Believe all of the 5-star reviews on here. Out of nowhere, my front deadbolt got stuck in the locked position. After messing with it to the point of frustration on my own, I decided I needed a locksmith. I sent these guys a message on Yelp just to get an idea of cost and when they could come out to fix my lock. They responded to my message in less than 10 minutes and provided a quote. I then got a call from Chris and he said that he could be over in around 15 minutes. Chris showed up 15 minutes later (almost to the minute) and got to work on the door. In under an hour he diagnosed the problem and fixed it. The price was exactly what he quoted and I happily paid. What a great tragedy for a young, broke Austinite: my bike was locked in by a keyless (and heartless) Kryptonite lock. I sent out estimate requests to at least 10 businesses, and this dude was not only the quickest to reply, he also gave me the cheapest price estimate AND he was able to come on super short notice. Losing the keys to your car sucks! Especially when it's the ONLY key to your car. First, you call Pop-A-Lock to see if maybe, by some stroke of luck, your bonehead self locked it up inside your car. $60 bucks later you're calling around to other locksmiths in town to see if they can make you a copy of your key. If your car is an older model, most places won't have the codes necessary to make you a new key. Other locksmiths still holding onto the code know this and know they can charge a hefty price to make that key, say something around $160 (after already forking over $60 to just look for the key, mind you). Enter Austom Key Guy who was smart enough to advertise a discount on Yelp for mentioning the ad when you called. He was friendly on the phone, which is way more than I could say for some of the other places I called. He had easy availablility, both on Friday and on Saturday. AND he made two replacement keys so that there'd be a spare should you be careless enough to lose that key again. $85 for peace of mind and a huge savings over the competition. When I lost my first set of car keys I told myself I'd go make a replacement right away....when I lost my spare set of car keys I told myself I was screwed...No masters left and not even a spare key to open a door. I wish I could say I had an easy, inexpensive key to replicate but I don't. I have a 2001 Grand Jeep Cherokee and my keys have a chip in it so they are neither cheap nor easy to replicate..when I called the Jeep dealer I told them my dilemma..the only option I had was to tow my car to them and then they could make me a set of keys. Really? When I went online to find a locksmith, I was met with some SKETCHY SKETCHY websites along with a not so reputable jeep locksmiths on yelp..after a few more key word searches I found Austin Key Guy..saw that he also did car keys and gave him a call. He gave me 2 quotes, depending on how he'd have to proceed to get my key programmed. Both very reasonable and competitive with the rate the car dealership was giving me. I was 15 minutes late but Adam was really nice and accommodating about it. He came and worked on my car right away, it took less than 5 minutes for him to make a key for my door and then maybe 30 minutes or less to program 2 keys for me..it was a hot day but he did everything without a complaint! I really appreciated that! I also appreciated the fact that he didn't make me feel dumb about having to use his service (I mean, can you believe that sometimes you are PAYING people to make you feel stupid). He didn't make me feel embarrassed at all..trust me, I was. The time it took for me to call him, schedule an appointment, and for him to get everything done was so speedy I even tipped him $10. Was very impressed with his honesty over the phone. I locked myself out of my bathroom, called him, and he asked for a picture of the lock. Sent him a pic and he called me back within a minute to tell me that I could pop it with a screwdriver. Sure enough, took about 5 seconds. Far as I'm concerned, this dude is the Bear Grylls of locksmithing. I managed to lose my entire set of keys to the abyss that is Austin nightlife (like ya do). The next morning, called around to several businesses who either (1) didn't pick up or (2) quoted me an exogenous price to replace the key to my Scion. The Key Guy was quick to answer, quoted me a hella reasonable price to replace it *and* my house key if I could provide a photo of it (easy fix, I have a roommate with a house key and a smartphone), and he was at my car in about 1 hour's time. Setting up an appointment was easy enough. My information was forwarded to one of their locksmiths Michael, who at first told me I was not is their coverage area. This surprise me since their website showed I was in their coverage area in both their map and listed zip codes. I pointed this out to Michael who just said he would come out but it would cost me an additional $15 for him to come out. When the locksmith arrived he completed the job in less than 30 minutes. He seemed a little upset that I wanted to test all the locks before I paid him, but it took me less than a minute to do it. The work was performed in a timely manner and seems to be good. This nice man answered my call for help at 2pm on a Saturday and basically explained to me why a different locksmith was charging me $200+ [car brand was hard to find parts for] and Adam himself did not have the keys . I'm happy I did; this guy was great!. He arrived much faster than I anticipated (he actually arrived before I did) and cut my new key in under 15 minutes. He also went above and beyond to help me disable my car alarm - because I'm an idiot and lost the aftermarket alarm remote too :-/ He was very personable and NOT creepy - important info for the ladies needing help late at night (actually kinda hot). My business has one of those automatic locks and it started catching in the mornings when I was trying to open up shop. I called Adam up and he fit me in the next afternoon, which was great since I have employees and I want them to be able to get in easily when I am away on business trips. He didn't try to sell me a new lock and he even threw in some spare keys in case the automatic functions ever gave me problems in the future. The solution for me was Austin Key guy. I went with him based on rave yelp reviews, and my experience was par for the course. Start to finish, here is why I give 5 stars: Contact: I called and got voice mail. The voice mail said to text and so I did - I got an almost immediate response. Not just a response, but he got the ball rolling: said he could fix it, gave me a quote, asked where I was at. Basically, all it took was one text and I was halfway to solving my problem. That's peace of mind, right there. Arrival: I told him I would be at the house at 11am, he got there 11:30am. For a person who is driving all over town all day, I consider this to be excellent. Yay!! I finally got spare key for my car. It's the little things in life, eh? I called Adam after reading some of the reviews online and he was able to give me a quote on the spot and an estimated time of arrival. I was having a hell of a day and nothing seemed to be going right. I locked my keys in my car while on my lunch break and thought that I would be out of the office for a while.
