Great experience as a first timer to Austin Emergency Center. I was greeted upon entry with a smile! I was taken back to room by DeeAnn the best RN I have ever had in my life! Everything was professional and very personable. I than had Dr Rice who did my exam, great knowledgeable and friendly doctor. He explained everything in an easy to follow instructions. LeeAnn Radiology Tech and Savanna ER tech very friendly and all made me comfortable in my stomach pain. I will never go to another ER, this one is the best. I am referring anyone I can. Be aware. I would never tell anyone to not go to an emergency room if you have an emergency but think twice before going to Austin Emergency Center on Anderson Mill. My daughter was having severe pain in her ear after 10pm and no medical facility was open. I asked the standard fee and the receptionist did not know but said it would not be expensive. We were there no more than 1/2 an hour, saw the doctor and ended being a really bad case of swimmer's ear which can be painful. This establishment charged my insurance $7,000 dollars. 1/2 hour time with a doctor, diagnosis swimmers' ear, 2 ibuprofens for $7,000 dollars. Think twice before going here and please make sure it is an emergency. Please ask detailed questions about cost/billing and be aware you could get a very large bill for even the most minor situations. read more

I can't express how thankful I am for this facility and to live so close to it. I took a nasty fall on Tuesday and rushed to this emergency room. It was clean and there was no wait at all which I'm glad because I was in terrible pain. I was taken back and had X-rays completed. Turns out it was broken. The nurse and doctors were very kind. They gave me a prescription for pain medication and put a sturdy splint on my ankle and leg. I followed up with an orthopedic doctor and found out I have to get surgery but it was schedule for almost a week later. I've returned to this emergency room three times for help with maintaining the splint and another prescription for pain medication. Each time it was a different crew but the service remained kind, empathetic and fast. Sad I had to go but glad I got the care that I did from this place. But hopefully I won't be back haha read more

My 23yr old son went because he had earache. They took a look and cleaned out his ears as he was clogged up with earwax. Our insurance got two bills, one for $8,064 and another for $3,552! The line items are: Remove earwax: $3,024 Emergency Services: $5,040 And the other (I have no clue why there are two bills) Remove earwax: $795 Remove earwax: $795 Emergency Services: $1,932 This is utter insanity. read more

What a joke Came in with a broken bone, they did some screenings,, prescribed pain killers, and we left. No other services were provided, they didn't even give a sling for the broken shoulder. We just received two separate bills: $500 for screening, and $43,000 for something else they won't tell us. I can't understand the stuff on the human level. How do you go home and sleep after this? You rarely ever help save lives, but you sure do try to ruin them with your prices. read more

I'll keep this one short and sweet. I was working nearby pruning a tree and suffered a large laceration at the job-site. The wound was bleeding profusely and I was admittedly in shock. Fortunately this was the closest ER and my buddy dropped me off here. Their attentiveness and care was far beyond what I could ask for. I told the staff that doctored my up that they were my angels and made that terrible emergency experience much better by their professionalism. I Thank God for their service to our community!! I never go to the hospital so I was a little nervous but the staff was awesome and took really great care of me and made my feel at ease. So I came here hours after I had just gotten appendix surgery. I had came off anesthesia and I was violently vomiting and I could NOT stop. And bc I had had surgery that morning I had not been allowed to eat or drink anything all day so I was literally throwing up bile and stomach lining. Sooo needless to say it was getting bad. My husband drove me in around 9pm and there was no one there. I could barely walk bc I was so low on fluids and the nausea so they put me in a wheelchair and brought me to the back and into a room. The nurses were WONDERFUL. They hooked me up to IV fluids and were constantly checking my blood pressure. They gave me some anti nausea meds which helped - for a little bit. And then my nausea returned. They were going to release me after about 2 hours or so but after the first anti nausea meds stopped working, they decided to keep me overnight. It took 3 different anti nausea medication to get me to stop vomiting. One of the night shift nurses gave me a walker talkie so I could speak to her whenever she was out of the room if I needed anything or something was wrong. They kept an eye on me all night and allowed me to sleep when I finally was able to stop vomiting. The nurse in the morning was also very nice, she gave me ice chips, water, and goldfish as a test to see if I could keep it down. Thankfully I was able to, and they released me shortly after. I was never spoken to about insurance or payment when I was there so I can't comment in that yet. However I looked at my insurance claims and I BELIEVE I see what the bill was (19K) but with my insurance adjustment, I see it's down closer to 2K. Considering I was there overnight with multiple nurses keeping an eye on me, I can't complain. But like I said - I'm not positive if that's the bill for AEC, I'm still waiting to receive something in the mail. The only reason I took off one star is bc of the night doctor. It was a short man, and I did not appreciate his bedside manner. He came in when I was in the middle of a vomiting episode, and he started asking me questions. When I quite obviously could not answer him bc I was throwing up, he asked me again and was pushy. I had to put up a finger and tell him to WAIT bc I literally could NOT speak! ALSO when I had told him I had just gotten appendix surgery hours earlier, he proceeded to PUSH DOWN ON MY FRESH SURGERY INCISIONS! And then ask me "does that hurt?" .... Sir, what do you think?????? Also, When I was showing some progress with the first anti-nausea med but then it stopped working, he came in a little while after I was put on another nausea medication and proceeded to say something along the lines of "the other one was working and then you got nauseous again, what happened" he sounded almost irritated that my body stopped responding well to the first med. Um, sorry? Like, I didn't ask for any of this, he didn't have to make me feel crappy about it. Thankfully - I only had to deal with him like 2x the entire night. Any who - to reiterate - the nurses were wonderful and caring. The doctor...... not so much. read more

Everyone is so kind and professional here. They treated my 8 year old amazingly. We came in bc we were severely rear ended and wanted to check to make sure everything was okay with us. The nurse and Dr. Gill both said it would be a waste of money to get an X-ray if we weren't hurting physically but did prescribe me precautionary meds for pain. With the constant changing temperatures, my allergies flared up and causes severe congestion and shortness of breath. I wasn't sure if it was something more serious after my condition worsened over the days. I decided to come to Austin Emergency Center and they quickly took care of me and relieved my fears. They took my daughter's temperature gave her children's Tylenol and took a swab to check her for flu then the doctor came in said she doesnt have flu. Thats 2322.35$ with adjustments now $1203. Plus doctor's fee on top of that $600++. This place needs to be closed down because they clearly are ripping off people!! This place is a SCAM!! Do not come here!! You will die with the amount they will charge you! My husband clearly asked how much we will have to pay and they said insurance will take care. I have had the pleasure of seeing firsthand, their great care and compassion. Twice, as one who took family members in for Emergency Care, and recently, I was the patient. Dr. Darhower was great and my Nurse Dee Ann was awesome. A problem with my right shoulder was diagnosed as being a problem originating in my neck. The front desk was extremely rude. We have insurance but didn't have it with us. My wife snapped her finger in half and was in great pain. They told us we would have to self pay. We continued to say we have insurance blue cross which we do and we're of no help. I came in at 8 AM on Monday morning for a large wound on my wrist that I cut doing dishes. I needed stitches....most importantly they got me in within 10 minutes and I had the best staff take care of me. Belinda the nurse was very caring went above and beyond. I complimented her many times. And Dr. Nash was wonderful and stitched me up ...had great humor and I was in and out within 30 minutes. Having a history of migraines, I can usually easily take care of them at home. The one I had yesterday was so strong none of my home remedies worked. I hate going to any type of dr or hospital but I knew I had to if I wanted to feel better asap. The staff here are some of the most kind, caring and compassionate people. I've been to the ER a few times in life and was left sitting in a waiting room for hours on end to be seen and it's so depressing and gives ya the worst anxiety on top your existing anxiety and Austin Emergency Center isn't even close to being like that! :) We are so grateful for that. Unfortunately we've had to come in twice in the last couple of months (for different reasons) but both times we were brought back to the treatment rooms quickly and the doctors and staff were so kind and patient and answer all your anxious-ridden questions. They're able to do it in a calm and collected manner which also helps you relax too. Hopefully we won't have to go back anytime soon but if we did I can feel assured knowing we'll be in good hands and well-care for by incredibly kind humans. read more
