The eye exam seemed normal. I didn't like that I was grossly overcharged from the quote they gave me.

Don't go here unless you want a headache with billing. I just got a notice about getting billing for VSP covered services. That and when I initially ordered my contacts, I was never asked about insurance. I've never had an experience like this before. It took several emails just to get a refund for the contacts that they stated weren't a part of VSP insurance. Now I'm getting billing for a contact lens fitting that should've been billed properly to VSP. Be wary. I went there because they had an opening. Wonderful staff. The doctor was somehow detail oriented and fast. It's great to see clearly again. The selection of eye wear is so much fun. The staff helping me pick my new glasses were easy to be with that I felt like I was just hanging out with a bunch of friends picking out my glasses. Use caution here if you have high myopia or a complex prescription. This practice could NOT get my prescription right. They changed my lenses/glasses 3 times and I am out $1200 and have glasses that are completely unusable. I felt like I was being gaslit that my glasses would just take adjusting, but I've worn glasses for 30 years and I know when something is normal or not. They also kept trying to get me to do more complicated appointments (dry eyes, more in-depth retina exams), so at one point it started to feel like a money grab. I know my experience is not the norm for this practice and they were nice and professional for the most part, but overall it was a traumatizing and frustrating experience for me and I hope nobody else has to go through what I did here. read more

They will nickel and dime you -- go somewhere else. I'm very unhappy with this office. Long story short, I paid hundreds of dollars out of pocket and with insurance (their services are expensive compared to other offices). Including a contact fitting for $109, again out of pocket. Due to some clerical error, they never finalized my contact prescription although that was not communicated to me. I was told I could order contacts anytime in the future and we were all set. I'm still within the year bracket for a contact prescription... but when I asked for a prescription today so I could order contacts, they said I had to come in and pay the fitting fee again since "it was 7 months ago." In the 20+ years I've been wearing contacts, I've never had this problem before from an office. They apologized but refused to waive the fee even though it was their error. Even after I spent hundreds of dollars there. Nickel and diming! Bad customer service. read more

Outstanding! A friend recommended this eye doctor to me as I was EXTREMELY ready to leave Clarus (see that review for details on that sh*t show) They answer their phone on the first or second ring. No phone trees here. Booking an appointment is easy and not 3 months out. The office is very clean, hip, and modern. Parking is quick, easy and free. Staff is very efficient, friendly and professional. They took my daughter and I back before our appointment time. No waiting past your appointment time here. They actually respect your time. Dr. Hamblet was so warm and kind. She never seemed hurried and seemed to love interacting with us and answering questions. She lives in the community and seems invested in her community, which I also love. The technology she uses was modern and up to date. So very different than Clarus. She was extremely knowledgeable and even had a retinal scan that shows intricate parts of your eye which indicates several possible health issues. Insurance does not cover this test but for 39 it was very well worth it to me to pay it out of pocket for me and my children. My daughter and son both ordered glasses. They have a very wide selection of glasses and the technician who helped with the selection was very helpful, patient, and answered 101 questions. Basically, we are very lucky to have this talented doctor and staff in our little town of Tumwater. I am very impressed and have already referred co-workers and friends. read more

Dr Hamblet is an incredible doctor! She is smart, professional and fun! She managed to find a way to get my my astigmatic eyes into TRI-FOCAL soft lenses! Brilliant! My five year old daughter needed glasses and so we took her to the Eye Love office for an eye exam. Everyone in the office was extremely welcoming, kind, and made her feel very comfortable. The doctor was very patient and sweet to her, they even gave her a toy afterwards. She loved the experience and now can't wait to go back. I felt well cared for during the exam. Until I checked out. I expected my insurance would pay all charges for my exam. At checkout I was told I needed to pay an extra 35.00 for a special machine exam. I was blind- sided by this request. Before doing this test, I should have been told about the extra charge. Dr Nguyen indicated that he'd like me to come back for an additional glaucoma test,just to make sure. He did not tell me the test site was in DuPont. I will not be returning to this clinic. I feel that I was taken advantage of and this company is after the big bucks. I prefer up front, honest communication read more

I drove a friend into Tumwater to see Dr. Hamblet after her only pair of glasses was destroyed beyond use and there was no outdated or backup pair to be had. (Imagine being suddenly unable to see near or far, thinking your complex lenses will take weeks to replace!) I was absolutely amazed at the level of service provided. This gracious doctor miraculously filled the emergent need and put my friend into a pair of inexpensive single vision glasses that will keep her functioning until her highly specialized lenses can be replaced. From virtual blindness to functional distance vision within a matter of HOURS! Unbelievable! Dr. Hamblet is not your ordinary eye care professional, and I have seen MANY practitioners over my 55 years wearing prescription lenses. I had a very poor eye exam at I love Olympia optical. The examiner flipped the eye comparisons so quickly I could not compare them. I told him andhe did I t again no change. I left and now I have been c charged $90. I did go to SUBURBAN OPTICAL FOR MY EYE EXAM WHICH WAS THE BEST I have ever had! I will pay the bill, but wanted to let others know. So I'm a huge fan of Eye Love Olympia. I think they are amazing. I've had a weird eye issue that's taken me from Claris Eye Center to the UW. We've never found our whatever was causing said eye issue and I've thankfully been released from UW. I recently went into Eye Love Olympia for a routine eye exam and had to get new glasses. Wow. What an amazing experience. The technology the provide. And the experience o had here was amazing. I'm literally wouldn't suggest any one else to go too. In all the years I've had eye glasses I've never been treated so well. And they have some amazing glasses to choose from. I don't have insurance to cover eye care. My overall experience at Eye Love can be described only as fantastic. All of the staff goes above and beyond to serve the needs of the patient. In my case I haven't been able to see small type well for a long time. With my new stylish light weight glasses and I can read that fine print. Testing is so thorough and complete. I think Dr. Hamblet did a good enough job, I'm guessing. She was very nice. I have pretty poor vision and have been wearing glasses for 30 years. The exam was fine and then I trusted two of my old frames to get the new rx lenses put in them. I parted with my first pair and when I got them back was like WTF. I felt like my eyes were crossing. It was terrible. The earth was wonky and I felt terrible. The woman in the front ensured me I would adjust and I trusted that I would even though I had never experienced this before with any other new pair in my whole 30 years of wearing glasses. But I acquiesced and gave my other pair up for them to fill. In the meantime of waiting, I just couldn't with the first lenses I got from EyeLove and reverted to an old pair of glasses from 2 years ago (I keep many old pairs... just in case). So when I got the second pair I was like - I can't. The woman in front - the fiery one - kind of made me feel like I was overreacting and throwing a fit. I felt so stupid but I like couldn't even balance, it felt really... not right. Looking out across the street I was like... yikes. Drunky cross-eyed wonky-town. So they actually did reexamine me (which I appreciated) and somehow it was a little off again. They said they could change the order to this other rx... I was hesitant but was like... ok. Hopeful... questioning but hopeful. I should have trusted my guts and just cut my losses then. I also asked for my old lenses and I am so grateful they still had them from one of the pairs (I put them in the frames as they were before). They had already ditched my old lenses. Anyway, I don't wear that second pair and have been wearing the original lenses that I came in with in the other pair. I have state insurance but still paid over $500 to put lenses I can't even use into frames I already had. Like - a very expensive experience where I gave them a lot of money for nothing but feeling kind of like a crazy stupid person where it was all my fault that these glasses weren't working. They weren't bi-focals, had no fancy tinting, nothing crazy. Just run of the mill near sightedness with astigmatisms. I have never had such a comparable experience to this that cost so much with having nothing to show for it. I think it might be an ok place if you don't have much in the way of vision difficulties and have extra money to pay for "atmosphere." Dr. Hamblet has been going above and beyond for me for years! She recently opened her own clinic and I am thrilled to be able to follow her to her new practice. When I first started seeing Dr. Hamblet I had iritis. She treated it and when it came back, she became concerned that my eyes were a red flag for something more serious. It took another 4-5 years for doctors to finally diagnose my auto immune disease, and it was always Dr. Hamblet pushing the doctors and advocating for me to find answers. She refuses to give up on you until you get answers. She goes the extra mile and always chooses to be proactive instead of reactive. But more important than all of this is that over the years it is her bedside manner, the way she cares for her patients, takes the time to connect with you on a personal level and always asks about your family and remembers their names! And if all that weren't enough, when I became a foster parent I brought my kids in to see her. She is SO amazing with kids! She has a soft spot in her heart for little ones and as a mother of 4, is a pro in making them comfortable. And her new office even has space dedicated to children. Based on my experience, this doctor's practice is geared toward making financial gains over patient success and health. After multiple appointments, and assurances, my vision became more impaired with each alteration of prescription. The office never filed my insurance claims, leading to more than a thousand dollars out of pocket for me. I have found a competent eye doctor and they have fortunately rectified the huge mistake this doctor made, with an out of pocket expense of $83. I strongly advise if you have eyes....look elsewhere for the good of their health. read more

Eye Love is the BEST eye care clinic and frame shop in the area. In fact, the best I have ever been to and I have worn glasses since age 6. My vision is very bad and I am at risk for several serious eye conditions. I wouldn't trust my eyes to anyone else in Olympia. On top of their technical expertise and medical skill, the folks at Eye Love are all very kind, patient and accommodating. I used to dread eye appointments and I actually look forward to them now. Often, when getting a routine examination, it's hard not to shake the idea that you're just another box being checked. Nothing could be further from that at Eye Love Olympia. From the moment I entered the tasteful, spacious reception/sales area, I felt genuinely welcomed. The state-of-the-art examination technology was dazzling in its capabilities. Any question I had was answered clearly and thoroughly. Dr. Hamblet was delightfully personable and professional (as were all the members of the staff I met).
