Very rude! I have a disability and came in with my service animal told the owner a few times that he was service, she then sent her server to tell me tO show paper and if he wasn't service to leave( which is illegal for her to do) after I told that to the server with her neck rolling she runs out from the kitchen to our table and says,"What did you say?" She came at me like she wanted to fight! Then she had I wait for 20 mins before we smdecided to just leave! And went to Deborah's down the street which was great! My family and I went to Aunny's for lunch. It was a truly excellent culinary experience. Lunch began with yummy corn bread. Three of the four of us had the fried chicken. The chicken was moist yet with a delectably crispy skin. My husband left nothing but a pile of bones. Our fourth person had an ample mound of meatloaf that she said was delicious. We found the fried corn to be interesting but not quite as tasty as our other side dishes: green bean casserole, yellow rice with gravy, baked beans and green beans. All were well seasoned and flavorful. Dessert was just as good and homemade. Pound cake, lemon iced pound cake, bread pudding and pecan pie were quickly devoured. My father could not stop raving about the best pecan pie he has ever eaten. Momma J was our dessert chef and our server and did an excellent job in both aspects. I was really dissapointed with this place, I really was starving, I didnt eat all day( by choice) heard about this place from someone i know, and read reviews so gave it a go thinking im going to get a nice southern meal, 1 piece of fried chicken ( not even a breast) was a leg quarter, and 3 small sides 10.99 ? what a ripoff. I was still hungry, had to get another piece, they didnt have fried chicken, it was just baked with no flavor , just terrible, no sauces on the table outside,no napkins, just really dissapointed and a true waste of $16.50 of my money. read more

I think restaurants have 3 categories that together make a review. Food, service and atmosphere. It was maybe 6 pm and we were the only people in the place but the ratings were high so what the heck we'll order. I find the south a friendly place so I was a bit surprised the the staff wasn't... Perhaps they wanted to go home or it had been a tough day or something.... After ordering we had time to look around, the ceiling was bowed way down by the ceiling fan, the booth seats ripped and the place wasn't the maintained very well. But the rating was for the food so we waited to see. After a bit of time the food came... The food was good but not great. I'm not sure why lots of folks rated it so high but it missed the mark for us. read more

Great spot for a traditional southern cooked meal at a very reasonable price. Mama Jane was a great waitress and couldn't have been more welcoming and nice. The food was delicious, all main dishes come with multiple sides to choose from. I suggest the collard greens and the yams! Fried pickles with the ranch and mustard sauce were excellent as well. Literally the BEST southern food I've ever consumed. Everything homemade. Fried chicken, fried corn on the cob, green bean casserole, cornbread... all if it was AMAZING. I live almost 2 hours north of Georgetown but I would drive just for dinner- its that good. This place puts all other "country cooking" and "soul food" joints to shame. read more

Definitely a local place! Stopped in for dinner about an hour before closing. Check out the weekly dinner special on the white board.. one meat and three sides for cheap. Drinks are in cans and they don't serve alcohol. I had whiting fish, and it was cooked perfectly! Nice and crispy, not soggy at all. Mac and chesse was more like a noodle loaf with cheese on top. Cabbage was okay but needed pepper. Fried okra was tasty! They also have corn on the cob, sweet corn, and yellow rice with gravy. They have pepper vinegar and tartar sauce but you have to ask for it. Service had a bit of an attitude and there was some eye-rolling going on when we asked for sauces. I was a little annoyed by the service; would the owner of the business treat customers this way? A gem in Georgetown! Ate there while visiting the Kaminsky house since it was well recommended by of course yelp! So had to try it out. And was not disappointed. The corn beef hash and eggs which is a breakfast choice I usually avoid as I just couldn't seem to find a place that did it right; made without a ton of salt. This place made me love corned beef hash again. The place is located right on the Main Street and has a comfy vibe to it. Aunny's is a must visit if you are living or visiting the coastal area of South Carolina, you must get in here and try this soul food. I'm no expert, but this place is the real deal. Home cooked meals in a laid back atmosphere all served with a smile. I have never eaten a meal so slow in my life...I savored each and every morsel of food on my plate! They have a menu but list some extra things on a white board on the right side of the restaurant. My fiancé got the Ox Tails and said they were unbelievably tasty. I am a vegetarian and found many choices. I got a few sides which included Mac and cheese (some of the best I've ever had), squash casserole (amazing!), baked yams (slightly sweet and delicious!) and my favorite or all...fries corn. I have never heard of it before but I am salivating as I type this. A chunk of corn on the cob is coated in the most amazing batter, which they use for their fried chicken, and then deep fry the corn. The crust is crisp, salty and peppery. The corn is caramelized and sweet as candy. Truly, truly the best item I've eaten while on vacation. As if all that wasn't enough of a reason to stop by, their homemade desserts are out of this world. My fiancé got the peanut butter pie. It was rich and peanut buttery. I got the coconut pie. It is so packed with coconut there is barely any custard. It is dense, moist, sweet and a reason to stop by all on it's own! Soul Food at it's finest. If you go to the end of the waterfront, past all of the tourist attractions and trendy little shops and eateries, you will find Aunnie's. Soul Food done right! The Soul Food here, is truly home cooked and incredibly good. Lunch was "meat and two" and offered up fried chicken, which I opted for today, meatloaf, fried fish or pork chops and a list of sides that included every favorite from rice to squash casserole ( the squash is worth the price of the meal all by itself). There was a huge dessert list with all that any Southern boy could want including sweet potato pie. Their sweet tea is addictive and the service is very Southern. My server told me a few stories that made the entire experience even more enjoyable. Aunnie and her staff serve up true Soul Food with so much attention to detail, that I thought my Mom was working in the kitchen. Truly a must when you are in Georgetown and I understand that if you get there by 11:00 AM on Sunday, everybody is still in church, and you stand a good chance to get a seat for a very Southern breakfast. Oh. My. Gracious. We just had an amazing meal at Aunny's! After a long day of travel, my family was starved and tired. Looking at local places, Aunny's caught our eye. SO glad we decided to try this place! Parking was convenient - on street in front of the building and around the corner, and they had both indoor and outdoor seating. The humidity is roughly 98% today, so we opted for indoors. The staff was super friendly and kind, making recommendations of menu items that would not aggravate my daughter's allergies and popping over regularly to check on us, asking after my daughter, in particular. Now, the food: The Sweet Tea is just as good as you would expect from a down home Southern kitchen. Wonderful. The BBQ Ribs were fork tender and literally falling off the bone. Sides: Mac & Cheese, Fried Okra, and Potato Salad. These were all delicious, and made a huge meal. Seriously, no room left. The Fried Tilapia was delicious, moist and perfectly seasoned. The Baked Beans side was simple and wonderful; just the right amount of molasses and brown sugar. This was more of an experiment to try more of the menu, but they turned out to be a perfect side for the fish. The Smothered Pork Chop was also fork tender and delicious! The waitress recommended the yellow rice as a good side with the gravy, and she was right. Finally, I got the shrimp and grits. This was no "3 little shrimp on a cup of grits" situation. The bowl was big, and full of grits. On top there were several shrimp - had to be 8 or more - with a delicious gravy. There was no way to improve this dish; I enjoyed every bite. We got desserts to go for later tonight or tomorrow, because we are all far too full after that meal to eat another thing. We are only in Georgetown overnight, and I regret that we won't have the opportunity to come to Aunny's again for a long while. What a find! read more

I am a native of the area and can vouch for the authenticity of the "Lowcountry" cuisine! This is my family's breakfast "out" spot where rounds of shrimp and grits or fish and grits, just like my Nana would prepare, are ordered! The fish and shrimp are seasoned with just enough bite and flash-fried just the way we like it. The grits are savory and creamy. The atmosphere along with the greetings, service and smiles of the staff feels just like home! There was a comment made prior to mine regarding the restaurant staff telling them that they were closed but the door being unlocked and food prep going on at 1pm on the Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving. This Yelper wasn't informed of how the owners of this establishment provide free Thanksgiving dinner every year as a way to give back and show gratitude to the community. However, that wasn't the Yelper's fault. :-) read more

We just stopped on a whim while passing through. What a Gem!!!!!! It was a Sunday, menu was limited to what was on the whiteboard. I had smothered porkchop and my friend had the whiting fish. We shared a variety of sides to accompany our meals. We had the squash casserole, broccoli casserole, butter beans, collards, cabbage and fried corn on the cob. We ordered two desserts to go; the coconut pecan pie and the hummingbird cake. Every bite of every product was OUTSTANDING, DELICIOUS, SCRUMPTIOUS!!!!!!! I was part of a bicycle group that rode from Maine to Florida this summer, and we had dinner at Aunny's the night we stayed in Georgetown. I believe that this was the best meal we had on the entire trip. For my meal, I had ribs, collard greens, corn and steamed vegetables. On the plus side, the food was good, and the serving sizes did not leave me feeling like I had a food brick in my stomach. The ribs were so tender that the meat was literally falling off the bone. I loved the flavor of the collard greens cooked with ham. The corn was sweet and cooked just right. The service was slow, but we were a group of 15, so we overwhelmed the small kitchen. The cook did a great job, but the waitress could improve. I don't know who the cook was, but we were told that Auny had already gone home. If I am ever back here again, I will definitely stop in. read more
