My initial experience was good. I had a prescription from another OD and needed new progressive trifocals. I thought it was odd that I needed an appointment just to look at frames and and for someone in the "Optical" department to measure me for new lenses. I needed another appointment to pick up the new ones but did not see well with them and returned them. Someone there (I don't recall who) suggested I come back to have my vision re-checked by Ben Wong. I made another appointment and Dr. Wong issued a different prescription for new lenses. The same person in "Optical" handled the new order and I was not charged for the second go round. I made yet another appointment to pick them up. They seemed okay there in the store. But I could not use them using a computer or just reading. I tried desperately to adjust to them for two weeks, then simply gave up out of frustration. Long story short - the PD (pupillary distance) had been measured incorrectly and I experienced headaches, eye strain, and neck aches during those two weeks. I had not been give a detailed billing statement and asked for one a couple of weeks later. After reviewing the charges, I saw that I had been give bifocals - not the trifocals I had ordered! In addition, the person who assisted me in "Optical" apparently needs professional training. My confidence and trust in their business is completely destroyed. I emailed them three days ago with my complaints and asked for a refund. They thanked me for my concerns and said they would get back to me "when [they] we have more information." The opticians (not just here, but at 2 other places in the last year) need more training. I basically had to diagnose my own lens problems with UV/glare coating and the resulting brown tint. This may or may not be their own fault. After I received my glasses, thankfully they were totally clear since there was no UV dipping. But at night, headlights have green ghost images that look like airplanes landing right next to you. I called them back to voice my concern. The person I spoke to accused me of just trying to get a new set of lenses because I didn't like the glare coating. Of course I don't like it! I don't see how anyone could live with every light being doubled at night. They mis-communicated which type of anti glare coating I received as well. Oh, and they totally tried to up-sell me when I first went in. I would steer clear of this business. read more

Dr. Maxey is great with my kids and Dr. Wong is so knowledgeable and helpful with my elderly parents, even coming in on days when the office is closed when my Mom had an emergency. I like Dr. Maxey. She makes you feel very comfortable and is more interested in quality when checking your eyes. I like Sharon in the optical department too. She's efficient and very quick at looking up the information you need. This review is base on staff interaction. The receptionist was incredibly rude and lofty. After I stated that this was medical emergency and that I couldn't get into contact with my previous doctor as they were away on vacation, she said I could come in but demanded for me to get the charts from that office. I kindly had to reiterate that was impossible considering how the office was closed today and I had to leave a message to get seen. She then changed her mind about letting me come in the same day as "the schedule suddenly filled, and I can get you in Thursday when you can get a response from your doctor" which was four days later. It wouldn't be a medical emergency if I could wait that long, would it? Why would I go Thrusday, if I can finally get a response from my doctor once they're back in the office? "Well, you can go somewhere else then, because clearly this isn't the place for you." - Receptionist Lets be clear that I maintained calm and professional demeanor at all times and this receptionist decided to take it upon herself to prevent me from seeing a medical professional. I ended up elsewhere who had a better understanding on how clinic practices work and experienced at customer services. read more

The staff here are incredibly friendly and helpful. Dr. Wong is very thorough and pays close attention to detail. I buy my lenses & frames here because they always make themselves available for a readjustment. When a pair of frames or lenses has a malfunction, they handled the warranty replacement for me and had my new frames within a week! Wish I could give 6 stars. read more

Getting new glasses can be such a hassle, but this place makes it a pleasant experience. The office staff is pleasant, the assistants are relaxed, and the doctors are actual human beings! I have never waited more than 5 minutes for an appointment, and even had to call one time when my car broke down to tell them that I couldn't make it in time for my appointment. The staff calmly rearranged things so I could come in later that day. And my new glasses were there waiting for me, a day early! Just one warning: if you are driving there, you must turn left at the first traffic light after the Rt 101 overpass. It's easy to miss. After that left turn, take the first right into the parking lot, and then follow the parking lot to the right. read more

My family has been going to Pacific Northwest Eye Care for many years. We have seen Dr. Maxey, Dr. Wong and Dr. Williams, all of whom are very professional and thorough. The receptionist staff is helpful and the eyeglass fitting staff very helpful in helping us choose flattering frames. The frames are not cheap, but the lenses are always done correctly (I wear progressive bifocals), so it is worth it to me--as opposed to incorrect lenses from Costco. But I just wanted to add an additional compliment for exceptional service a few weeks ago. I needed to have my prescription sunglasses replaced, and needed them for a trip to LA on July 4th. The lab did not send the glasses in time, but the staff worked together to get a family member pick them up in Tacoma, get them to the office on July 3rd, so that we could pick them up before my trip! I can't review PNW Eye Care based on their care because after waiting seven weeks I had to cancel my daughter's appointment the day before she was to be seen. I was asked for my insurance info over the phone when I initially made the appointment and was told they accepted it. I heard nothing else until 24 hours before the appointment when billing called to tell me they'd just called BCBS to figure out what my vision plan was. Turns out they DON'T take it. They told me they'd bill my medical for one part and I'd have to pay out of pocket for the rest at time of service. No way I'm going to give business to a place that doesn't bother to confirm details until the day before an important (to me) and long awaited appointment. "Staff changes" was the excuse given for the delay. Staff I spoke to was pleasant enough over the phone but I am very disappointed and annoyed to have to return to square-one this late in the game for something that should have been figured out 6+ weeks ago. read more

After my first ever eye exam (at a different eye doctor) resulted in an eye infection many years ago, Dr. Wong took care of me. I went to Claris (next to where I work in Lacey) out of convenience for my next exam, but they are big and quite impersonal - I wasn't impressed. I returned to Dr. Wong and received the excellent service and support that seems to be the norm at his office. read more

I really love this place. I have worn glasses for 25 years, so believe me, I know optometrists!! The service here is excellent. I see Dr. Ben Wong. He is very thorough and yet very nice. I have an EXTREME phobia of one of the machines usually used, and he is very patient with me refusing to use it. The desk staff are also always very nice. I like that in the waiting room they have educational videos about eyesight. They also have a lot of toys for kids, as Dr. Linda Maxie's specialty is working with kids (pediatric optometrist?). In the eye wear part, they have a LOT of options at a lot of different prices, and for every style. Sharron is my absolute FAV. She makes eye wear shopping so much fun, and is able to help me select styles that I not just like but that look really good on me. She automatically has access to my prescription as it is all in the computer system. The doctor does not need to tell her, it is all there already. It is standard to charge for showing people how to put in contacts - that happens at every optometrist. I've never heard of one that doesn't. One of the things I love most about this place is that they are not a "mill" - they don't just churn you out, as quickly as possible. Dr. Wong is a real DOCTOR, not just someone who can tell you what prescription you need. He is able to talk head off health concerns before they become a big deal, because he knows the warning signs. He asks about your eye health. I don't know about you, but I want to make sure that my eyes stay healthy so that I can see for the rest of my life! Horrible horrible horrible. Stay away. Staff is rude. Charges 3x more than any other place I've ever been in last 13 years... And then couldn't tell me my prescription because doctor didn't tell front end staff??? 88$ charge to show me how to put contacts in... I didn't know they were charging me or I would have said I know how to put a contact in thanks.... Stay very very far away... Unless you wanna pay 313.00 for regular eye exam!!!!!?????? read more

Our family learned about PNWEC when our son was 7 years old and needed his first pair of glasses. I loved them right away. They were and still are a family friendly, child friendly facility. When it was time for the rest of the family to need eye care, I didn't hesitate to call. Our family has been going to PNWEC for 13 years now. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly.
