Our boat had a total of 6 people and there was plenty of room on the back of the boat for us all to fish. The captain and his mate (a golden retriever named Cyrus) were great. The captain in conjunction with their two other boats in the area did a great job keeping us on the fish. We had a blast and caught 15 halibut between the 3 of us and 31 total on the boat, the biggest being a 32" 15-16lb halibut that we sent home for a few nice dinners. The trip was great and would highly recommend these guys if you are in the area. Just be aware, the fish shipping company (an outside company) is quite expensive to ship fish back home, but they were extremely convenient to use and did provide great customer service.

Chris have had before on my very first whale watching trip and she's very very special, adorable and wealth of knowledge. Plus, hopefully, a captain in the making. Coral took the naturalist lead this trip and was amazing. What a wealth of knowledge she is. The captain kept us all safe and informed, keeping us our as long as possible before the inevitable end of our trip. Really truly amazing the whole crew has been. Highly recommend any of their tours. This was my third one and each memorable in their own right though first one was the most memorable 3 years back. Just a minor thing compared to one the well before. It would've been nice to see the whale lookup stats on happy whales. Each crew is thankfully uniquely different, really enjoy each and every time have gone out. What was not disclosed is that nearly every stop outside downtown Juneau came with an additional $4-$5 per person charge, even for locations that are free and have no admission fee. We didn't receive this information until after boarding the ship, just three days before the tour. For a group of ten, these extra charges added up quickly -- we were even told that stopping briefly to take a photo at the whale statue would cost an additional $50. That is not an "entrance fee." It's an undisclosed surcharge for basic sightseeing stops, and it fundamentally changes the value of the excursion. The $750 base price did not provide the kind of private, customizable tour the listing suggests -- it mostly covered the vehicle and driver while requiring additional payments for most destinations. When we raised concerns, the response from the operator was essentially "too bad." We cancelled the trip and booked with a tour operator that didn't charge bogus fees. I would not recommend this operator to anyone.

That aside, and despite my utter disappointment, Alaska Galor Tours, or whatever of the three companies officially did this, knocked it out of the park, from the naturalists Coral and Nick, to Captain Anise or something, it was all ship shape and wonderful. We learned a number of facts and other information about sharks, whales, and local wildlife. On the trip we saw a pod of Orca's playing and frolicking for us then found pack of four humpback whales feeding in same area, not bubble feeding. Nick was able to identify three of the whales, one of them was a female whale that had 6 babies in last 7 years. Hats of to the crew and shore staff that coordinates all this. While I am very disappointed didn't get to the lighthouse am grateful they rescheduled us and refunded the price difference. When come back to Alaska will likely book another route with this group. Do recommend.

Friendly, outgoing, w/ lots of knowledge of the area. She made the ride to & from the Yacht seem like it was shorter than it was. Jen (our captain) & Katie (naturalist) were wonderful. These ladies know how to make a trip enjoyable. Was almost like family outing. Although the whale spotting started off slow, it really picked up in the 2nd half. I had the best time, even though on this adventure I was the only Man. 2 Ladies, 1 Lady and her Daughter, and then my Wife and I. Would do this tour again in a heartbeat, and if I could request these two bonus points for sure. The line goes fast and the employees running the trams are efficient. The ride itself is short, approximately 3 minutes, so the $50 price tag will seem a bit steep. We walked some of the trails and got in ~2 hilly miles. The views were great and there were many wildflowers to look at while resting. A local artist was set up carving a totem outside the gift shop and was incredibly friendly, offering guests an opportunity to carve a bit and take photos. Kids really seemed to like this and he was great with interested families. We did not visit the cafe. I would have liked to have purchased my ticket earlier and done another trip up to walk off dinner-that ticket is good all day-and would recommend this if you have time.

While you do go up really high and you really won't get a view like this any other way- I personally don't feel like it's worth it for the price. They pack the tram pretty full (which hey, they have to with how many people are in line!), which makes it tough to really enjoy the view as you're going up. There are some trails and a restaurant and a gift shop at the top. The ticket does include unlimited rides on the tram, but the lines to get on the tram both on the top and the bottom would make it pretty tedious to go on more than once.

My dad and I went as our special Alaskan adventure. It was my dad's first helicopter ride and the views of the mountain tops and glacier were absolutely amazing. The airboat ride was of course by far the highlight - Captain Brian is a pro driver, making it the most memorable experience ever! Getting that close to such a big glacier is a dream come true! We had an entire hour on the water and saw the face of the glacier from every angle. The length of the tour and the multiple once in a lifetime experiences was well worth the price of this tour. Brian and Julie gave a great safety briefing and fit us with warm life jacket coats and ear muffs. We just showed up and everything needed was provided. Captain Brian is very knowledgeable of the area, he grew up spending time in the Taku River passing by this glacier often.

I booked a 4-hour salmon charter, and it was tough to talk the wife into even that--she gets seasick on boats sometimes. (But Alaska, and Salmon!!) Chris answered all my questions ahead of time, picked us up, and off we went to the boat. He had everything we needed--just wear rubber-soled shoes, and warm clothes/rain gear. Chris had to navigate thru REALLY thick fog in the marina & first part of the channel to get to the fish. He thought it'd break up once we got out further, and it did. He set up the rods for us, and we were off. I know that experience isn't everything when finding fish. Sometimes you're just not lucky. But being good definitely helps...these two novices caught the limit of 6 coho apiece! (That's about 40 pounds of salmon to send home). Since the wife was feeling good (and catching more than I was) she agreed to a little longer on the boat, and Chris was happy to accommodate. Before too long, we'd 'limited out' and were headed home. Chris gutted & took off the heads, took us to the processor (didn't have to do that, but it was TRULY appreciated!--we'll be able to pick up our fish in a couple days before we fly home!) Overall, just a really great experience. Chris has over 25 years of experience on these waters, and it shows. On top of that, he cares about giving you a great time.
