Just went back for a follow up cleaning. I havent taken care of my teeth as much as i should and bad teeth run in my family so i told myself id be better at it. My gums are already better since the last time i was there. Jillian was great as always and the staff is always super nice. I paid $119 for the cleaning, which i guess seems to be norm based on what my friende say. Not a good experience! I went for a regular cleaning and they told me I needed to get a deep cleaning for my bottom teeth and the dentist also told me I had SEVEN cavities. All in costs of about $1,200 for the whole treatment. Since I have never had a cavity before, I decided to get a second opinion. I got a referral from a friend for another dentist and did a cleaning and full examination. I did not have any cavities and only needed a regular cleaning. Really disappointed with their services, be aware of their recommendations and seek a second opinion before spending any meaningful amount for their treatment. Received a very disappoint Invisalign treatment here, and I do feel this dental office is a scam. Here is my story. (They just changed their name to "T.R.U.E. Dental La Jolla".) I went to this place for cleaning and filling last year after I move to San Diego. They did a decent job for that, so when they recommended me using their Invisalign service to straighten my teeth and correct bite, I did not suspect too much and made my payment in full ($6200), and then start my treatment in Oct 2016. They promise me that "Invisalign can do everything and you will have a perfect, beautiful smell after finish these trays." In Aug 2017 I finished my Invisalign treatment and below is my Final result. My lower teeth are still crossing just like before, and my deep bite does not get fixed at all (I put my picture below). I went to their office and asked for a refund in Oct-2 2017. The manager told me she has to forward my refund request to accounting office in somewhere Northern California and what I can do is just wait for their reply. Today is Oct-26, and I don't receive any response from them. I went to their office during this time, and the manager became extremely impatient and told me there is nothing she can do. I talked to my current dentist as well as an attorney about this issue, both of them alert me this is not a usual process, and I should pay attention to that. Here are some weird things I feel about this dental office: (1) The dentist, hygienist, and staff here are changed extremely frequently. During my less than a year Invisalign treatment, the Doctor here was changed 3 times. Dr Debbie Kim, Dr. Reesor and Dr. Nosak. I asked Dr Nosak in Aug why my Invisalign treatment result is failed while I do wear them at least 22 hrs a day. He told me it is because my teeth are not being tracked correctly. And when he takes over my case I only have 4 trays left so he can do nothing about that. We had a great conversation, and I accept to do refinement by him. Two months later I called this office and asked them how's my Invisalign refinement goes, and they told me the doctor here is changed AGAIN and I have to keep waiting until Dr Saeedi get her license for Invisalign. I think I am a quite easygoing person but what this dental office did really drives me crazy. (2) Their price for Invisalign treatment is quite high, but the result they gives me is quite bad. I paid them in full for $6200, including a $1200 retainer called Vivera. I don't even know that after I got the bill breakdown this Oct. After I got the bill and did some research, I was shocked that the general price for full Vivera should be around $600, and the general cost for full Invisalign should be around $3800. This dental office charged too much but cannot provide the services which should be matched. (3) The Doctor name shows in my Invisalign pack is Dr. Richard Evangelista, but I never ever met him. I asked the manager for a reason, and she told me is because Dr. Richard Evangelista takes charge of this office. I feel this is quite weird. Does the Doctor name shows in my Invisalign package should my "real" Doctor instead of the boss of the office? (4) Every time I come back for Invisalign check-ups during my treatment time, usually a month or two, the person I met is always a hygienist or a staff, instead of a Doctor. And what they did is just gave me the trays. In that time, I just thought it is a usual way, but now I really want to ask them: what's the point for a "check-up" if what you guys did is just gave me the trays instead of take a look at my teeth and see how it goes? (5) Their equipment to do Invisalign treatment is out of date, and the staff who is using this equipment are not professional enough. When Invisalign treatment starts, you need to "model" your teeth and send them to Invisalign Company. What this office use is something like clay, put them into your mouth and wait it becomes hard. My first "modeling" process is failed due to their unprofessionalism operate, so I have to wait 4 months (Oct 2016 until Fed 2017) to actually start my treatment. However, the usual waiting time should be around 1 month if they did things correctly. My current dental office using a machine called iTero Scanner to do "modeling" and the whole process is very quick and comfortable. When I did some research online, I surprisingly found so many dental offices are using iTero Scanner today but this office, still using those clay stuff. For any new patient who is searching for a dentist, I highly recommend you guys stay away from this dental office based on my horrible experience. Again, they just changed their name to T.R.U.E. Dental La Jolla, but the Doctor/administration/staff are the same. Please be aware of that. read more

I was told I had 4 cavities and needed wisdom teeth extraction ASAP. I had gone to the dentist back home two months prior and was told everything was fine. I also had a chipped tooth that I asked them not to fill, but before I even noticed, there was a needle in my gum and another hundred or so dollars added to my bill. On top of that, my wisdom teeth were supposed to be removed by a specialist but since I could not make the day the specialist came in, my wisdom teeth were extracted immediately. I was put under local anaesthetic and witnessed another man teach the dentist right there and then how to remove a wisdom tooth. This felt incredibly unprofessional and I felt like a test guinea pig. At some point, I remember telling him I was in pain at some point but he shut me down saying It was "just pressure". It was traumatic. I don't think I would've received such treatment if I weren't a student. I would not recommend this place and am still very angered about my experience. read more

I have to say I'm really not impressed with the dentist office. I really felt like they were trying to sell products and unnecessary services throughout the entire appointment. We came here because we got a Groupon for the a standard cleaning and a dental exam, and boy do they try to sell you on different products as soon as you walk in. The front desk girl and a dental hygienist verbatim said the exact same thing to us about our teeth, which made it so obvious that there are so many sell tactics going on there. The boo had his teeth cleaned first, and they told him he had all kinds of gum diseases, which we've never heard from any of his previous dentist before, and gave him a $4000 bill option at the end for all the services that he would need. I had seen a previous dentist who did similar things in terms of trying to upsell products, so I walked in to my appointment very firm and clear about the fact that I just wanted a cleaning and my x-rays done. And for whatever reason, magically my teeth had no problems with them, I just think that's ridiculous, and so obvious that they think they can just upsell whatever. The dentist office is incredibly beautiful, and super modern with all the latest unnecessary technology. So it was very obvious where all of that extra money was going. I just wanted a freaking cleaning not to go to a five diamond movie theater. They told the boo they would not do the cleaning for him, because and I quote two different people said this, "doing a standard cleaning would just be like rubbing salt into a wound". So ridiculous I paid you money, if I wanted a deep cleaning then we would book for another appointment, I asked for standard cleaning just provide the service I asked for or give me my money back, simple as that. we have to go back unfortunately, because we purchased the two appointment plan, but I promise you this, we will not be going back after the Groupon has finished. read more

Great experience today. The best cleaning and consultation. I really appreciated the doctor doing the work and ensuring as new customers I was aware of X-ray and exam concerns. In between employers so the Groupon helped with out of pocket expenses. The staff was also friendly professional and experienced. The office facility and equipment was state of the art. On staff are other practitioners and specialist so you can schedule all appointments at same facility. OK, third update: The office looked back through the billing history and (finally) cleared the insurance issue, giving me a refund, which I consider to be fair and am thankful that was done. I won't question the mechanism that caused this event to occur. I'm still concerned about the difference between the 'crown' that I was supposed to get and how that same crown ended up as a more minor filling when done by another dentist, but I have to recognize that different dentists will see a person's mouth and teeth in a different way. All the more reason to get second opinions when faced with suggested multi-thousand dollar treatments. I am still wary of this practice and won't return, but I'm respectful of the extra work that was done to make up for the way I was treated earlier. read more

I have never gotten any dental work done my entire life nor am I fond of the idea of going to the dentist. With that being said, my experience at beautiful smiles has been phenomenal, to say the least. Dr. Kim took great care of me and reassured me that she was going to help me. She also made me feel at ease every time I visited. Even if I just go in for some cleaning, Dr. Kim and Lavina would come by to say hello and see how I was doing, they're super friendly! This was my first dental visit here after getting the military. Shanelle was very helpful with the directions to the office and going over all the coverages, just with giving a basic rundown of everything. Julian the dental assistant to was just as helpful answering questions and giving advice as to what I should be doing and can do to protect my teeth. I feel this place is sketchy: very high-pressure sales, and very high-priced. Cannot recommend. After examining me, they suggested a "Deep Cleaning" to eliminate my tartar buildup. $700 ... for a cleaning. Let me repeat: $700 for a cleaning. I said "no thanks". They also recommended replacing 6 of my old fillings. They used high pressure, fishy slogans like "bacteria is getting under your old filings". Later the _same_ day I went to get a second opinion (I was lucky that there was an appt available at my friend's dentist). The other dentist said my teeth were overall fine ... and maybe one filling could be replaced (and it could wait). Second dentist did a full cleaning for under $150. Another strange thing is that they have revolving dentists working there. My dentist was Bita T; but if you read the older reviews, the name of the dentist changes every 6 months or year. Turnover rate seems higher than average. When I left Austin Dental Arts, I felt like I needed to take a shower. read more

I've never been to an establishment with better customer service, everyone here is so friendly and they genuinely care about your well being and want what's best for you. If I had not come here when I did, I would've ended up needing at least two root canals, but the doctor saved my teeth and my sanity. Moreover for the quality of care and treatment give you, they are definitely giving you the fairest price imaginable- they definitely even undercharged me for treatment because they wanted what was going to keep the longevity of my teeth. Not to mention, if you're a student, the location is perfect and ucship covers almost anything you could need. Let me start off by saying I am no fan of the dentist, nor the pain that accompanies a typical visit for that matter. But taking a visit to Austin Dental, first speaking with with Shanelle she made me feel like I was a long time friend and really calmed my nerves and made me feel welcomed which is something I always look forward to. Secondly, Julian the Dental assistant was just a joy to work with, he made me laugh he really explained himself every step of the way and made me understand step by step what was going on which took away the mystery and made the whole process feel natural and less scary, on top of the whole situation engaging me in interesting conversation made the pain of it all feel almost gone which of course I didn't mind at all(you can escape the pain of a dental visit after all right?)
