Very disappointed with my experience at Austin Haircut Co. (Brodie location). I had an appointment scheduled for 10:30 AM, but when I arrived, I was told that the barber had called off work. What was most frustrating was that no one bothered to call, text, or notify me beforehand to cancel or reschedule the appointment. When I asked about it, I was told they had thought about calling but "didn't have time." As a customer, I value my time, and it's disappointing when a business doesn't show the same respect. A simple phone call could have saved me a wasted trip and inconvenience. I understand that unexpected situations happen, but communication and customer service matter. Unfortunately, this experience left a very poor impression. read more

I went for a haircut like I normally do last Saturday with Irma. She's great. This time however she was sick and coughing over me. She did not wear a mask. 3 days later I contracted Covid. I wish management would insist that staff wear a mask even if they are just experiencing symptoms. Now my whole family is at risk of Covid. Normally I'd give 5 stars but not this time. read more

This place is bad. I just got a haircut from a woman who, after me saying "I want to cut my own sideburns" proceeded to say "let me do them, I has met favor right here" and then cut not only my sideburns but shaved my face leaving a bare part in my beard. She then said, "see how good your sideburns look? Not you just have to go shave." Like who TF does that!? She ended the cut by saying "I have 30 years of experience look how good your hair looks". I had some spare time to go get a haircut and I had so this place over where I was and decided to go in. When I got in there the lady asked if I had an appointment I had said no, she was continuing a client that was there ahead of me. When it came to my turn I said I just needed a trim and she was verbal on what to do but when it came to my side of my head. She told me to turn my head and so i did she said no and turned my head back and pushed my head to a tilt instead of pushing my head she could of just said tilt but she was rude about it, it seemed like she didn't want to be there at all. I've been a regular customer at this location since 2006. Lora is amazing, and, even though she's the manager now and there is often a line for her to cut your hair, it is always worth it. I booked an appointment online for Saturday the night before at the Brodie Ln. 290 location. Jesse greeted me by name. He was personable, relaxed and I felt at ease. The crown where I have the most hair (which isn't alot) looks like I have triple the hair! Like a bob short, sides wispy short and the neck nape part was sculpted. Janie was my stylist and I definitely would recommend her and this location. No wait at all (prolly good timing) Thanks again Janie! Update 06/28/19: currently walked out of location due to employee not understanding how I want my haircut to be. Tried explaining three times how I always ask for my cut and It turned into a "You're saying you want it two different ways".... I've NEVER had such a hard time for someone to understand how to cut a popular yet simple comb over. Literally just don't want a part! IF I return, definitely will request Janie only. What happened at the Brodie location? I had great haircuts from Dinora through Jan. 2023. Then in Feb I had to choose 'any stylist' because there were only 2 avail, i had to book. When I went to the shop only 2 men were working; All chairs and counters were cleared off, no other workers. I asked what happened to Dinora and one of the men said she and others left. Awesome deal for the price. As a woman with long hair but a simple "style" I have always resented being charged $70 minimum for someone to wash my hair, comb it out and trim the dead ends off. My mother turned me onto this place so I came in on a visit to town. Great value for the service I was looking for. I had burned my hand and hadn't been able to wash my own hair in more than a week, it was getting gross and embarrassing. I came in and the lady I had washed my hair twice and trimmed 3 inches off the bottom for a grand total of $23. My head felt so much better that I gave her huge tip and left with a smile. I wish there were a similar place near me in Maryland. Probably not for you if you have a complex style or are super picky about your cut being "just so", but if you're looking for basic cuts or trims at a great price, this is the spot! read more

Very fast (less than 10 min) haircuts that are fantastic and for a reasonable price - fellas, definitely ask for the zero fade on the back, I won't get my hair cut any other way now! read more

I have been getting hair cuts here for over 20 years but only one stylist (Bertha) knew what they were doing. There would be 6 customers waiting and 5 would be waiting for Bertha. She always remembered how I wanted my hair cut and did an excellent job. This week I learned she is no longer there and no one at the store will say where she went. I am not going back and I hope I can find out where Bertha is working if she decides to go back to work. Don't bother trying to walk in here. Went in on Sunday at 2:20, signed in with nobody on the list in front of me, and sat until 3:00 before I got tired of waiting and left. There were 5 people that walked in after me and all got service immediately. I guess they were existing clients of the stylists? Unsure. All I know is that I was told on the phone that it is a walk-in with no wait and show up to find a walk-in with seemingly no wait but with a knows-the-stylist priority. What a waste of time. I'm not sure what happened but my son ended up with uneven bangs and the back right side looks butchered. My other son ended up with a butchered look too. I asked them to keep it sort of long on top and the sides and be cut shorter. I asked that my second aon habe longer hair but can be short on the sides. I'm giving this 2 stars because of one person. I have had just about every lady at this location cut my hair. It's a simple cut. The last 2 times I got a certain stylist and each time she jacked it up. Each time I explained what I wanted but yet no luck. I figured I would go back to give a second chance and same outcome. I have always had a pleasant experience at Great Haircuts on Brodie Ln unfortunately I can't say the same for the slaughter location. Anyway, Bertha has always been my fav but all the ladies do a great job! Both the Slaughter Lane location and the Brodie Location have flaws. The last time I was at Slaughter location next to Tres Amigos, I walked. Today, I was at the Brodie Lane location and walked. I had gotten my hair cut at the Slaughter location before and the experience was somewhat similar to a Supercuts experience (level of expertise of the stylist) The Slaughter Lane cannot keep up with who comes in the door.....I got skipped twice the last time I was there so I left. Today, at the Brodie Lane location I came in right behind a guy named Dan and wrote my name on the list and the time I arrived. Dan got his name called but opted to wait for a preferred stylist. I was never acknowledged and I wasn't sitting near Dan (like I was there as his "hugger" or something). The stylist who was going to take Dan opted to sit in a chair in the back instead of looking down the list. Nobody else in the place cared or was aware. After 20-minutes, Dan's stylist didn't appear and nobody even came to the front to look at the list. Two wrongs don't make a right. Stay away from Great Haircuts unless you have demodex mange and want to share with a stylist. Pathetic lot. read more
