Unfortunately our experience has been extremely disappointing. We were charged over $1,000 the very first day for bloodwork, and given a treatment plan costing around $3,500. We were told she would see improvement in 3 months and results in 6 months. It has now been over 4 months and not only has my daughter not improved, her condition has actually gotten worse. The doctor has only seen my daughter twice, despite promising weekly zoom call check ins. Most of the time he is unavailable, does not return calls, and when we finally reacher him last time- he was extremely rushed and the visit lasted 5 minutes (him standing by the open door). The supplements that were part of the treatment plan were constantly out of stock or on backorder, leaving my daughter without the support we were supposedly paying for. Overall, I feel the communication, follow-through, and quality of the care have been far bellow what was promised. My daughter has missed school, and has been in a difficult emotional state because she truly believed this treatment would help. At this point we feel we need to seek care somewhere else. It has been a month and a half since our last IV therapy and we have not had a single call or check in for progress. I am sharing this so that other families know what we went through and can make informed decisions.

I misjudged the weight of a crate and ouch, that hurt. I assumed it was a simple muscle strain, but I'm no physician. Dr. Weiler, however, recognized my symptoms as consistent with a more serious injury and, thanks to her and her very professional staff, I had an X-ray, an MRI and saw a specialist, all within four days of my initial visit with her. There's no way I could've achieved all these appointments on my own. It's only because of Dr. Weiler and her staff that I got in to see a specialist that very same week. UPDATE: Within 10 days of that first appointment with Dr. Weiler, I learned I'd suffered a 95-percent separation of my bicep, and had the surgery necessary to correct it. Yes. All within 10 days. If not for Dr. Weiler, the injury I mistook for a simple strain could've very easily become so severe that even surgery wouldn't have been an option. Besides that, the specialist to whom she referred me was among the best of the best. Another win for Dr. Weiler. She's got a lot of those.

I wouldn't have considered delivering…read moreelsewhere since all my healthcare needs are met by Northwestern, but my co-worker said that she decided to deliver here when they lived in Mount Prospect (or... Morton Grove?), so that was a nice endorsement since they bypassed several other hospitals in order to deliver here. Anyway, Prentice is a great hospital to deliver at. My baby moved into a breech position, so I had a planned c-section. I arrived and went to Triage where they collected my information and then I headed up to the eighth floor to be prepared for c-section. The nurse I had up there, Sarah, was great; she was attentive, personable, and kind. We talked about tv shows, dazzle dry nail polish, and other random things whilst she was caring for me. The entire team for my cesarean were great. Dr. Auger, one of my ob's partners, was attending my delivery and she was really kind and reassuring. Alex, the anesthesiologist, was gentle and careful to explain everything he was doing to ensure I understood what was happening and ostensibly ensure I wasn't freaking out. He also made sure I was doing ok throughout the c-section. The whole procedure seemed quick and though I've never had a c-section before, seemed to me to be expertly performed. When I was taken to the 11th floor, where I stayed for four days, the nursing staff was great. I was surprised that I only had two nurses who were the same from one day to another in that time. The room was pretty comfortable and all of the patient rooms are on the outer perimeter of the floor, so they have a city or lake view (I had a view of the lake and Lake Shore Park). The food was suprisingly good--I mean I never expected hospital food to be that good (it wasn't when I was in the hospital a long time ago). The food here--at least in the maternity floors--is on demand, I expect at least in part because babies come when babies come. You call the dining team and your food is delivered within an hour. They have lots of choices, and you get a main, a couple sides, dessert, and drinks. Guests may order off the menu as well for $12 per meal, and my guests chose to do that a few times. You can also get food delivered, but the delivery folks are not allowed to come to the room so someone has to meet them in the lobby. You can park in the lot (the Huron Superior parking lot is across the street) or you may valet your car. Valet was MUCH more reasonable than I expected so it's a solid choice. If you do choose to park you can probably get your ticket validated, but I'm not sure where. When you have a baby here, you'll get a few folks contacting you. The person who's creating your birth certificate will give you a call to ensure the information is correct and help set up social security enumeration if you like. Bella Baby photography will also call round to set up a time to take newborn photos, which you can choose to purchase or not. One thing I didn't like is that they give the baby their first bath, and you can't participate. You can watch but that is it. I'm not sure why they chose to do it this way; I don't know how to bathe a baby and it would be quite helpful if they taught new parents how to do this rather than do it for them and then just leave them to their own devices when they are discharged. I would recommend Prentice to anyone who is opting for a hospital birth. I felt I was given excellent care and my daughter and I were given the support we needed. If I have another child, I'll choose Prentice.
