TLDR: Bigger space, same legendary pit beef. Still one of the best sandwiches in Baltimore, and the…read morenew location makes it even easier to enjoy. If you're talking Baltimore pit beef, Chaps Pit Beef has been a staple for years, and after coming here for over a decade, I can confidently say it still delivers every single time. Their new location, just a stone's throw from the original humble shack, is a huge upgrade. You get the same iconic food, but now with a much larger dining room that actually makes it easy to bring a group without fighting for space. It's the best of both worlds. Same old school flavor with a more comfortable setup. On my most recent visit, I stuck with my go to. A loaded hoagie absolutely packed with pit beef, corned beef, sausage, and turkey. It's massive, messy in the best way, and exactly what you want when you're craving something unapologetically Baltimore. I paired it with a large order of fries, which were piled high and perfect for sharing. Decided to switch it up a bit and try the Holy Cod fish sandwich too, and that ended up being a sleeper hit. Huge portion of crispy fried cod, topped with fresh coleslaw on a soft bun. Not something you usually go to Chaps for, but honestly worth ordering. Everything came out crazy fast, which is always impressive considering how busy they can get. Quick stop at the condiment bar is a must. Load up on the free pickles, onions, Carolina Gold mustard, and that tiger sauce. The horseradish and mayo combo just hits different on pit beef. Bottom line, Chaps might not be a hidden gem anymore, but it doesn't need to be. It still outperforms most spots in the pit beef game and continues to be one of the best sandwiches you can get in Baltimore.

It didn't even have the smell or feel of a proper pit beef place. Customer service also needs improvement. The cashier taking our order seemed more focused on watching the baseball game on TV than helping customers. It might be worth turning the TV off near the counter so staff can give customers the attention and service they deserve. Overall, not a great experience.

The fries were good but taste even better when they ate pipping hot!! I loved the Kane sauce! They need to sell that separately like chic fil a do in grocery stores. The main reason I gave this place 4 starts is because of the luck of diversity within their menu. All they have is chicken tenders, fries, coleslaw and a chicken tender sandwich. Not many options. Being a chicken place, I am surprised they don't have traditional wings or more side orders to choose from. Also it's was really crowded in a Thursday evening and only 1 person working the register (but they do have a kid if you want to self serve your order). I gave this

I know in the past, they didn't have those and the line would be so long, people were out the building. French fries, toast, and chicken were good. Chicken could've been crispier. Same with fries. I love their toast! Something about it is so addicting. Their most famous sauce that comes with each meal is waaaay too salty in my opinion. I much prefer ketchup. The vibe is pretty much just college students trying to get a quick bite. Tip: don't take the food to go. Eat at the restaurant for the best quality. Once the food gets older, it's even more mushy.

Pollo Campero is a nice addition to the Nottingham area and provides a bit of a different take on the traditional fast food chicken places such as KFC and Popeyes. Offering Guatemalan chicken fare with fried and rotisserie chicken, rice & beans, yuca, jamaica punch and horchata to wash it all down. The setup of Pollo Campero is similar to any other fast food chain restaurant, no frills with the ambiance. However, it did appear that you can get your chicken served family style on a platter when dining in. There was a bit of a language barrier when ordering my food and a slight mix up when receiving my food since the employee told me my order wasn't ready even though he then turned around and called my name, again, as I stood in front of him. I asked for the fried white meat combo but instead the employee rung me up for dark meat, after asking me my name three times I just decided to let it slide because I was on a time crunch. I thought the chicken was seasoned well, the beans we're tasty although a little skimpy on the portion, and the fries were ok. All in all, I'm looking forward to trying some other menu options at Pollo Campero once the newness of the restaurant has died down some and they've gotten into a rhythm with their customer service.
