It's been about a year since I got PRK surgery here and my eyesight has never been better. Literally. I don't think I was born with this good of eyesight. I was a bit apprehensive about getting surgery but when you're married to a bat, one of you has to bite the bullet and watch the green light or it'll be the blind leading the blind. Unfortunately, my bat is far sighted so I don't think surgery would have helped. Either way, I saw my regular eye doctor recently and I'm seeing 20/20 out of my left eye and slightly worse from my right eye. And I'm okay with that. When I got the surgery, I got a slew of paperwork and meds to take. The first day was just sleepy. I think it was the pills. The second day was a little annoying. By the evening, it was really annoying with any kind of light (if you get this surgery, I highly suggest you plan a vacation around it to go camping. I stayed in our travel trailer in dim light) and we went to Walmart to pick up those dark orange safety glasses. Much more bearable. By day five, I felt fine but driving in the morning when people were using headlights, then when the sun came out, it was just mildly irritating. Now, no pain, no issues, just straight vision. If you're thinking about this surgery and you're a candidate, DOOOO ITTTT! I can now find things my bat "says" he lost but is really just on the kitchen counter. Bonus points, they have Alexa in the patient rooms so when I was bored I got a bed time story, soft music, and Alexa to keep me occupied instead of looking in the drawers and playing with the tools like I do at my normal doctor's offices. read more

I didn't have LASIK due to my cornea being too thin, but instead, I underwent a different procedure where a lens was implanted in my cornea. Unfortunately, I'm not satisfied with the results. While I can use readers for close-up vision, I still struggle to see clearly in the distance. It's frustrating that I have trouble seeing while driving on the highway and can't even read aisle signs. There seems to be no happy medium--I'll need to get glasses after all, even though I was initially told that I'd only need readers. I can't undue to his procedure or get 10k back. Type of care, quality of care and office experience was very good and all staff were warm and made me feel comfortable. read more

Over the last 2 weeks I've had refractive lens replacement done on both eyes. Dr Rudd and his staff are simply amazing. The procedures were quick, painless, and simply life changing. I went from not being able to read anything on my phone without prescription glasses to being able to read everything clearly the next day. Wow! I am very, very impressed with this office. I was referred to look into getting my RK surgery from 93 "tweaked" as my vision has been going a bit as I get older. Making the appt was super easy. The phone was answered on the second ring by a friendly and professional lady. Once I arrived for my appt, they brought me right back and began the scans and tests. Everyone was so helpful and explained each step clearly. Dr. T (can't remember her full last name) was really great, explaining the pros and cons of getting the prk. In the end, it turns out, it would be better for me to wait until my near vision gets worse. I appreciate her honesty instead of trying to rush me in for the surgery. I was so impressed by the doctor and her bedside manner. Everyone in the office was outstanding. The office is super clean and modern. Very nice ambiance. They even offered coffee or snacks when I checked in. This kind of service does not exist in many places anymore. If you are thinking about Lasik or PRK, this is the place to go. I had LASIK surgery yesterday at Aurora LASIK with Dr. Rudd. I've been intrigued by the process for years but never could bring myself to take the next step and call a clinic. Since I was 18, I've been dealing with glasses or contacts with varying degrees of success. I could see fine with contacts but I always had to worry about making sure I had them with me when I traveled etc. 3 weeks ago I decided to take the leap of faith and call Dr. Rudd's office and I wish I had done it sooner. My firsts appointment was pleasant, they explained the whole procedure including pricing and scheduled me for the dreaded eye dilation a week later. I can honestly say that getting my eyes dilated was the worst part of the whole experience and thats just an inconvenience. At 3:00 yesterday I checked into get my vision fixed. I was back in the car by 4:00 with no pain and doctors orders to take a nap! I could see fairly clearly last night but this morning was epic! I woke up and could see with out glasses or contacts! It was amazing and I even drove to work and to my follow up with no issues. Follow up today and my sight is already better than it was with contacts! If you're considering getting Lasik at Aurora, DO IT! I had my procedure done yesterday and can't say enough positive things about my experience. I'm going to write a long review because, if you're researching getting Lasik, it is a big decision and I want to give all the info I can. [Research] To start, I researched numerous different Lasik centers in Thurston, Pierce and King counties and ultimately narrowed my search down to three different options (Aurora being one of them). I did consultations at all three places and all three had a very similar consultation process. They all involved asking some initial questions, doing some scans, and doing an eye exam. Even though the steps were similar, I had the best experience (by far) at Aurora. While doing the scans, they did a great job of explaining what information each machine was gathering and prepared me for what the experience would be. During the eye exam, they were able to get me to a place where I could see the 20/15 line very clearly which made me feel confident that they had a good reading. After that, Dr. Rudd came in and talked a bit about the procedure and answered any questions I had (one of the other places just had me watch a video of the Dr. talking about Lasik instead of having me actually meet with them). After that, I met with the patient counselor who provided me with additional information. She was awesome and had thorough answers for every question I could think of. After all my consultations were done, I knew I wanted to go to Aurora. I actually even looked through the Google reviews and noticed reviews from a couple people I know, so I reached out to them to ask about their experiences and they highly recommended Aurora (perks of living in a small-ish town). That made me even more confident in my decision. [Surgery] Fast forward to the morning of my surgery. I took my first valium 20 minutes before arriving. When I got there, I was still a little nervous, so I took the second one when I checked in. I was then brought to a waiting room where they had music from my favorite band playing (they asked about my favorite band in the new patient paperwork). I waited in there with my wife for a few minutes and was then brought to the surgery room. The surgery room has a glass wall and my wife was able to watch the whole thing from the other side of the glass. Someone actually even stayed with my wife to explain everything as it was happening (I thought that was a really nice touch). I felt no pain and the whole thing was done in probably 5-7 minutes. When it was done, everyone in the room clapped which was also kind of a fun touch. Dr Rudd even sent me a text in the evening to check in. [Recovery] When the surgery was done, I went straight home, took ibuprofen, and went to sleep for about 2 1/2 hours. I was a little concerned about being able to sleep after surgery, but I think the valium helped with that. When I woke up, I was shocked at how good I felt. Aside from feeling a little groggy, I felt totally fine and was already seeing great! The next day (today), I went to my post-op appointment and found that I now have 20/15 vision which is better than I expected! [Final Thoughts] Again, I can't say enough positive things about my experience at Aurora. Every single person I interacted with was so pleasant, kind and attentive. Seriously, everyone there is awesome. Not only did they do an amazing job with the big things (the surgery itself... I mean I'm seeing 20/15!!!), but they also did an amazing job with the unexpected details (my favorite music playing while I was waiting, someone staying with my wife during the procedure to explain everything, a stress ball to hold during the procedure, a text later in the evening to check in). This place is awesome. My wife had her eyes done here a couple years ago and I just got mine done a couple months ago. The staff is super friendly and always helpful. The doctors are great and are helpful from start to finish. The procedure is ridiculously easy. I assume its the technology that makes it so, but I also imagine it has to do with everyone there as well. Like I said I am a couple months out from the surgery I am sitting around 20/20 or 20/15. I am super happy i got it done only wish I would have done it earlier. No issues from the procedure and I am happily not wearing glasses except for blue blockers at my computer and sunglasses without a prescription. Last couple of quick notes that i didnt feel like making a proper paragraph for. 1. The price I think is solid based on the graph I looked at. I was out the door just under $4000. I heard it ranges from $1000/eye(though I have never confirmed this price) up to $2500/eye. I was at 3750 or something like that with my wife's referral. Plus when I say out the door I mean it covers everything. The pre/post visits, the meds, the procedure, everything. 2. This sounds like a common practice for lasik but they work with a company that does 0% financing for 24 months. I will say I believe the percentage is high if you dont hit the 24months, but I cant say for sure. Either way they have a few options for financing, with one being 0% for sure. 3. This is a small thing that needs to be stated, but the doctor is extremely hands on. First he gives you his number if you need to call him at any time ever. Second he calls you the first night from his personally number to make sure you are ok. For me it was rounding 9pm when I received my call. I had half forgotten and half assumed he would call the next day when my phone rang. Third he does his own voicemail/phone tree message. This doesnt sound like a big deal, but my wife use to work for doctors at a private practice and they would never had done this. I think its huge to have such a personal contact and relationship with your customers. Either way I highly recommend these guys!! read more

The front desk girl is a snot. Definitely needs to tone down the Diva. Paying a lot money here and I would expect to see more smiles and more pleasantries. Not be so abrupt...is she new? I had my LASIK surgery done by Dr. Rudd in March 2017, and I'm still extremely happy with the results. He and his staff were accommodating every step of the way -- from the initial consultation to the final post-op appointment. I had a multifocal intraocular lense implanted in each eye one week apart from each other. Dr. Rudd was very thorough and kind. They take every precaution to make sure the surgery goes smoothly. When I went to the surgery center everybody worked together like a well oiled machine. All of the employees knew their job and performed it well. It was very impressive. I went to sleep one day in December with 20/425 vision in one eye, and even worse in the other, woke up a little nervous and went in for my eye surgery. Came home a little tired from the nervousness I had felt earlier in the day and went to sleep. I woke up later in the day, and went to grab my glasses...and didn't need them. I went in for my check up and couldn't believe it when I was informed I have 20/20 vision in one eye, and 20/40 in the other. As I write this review, (without glasses and without squinting) I am thinking of the care, consideration and respect Dr. Rudd and his team showed me throughout the process. Here it is about a month after my surgery and I am still trying to think of the words to truly express the gratitude I feel for the care I received at Aurora Lasik. I want to also point out, I had previously been told that I was not a candidate for Lasik due to my astigmatism. I had Lasik with Dr. Rudd early November (in the first week of Aurora opening). My experience was amazing! The entire process, from screening to post op care has been better then I could have imagined. The procedure itself was quick and painless, and after only a few hours sleep when I got home I was able to get out of the house and go to the grocery store, watch a movie with my husband and just live my normal life. Now, after wearing glasses since I was 13, I am able to see the 20/15 line with no help! I just got Lasik done 2 days ago! I went to Aurora Lasik and they were seriously sooo awesome! ENTIRE STAFF was super kind & genuine! I had 20/20 vision less than 24hrs later (Previous contact prescription was -4.00 with Astigmatism). No dry eyes, no sensitivity, driving & playing video games the next day, LOL. Surgery & Recovery was not painful at all. Honestly, going to the dentist for a routine cleaning and chopping onions hurt me more... I want to say it was the only time things were uncomfortable, was during recovery. I would maybe compare it to briefly looking directly into a bright light. I know the actual surgery is probably what is holding people back the most, but the numbing drops they use is amazing! I felt no pain whatsoever (And I get bad anxiety and panic attacks haha), and they coach you through the entire process! They even give you a USB with your surgery recorded, lol. Knowledgeable and truly caring staff, state of the art equipment, and absolutely incredible results. You see the same faces from consultation to surgery to follow ups, and everyone is so friendly and informative. Many of the staff has had lasik themselves, which was an added comfort. My procedure took just about 15 minutes, as promised, and was painless. I wouldn't even call it uncomfortable. The irritation immediately afterwards is extremely mild, and I was able to simply sleep through it. A couple hours post-surgery, my eyes felt completely normal and I could see with no correction and no issue. Dr. Rudd called me that evening to check in on my recovery and to answer any follow up questions. By my follow up appointment the next morning, just 19 hours later, I have 20/15 vision. I've worn glasses and contacts most of my life, and this is the best my vision has ever been. I have been wearing glasses and contacts since my sophomore year of high school. I have been thinking about LASIK for years but wasn't quite ready. I am so glad that I decided to go ahead and have it done, plus having Dr. Rudd as my doctor was a major bonus! I went in for a consultation today, for most part the staff was quite friendly. The office n waiting area a bit messy. This was my 3 consultation in 10 days. I'm shopping around, not just for a fair price but the best place to have my eyes corrected. Every other place used same equipment n performed same test. The other clinics however clean n sterilized each piece before I put my chin n forehead on equipment. At Aurora this wasn't done. I thought well maybe they clean n sterilized before I got there. Then came the eye patch they had me wear for one test. It was a used one that came out of a desk drawer and was not wrapped or sealed. The price here was 5 to 6 hundred more than the other places I shopped and I expected sterilization to be a top priority in a place that does eye surgery. Sterile environment didn't seem to be a priority here so I've opted to have my lasik done elsewhere. read more
