Yoga Joint was like my second home and I got along great with the instructors and made sure I was super sweet to the managers and front desk employees. However, over time it became really corporate and impersonal, the classes felt like you were just part of some factory assembly line and the front desk employee turnaround really took a toll on the customer service. Last summer I received a phone call from a manager, Vanesa Gentile, stating that I should probably cancel my membership because I'm 'unsafe' for asking the front desk employees if it's their job to fix the lockers that weren't working properly as they stared at me blankly when I asked for help finding a locker that worked. After trying to discuss this with the higher ups and receiving the corporate runaround, I promptly canceled my membership. I am so glad that the staff was able to return to their safe space! I now see in other reviews below that I'm not the only person that Vanesa has asked to cancel their membership. I miss the old Yoga Joint

Upon entering the studio, I was wowed at how beautiful inside was. There was a sign to leave your ego outside which I found was witty. It's suppose to be a no judgement zone and a time to relax, which I love. It was a loft style with lovely yoga decor; there were a few Indian god elephant pictures decorated on one of the walls. I was greeted by Shelli, the owner and she was very pleasant. We walked upstairs to her office and I got my card. The card is for the Groupon I purchased; I have 10 classes and each time I attend, she will mark it on the card. She provides yoga mats but you could bring your own. Also, I like that there are no shoes and socks on the studio floor; every pose is done barefoot which reduces slippage. There was one other student besides me and we began to start our one and a half hour class. Shelli put on some zen music and repeated a mantra before class started. The moves were challenging but it was easy enough for a beginner like me. I am very inflexible with my joints so some moves were more uncomfortable for me than others. I managed to keep up and try every pose. She asked me to do a head stand which I was very scared to do. However, she guided me throughout and I did one with her help. I was surprised with what my body could do! The whole experience was relaxing and rewarding. I felt rejuvenated after class. At the end of the class, Shelli repeated another mantra that ended with namaste. Overall, I'm looking forward to the next class and even purchasing a membership. I always wanted to try yoga but I was scared to go to a class because I'm a beginner. I felt really comfortable here at Sabeena Yoga.

It was a very nice cozy studio that is tucked away in a shopping plaza with it's windows facing a fountain, very relaxing to here water streaming as you relax. Our instructor asked what level my friend & I were at and did the class around our abilities and comfort zone. She coached us through maintaining correct position and posture & made us feel great. After, we were very relaxed and didn't over exert our bodies. I will be returning every Monday after work and will bring more friends. There studio is at the beginning of a row of what seems to be warehouses and garage spaces. I got lucky and found a parking spot at the front of the lot. The studio space itself is charming and relaxing. I love the small lights they have hanging from the ceiling, and the temperature inside was cool and comfortable. There was an area to place our personal belongings, and the studio was clean and well taken care of. The class I went there for was done by a traveling group, so I won't go in detail about the experience, but I enjoyed it! I would visit this space again.

For those who don't know about Iyengar yoga it's the real deal, not some competitive, gimmick yoga that has the potential of creating more problems than it solves. I should know, as a 68 year old I've gone to hundreds of yoga classes including some in India. The owner and primary teacher is amazing. She has years of Iyengar yoga experience having studied with BK Iyengar at his Institute in India and going back for advanced training on a regular basis. When I started working with her I could barely move from a series of injuries and significant scoliosis. At first I took private lessons because I was in such bad shape and then began her gentle yoga class. Since attending the weekly gentle yoga class my disabilities have virtually vanished. Ruthanne knows how to deal with just about any physical problem in a confident and therapeutic manner. As a medical professional myself I can attest to her ability to use her yoga knowledge to help all those in her classes. She teaches all levels of Iyengar Yoga, and has a big following of grateful devotees. If you're looking for a real yoga practice experience, this is the place to come.
