There was a rough stone retaining wall along the side that caused several deep gouges and scratches. Of course, I couldn't believe I had been so careless. I brought my car to my Chevrolet dealership to get a repair estimate and I was shocked--over $4000! They said they would have to replace the rear bumper (which only had the bad scratches, no dents or other damage). I then went to several auto body and paint shops and was able get some lower prices but still $2000 and up. I looked on line for a touch-up paint kit and was able to determine the exact color code for my car and find some inexpensive small touch-up paint bottles. I knew this was not a viable long-term solution but perhaps I could at least paint the very visible white scratches and gouges while I found a more reasonable professional paint solution. The touch-up paint did somewhat cover the most visible damage, so from a distance you could not as easily notice the damage. But I did notice the touched-up areas looked like a different shade than the correct blue of my car, it looked a bit purple. I happen to have an expensive professional color scanner (Nix) and it provides highly accurate RGB (red-green-blue) values. The car natural paint measured values for blue and green and zero red content. When I measured the cap of the touch-up paint, it also showed the correct blue shade very accurately. But putting a small test swatch of the touch-up paint on a white surface clearly showed the purple-leaning shade. And measuring the small touched up areas on the car also showed this purple tinted color. At this point I just presumed that the color was off because I didn't properly prepare the surface or didn't buff the finished result. I looked on line again for a painter and found Dent Expert Mobile. I contacted them through their website and they said to upload several pictures of the damaged area. They quickly got back to me with a lower price than any of the paint shops I had contacted. They said they could do the complete repair in my driveway or garage in less than a day and they had an opening in a few days. All the other quotes were several weeks out and from several days to 2 weeks to do the job. So, I booked an appointment with scratch and dent repair. I couple of days later Johnny arrived, looked at the damage and started the work. He carefully masked the damaged area, sanded down the damaged area, applied a primer, filled some of the deep scratches, applied the new blue paint and finally the clear coat. Johnny has a complete color lab in his van and is a genius at exact color matching. I had told him that I had tried touch-up paint first but at that point, I didn't realize the contents of the touch-up paint can was wrong. As soon as Johnny removed all the masking we could see the color was wrong and the first thing he said was I'll have to repaint it at no charge. It was also that purple tint. I felt really bad that I had unknowingly and unintentionally mislead him with that bad touch-up paint. So, a day later he came back, remixed the paint, this time to the precise and correct blue shade. End result was perfect. You cannot see any evidence of the scratches or damage. I am astonished at how good he is at mixing paint in his color lab in the back of his van. I know how hard this is to do and get accurate results. So, I highly recommend Johnny. Nice and honest guy, genius color match, professional surface prep and painting. Very reasonable and quick. What more could you want. Wayne J
