We love the chandelier we bought here for our entryway, and we picked up a lovely star shaped light for our daughter's bedroom that's also quite nice. That said, the process was miserable and we wouldn't recommend working with them. Initially the communication was great. My wife works in sales and was really impressed with their follow-up. They required payment up-front, and after they had the money it suddenly became really difficult to get hold of anyone. We would ask for an update and at best get a reply that they would get back to us (which only happened once or twice), and often not hear from them at all. It look months to get all the lights we ordered. We ended up returning a handful of them because with all of the communication being over text we hadn't realized they were so cheap looking (plastic and fabric) until we unboxed one at our house. It took well over another month to get our money back, amid more poor communication. We ended up calling our credit card provider to file a claim, and a refund came through the same day. Honestly the communication was bad enough for us to wonder if the storefront and show room was all for show and this place was just a scam. It's not. But I don't blame anyone with a similar experience for wondering. read more

Like Kate Lee (from another Google Review), I am not one to post negatively about someone's business - unless it is unethical and fraudulent - in which case I feel obligated to save others from the same nightmare. My first visit to Aurora Lighting & Design (ALD) was about a year ago when I happened to be in the area. Their showroom had a beautiful display of diverse lighting, with more of a *hip* feel compared to other lighting showrooms I've visited. Candice was prompt and friendly in her approach, and I was quite pleased with the overall experience. I placed an order in May '24 for roughly $5000 worth of lighting. Candice was originally informed that our installation date would be the first of September, but unbeknownst to Candice, that date got pushed by several months. She never inquired, of course (because she didn't have our lighting and welcomed the delay), but I reached out to her with some requests over the next several months; wanting to see the metal finish on a custom light that I ordered, needing to pick up two sets of sconces so we could determine their height in our cabinets, etc. Candice was serially avoidant of my requests, often times not responding altogether. When pressed, she would find ways to placate me and briefly satisfy my need for answers. However, when her promises started not panning out, but excuses were instead piling up, I decided to do a little digging. I read several reviews, and also called Hubardton Forge (a custom lighting manufacturer located in VT) to see if an order was placed by ALD (or Arizona Lighting, as she was previously known). No order was found - under any relevant contact information. I also inquired with another local lighting company about the availability of some pendants that I had ordered, revealing that Candice didn't place that particular order back in May either. Luckily, I was able to file a dispute with my cc company to receive my money back, but it wasn't without Candice blatantly lying to the cc company, saying she had shipped our items (with zero proof), in order to try and buy herself more time. I've attached the notification letter we received from Chase. I'd like to point out the date of the transaction vs. the date of the credit. ALD had our money for 9 months - but definitely did NOT use it to purchase OUR lighting! I have several texts and emails revealing Candice's evasive, avoidant, and dishonest business conduct. She had several key opportunities to fall on the sword and admit that our lighting was not in her warehouse, but she opted to keep up the ruse. Disappointing to say the least! I would never want to hurt someone's business, but I do not want anyone else to go through what we did. Unfortunately, judging by the other reviews, others have. It started out great with them and then something must have happened to them financially because things took a turn for the worst and now we've had to threaten legal action. We ordered lights in March 2024. It is now Dec 2024. We only received half our order and only after a ton of pestering on our part. There have been many unanswered texts, calls and emails, many lies about orders being placed, delayed or back ordered, and a load of rotating excuses as to why. They owe us $7000 for the items we didn't receive. Luckily we at least got back $1286 because we put in a CC dispute. They didn't want us to use a CC and I had to pay everything up front. We got the run around when we did get responses. I started to suspect they'd never placed my order so I repeatedly asked for proof that they placed our entire order and never got it. Candace repeatedly promised me she'd placed the order the day we paid her (March 2024). Finally after threatening legal action, she sent an email showing some of the missing items had been ordered. The dates on the invoices were August, September, and October- 6-8 months after we paid her (see picture of order date and then see the 3 orders dated August, sept and oct. Candace finally sent me). Bottom line I was correct, they did not order half our items. It seems they used our money for other things. Then they tried to cover their tracks by ordering some of the items months later, after I threatened legal action. Ironically, we still didn't receive the items. Over the past few months after a lot of requests on my part, she sent a couple of emails telling me items had shipped and arrived, but then changed the shipping and arrival dates on the next email by hand writing new dates next to the missing items after me asking for tracking numbers over and over. Each time I questioned why we hadn't received the items if they had arrived, she'd say they were back ordered or hadn't shipped or it was the manufactures fault. It was ridiculous especially since she'd had written that some of the items had arrived. My husband is an accountant and put everything we paid Aurora in a spread sheet along with everything we ordered, and discovered that the amounts didn't add up. They charged us an extra $1800.00 (spreadsheet attached) We then discovered that in addition to the over charge, the dining room light that we ordered was charged at almost $400 more than the price I was verbally quoted, and she also changed the price again before I paid raising it $100 which I didn't notice until after paying. (Picture attached) At best they're incredibly disorganized. My guess is this is a ponzi type situation where they are using their customers money to pay for other things to try and play catch up. I finally went to Lighting Design in Layton. Prices were better. The manager ordered all of my same exact missing items that I'd tried to get from Aurora and looked in her system to see if the items were available. Sure enough they were all in stock and had been for months, and will arrive in 2 weeks. I asked her if it was possible that Aurora couldn't get the items. She kindly shook her head and said she was so sorry but it was obvious the order just hadn't been placed that there were hundreds of each of the items in stock (they were ordered from the same manufacturer). It's been a nightmare. I have quite a few contradictory text and email messages from Candace. I posted a tiny fraction of what has gone on over the past 10 months. Something very fraudulent is happening over there. Avoid at all costs. I know we aren't the only ones they owe money too. read more

Truly terrible experience. Fraudulent business practices. Avoid at all costs. Candice was very helpful initially. She was wonderful picking out the lighting fixtures. Unfortunately, that is where the good news ends. She was very unresponsive, not returning calls or text messages. It was a part time job to try to keep up with my lighting fixtures and their estimated arrival dates. I had to get substitute light fixtures and plates to put over open holes in the wall and ceiling in order to pass inspection. I had to reschedule my electricians several times due to promised delivery dates that never materialized despite many phone calls, text and even stops by the shop. Fast forward two years and I'm still missing 4 sconces. I just bought them online and am threatening legal action to get her to reimburse me for them. I have never left a negative review like this, but I wouldn't anyone else to have this experience. read more

Candice initially is very helpful in getting you to spend your money. After that, it's all out the door. Communication is sorely lacking, professionalism is absent, every excuse in the book including broken limbs, illnesses, and cancer used to justify non-answers. Initially, 3 of the 4 lights were all in stock and to be shipped "soon." Nothing happened for weeks. And then the story flip flopped where a previously "in stock" item was now out of stock, and the "out of stock item" was now in stock. And yet, there's no product delivered. It feels like just enough CRUMBS are dropped in order to buy THEM more time. The question is... for what? I cannot tell what is truth and what is deceit at this point. After reading reviews (Yelp, and Facebook) of very similar interactions, I am now led to believe there is fraudulent activity occurring with this business, and in some cases, straight up theft. I also discovered a legal case against them when they lived in Arizona and were under the name of Arizona Lighting Company. This is very disappointing to discover. Without a real solution (given that no product has been delivered after payment), we will be forced to pursue legal action. read more

Not even worth 1 star. Ordered a fixture and after multiple phone calls attempting to contact owner without success ended up cancelling my order via my credit card company after 6 months of waiting for my fixture. Very unprofessional as well as they have dogs that often occupy space on the showroom floor. read more
