Disappointed in the fact that I spent over 5000 to close my gap. When I got to the end of my treatment I requested a permanent retainer. Instead they told me to go into "a healing process" which was basically MORE retainers and money. The healing phase was supposed to go on for a year. AFTER my healing phase I expected to go back and get the "buttons" removed from my teeth. INSTEAD they have CLOSED my case without send ANY NOTIFICATIONS. So now I have MISSED the free Whitening that's included within the 5000 because their products have stained my teeth. ALSO My GAP IS BACK and now they are requesting 4000 to simply FINISH the process that we started.. I FEEL SCAMMED. I wouldn't recommend going here. I do not recommend this dentist (Eshom): 1. He took a picture of my teeth after placing composites on front teeth before the composites were shaved. I felt the composites in my teeth were very long and still jagged because they were not shaved yet, but I noticed Dr. Eshom went ahead and took pictures of my teeth in that stage without communicating with me of his intent and later when I asked his assistant for those photos, she either denied me or never sent them in my email. My Invisalign should have been short and easy given that I had braces as a teenager. It didn't work after the initial 5 month course so they tacked on 9 more weeks and it still didn't work. The operation of the office is a mess. The staff don't communicate important info to each other. They don't respond to emails. If you complain that you felt ignored they throw personal problems in your face to try to guilt you or say they were out that day. Clumsiness was apparent up front. To put on Invisalign buttons they only prepared one of two molds so they scrambled to prep the 2nd one on the fly. It was very awkward being in the chair as the tension built and the dentist and technicians started snipping at each other. The dentist tried to apply buttons to my crowns which they of course can't adhere to. It was apparent this was her first go of it and I was her test dummy. Most galling was when we discussed how were going to get my initial failed treatment on track, the technician had the nerve to try to upsell me on bonding and wisdom tooth extraction. I told her my *dentist* told me the wisdom tooth could stay and asked if she was a dentist. She said "I'm like the PA of the dentist office" and something about how my dentist's x-ray might be inferior. Unbelievable! Reading Dr. Eshom's replies to upset customers, something jumps out: they can be summed up as "I'm sorry you're unhappy but we did everything right and your complaint is unreasonable." It's the same sort of stubborn nonsense you get from the office staff and I see now that they modeled their communication style off the boss. What a bunch of clowns. read more

I had BioClear done on top 4 front teeth in mid 2023 and earlier in 2025 another top 4 teeth. They have held up, look natural and are a great innovation to avoid veneers that require shaving the teeth and also cannot be shaped any other way thicker for example. I like that they can be repaired rather than replacing like veneers. I had front chipped teeth and wear and they made a difference. Dr Eshom had an assistant who he double checked for her feedback so that made a nice team. The office is very upscale, clean and spa like experience. The cost is aligned with the industry. I drove an hour for this from OC and found his recommendation to be comfortable to move forward. I have an alternative dentist nearby for my routine exams etc who also has some advanced skills like biomimetic and BioClear. Scheduling is not difficult if you just allow the time, and once I requested to fix some very small BioClear flaws that was easily accommodated and fixed last year. I tend to do a lot of research before making choices and believe Dr. Eshom does a good job on the cosmetic. I started the treatment with optimism, that my bite would look great and have no other issues. I now have a cross bite, which I did not have at the start of the treatment. Dr. Eshom told us that this is somewhat problematic, but he said," Let's give it a year and see it again." We came in recently, and he said," Your bite looks amazing!", yet when speaking with my dentist, he said," You need treatment due to the cross bite", which contradicts what Dr. Eshom said. Dr. Eshom has now closed my treatment, and I am left with a new pressing problem. Dr. Eshom not only left us with a problematic bite, but with no future forward, what a shame to his practice! A doctor must recognize their responsibility to their patient first and foremost. In this case, Dr Eshom failed to fix my cross bite that his treatment caused . Update to Dr. Eshom's false statement Unfortunately Dr Eshom, this is not true at all. Before I left for college we discussed the cross bite issue again, you told me to give it some time, and come again when I am in town to continue the unfinished treatment. I visited again to check on if my cross bite had improved and you told me that my cross bite is perfect. This was far from the truth. Now in the comment you told me that I should go for a further treatment to an orthodontist. This was never said at the start, and you said that my bite was perfect. A Frustrating Ordeal: My Disastrous Experience with Dr. Eshom It's with great disappointment that I write this review after two years of continual frustration and dissatisfaction with Dr. Eshom's services. My simple wish was to have straight bottom teeth. Errors were frequent and significant, starting immediately with the misjudgment that altered the alignment of my, until that point, straight upper teeth and then spending 18 months trying to move them back. ....yet to be achieved! This crucial mistake, admitted but never adequately explained or apologized for by Dr. Eshom, snowballed into a series of corrections and adjustments, significantly prolonging the treatment from the six-month estimate to 2 years. Incompetence seemed to mar the process continually. Key aspects were confusingly mishandled. Dr. Eshom appeared frequently uninformed and oblivious, once promising a thorough review of my file that never materialized. The communication, or lack thereof, was exasperating, filled with unmet promises and a distressing absence of essential follow-ups or clarifications. Moreover, the impact extended beyond financial strains, causing substantial disruptions in my professional life and personal well-being. The numerous office visits, always intruding on work hours, led to unavoidable inconveniences and professional compromises, further aggravating the overall dissatisfaction. I wrote to him after he told me that the treatment had been "completed". He didn't reply to that email. A month after sending it I called his office to ask if it had been received. They told me that it had and he would get back to me. A month later I still hadn't heard and called again. My case manager said "Dr Eshom said he is sorry it took so long" and offered to send me a cheque for $1000, an offer I refused. I still have not had an explanation for the error made, or a suggestion as to how it can be remedied. Following a $5000 treatment expense, his offer was both insufficient and indicative of a lack of genuine accountability or understanding of the issues' gravity. In conclusion, my experience was marked by an alarming lack of professionalism, continuous errors, unfulfilled promises, and insufficient accountability. The worst part about relocating is trying to replace your doctors. I have used Dr. Eshom's office for my dental cleaning for six years and feel fortunate to have met Dr. Eshom then. As nervous, scared, and anxious as I was already about someone screwing up or having a bad experience... at some point, dr. eshom started building my teeth with the white composite making my two front teeth much longer than it should be, suddenly he has a camera and takes a snapshot of my teeth with this costume like teeth in my mouth which was humiliating and confusing why for any reason he'd need to keep such a photo. he never asked for permission and just started taking these photos. I would've said no if it wasn't my first time and being alone in the room and nervous I regret not having the guts to tell him "No! don't take any photos of me!" his bedside manners was horrible, while telling me how he has to rush to the airport afterwards to pick up his daughter at the airport made me feel my teeth were being built with a hurry had me concerned and irritated as I was already in the seat. later, I asked his closest assistant to provide those photos and she made this excuse that prevented me from seeing all these photos including the one he took of me with long rabbit teeth like composites which was disturbing. years later, an unknown brown spots detected under the white composite of my teeth and growing under its edges are most disappointing to see occur as I had the impression taking care of these teeth 24/7 as I have and going to an expensive dentist like him would make a difference in quality and longevity is NOT guaranteed. i do not recommend this dentist and their office for these matters concerning my experiences. go elsewhere and good luck. Honestly, there is no customer appreciation or loyalty here. I've done 20 bio clear paying almost 30k for them and they want to charge me for cancellation fees when I've had to reschedule appointments. My last teeth cleaning they told me the fee was waived because I was sick and today after giving way over 48 hour notice I'm told I have to pay the waived fee from last time and another cancellation fee. I understand there are policy's in place, but I had called way ahead of time. And quite frankly the bio clear aren't even that great for the price I paid! I was just going to live with it, but after how I've been treated here by the frost desk Im coming out on here about my honest opinion. I got the whitest shade around a year and a half ago and they are already stained! NOT long lasting at all. Not to mention, there are little imperfections in the teeth that I have gone in for to fix which never got resolved. If you decide to go here just be aware you bio clear will STAIN after a year and you will be charged for rescheduling appointments after already spending almost 30k for stained teeth. Stay away! Sneaky and predatory billing practice. I scheduled an appointment for routine preventive dental care. When I asked them, "do you accept my delta dental ppo insurance?" they said, "yes." On the day of my visit, they asked me to pay the bill in full and then seek reimbursement, which I thought was odd. The receptionist reassured me that there will most likely be no trouble with insurance. I had a bad feeling since I, as a physician myself, witnessed so many cases in which the patient had to fight the clinic and insurance companies to get full reimbursement. Sure enough, when I got the check from my insurance company, I was left with a large unreimbursed bill. I called the clinic to inquire what happened and Amber (clinic manager?) finally admitted that the clinic is considered out of network for all PPO insurance providers. She mentioned that the clinic provides great service, which is the reason for the cost, but my main issue is not the clinical service, but the unexpected bill that could have been prevented. I would argue that they tricked me into believing that they accept my insurance (i.e. in network) but in reality they were out of network. I would have given them 1 star for the unexpected bill and most importantly my precious time wasted on phone calls, but I still thought the dental hygienist and the doctor provided great care and they they at least decided to meet me "half-way" with the unreimbursed bill. In summary, this clinic could be a great choice if you are very rich and don't mind getting hit with unexpected bills. read more

I really want to try this dentist but worried about all the hassle that I might face with billing & reimbursement. You should know this before making an appointment so you don't waste your time showing up there and being asked to pay the whole amount and process the reimbursement afterwards. The time and effort it will take to deal with this reimbursement is a hassle I don't want to do. I have never experienced this kind of service with other dentists even with out of network dentists. This dentist is out of network with all insurances, but work with PPO per clerk. They are fee for service, in which they collect at the time of your service and they will handle all the claims for your appointments. It was s three years ago and I have had his crown fracture (year 2) and then the root canal relapsed in year three. My current dentist and endodontist both have severely criticized his shoddy work. One called him a hack, which I agree. Go to a endodontist or a better dentist for anything beyond s teeth cleaning. They are more expensive than other dentists; instead of dealing with the insurance company themselves they made me pay the full amount and made me recover the difference from the insurance company. I've gone beyond using them for Invisalign to seeing Pam for my cleanings and Dr. Nip for my tooth issues. They remember everyone who comes in by first name, and they all always say hello! So it really feels like they care about you and it knocks the edge off that I usually have when going to the dentist. Just to be totally clear, I HATE the dentist. I am one of those people that used to have to take a valium before going into any dentist office. But, with the overall kindness, I really have been able to relax. I found Dr. Eshom's office of Yelp when I was in a panic, and they came to my rescue! I have an old cheerleading injury that left me with two front teeth needing veneers. I had veneers from somewhere else and they had fallen out for a fourth time when I decided I had enough and I wanted to spend the money necessary for the quality I wanted. I called and left a message late Sunday night and they got back to me first thing Monday morning! When I arrived I was greeted with friendly staff that was so understanding that I was distraught over my at the moment super glues veneer! Dr. Eshom took photos of my smile and discussed with me what he thought we should do and he made me feel so much better just in the initial consult. After a couple visits we realized veneers were not for me, due to the shade of my teeth since they have had root canals over 10 years ago and have started to darken. Dr. Eshom and his team never gave up and we decided together crowns were the best fit for me. I AM SO HAPPY WITH MY CROWNS! They looks so natural they feel great and nobody would ever know they aren't my real teeth. They had a lab tech come to my appointment to match the shade right there, and he matched them perfectly he was like an artisit! It's been about a month since I got the crowns and they are holding up amazing, I went and got a cleaning from one of their hygienists and she was so nice and I felt assured she would make sure my crowns would always be kept in the best condition. I am almost 25 and have been going to Dr. Eshom since I was 18. He is amazing and always so welcoming. As a teenager with not many resources he was more than willing to help me get my teeth to where I wanted them to be. I will never go anywhere else as long as I live in San Diego. The best! Oh and Amber, the receptionist there, amazing! So sweet and caring. I remember one time I couldn't get anyone to watch my daughter during my appointment and I thought I would have a stressful appointment for sure. However, when I got there they weren't very busy, so Amber and another woman who worked there held her until she fell asleep so I could get my exam and not have to reschedule. Let me start by saying that Dr. Eshom's office is equivalent to the Nordstrom of dentistry. That's about the best compliment I could give a business. I say that because their customer service and care for their patients in unparalleled. Everyone I have interacted with in their office has been amazing and genuine. I'm originally an Invisalign patient but recently became a general dentistry patient of theirs as well. I had been going to other dentists that were in network to try to keep my costs low and realized that in the long run, my costs would be lower going to Dr. Eshom (out of network) because his office is not giving me a treatment plan full of things I don't actually need done and in the long run, his office is keeping the structure and health of my teeth strong by taking his approach to my treatment plan. I'm now a patient for life no matter the fact that they're out of network. I'm so fortunate to have my Invisalign case manager be Brooke. She is a rockstar and I hope the office knows how fortunate they are to have her. She has gone above and beyond to make sure that everything goes smooth for me with Invisalign and for my general dentistry needs. I actually had my front tooth done by Dr. Ta, who works in the same practice. I have had my front tooth redone literally 6 times since it's been chipped when I was 12. All of my questions were answered, i received phone calls asking how i was, and no joke i left there after the final appointment saying, so that's it? When do i get to see you guys again? I felt like a dear friend to everyone in the office and I can't say enough how beyond happy i am. I can't stop starring in the mirror. My 9 year old looked at me and said "momma your teeth look so beautiful, I don't ever want you to stop smiling". I won't ever take a pic again with my mouth closed like I did my entire life. This is my forever dentist. The building is beautiful, the office is beautiful. The staff is SO friendly, and I don't think I've ever waited more than one minute to be taken in once I sit down in the lobby. I have nothing but great things to say about Dr. Eshom and his staff!! :) I did a lot of research on Invisalign and dentists who perform Invisalign treatment. Dr. Eshom was always at the top of the list! I just completed my Invisalign treatment and I couldn't be happier with the results! Dr. Eshom was warm and friendly from the beginning. He helped me feel much more at ease with the process. He took the time to listen to my concerns, answer all of my questions, and to show me the potential results. He is very patient - I had a lot of questions! Towards the end of my treatment I felt like I wanted to make an additional change to how my teeth moved in a certain area of my mouth. Dr. Eshom completed a new scan and sent off for more trays for me at no additional cost. He assured me that he would work with me until I was happy with my results. From start to finish, the entire process took about 7 months and I am happy as can be! Brooke was also amazing to work with! She helped me develop the smile I was looking for. She bent over backwards to find innovative solutions to help mold my smile. I am so thankful of her and her advice! The girls at the front desk are also very friendly and kind. Amber was amazing at figuring out the best plan when it came to my insurance and my portion of the cost. Dr. Eshom's cost was one of the lowest I saw for Invisalign during my extensive research. One of the things I will miss most about San Diego besides the good Japanese food is Dr. Schreiner . She is Dr. Eshom's (newish) associate and goodness, I truly had the luck of the teeth gods with me by having her as my dentist for the past few months. While I would probably recommend Dr. Eshom if you're looking for more cosmetic treatment, I wholly recommend Dr. Schreiner for your more typical dental needs. She accepts Delta (that means you, UCSD grad students!) and is really one of the sweetest but also most careful dentists I've met. She's fairly young but extremely thorough when examining teeth/X-rays and conducting fillings. What impressed me most about her was her gentleness combined with her perfectionism. Even if she doesn't do cosmetic dentistry now, I imagine that if/when she does, these qualities will make her excellent at it. Perhaps what I am most grateful for is Dr. Schreiner's willingness to work with my student budget in determining a suitable treatment plan for my dire teeth. Unfortunately, I left San Diego before we could finish this entire plan, but Dr. Schreiner really addressed the worst of my cavities. I haven't experienced any pain since the week after the fillings were done (although I did increase my flossing frequency as well as introduce unsweetened Greek yogurt back into my diet) and for that, I really have to thank Dr. Schreiner. The only downside is her hours are limited. Last I checked, she was only available on Mondays and Fridays. read more
