sausage, and baby back ribs with baked beans and squash casserole. The brisket was perfect, not dry and very tender. The sausage was nice and juicy and the ribs perfectly done. Smoky and not falling off the bone. Very tender, juicy, and just plain delicious. August's Barbeque was some of the finest I have ever had. My only disappointment is that I live near the Canadian border and probably won't be back for some time . Pulled pork was DELICIOUS!! Their sausage links are to die for and the turkey will not disappoint. My sides, cole slaw and green beans were spot on. The slaw was some of the best I have had. The green beans were sessoned perfectly and served piping hot. Just the way I like them. The service is outstanding and made the experience the best. Do not hesitate to stop by.
