I was just in the other day (Nov 2023) to buy new tires. Canby is a small town so it's important to take care of the locals - people who support your small business! Quality is less than stellar. Value - very high prices compared to other local tire stores... but there's more! From the moment I rolled into Point S Tire Store, the service was deflating. I was greeted not with a smile, but with a frown that seemed to foreshadow the bumpy ride ahead. I came in hopeful, ready to equip my car with the best tires for the season. Instead, I was presented with a set that was as mismatched to my car as a square peg to a round hole. The staff, while not outright rude, had an air of disinterest that could chill the rubber on a hot summer day. Their expertise seemed to be running on empty, as they assured me the tires were a perfect fit. NO! I know what tires are supposed to be on my car and they did not sell the correct tires. This can be a deadly mistake. And the prices? Sky-high. I expected premium service and products for the premium cost, but what I received was a premium headache. It's clear that Point S Tire Store needs to pump up their customer service, realign their expertise, and deflate their prices to stand a chance at a better review in the future. They are always honest about what I'm expected to pay for the service and never go the cheap route when it comes to replacing anything on my car or servicing it. I don't even live in Canby anymore and still bring my car to them because I know the job will always be done right and sometimes they will get it done sooner than expected. Also it's always nice walking into the shop and they remember you by name especially a place where most people feel overwhelmed taking their car in to get serviced for the first time... needless to say you should feel very confident getting work done here!

Things started off poorly when I arrived for an appointment that I had scheduled in advance and was told I didn't have one. After showing voicemail messages and phone records confirming the appointment, it was acknowledged that I did have one, but I was informed that several other vehicles would now be ahead of me. Over the next several months, with my approval, additional work was added beyond the original estimate. When I finally received the vehicle back, the bill was nearly three times higher than the original quote. Unfortunately, the vehicle immediately developed a severe oil leak from the valve cover area. I was instructed to bring it back, but no tow was offered or suggested despite the severity of the leak. I checked the oil level and attempted to drive it back to the shop. The engine failed and locked up just a couple of miles away, requiring me to have it towed in. After discussing the situation, we agreed that installing a rebuilt engine would be a fair resolution. I agreed to pay $500 for labor and another $500 to add wiring for the oil pressure and generator warning lights. Nearly a year later, I received a call that the vehicle was finally ready for pickup. However, it barely made it a couple of blocks before I discovered the brakes were dragging badly. This was especially frustrating because brake work had been part of the original repair request. The shop kept the vehicle for another couple of weeks before I was able to pick it up for a third time. At that point, I was informed that the newly installed engine would carry absolutely no warranty. After all the time, money, and frustration involved, I ultimately sold the vehicle just to recover some of my expenses. Throughout the entire process, the attitude and communication were overwhelmingly negative and only seemed to worsen over time. What's particularly disappointing is that I used this shop about 17 years ago and received excellent service. I later learned that the mechanic who performed that work has since passed away. Sadly, the quality of service I received this time was nothing like what I remembered. Based on my experience, I would strongly advise others to look elsewhere. I would never want someone else to go through what I experienced here.

I never had the impression they really knew what they were doing with regards to the rebuild and they never used the transmission service manual that I had provided with them at the time which was incredibly detailed and helpful. I ran into my old retired mechanic recently, who I think very highly of, who seemed to think highly of this shop, so I thought I'd contact them before finally ( yes years later) leaving a negative review. This was pretty much out of desperation as this car, more or less just sits in storage now because of these guys. They were unwilling to help me and were rather dismissive. Also, I've never had a shop get my carpet so dirty, it took years to get the grease stains out of my carpet which especially in a classic car you would think they would be extra careful of.
