    How are these tulips?

Really disappointed by my experience here. Almost everything in their selection was well past full bloom and dying/browning. Multiple of the flowers in my bouquet ended up falling apart by the time I got them home. Especially at this price point this is not worth anywhere near the amount I paid. I'm doubly disappointed by how many good things I had heard about them, only to have a selection this poor. This being said, staff was very helpful in helping me pick out flowers and did their best to help me pull something together that looked good.

Bought some flowers here and made my own beautiful flower arrangement. Its peony season right now so there were so many fresh selections of peonies which i got 2 and both of them bloomed so nicely. They have a great selection of so many amazing flowers including the iris, snapdragons, and the rattails which i picked! They have so many other flowers as well and fillers for bouquets or arrangements and they keep them cold in the back. I'd recommend this place!

I love supporting small businesses, and it always makes me feel better buying from a local shop than a large retailer. I've been coming to Austin Flower for a few years now, and I have the best experience every time. Their flower selection is great, and you can buy a ton of flowers for a really decent price. They organize the flowers beautifully, and they always impress whoever I'm planning to get the flowers for.

These are not the flowers in question. These are another bunch that didn't do well right after purchasing last year.

risky purchase Let me start by saying I have never written a negative Yelp review, so it takes a lot for me to think it should be shared and possibly affect their business . I have been getting flowers here retail for 12 years. I was in last week and spent $300 for my home, $100 of that on many bunches of Lysianthis. There were some flowers open but the majority were still closed . As usual, I went home to cut them and immediately put them in their vase. a week later, they still had not opened AT ALL. not some didnt open, nothing more opened from the day I purchased them. I took them back exactly a week later and expressed my concern for spending that money and them not opening. Now this has actually happened a few times before but I've never felt the need to go back bc obviously it's the nature flowers sometimes. This was a clear issue. when I showed them, I was told there was nothing they could do since it had been a week and I should've brought them the next day. In that case, they could've done something. I continuously asked how I would know they wouldn't open in a day and all I got was an "I'm sorry". The reason I waited a week is bc I was waiting for them to open! I asked for her to ask the owner and she went back there returning with a "I'm sorry, there is nothing we can do". the thing that insensed me so much was that she didn't even take the flowers to him. Now, it's not about the money, it's about being treated respectfully as a customer, and a loyal one at that. I felt like inwasnt given the time of day when the owner manager could've walked 10 feet to me to personally apologize and explain the return policy. I stood there for a solid 15. mI had $200 more in flowers to purchase that day and I wasn't even offered a discount. Nothing! Not wholesale price, 5% off..... anything to show "gosh, that stinks and we aren't sure why but it could've been us and we want you to come back".again, it's not about the money, but just showing they care that it happened. The reasons they wouldn't open is something that went wrong in the transport, delivery, put out process. Maybe out of water too long, got hot, not cut correctly.... something but the issue was not a subjective thing. These 5 bunches of the same flowers were all still closed while the other flowers I bought were great. Being that this has happened before, I won't be taking the chance spending a lot of money here Especially knowing there is no recourse if it's a quality or issue they are at fault. I'm sad and disappointed to say the least bc I love this place. Im a firm believer that it's not a company's mistakes that define them but how they handle them and this couldn't have been worse

I have shopped at Austin flower company many times and always had a great experience. The staff is friendly and helpful and the flowers are amazing! I've always experienced fresh beautiful flowers. I do weddings and events and usually order ahead. My flowers have always been on time and if I want to pick something While I'm there, they have a huge selection!

My husband bought 2 dozen red roses for me last Wednesday, but within 5 days they were all drooping and almost dead. Our previous experience with Austin Flower Company has been very positive - they have a great selection of very fresh flowers. I called, and they asked me to bring a photo of the flowers and a receipt if possible. They replaced them for me without any hesitation after they saw the photo, and they apologized that the previous bouquet was not of the quality they usually carry. It must have been a bad batch of roses. I'm grateful that they provide such good, friendly service, and that they stand behind the quality of their flowers.

This review is solely based on my personal experience. If you do not agree with me, please DO NOT message me and tell me that I am wrong because your experience is not same as mine. I love supporting local businesses and recommending them but definitely not if they are not honest to their customers. 1. False advertising (see attached picture #1 & #2) 2. After getting the 3 plants that I ordered from the rack (curbside pick-up) I noticed they looked totally different from what they have on their website when I ordered it. An associate (she has make-up of bloody forehead on for Halloween) came out to put more plants on the rack. I talked to her and showed her that the plant that she put out for me looks very different. She said "It is the same plant. You ordered Neon Pothos and those are Neon Pothos." I explained to her that I am new to indoor/tropical plants so I am not good with their names yet. I don't buy based on the name of the plants but how they look. I explained to her that really like the plants on the website (which I showed her --picture #1, has rounder heart-shape and not much ridges on the leaves. The plant that was given to me is oval/narrow leaves and more well-defined ridges on it. Although I am new to indoor plant, I am not stupid to believe her lies-- She said, "Those pictures were taken couple days ago and weather could change how they look like."-- She offered me a full refund but I told her that I will just keep the plants because I did not want to waste my gas, mileage and 1 hr 10 minutes round trip drive and come home empty handed. I wish she offered me to replace the plant that she gave me with the plant that they advertised on their website when I ordered it; Or She should just offered the refund and stop her mouth from there. I was very disgusted by her lying to me and think I stupid that I would believe her that weather would drastically change the plants' feature... not even after few months. 3. Did not admit the error to me but suddenly made changes on their website after few hours I made a complain (see picture #3 and compare it to picture #1) 4. I will definitely DO NOT recommend buying from this business specially if you are new to plants and you are not familiar with how are they should really look. This business is not reliable with accuracy of information on their website. Their associate failed to be honest. The management is aware of the false advertising and made changes but not even called me to apologized and attempt to give/offer me the same plants I saw when I made my purchase online. Plant that they originally posted on their website is identified as "Philodendron Neon Heart-shape" by many plant collectors in the plant group. Buyers like me base my purchase on the look of the plant not their names ended up get fooled. Then they changed the picture on the same original link "Neon Pothos" after I made my complain.

I've been coming here for years for both school Valentine's Day fundraiser flowers AND special occasion flowers. The don't arrange the flowers for you but they always have a beautiful selection of high quality flowers. They have excellent customer service and I'll continue forcing my dear husband to buy my flowers from here and arrange them himself to prove his love to me.

Ask the Community - Austin Flower

    Aloha, do y'all sell lei's?

Yes, it just takes a while to get in so we need the order a couple weeks out

Do they have peonies, if so how much would it be for like 4 or 5?

Technically yes. Peony season starts in late Feb / Early March so until then, peonies will be very small. I think they run around $6 per stem right now.

It's the kind of place where you come for a plant and end up staying for the vibes. Think of it as a garden center meets a peaceful mini outdoor museum. Everything is beautifully organized by plant type, making it easy to find what you're looking for...or, more likely, making it easy to get joyfully distracted while you wander. There are cozy benches for daydreaming, koi ponds full of personality, colorful lily pads that pop out and wave at you, and the kind of friendly staff that actually makes you want to ask questions. Inspiration? It's everywhere. From the water features, to the whimsical sculptures, to lush displays that make you rethink your whole gardening vision. There are restrooms if nature calls, and there are plenty of delightful garden goodies to buy/take home. It's rare to find a place that feeds your inner gardener, your creative soul, and your serotonin all at once...but somehow, this place pulls it off. I'm so glad it exists.

We stumbled onto Barton Springs Nursery almost by accident after seeing their showroom on Lamar and…read morerealizing there was an actual nursery a little farther west. Somehow I had never heard of it, despite it having been around for decades. I was not prepared. This is less a traditional nursery and more a beautifully designed place that happens to sell plants. The property is shaded by huge mature oaks, with gravel paths winding through incredibly healthy plants, weathered wood structures, limestone, pottery, little seating areas, a greenhouse, ponds, and thoughtfully placed pockets where you can just sit. Everything feels considered without feeling precious. I kept trying to describe the aesthetic and eventually realized the most accurate reference point is the Animal Crossing island I always intended to create but absolutely never did. It is genuinely one of the most beautiful retail environments I've experienced in Austin. We were only stopping in between errands with our five-year-old and 11-month-old, so we barely scratched the surface and didn't actually purchase anything. Even so, several staff members took time with us. Everyone we encountered was warm, knowledgeable, and seemed genuinely happy to talk about plants and the property. The Genus Bar is particularly cool. It isn't just clever branding. You can bring actual plant problems to their horticultural experts for help, and they have equipment on hand to dig into what may be happening with a plant. One gentleman walked us through the space, explained some of what they do there, gave us some history of the nursery, and was completely open to whatever plant questions I wanted to throw at him. There are also a surprising number of things for kids to discover. Turtles, enormous tortoises, an axolotl, ponds and other little bits of wildlife are worked into the property. Our five-year-old loved feeding and watching the turtles and tortoises. One of the staff members caring for the tortoises also made sure we knew not to touch them because of the salmonella risk. How did I make it this far into adulthood without knowing that? Another unexpected detail was the nitro yaupon tea. I initially thought I was being offered cold brew coffee, which was challenged the moment I smelled it. Yaupon is a native holly whose leaves have a long history of being brewed as a caffeinated tea, and the person serving it gave us the whole background while preparing it. It was light, fragrant and really pleasant. Just another small thing that made the visit feel less transactional. The major caveat is price. This is NOT where I would necessarily come for a budget-conscious haul of plants I could easily find elsewhere. The nursery is in Westlake, the products are highly curated, and the pricing reflects the environment and clientele. That said, the plants we saw looked exceptionally healthy, the garden and home goods felt carefully selected, and there appeared to be some more unusual plant options mixed into the broader selection. You're paying for a noticeably different experience. And honestly, the experience is the reason give it five stars. We came in intending to look around for a few minutes and left wishing we'd had considerably more time. I tend to linger in nurseries anyway, but Barton Springs Nursery seems almost specifically engineered to encourage that behavior. Next time we'll come when we're not wedging botanical exploration between chores. Even if it isn't where you buy every plant for your yard, it's worth visiting at least once. We'll absolutely be back.
