I'm comfortable doing this myself normally, but I've never drilled into masonry, so I'm glad I had a professional take care of it. * Wired our whole house with CAT6 Ethernet. He was able to navigate all over our attic and then create nice looking connections in various parts of the house. * Put in 4 sets of in-ceiling speakers to connect to our Sonos system * Put a recessed wall box in our wall to hide AV components, which allowed him to mount a TV completely flush to the wall in our room with no wires showing at all. I've had Eaton do work at my house twice..... once when we bought it to run ethernet and cable everywhere, install surround speakers in the ceiling of two rooms, and mount TVs. This was in 2019. And once just recently to remount some TVs. His work is just incredibly precise, and the finishes in all areas (jacks, speakers, drywall, network racks, etc) is perfect. It's rare that words totally escape me when I sit down to write a review for a business, but as I attempt to convey how positive our experience with Eaton was... it's difficult. This may get a bit lengthy, so to summarize: I chose Eaton because I trusted him, and it was a bonus that he was the most competitively-priced company we received a quote from (with SUBSTANTIALLY better equipment in his proposal vs. competitors). I can very confidently say, now that the job is done: I don't think we could have ended up in better hands than Eaton's. When I began calling home audio companies around Austin, I quickly discovered a couple of things: 1) It was going to be difficult to find someone I felt I could fully trust. 2) I didn't know up from down in regards to brands, tech specs, etc. Someone could totally fleece me if I wasn't careful (amplifying the need for trust). I spoke with several Austin-based companies, but ultimately gravitated towards Eaton early on. He was incredibly knowledgeable, generous with his time, and struck me as the most trustworthy person I'd spoken with. After interacting with a couple of other companies that I was confident were trying to take advantage of my lack of technical knowledge, trustworthiness became my #1 criterion. I ultimately chose to work with Eaton before receiving quotes from anyone else because I trusted him. (After others turned in quotes, Eaton's system was built with **substantially** better audio equipment while still being less expensive.) Now that the job is complete, I couldn't be happier with that choice. Eaton was thoughtful, respectful of our space (he cleaned as he went AND when he was finished), incredibly patient and communicative when educating us on the system... I could go on and on. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Eaton overdelivered on every plane possible. We will recommend him highly to any friends or family in the area needing work, and he will be our first call as long as he decides to stay in the business. For those of you who may be skeptical about a review this positive and glowing, I don't blame you. I would be too. We built our house back in 2012, and Eaton Bates setup our home theater room. It was a challenging job, since there was limited attic space to move around, the comm closet was under the staircase, and multiple devices had to be connected and hidden (wife would not approve visible cabling or other "stuff" :-) across the house (the home theater was on the second floor)...Eaton did a great job, finished the everything on time and on budget (his rate was very competitive, by the way). Now we are at a new house, and even though I was tempted to hire Eaton right away, I did my due diligence, asking for quotes for my home theater from three additional companies / contractors. One of them gave me a slightly lower estimate, but I decided to go with Eaton any ways (I mean, the other guy didn't even look at the attic). Eaton and his associate took care of everything, paying attention at every single detail, from cutting sheet-rocks to fine-tuning the programming on my universal remote. He came up with recommendations that were obviously in MY interest. I couldn't be happier with my room, and my 5.1.4 Dolby Atmos system sounds and looks great! PS: he cleaned up everything, and he bundled the loose wires hiding them as much as possible, the result is very professional looking...I'm not sure why other folks wrote reviews complaining on the not-professional look of their system. read more

I rarely write bad reviews of local businesses. It's been three years since Eaton attempted to set up my AV system and I still don't have anything working. I just didn't get back to it because it became a depressing endeavor that I paid thousands to have working. And it doesn't, and never did, work. From multiple loose wires sticking out to backwards installed volume buttons- everything was unprofessional. His reply when I said a few volume controls were upside down was- they still work; just reverse how you control it. Lol. My house was previously wired with a ton of wires from a person who wires for new builds. I needed someone to come over and help me figure out how to set it up, organize it and get it working. I think it was over Eaton's level of expertise but he didn't let me know. It's frustrating to see a whole house full of speakers and nothing properly working. The output was too large for my receiver among other issues. No solution was given or work around and that's primarily what I was needing guidance in. I can set up a sonos system myself (which was his number one solution to a pre-wired home). If you're setting up wireless or have a simple enough set up then he might be good. But, those are designed to be installed by regular consumers so I don't see the professional need. All in all, anything outside of cookie cutter system or set up- I'd look elsewhere. read more

Working with Eaton was great. I started out requesting a few quotes from companies through yelp and he was by far the first to respond. We were able to quickly schedule a time for him to come out and assess the job and he sent me a quote shortly after. He made great recommendations and had no problem with me tweaking things a little. I have confidence he can help you find whatever you're looking for in terms of price, quality, etc. The installation went really well. He arrived on time, checked in with me so everything was how I wanted and cleaned up after. He installed a 7.1 recessed dolby atmos surround sound system, mounted my projector, added a couple of electrical outlets and managed all the wires. At the end everything was neat. If you want seamless, easy audio-visual and wifi set ups, call Eaton. He is your go-to for all things AV. We have had two houses in Austin now where he has worked. Both houses had five or more TVs each. He wall-mounted all TVs both inside and outside (stucco) with no wires showing. He has recommendations on how to manage outside TVs including special customized covers. We got customized covers for our two outside TVs with our undergrad skools' logos on them via Eaton. He also knows how to set up Sonos and integrate it with the speaker bars on your individual TVs. He took careful consideration to tether large speakers to walls for the safety of our toddler daughter. Furthermore his wire management is fantastic and will go the extra mile to ensure your wires are hidden. Eaton also knows everything wifi. He created a booster system in both of our houses to extend the wifi signal throughout so we never lose a signal. Eaton is a very respectful, hardworking and smart individual. Hire him now. Eaton did great work on three very different projects for me. First, he replaced in-ceiling and in-wall garage door sensor wiring that had stopped working. Second, he located hidden surround speaker wiring and installed two in-ceiling surround speakers. Third, he really cleaned up my wiring panel, explained all the different incoming and outgoing wires/cables and ensured that all the network drops were working. Eaton at Austin Home Entertainment is completely deserving of his 5 star reviews here. I rarely write reviews but feel compelled to given the level of service here. I had a relatively small-ish job of running ethernet to all the rooms in my new home, as well as running speaker wire for the rear speakers and mounting a TV and hiding the cables. Most places I contacted wouldn't provide quotes without seeing the place, but Eaton gladly provided an estimate (making it clear things could change given the job though.) Before finalizing a date for the work, Eaton and I spoke on the phone for about 20 minutes and discussed exactly what I was looking to do and some specifics of the house that'd help him guage the work. Eaton showed up exactly on time at 930 the day of the job and got right to work making sure he had everything planned correctly and then getting to it. The quality of his work and speed he was able to get things done was very impressive, especially considering the mess the house was in from us moving. The house had been remodeled, which lead to a few issues in things being as easy as hoped. In each case though, Eaton had multiple options for workarounds and let me decide which way to proceed. The whole job ended up taking a bit longer than expected, but Eaton stayed until almost 8 on a Friday to get it done for me as we had painters coming the next day. Couldn't recommend his services more. His work is very high quality, no holes were left in walls and he was going to clean up with a shop vac, but I since it was so late already and he had worked so hard, I told him to go home and I just took care of it.
