Facility itself is nothing to sneeze at, but staff members here can really be hit or miss. The PICU is a bit of a chaotic mess, and some patients argued with staff/yelled while I was there. Day 2 I was transferred to ASU1, which is a heck of a lot calmer. Staff were better here, as well. You can go to the cafeteria for meals, and the groups were a mixed bag. Some, like the music group, were excellent. However, others were not. On ASU1, they take you out for outdoor activities/basketball, which is nice- too bad it was cloudy while I was there. My doctor was amazing, she had a great bedside manner, and respected my needs as a whole. Honestly, between here and Mesa Vista-, I'd go here any day. read more

Having a child who suffers from mental Health Issues is rough enough. Finding a place that can somewhat comfort you is another. This was the second time my child had an episode she shouldn't control. Suicidal idealism & self harming is our challenge. I found comfort in taking her to a "childrens hospital". I had to file a complaint to the Director of Program because their mission statement did not at all match my experience with their staff and my daughters experience in their CAPS program. I understand fully that our healthcare system is overwhelmed but... some healthcare providers becomes numb and I do understand that they are only human so I'll leave it at that. Leave the past in the past because Kaiser & Aurora provided a different experience. Kaiser (thank goodness) took over my daughters ER hold from Childrens. From that point on, the quality of care was just... different. Outside of the food (lol, which all Kaiser staff knew tasted like cardboard) the care Kaiser provided my daughter in their ER were kindness, respect, and compassion. Kaiser is contracted with Aurora. I rushed to Aurora thinking I was going to be able to tour but due to covid restriction and privacy I wasn't able to tour. She also was just on a hold at that time and not fully admitted. My daughter called me 30 mins after being taken to Aurora. Hearing her say "I like it here mom. I'm not worried or scared, everyone is nice. It's nothing like CAPS at all". I exhaled. It was almost dinner time so she said she will call me before she goes to bed. She called me back, I was expecting her feelings will change but no, still a pleased patient. I asked her what was for dinner and she said Lasagna and it was good. She skipped meals at Caps and due to that I brought her food each night she was at CAPS. They even forget to remind the kids to eat at CAPS. Not at Aurora. She told me there was always something to eat even if she didn't want what was being served. That was also comforting. I had to come back to Aurora to drop off clothing to my daughter and I was greeted by one of the Adolescent staff member named Matt (Mathew). Immediately liked him. At 130 a.m I woke up in a panic and called Aurora. Nurse Carla answered the phone. I apologized for the call and told her I just wanted to know how My daughter did for the first night. She read the past notes from the previous shift change and told me she did good and is sleeping well. I apologized again & told her I couldn't sleep and she said, you can call anytime. At 7am sunday she called me and said that The hold expires at 8am and would I like to voluntary admit my daughter. She hasn't met with the psychiatrist yet so I said yes. At 930/10am I received a call from Dr Kam. He told me my daughter was doing well but would like to observe her for another day before talking about discharging. I agreed. They didn't make any changes to her meds which I appreciated. He took his time to have a conversation with me rather than just reading scripted chart notes. Being that 50% of my family are Health care providers, I can appreciate a great dr to pt/pt family conversations. Today Dr Gisalvo (spellcheck) called me to tell me how My daughter was doing and that she was ready to come home. My cousins/nieces/daughter/sister range from phD /RNs/LVNs and CNA. My sister in law is the Director of Nursing at the county psych hospital. I myself is a specialist so I get real pleased when I experience great health care. This is review can go on and on, but I'm actually exhausted so I'm going to finish up. Their social workers kept in touch with me. Every staff I needed to speak to spoke to me. They were never too busy and they didn't forget to return my call. I brought the staff some goodies when I picked up my daughter. While I was doing the exit paperwork, Dr Gisalvo came to speak to me in person regarding her meds. I was so impressed. I was excited to go upstairs because I was going to be able to take a peek at the floor where my daughter was at! There were windows!!!A big screen TV, cafeteria...oh and it smelled good when I passed the cafeteria. I'm pleased to know that there's a place where children are cared for safely and humanely. Thank you to all the staff at Aurora. Only one small negative remark I can leave is for the front office lady. She's an older woman (today at noon) Diff from the front office Saturday afternoon. She was kind and welcoming . This lady today was probably in her 60's or in her 70's. She can work on her greeting skills since she's the first point of contact. She wasn't rude per say but she also wasn't pleasant. read more

WORST place ever. My husband was detoxing from drugs. First time ever. I had no idea what to do. Had questions how his blood work went, which rehab the doctor recommends, etc. I left tons of messages with the nurses for DR SALGUERO. Husband was in there 7 days and the doctor never called me at all. Filed a complaint and Aurora said they would contact me. Of course, they never did. My husband was on SUBOXONE for only 4 days and came back in very bad shape. His psychiatrist put him back on it because he said for his kind of heavy addiction, 4 days were not enough. To top everything off, they sent him home with the wrong prescription, all very heavy opiates! He was in there for the abuse for opiates! They mixed up the prescription with another patient!!! Give me a break! I am writing this so you will be prepared for this place. Hope you find a better place or a better doctor in this facility. All the best! read more

Im here to say that when I went to Aurora at the end of 2016, they had no toloration whatsoever for my gender identity. I told them the minute I was hauled in that I was A a girl and B bisexual and C I was to be called by my preffered name. They put me in a fucking boys room with a boy and gave me a comb and boy hygene. Were they asking me to fuck him? JK. There was this girl there who had no visable acne from the eye of a boy as I was not yet allowed to transform. Infact, she had better skin than other girls there. She was perscribed this cream for acne and I know she said that she wore makeup but I know she was lying because I watched her put the cream on. I asked her about it and she says ",just ask your sphychiatrist" so i did and he said it was only for girls. Otherwise, my stay was great. I healed much and they had an unlimited supply of soymilk. read more

This is by far one of the worst places I've ever been in my entire life the staff is unbelievably bias and rude very violent and overall very unwelcoming i was waiting to be admitted for and HOUR AND A HALF mind you, this place is not busy and I am within earshot vision, the so called "staff" were gossiping about patients and other things completely irrelevant to anything work related there was an unbelievable amount of neglect, as I was hungry after dinner i asked a staff member for food and he said "no you cant have any", and that is not in the right you are not allowed to refuse a patient food, and when i had gotten food the next day and took it too my room i was eating it because, i don't feel comfortable eating in front of people a staff member came in to check on me and told me to hand my food over, I did as told not wanting to start an argument and as he was leaving he started eating it while going down the hallway. The next day i was taking a shower and I was not told dinner was done so I hadn't eating anything and when it came to visiting I said i hadn't eaten and the staff member said they'd get it, 30 minutes later I go back with no food what so ever and I say "so I still haven't gotten food yet" and they said "I forgot" so I started arguing with them and they put they're hands on me trying to get me to calm down but I wasn't having it.. Over all i think you get the point im trying to make, do not send your kid here it is the absolute worst thing you'll regret doing this place is unprofessional and negligent and misrepresented as a "nice place for people to get better". read more

Staff is lazy, inconsiderate, and just overall rude. There is no sense of urgency when it comes to just about everything. Groups are constantly disrupted, people are pulled out left and right just to take bogus meds, get vital signs, and other insignificant reasons that can wait an extra 10 minutes until group sessions are up. My brother killed himself one week after graduating from the outpatient day program here after two months of treatment, including emergency inpatient treatment. Peer review concluded that he was misdiagnosed as depressed but was actually bipolar and should have been taking a mood stabilizer in addition to antidepressants. The seven year anniversary of his death is 10/7/12, and I have not had recent contact or experience with the facility. The medical director at that time has since retired. read more

As previous people stated that this place is bad they are absolutely correct. My husband had been to the ER 3 times in 2 weeks, ran all the tests and got nothing. He is doing crazy things and thinking he is Gods messenger...after he talked to a so called "doctor" their thoughts were to take him to our Primary for a check up.....we had 3 forms from the hospital to show them, they were not interested...after being there 2 hours we walked out more depressed......how can a hospital reflect themselves as a phyco help place and tell you to go to your regular doctor. If these people can't help they should stop representing themselves as one.....TERRIBLE place for any kind of help except billing your insurance for doing nothing....sorry to you all that are looking for help but do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. read more

I came voluntary to detox from alcohol. This place is absolutely horrible. The staff does not care about the patients. Had anxiety attacks, nobody cared or consoled me. I didn't meet with an alcohol counselor once. They give a cigarette break every hour which was nice. But like why are they encouraging us to smoke and further our addictions. Overall I feel like I healed myself and all they did was give me the detox drugs. read more

Went here for suicidal ideation. Was forced to switch medications, which was not consulted through the psychiatrist I've been seeing for months. Immediately forced on Ambien every night, which completely derailed my sleep cycle. Was threatened that if I didn't attend their basic group daily, Dr. Wilke would keep me for an additional 14 days. These groups were topics for stress and redundant check ins. Nurse Dawn made the threat about keeping me longer before coming to my room with a stress ball. A kind gesture until she handed it with, "Here, so you don't mutilate yourself." Thank you Nurse Dawn, I'll think of that plastic surgery altered fake face every time I self harm for ya ;) Also, staff would loudly yell, every hour about smoke break. To the point where patients would get annoyed. It was incessant. Manipulative place that like to keep people longer to get more from insurance companies it would seem. Send your loved ones here if you wish to further harm them or create more triggers and add an emotionally scarring experience to prolong recovery. I also would like to add that I was not seen by a therapist once. Even when I asked to speak to one, I was told there wasn't one available. In a Psychiatric Hospital? Not a single LMFT or Licensed Psychologist I could talk to? A funding issue? Unlikely seeing as how mine and other families pay a couple thousand pretty pennies for this facility to give their loved ones help. Oh, but I was assigned a psychiatrist, Dr. Wilke, right away. Straight to the medication. Ones my insurance would have to pay for as well. And we all know it takes at least a few weeks to feel any effects of meds anyway. So why would a mental health professional make an immediate medication change with no understanding of my history or background & no relationship to refer back to? Ask yourself the same question before considering Aurora & its toxic environment. read more

To begin, I'd like to make it known that almost all the bad experiences and reviews about Aurora are from the INPATIENT service. Contrary to the negativity surrounding the inpatient treatment service here, I can attest that the outpatient program is UNBELIEVABLE. As a 19 year old trying to get sober, I felt alone in the process, as if I was the only person my age that was going through a rough time. After my consultation, I was put in a Dual-IOP group called Freedom to Live, and it has completely changed my life. The group consisted of 6 to 10 young adults no older than their mid-20's, allowing for a genuine, relatable set of people that truly understand the struggles of sobriety and mood disorders at such a young age. Everyone is understanding and non-judgemental about each other's issues, allowing for the group to really be there as a place of support and safety. If it wasnt for Aurora, I can't imagine what life would have continued to be like for me. the people I have met in group have made a lasting impact on my life, and for that I am grateful. read more

Still hate this place. I wrote a previous review under one of my old yelp accounts "Kay T" just couldn't remember my password. But it's been YEARS since I was admitted. Recently, I received a bill for $495.99 from Dr. Maria Bautista. I've never seen this doctor in my life, as I was assigned to Dr. Patel (who at the time was also pretty incompetent). She is charging me almost 4 years after my admittance to Aurora and on top of that she is charging me a late payment fee. I do not know how she gained access to my information as I was never her patient. But this truly reflects on Aurora as a whole. I called them directly but they responded with "unfortunately, I do not know why this is happening now and there is nothing I can do on my side, as the doctors we have are not working through Aurora but independent doctors. You can try to call her office directly." So I do just that. And I have called SEVERAL times over the past few months trying to get in contact with their staff, but I have never heard back. This place is f*cking ridiculous. If you are seeking treatment I'd recommend Mesa Vista over Aurora any day. read more

I was kind of hoping to surprise people with this review, but I see that plenty of bad reviews already exist . I don't know why...it's way better than API. Just me I personally had an issue. You see I'm transgender. I came out to my parents when I was six. As a girl. There were some mishaps, but that says a lot. Admittedly it's already been two years since I went to this hospital.....exactly two years actually. When I got In I told them when they asked that I was female. And yet 11 years after coming out, they put me in a male room. Even though I was bi and female which I told them. I didn't get a brush, or all the things girls are supplied with. Going to the mental hospital....another part of my childhood ruined as I was 17. There were at least three other transgirls there, they all got prescribed this acne cream. I was scoughed at when I asked the sphychiatrist for it. Eventually it got it out of him "It's because you're not a girl" Um, excuse me? read more

Ahahaha...where do I start? Let's see, it was dreadful. The staff was bitter, non-talkative, and cold. The atmosphere of the area was enough to dampen the happiest person's mood. I was put on suicide watch for 72 hours..possibly the worst 72 hours of my life. I was on the adolescence level, so, it might be different on the adult level. We had certain levels to achieve after completing mundane packets and attending "groups" Level 1: (after safety level) Able to go to "school" and/or other levels with the guidance of staff. Level 2: Able to stay up till 9:00, listen to own music, read own paper back book, TV privileges, able to call family for 10 minutes max. Level 3: All of these + outside food (handed in by family members) , bed time at 10:00. I was stuck on level 1 until I left. You are not able to touch anyone or the staff. No comforting hugs. Phone calls are 10 minutes max. The school is crappy (so is the food) limited supplies, cold air, terrible hygiene supplies, no comfort items, everything is out of your hands. You can not do anything about the situation until you get out. You are kept if they feel like you haven't improved. Regardless of if you feel comfortable elsewhere. They treat the patients with more severe issues like garbage. One boy was told that if he didn't behave, his mother would not visit him. He behaved the best he could and got hungry frequently. When trying to say hello or touch others, he'd be shoved by staff and told "don't touch me". It reeked of cleaning supplies and cheap air freshener. The lights outside flickered, making it look like the place was straight out of hell's depths. Seriously, wtf? I would complain more, but, it would go on forever. There were only 4 staff members that I liked that liked me back. The rest glared and ignored me. I was on "meal watch" even though I have no eating disorders. Just because I weigh 73 pounds does not mean I'm anorexic/bulimic. I was taken there specifically for suicide attempts and self harm. Nothing more, nothing less. I had to watch a graphic video on meth which screwed me up. I'm not into drugs or alcohol...in fact, I never have been (and never will be) I was on my last strand of sanity in that place. I managed to make a few friends, only to be told that we can not share numbers/Tumblrs. The only people who helped me...I couldn't keep in contact with. The staff would run their traps about your issues and say things embarrassing out loud. The "doctors" did not care at all and asked very broad questions. The scary thing is, I knew more about the human mind and body than the staff. One is the "medical professional" and the other is the 13 year old. Seriously? This place is dreadful. Well, for me it was. I helped myself. The place made me realize that no where is trashier than there. You learn to lie and cheat your way out. Oh, I almost forgot, that Dominic guy is a dick. No one likes him there. Way to make everyone uncomfortable. I'm having Vietnam-like flash backs just typing this. Excuse me while I go get myself a slice of cake and a cup of tea. Hhhh read more

This facility have grumpy front desk staff members. Gave the staff members the benefit of the doubt since they looked very young and inexperienced; then boom!!! Customer service out the door. Horrible attitude, no smile, no eye contact, and extremely rude. Save your safe time and energy and admit yourself elsewhere. I read the other reviews and wasn't too surprised when they all had just one star. The inpatient unit was literally hell for me. First off, the beds were extremely uncomfortable, and I couldn't get any sleep. The fact that they shined a flashlight in your face every fifteen minutes didn't help much, either! And it was very dirty and unsanitary. I have extreme social anxiety, so I was literally freaking out the whole time because there were too many people I didn't know. I also didn't feel like they paid any attention to me or my needs. They didn't have any food I liked, either. I have a special diet as well so my food choices were very limited, both in inpatient and outpatient. Outpatient was a little better, but not much. I didn't learn any good coping skills there, apart from the ones I already knew. I am also a transgender boy (female-to-male), and the staff refused to call me male pronouns and my male name. When I requested that they treat me as a boy, they just said I didn't know what transgender meant and that I was "just going through a phase." I'm never, ever going here again, that's for sure. If I do have to go to a mental hospital again, it will be one that isn't as crappy as Aurora and has non-transphobic staff members. The disrespect I faced in terms of my gender identity was unacceptable. read more

I was in Aurora for a month and there is a lot of misinformation on the pamphlets and website for this place. First off, I would like to say that there isn't actually equine therapy and there is no visiting whatsoever. The walls and ceilings were falling apart and some had mold growing on them. For a whole two weeks, we had water POURING, not dripping, POURING from the ceiling because of plumbing issues. Not only this, but there is no break or ability to process the intensive care that you are going through and it ended up with a lot of people having full blown mental breakdowns. There are nurses there that are half blind, give medication to the wrong person, give too much medication to patients on accident, or mark the suicide watch book without actually checking on the patient. When asking the floor and nursing staff about their experience in the medical field, some of them said that they had zero experience in the medical field and that Aurora was their FIRST job. Not to mention that the CD counselors were quite unprofessional. Not to say that all of them were that way, but one in specific tries to scare you into submission or picks on patients when they are having an episode. Then all of the CD counselors will go and talk to each other about their patients and then admit it or tell the other patients about what they heard during their little pow wow. We had religious people in our group that could not eat pork and the facility failed to mention that their vegetarian and chicken sausages had pork in them. What is the point of offering a pork replacement if it still has pork in it? And why was no one informed about it until someone mentioned something about it weeks after people were consuming it? Another HUGE bummer about this place that added to the prison vibe is that there was no hot water in anyone's room and there were patients there in March of last year that said there wasn't hot water then either. The list goes on and on about this place and it is no wonder the place has a lawsuit going right now. There is one good thing that I would like to say about this place though. Doctor Wang and my therapist were both AMAZING! They instantly worked on getting me what I needed and managing my medication and episodes. The amount of care that they put in was unmatched and it was seen by all of the other patients that ever had Dr. Wang. Truly, it made my experience there somewhat worthwhile because they knew what they were doing and actually cared about the patients that they saw. read more

I dont recommend this place at all my daughter was here for a week the place was dirty were the kids our looks good when you walk In until you go up to see your kid they also ran out of food when it was my daughter's turn to get her' s my daughter asked to change her room because it smelled like pee and there was bogers on the wall nobody would clean it they told her no but she could sleep in the quiet room there was no bed so she slept on the floor very disappointed. read more

Well, I was hoping to read that this place had turned around since I (almost) worked there as a nurse via Maxim temp agency in early 2018, but the other reviews say not so much. The nurse managing staff are more mentally ill than the patients. I started work there as an agency RN and while waiting for the (late) nurse who was supposed to orient me to one of the inpatient units on the second floor someone changed their mind and sent me home saying " it's a personality thing". Ok fine, somebody didn't like my choice of scrubs or my midwestern accent I'm fine with that, you guys can struggle short-staffed on your own. However, when calling my agency to tell them they'd changed their minds and sent me packing before I'd had a chance to do anything, they tried to blame it all on me! Made up some bs about my being unfamiliar with psych meds? I've been an RN for over 25 years and a psych nurse for 15, so I'm fairly familiar with psych meds. However, how could they possibly know this since I HADN'T PASSED ANY MEDS YET or done anything except fill out new employee forms, get the grand tour and listen to report. So, lying about staff (or anything really) is a deal breaker for me. My advise is go somewhere else if you can. read more

My granddaughter was taken here on a 5150 hold. The first day she was there the psychiatrist called me and talk to me for a whole five minutes. That same day the social worker called to get the paperwork done. After that day I never talk to them again. I asked several times for them to have the psychiatrist and or the social worker call me to talk about her treatment plan. Finally I went in one evening and said I am done I am taking her out of here tomorrow. When I went to get her no one asked for ID no one had me sign anything and no one talk to me about a release plan. They left a paper sitting on the desk by the nurses and wave me out the door. The nurses were very nice and the receptionist were also very very nice. But as for the professionals, they are not professionals. While there my granddaughter learned about pushers and pimps. They couldn't get her meds straight and wouldn't listen to me about the things she needed for different health concerns. I am not impressed. My granddaughter is 16 and was inpatient. read more

My 17 yr old daughter was here for 6 days in May 2022 transferred from Pomerado hospital. Poor communication from the staff & Dr. I had to keep asking over & over for a call from her Phyciatrist when she had been there for over 3 days & they are supposed to call parents with an update after 1st day. As a matter of fact I never got any updates I called daily & had to ask how she was doing & what was going on. The social worker did not find an outpaitent program for my daughter, I ended up doing that myself. She told me she was "working on it" but never called next day or found any soultions for when my daughter was to be discharged. The ABSOLUTE horiffic thing that happened here was my 90lb petite daughter was assaulted by a large male patient punched in the face & shoved into a wall while staff watched & didnt do anything. Needless to say I am outraged & had to pick up my daughter the next morning out of sheer concern for her safety there which makes me extremely upset because she wasnt ready to be discharged (mentally & same issues she went in for) but I had no choice to pick her up early which has been detrimental to her recovery. I filed a complaint with Aurora & someone said they were "looking into it" and would investigate & get back to me..its been weeks & nobody has even gotten back to me. This was a very bad experience for my daughter being there & she felt very unsafe. read more

My teen son needed help and this place was recommended for the IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program). I am a social worker myself, so I have some understanding of these types of programs. This was a complete WASTE of time and money. The admissions process was pathetic--we get there at 7 am and they usher us in with an admissions LVN--all she did was say sign here, sign there. She did not explain ANYTHING to us. She sends us over to the IOP building across the parking lot and the staff there was nice, but again ushering us through. I finally asked if they were going to explain the program to me--how it works, what days/times my son was to be there, etc. So they did. I brought and picked up my son 3 days per week. The therapists were very young and newly graduated social workers who did not even seem to know why my son was there. My son saw a psychiatrist a few times while there and I NEVER received a call from him or any report on what his assessment was of my son. I asked one of the very young counselors what the psychiatrist recommended for my son and she did not know. What I finally realized after weeks in the program is that this program is a boiler-plate psycho-education program, meaning they teach them about coping skills and mindfulness and such. It is very basic and is not therapy at all. My insurance only covered some of it and I have to pay over $1,400 for just about nothing. Received separate bills for the psychiatrist who I never heard from or received any information from. They have an inpatient program and I cannot speak to that as we did not use it. For people who are having mental health issues, this program is not going to help--it is more like a sheep mill ushering people through without appropriate assessment nor individualized treatment. It's more a money making proposition than a place to get help for your teen. Was sent here at 14 years old for struggling with depression. Staff are rude and unprofessional and poorly trained on how to deal with mental health issues. I was 14 years old when they told me they were going to be sending me away to another state for "long term care" I cried to my mom over the phone as any scared youth would being homesick. Nurse Erica Quintana mimicked me as she monitored my phone call. They turned off the phone during my conversation because I was upset. I was obviously upset so I asked why they turned off my call, they decided to go hands on and hold me down as they often do to anyone who is "upset" for any reason since they consider them a "danger" and will pull down their pants and inject them with a drug to make them pass out. This could even be considered sexual harassment and can be very traumatizing to a teen. As they did this, I tried to push the staff off of me. Later on, they decided to press charges on me as an "assault" for pushing staff off of me. I was sent to juvenile hall for 5 months. IF YOUR KID IS HERE YOU NEED TO GET THEM OUT ASAP STAFF ARE ALSO ABUSIVE AND WILL ABUSE THEIR AUTHORITY, GET THEM REAL HELP. A male nurse "Frank" would harass me telling me he "knew everything about me and could read my file" I told him I was suicidal and he encouraged me to kill myself by responding "Then just do it" a nurse named Kyle even overheard this conversation and admitted to me that behavior was unacceptable which was nice however. Nurse frank still continued to bully me after since he was not fired. Any time I would file a complaint he would take it out of the box before anyone read it. THIS IS ONLY SOME OF THE ABUSE. I just got out of this place after a month long alcohol program. The nurses here are top notch, Holly, Ms. Devine. Jem. Judy!! The facilities are a complete joke, ASU 4 is the newest ward and has not had working sinks in the rooms for over 2 years. When the staff is asked about this, they put their arms up and say the administration is looking into it. ASU-2 has a major hot water issue that they have known about for the last year and have made no attempt to rectify the situation. If you are in one of the lucky rooms, you might get 30 seconds of hot water before it turns cold. The meals are mediocre at best. If you look at the website, they claim they have a gym, outings, equestrian days, and yoga. They have a "gymnasium" that has a partially working Elliptical, and 2 temperamental treadmills. There is no weightlifting equipment at all. The facility continually claims that it is a covid issue. Beware of what little gymnasium time you will get, the staff is hesitant to provide and cleaning wipes or spray, Ever hear of MRSA? As a military member I put my name on every critique form that I submitted and invited the administration to view my complaints. No one ever showed up. Do not give this place your business, stay at SARP and get quality treatment from a military that shockingly cares more about your needs than this place. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

I am not compelled to write reviews. In fact, it think this is the first review I have written. Given that, I am kind of blown away by the negative reviews I just read (maybe an artifact of the Yelp default sort process). I am only familiar with the Outpatient side of treatment in San Diego... I was in Dual IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program) a total of three times. Once probably would have been enough had my insurance allowed completion of the program. The fact that I am finally doing well in recovering from my addiction (alcohol) is due in no small part to my counselor (Amy Turner... awesome!) and to Alcoholics Anonymous (advocated by the staff). My rating reflects my experiences with the Outpatient side of the house. All of the staff I encountered were helpful, friendly, and supportive. Inpatient may be different, but that is kind of hard to imagine based on my experiences with this Aurora facility in general. I certainly would recommend it to help overcome the demons any addicted person is dealing with. Why four stars and not five? I can't help but think the people who deal with insurance companies could have made a more compelling case to fix me the first time (totally subjective and emotional I know). read more

They were wonderful and caring to my son and our family! The staff listened to our needs and addressed my sons depression with a quick diagnosis. They got him on meds to help him. My son just fininshed up outpatient php and really liked it! read more

This place administratively is a JOKE! Their staff in the business office is extremely rude and arrogant! Since there are not many options for behavioral health in San Diego you are kind of handcuffed but I believe Scripps has an in and outpatient program so I would steer you that way. I am getting bills 8 months later for Psychyatrist visits in IOP I was not made aware of nor made aware that they were charged separately. RUN FAR AND RUN FAST from this place and find other alternatives especially for inpatient. My child liked Cat and Saleem in IOP but not even how great they were make up for how poorly run this place is. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE! read more
