Refused to take out an impacted tooth all because they said I had to pay for a collagen plug (which was not at all necessary) and I refused because I have full insurance coverage . I was referred to Dr. Smith by my current Dentist in Everett because she was highly recommended in that specialty, and my current dentist did not preform them. I have never written a bad yelp but after my experience as a first time client, I will not go back or subject my kids to that. I had shared in my initial call with the office that I had sensitive gums and anxiety. None of that seemed to matter to either the hygienist or the dentist. Instead, I asked for the hygienist to be more gentle and he wasn't, and water and grit sprayed everywhere. The dentist was scolding, condescending and unwelcoming. I was near tears as she continued to scold me on my gums, and pushed a grafting procedure like it was life or death. A horrible experience. read more

The first time I came to this office was 6 months ago for a regular check-up/cleaning. The dental assistant who took x-rays of my teeth and did some cleaning had such shaky hands and tremors that I was scared and very uncomfortable. He had to retake the X-rays several times as he could not position the mouth piece in correctly. I was not happy with this office using a dental assistant with tremors in his hands to work on my teeth! I decided to give it another try most recently for our 6 month cleaning and also brought my son in. The dentist scolded me and said my 16 year old had bad cleaning habits and he had a "cavity" on one of his teeth and she needed to do a gingevectomy (cut the gums down with laser) in order to access the tooth to cap it. She told me I needed a $4000 gum graft on myself. I went home with these info and something in my gut did not feel right. My son has never had a cavity in all his 16 years of life; he is an athlete and is on a sugar-free diet by his own bidding so he can perform better; and eats super healthy and has always had good oral hygiene. I decided to get a second opinion and am I glad I went with my Mama Instinct! Today, we saw another dentist who was not condescending or pushing procedures. He looked at my son's tooth and said it wasn't a cavity at all, but a small opening on the side surface of the tooth with some food/discoloration. He smoothed it all out without shots, and put a sealant on it to prevent a cavity from forming in that small hole-- ALL WITHOUT a gingevectomy! He was totally surprised that Aurora Dental Care wanted to cut my 16 year old son's gum down and crown a tooth that didn't even have a cavity on it. He spent 10 min. on my son and my son left without pain or his gums cut. I was totally floored that Aurora Dental Care had misled us and was wanting to do unnecessary procedures, most likely to make extra money. I would be very careful about what recommendations this dentist gives and go with your gut feeling. If she is pushing for a certain treatment plan, I would always get a second opinion. This offices seems like it is more interested in making money. read more

I started going to Dr. Smith in November. Since then she has performed a fairly intense root canal, filled 9 cavities, deep cleanings, and I recently had 3 wisdom teeth extracted. Each time I had minimal to no pain after the procedure. I have a lot of dental issues to fix but she never makew me feel bad for waiting so long to do so. We have a plan in place and I feel confident that I am going to have this smile I've always wanted once we are done. Her staff has always been friendly and efficient. The receptionist understands insurance and walks you through the charges, no surprises. She is also quite personable and very funny the more you talk with her. She discusses your options and it makes you feel like you have choices in your care. During procedures she checks in with me and she also tells me when she's almost done which is really thoughtful. I've had very bad experiences with dentists in the past and I continue to go back to this dentist because I feel like she actually cares and the lack of pain is due to her quality of work. read more

NO STARS! Avoid this dentist. I went in for a cleaning and X-ray for tooth pain. They seemed more concerned with how I'd heard of them/marketing than the appointment itself. I should have taken my X-rays elsewhere. I made an appointment for the root canal that Dr. Smith said would stop the pain. I have no doubts that the selected tooth needed work and I've been told root canals hurt... bad. Halfway through the procedure, I required more Novocaine. She started re-numbing me and stabbed her assistant with the needle. After 10 minutes of waiting for a new dental assistant she finished up the grinding of my jaw bone for the crown. She rushed the stitches of my gums. Did a poor job leaving an irritating scar above the tooth. After all of this SHE FAILED TO CHECK THE LENGTH OF THE TEMP CROWN! This caused me to hit the healing tooth EVERY TIME I slightly bit down. Went back for the post op still in a lot of pain, just to have her scold me. She wasn't going to numb me for the grinding down of the STILL HEALING AND EXTREMELY SORE tooth. After all the healing, she had worked on the wrong tooth. I'm still in pain and cold sensitive on that side. I would not recommend Dr. Smith to anyone. I only had chosen her because she's nearby and I had assumed she was doing well to be able to rent that new office. Turns out she must only be in the business for $$$$ not helping patients. At least I learned a painful lesson and have a crazy story to tell. p.s. the nurse they sent to my house for blood testing was nice, but rushed. Complaining of lighting in my house and had to stick me 3 times to get blood. read more

I've been going to this dentist for about a year now, and my experiences have been pretty pleasant as far as dentist visits go. Rachelle, the receptionist, is adorable and is great at answering questions about procedures or health insurance. She even gave me movie recommendations. She's great. The cleanings are always fine, too. I recently got two of my wisdom teeth pulled and the procedure went very smoothly. Dr. Smith is indeed skilled and swift. She even called me that evening to check-up on me. However, the only downfall with this dentist is that after the procedure is done, there isn't much dialogue between the patient and dentist. For example, after my teeth were pulled, Dr. Smith runs off to jot down notes. Fine, that is very thorough, but I just had oral surgery and I want to be able to learn as much about how my procedure as possible. The anesthesia was also administered haphazardly without any explanation of what was being given to me. It felt forced, if you will. I prefer doctors to explain what is going on next so that I can prepare myself for it. I'm sure a certain amount of omission is necessary to avoid a fearful patient, but I like to know what's going on. I also would have liked to see more thorough instructions on after-care from the doctor herself rather than having to read a piece of paper afterwards. Overall, this is a good dentist and I expect to continue seeing her. read more

My family and I went to Aurora Dental for several years when we lived in Seattle. Our treatments ranged from routine cleaning and check-ups to root canal treatments, partial dentures for my 90 year old father that involved complex bridges to preserve teeth. Dr. Smith is an extremely skilled, knowledgeable, caring dentist. She is up on the latest procedures, yet uses them only when necessary. After procedures, she would call in the evening to check if things were OK, particularly with my elderly father. Four years ago, we moved to the UK for a job. Recently I developed a tooth ache and was found by my dentist here to have a cracked tooth. An extraction was recommended. I consulted Dr. Smith to get a second opinion! She was able to dig up all my records, including notes and X-rays of my mouth so as to advise me on what possibilities were available after extraction, e.g. implant. When she emailed me all her records, I was truly impressed at her record keeping and her thorough consideration of my case after all these years. She was much more thorough about what my options were than my local dentist. She did all of this without any charge, highlighting her desire to do well by her patients long after they have left town. I've been going to Dr. Smith since 2007. I'm so happy I found her. Her staff is always helpful and kind and she is a fabulous dentist. She is great about explaining her recommendations for care and is easy to work with for setting appointments so that they are shorter and easier on me plus she gives absolutely painless shots!! Her root canals are really fast and painless. I should know. I have had at least 8 root canals and Dr. Smith has done six of them. I'm generally very afraid of sitting myself down in that dental chair. Mostly because my teeth are really bad. I've had 3 appointments here. The first was a general check up and cleaning. That went well and was told I needed a deep cleaning and some teeth removed. Dr. Smith a very sweet older woman did a quick clean and I knew there was something special about her. They were very gentle and made me feel relaxed. The next appointment they performed the deep clean which required some shots. I was very pleased with the speed and efficiency. They numbed me before they used the needle. So then the big job of removing 3 upper back molars 2 of which were broken. Wow Dr. Smith is very skilled and proficient. She was fast and new exactly what to say to me. I felt no stress. The shots were almost painless. Throughout the procedure I felt nothing. Dr. Smith has been my dentist for many years and I recommend her without reservtations. I have always received professional, caring services from Dr. Smith and her staff. She not only takes care of actual problems but is very proactive about preventitive care which I appreciate. I also like that Dr. Smith does root canals so I don't have to go to another dentist for that. She also now does orthodontia. She did braces for my husband and he is thrilled with the result. My daughter is also a patient. Dr. Smith removed her wisdom teeth and it went very smoothly, with no complications. Prices are reasonable (for dental work) and within what my insurer says are rleasonable for this area, so I don't have to pay extra over what the insurance covers. Overall, I highly recommend Aurora Dental Care for excellent, professional service..( And the fact that Dr. Smith has small hands is a plus-if someone has to have their hands in your mouth, it is nice if they are not giant hands!.
