This hotel has some good and not-so-good things about it. The good: staff was nice, hotel was clean, the restaurant/bar had good options, the pool deck was a plus. The not-so-good: the patio of my room was surrounded by walls and you could not look out. Depressing and I never sat out there. There was no window in the room, just the glass door that looked out to a wall. Also, the hallway and my room had an unpleasant smell the 2 days I was there. Lastly, I did not like the location. Close to some loud bars that looked dumpy at least from the outside and I could hear music much of the night despite the included White Noise machine being cranked. read more

I had a great three-night stay at the Canopy by Hilton Austin Downtown! I was in town for work, but decided to stay an extra day to explore. Location was great. It was within walking distance from many restaurants, bars, and shops. I walked to breakfast and/or coffee every morning and even walked to Office Depot to pick up some things for work. I can't speak for parking or valet since I didn't rent a car. I was placed in room 320 with a king bed. The room was spacious and gave me plenty of room to walk around while also having a dedicated space for all my belongings. I had no issues with the room. However, if you're looking for a nice view, room 320 is not it. My view was of a building wall.. But it didn't bother me because I didn't spend a lot of time at the hotel. I was really only there to sleep. Since I didn't spend a lot of time at the hotel, I didn't get to explore much of it, but I do know there's a pool, fitness center, and onsite restaurant and bar. They also have a nice spacious lobby and courtyard. A few other things I appreciated: refillable water bottles in the room, a water station with hot and cold water on every floor, the welcome note and chocolates, and the wonderful service throughout my stay! read more

Love Hilton hotels but this one was rough. First off it's noisy. I wasn't even on the very noisy bar side but even the back side had noise all day and night from above and around me from what sounded like power tools clunking. The room always felt musty or wet. Clothes and sheets felt wet. Maybe it's bad ac or ventilation? Valet parking was the only onsite parking and it was $54 a day. Crazy. Breakfast was limited in choices and not friendly in hours for business travelers. I could go on. The staff however at the desk was very nice. But the auto bathroom light shocking bright light was just the cherry on top. read more

My daughter and I took a mini vacation to Austin over the Independence Day holiday. Unfortunately, it rained the entire weekend but the room and service were spectacular. I was checked on repeatedly and when I complained about the inability to cool the room down, the maintenance man was able to come in and override settings to make it cooler. They offered daily happy hour but unfortunately, we weren't able to partake. I will definitely rebook with this location because it made me think of the quality that Hilton was once known for. read more

Canopy is one of my favorite Hilton hotel brands. The staff here provided incredible service during our stay. There was no wait at check in and was done within a few minutes. Coffee, hot water and tea bags are provided in the waiting area of the lobby. Room was clean and beds were made as usual. However, the plug where the coffee machine was located did not work. A selection of tea bags are offered in the room, but there was no kettle provided. I was very delighted by the fact that the hotel provides glass bottles for water refills. read more

They said we don't discriminate regarding language and I said what are you talking about? A job requirement is to communicate and it is perfectly legal to have a language requirement. First of all, I love the canopy brand. I stay half the year in a canopy in Minneapolis and I love the place. I had to travel to Austin and decided how could it be different? I have to tell you I am sadly disappointed at my experience here. The only person I could say who was remotely friendly, and happy for that matter was the valet that brought my car to me this morning. She was great. I checked in and the person who checked me in, never looked me in the eye or acknowledged me in a way that welcomed me. I had picked out a room, and she changed the room and didn't give me a reason why. When I got to my room, turns out I'm facing a wall. OK, I don't mind that as much, but nothing in the room worked. The TV wasn't working, I couldn't get hot water to my shower, and the clock read four hours ahead with no way of changing. The customer service here is pretty bad is I felt like I was a burden to them rather than them wanting to help. The restaurant across the way also felt the same, unwelcoming. Getting to order a drink, which I ordered pretty hefty tequilas, seemed like a chore for them. I was under the impression that Austin was supposed to be a bunch of friendly people. This is a really nice a well kept Canopy. The lobby and restaurant and very cool and the food is excellent. The gym is pretty small but it is still fancy with good equipment (doesn't have barbell racks, any sort of cable machine, or rowers). The pool is also really nice with some views but it's also small and get crowded at prime time. They give out free drinks sometimes when you check in, and they are always offering some kind of treat. 4 stars only because it's on 6th street and the noise can keep you up. They have some rooms with soundproof windows, and some on the backside of the building are quiet. Every time I've stayed here there's also been a party in the room next to me or both rooms and that's pretty annoying (if I'm not in the mood) but it usually settles down by 11 or 12. I have stayed here 3 times prior to moving to Austin, and 3 times after moving for "staycation" read more

Another 5-star experience at the Canopy this year and the majority of the credit goes to the staff! The Canopy is in a great location downtown, but it is the extraordinary and friendly service by the staff who make you feel so welcome and feel like family. They are ready to step forward and meet your every need! Special shout outs go to Otelia and Rachel at the Front Desk. Rachel responded quickly to my texts before arrival to make sure everything was in proper order and she was at the desk to welcome us with a cheerful greeting. Otelia, again this year, also outdid herself! I met her last year and she was one of the main reasons I booked the Canopy again for this visit. She is just exceptional and is a credit to the Hilton chain. A better employee than Otelia, I believe, would be hard to find. The happy hour champagne welcome starting at 3pm is also a nice touch. The rooms are specious and very clean. I chose a room on the back side this time as the music from the bars on 6th street are pretty loud (until 2am on the weekends) per my last experience. Although there is a bar on the back side, it was not as loud or disruptive. The Canopy provides ear plugs and a white noise machine, but we did not need them on this stay. When I return to Austin, I will choose this Canopy location again. It is just perfect, which makes for an enjoyable stay. Hats off to the entire Canopy crew. read more

Be aware they don't give you a fridge, they give you a "cooling drawer" which does NOT keep things cool enough to prevent perishables from going bad. Lost a bunch of stuff as a result. Also, do not expect the fitness center to be usable; the temperature in here was 79 degrees when I arrived. And despite the AC being on for over an hour, the temp has only dropped to 78. Clearly their AC priorities are saving money, not guest comfort. Also, might have something to do with the fact that the filter apparently hasn't been cleaned in sometime... First time trying a Hilton property in 4 years. Won't be back. Save yourself the trouble and skip this hotel. read more

There's a Canopy by Hilton in my city and I have enjoyed staying there for a staycation, so when I found this location for an upcoming trip to Austin, I was really excited. The location is prime, within walking distance of tons of bars, restaurants, and entertainment, and a short drive away from most attractions. We Ubered a lot and I liked that Sixth street is one way so we never had to run across the street to be picked up. The hotel has a bright and airy atrium and a beautiful restaurant with great happy hour. The employees we interacted with were all polite and gave us a recommendation for a late night snack. We were offered complimentary canned water upon arriving back to the hotel after sight seeing, which was nice. There was a filtered water/ice dispenser on our floor, which we utilized in the 95 degree heat! Speaking of the heat, the pool was a big part of my choice of this hotel. It's pretty tiny, but luckily it was never that busy when we went and always got a chair. They have some shade umbrellas and a bar which we enjoyed. On to the noise - yes, it was pretty loud with a huge bar located next door. Friday and Saturday nights were the worst, but I always sleep with earplugs anyway. They also provide earplugs, chamomile tea, and a noise machine which we did use each night. If you're a light sleeper, this is probably not the hotel for you. If I get a chance to visit Austin again I wouldn't hesitate to stay here in the future. read more

I love this hotel. It's very well appointed. I would definitely stay here during the week when the music is not so loud like it is on the weekend (the room comes with complimentary earplugs). I do recommend this place if you have friends who want to party and be in the middle of all the downtown clubs. I can't recommend it for a retreat to relax. The beds are supper comfortable and I really enjoyed my long hot showers. The Nespresso machine in the room is a nice touch. The lobby has many nooks and crannys to sit and relax. There is a pool table and a very nice small workout facility. The pool area is so quaint and cozy with seating to look over 6th street. I do like this place. The valet parking is super expensive and even on the far side of the hotel I could still hear music from nightclubs so ask them if you can get a room on the quiet side of the hotel lol read more

This hotel was absolutely perfect. Our stay was more than accommodating and really provided exceptional care and attentiveness to our stay. In the negatives I would say there really isn't much. The restaurant below is pleasant and enjoyable, but if it's not your vibe there are many others nearby. Terry blacks is my rec if you can stand the wait but driving to their first location is better. For the positives. They did above and beyond. I wanted to organize a picnic for my partner but his flight was delayed by eight hours so sun in the park was not an option. Hotel has a great location and is very nice. Clean and great pillows. Con is that the mattresses in the room are terrible. Squishy and lumpy. I have not had such a bad mattress in a hotel for a long time. We had two rooms and both were bad. Just be aware you will have to pay $50 bucks a night for parking read more

What an excellent stay! Check-in was super quick and we were greeted by the friendliest employee. I didn't catch his name but he was kind, helpful, and is the type of person who makes everyone feel like a VIP. We were offered complimentary champagne at check-in and they had fresh baked cookies in the lobby as well as infused waters. After leaving the belongings in the room, we hit up the happy hour at the restaurant next door and everything was excellent there as well. We did ballet parking since it was cheaper than the nearby parking garage. You text and they bring your car, and ours was ready in less than a minute. This hotel is an absolute vibe! I frequent their delicious restaurant Verbena and love their pool. I just recently went to a pool party they hosted and the DJs were all great, drinks were fabulous (shoutout to our bartender Olivia) and we split tasty food from the pool menu. You can't beat the location, right on West sixth and walkable to many bars and music venues. Im from Austin but would certainly do a weekend staycation here in a heartbeat! read more

This is a really nice hotel. The rooms are great, it is very clean and the location is perfect. The downside to my stay is that my room was on the side of a nightclub that has extremely loud music until 2 AM. Unfortunately, for the two nights I was here, I was unable to fall asleep until the music was turned off so my time here was anything but restful. If you choose to stay here, I would request a room on the other side of the hotel so you can get a good nights sleep. read more

Stayed a few nights at Canopy and so glad we selected this hotel. It's not exactly cheap to stay there, but the location is absolutely perfect if you want to be able to walk to have a great time as there are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. Lobby area is really nice with seating areas, a pool table, drinks & cookies available. There is a nice on-site restaurant/bar as well as the pool/bar upstairs which is very cool...just wish it had been open later. The balcony with tables next to the pool/bar area is nice for watching 6th St. happenings, but it closed at 10pm when the pool closes which was a bummer for those of us wanting to simply chill and people watch. Would be great if the balcony area was separated from the pool area so it could be used later when the pool (understandably) has to close. Definitely did not appreciate the valet parking ONLY option at the price of $49/day. One could park their car on the street if lucky enough to find a spot, but not sure how safe that is with TONS of people driving & walking by, especially on the weekend. EVERY...SINGLE...EMPLOYEE encountered during the visit was awesome including the valet, front desk employees, housekeeping, bartender and the security guard, Tim. Wish we had gotten all of their names as they are ALL very special and valuable employees at Canopy! Would definitely stay again!!!!!!! read more

I can't say enough good things about this boutique beauty, Canopy by Hilton Austin Downtown, and greeter Otelia, who didn't just check me in when I arrived; she made me feel at home. It can be a bit scary when you are alone in a new city, carrying lots of luggage and not really sure where you are. The hotel and Otelia really went out of their way to accommodate me. I requested early check in, since I got to the city before check in time and had nowhere to go. Without even batting an eyelash, Otelia helped me out. She also provided super helpful information about local food and attractions. (Sandra Bullock's restaurant Walton's Fancy & Staple is right across the street and is so good - check my review on that here for more info - you can also see it from the hotel's rooftop pool in the pics I attached here). Fernando at the front desk went out of his way to help me find an early-morning local place to eat, he even walked outside with me and pointed me in the right direction. From the beauty shot perspective, Hilton did a fantastic job - check out my shots of the lobby, everything is set up with great photos in mind, and some parts of the lobby even felt like you were stepping into an art gallery. Even the hallways smelled good, think it was orchid or coconut scent, similar to pina colada, being pumped in. And then, other times, I thought it was orchids I was smelling. Regardless, everything smelled good. I also really appreciated the filtered water and ice machine on my floor. Great in-room accommodations: Bigscreen TV preloaded with Netflix (just log right in), Tubi and much more. Complimentary tea, ear plugs, body wash, lotion... even a sound machine by the bed. Room was very modern - love the unfinished floor with area rugs and super modern bathroom fixtures and tiling. Beds were fresh and fluffy! Beautiful art throughout the hotel, and feels like every little detail everywhere you go has been closely examined by the staff. Canopy by Hilton is a great spot if need a place in Downtown Austin. Greeted with welcome champagne. The lobby has pool table and cookies. Received upgrade from standard room to room with a "patio". The bed was very comfortable and room is spacious and modern. The bathroom area has a barnyard door to close off if you want privacy. They also offer earplugs, tea and noise machine in the room. It certainly may be needed from some rooms facing sixth street on a Saturday. Pool like many rooftop pools is very small but nice to kill an hour, cool off and get some drinks. Parking is $50 valet only. We parked in a public secure lot across the street for $10. Did not try the on-site restaurant but the bar makes fantasic espresso martini. We stayed for a concert. When we came back from the show our room smelled very heavy of pot. Someone was smoking in a room. It very strong that my wife could not stay the night in that room. I called and they were very fast in moving us to a new room. They also gave me $50 f&b credit on top of my diamond credit I noticed. They proactively did this. I did not ask for anything nor expecting anything. Just a room move. People smoking is not soemthjng they control. But none the less was appreciative and ended up covering the cost for all our drinks at the pool and restaurant. read more

As previously mentioned, it's way too loud and music thumps all night. Due to doing my research, I booked the room over the phone to specifically request a quieter room. When I got to the hotel, the gal was rude and said we can't guarantee that?! I also confirmed the request the day before with the front desk via the app. I would have never stayed here if I knew the 2 times I confirmed the request, it couldn't be made. I was very specific I was here for work and needed decent sleep. The ride front desk lady also said she would text me the next morning to move when someone checks out, or course that never happened and I was also in business meetings all days. Don't lie to people. They also wont give you additional waters as a Hilton honors member and tell you there's water with a paper cup around the corner, really strange bc every other Hilton will. read more

This stay was last minute for me and my spouse, bringing in the new year for just us, and have some couple time since we weren't able to celebrate our anniversary due to the recent increase of COVID. Can I just say that THIS hotel and their service has been so WELCOMING! Front desk and security have greeted upon arrival, most usually greet with attitude or sass or just do not say anything, NOT HERE. Despite one small teeny tiny fixable issue with the toilet (it was done so immediately) even offered to switch rooms, we did but we stuck with the original room because it was larger by a foot LOL. Then we go down because my hunny wanted some water but it was out of service, Bruce who was the front desk gentleman helped us get some water. It was out of order on our floor but he made accommodations and gave us some nice fancy water ;) then proceeded with letting us know that we can enjoy some of the things they offer here to make the stay more "homie" and comfortable. Sitting by the fire and soaking up the vibes and view is okay what we chose briefly. Despite the loud noise, which we don't mind because hellooo you're downtown Austin, on west 6th and there's BARS AROUND. You can not complain but ifffff you do they don't hesitate upon arrival to let you know that they will bring up complimentary ear buds. BRUCE! This man goes OVER AND BEYOND FOR YOUR STAY, honestly. His customer service is more like 10 stars than 5. He gave us a complimentary Prosecco bottle, not sure why but we was grateful. The bar had already closed, cool no problem. He did ask what are room number was and asked what we liked and see if he could make something happen. HE DID! A bottle of Prosecco was that. He also let us come to the balcony, privately and enjoy the view. Last but never the least, a complementary piece of cake to enjoy with the Prosecco and view. Me and my better have have definitely been spoiled this short stay and we could not have been more happy and pleased. WE WILL DEFINITELY RETURN and definitely definitely we will recommend to our friends and family to stay here. read more

The hotel itself is beautifully styled, and in a very convenient location for night life. The staff was nice and there were nice touches like infused water dispensers and cookies in the lobby. However - the BIG con for me was the amount of noise. Being right next to some night clubs, and apparently having paper thin walls, can make it very difficult to have a quiet night's sleep, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. The hotel tried to help out with this by providing ear plugs, sleepy time tea, and even a white noise machine. It's clear they know that this is a problem and that they tried these small measures to address it, but unfortunately it's just not enough. I stayed at a Canopy in Portland that I enjoyed so was happy to find this one in Austin on a recent business trip. The best way to describe the Canopy is it's the hip, cool cousin with a higher monthly stipend or a Hilton Garden Inn in a mid life crisis of the mid range Hilton properties. You know, high ceilings, Edison bulbs, barn doors, lots of greenery. I love the design aesthetic! It caters to the business traveler-namely because of the locations I've seen them in, and the communal work friendly spaces along with free wi fi and work friendly rooms (I stayed at a hotel for work that didn't have a desk! So awkward to type on a laptop). But it also caters to budget conscious travelers who want a modern hotel that doesn't scream "family". This is a green hotel so they recycle, have filtered water machines on each floor and carafes in rooms for guest use, and don't offer housekeeping every day unless upon request. I enjoyed the Nespresso in the room and the comfy bed, and I believe this property is pet friendly. My room was very clean and the pool area was nice. A downside is they don't have an on-site market to buy sundries or snacks and the nearest CVS/Walgreens/Rite Aid was not conveniently located to walk to in 98 degree heat at 60% humidity. Although there is no room service, the attached restaurant Verbena is awesome! I had a late to-go dinner and really loved the menu. Next time I plan on dining in-although with more causal masking in Texas I may wait until I feel more comfortable. I was greeted by a friendly front desk person who provided some good suggestions for food. The best part of this hotel is the location! It's on the west side of 6th street which is a major corridor for food and bars (so many bars). Hahaha. But that means you may get residual outside noise, but my stay was pretty quiet during the week so it may be more of an issue on weekends. We recently stayed at this Canopy Hilton property during the week of Thanksgiving. The hotel is a fantastic part of west Downton Austin. We usually stay on the east side nearer 35 so this was a welcome change with one caveat (discussed later). The staff was super courteous, cheerful and accommodating. Kathleen at the front desk was wonderful. We paid for an inclusive breakfast as part of our reservation. This is served at their Verbena restaurant. We never ran out of choices and never had a bad meal. Their Thanksgiving platter for dinner on the big day felt like home cooking with a modern twist. Like the rest of the hotel there is a modern, minimalist vibe with some midcentury nods. Lots of little nooks to sit and enjoy company or a drink with friends and family. Rooms were spacious for our family of four (including our 12 and 7 year old). As others have mentioned, this is located in a vibrant part of downtown with an active nightlife scene. We had originally booked a corner room with a balcony. What we didn't know if that our room was backed up to a bar/club with a DJ spinning some heavy thumping kick-drum tracks until 2am. The room included ear plugs and noise maker which helped but the sound was intrusive. Now I love good club tracks but not when I am heading to sleep. The next day or so, we asked to move rooms which the hotel staff kindly accommodated. Our new room window faced a parking garage but lacked the bass drums every night. But this is a minor issue. Next time we will know to select another part of the property for our room. This Canopy really was a focal, comfortable part of our trip. Our stay was easy and enjoyable but so was our access to some really great local restaurants, shopping, Whole Foods, Book People and Waterloo Records which were all within walking distance. The hotel's interiors are chic and beautiful! The customer service is top notch from the moment you pull up to the valet to the moment you check out of your room! Jill and Melody went above and beyond to provide an incredible experience! The rooms were SPOTLESS and the entire hotel was squeaky clean. I even saw the staff sanitizing common spaces multiple times throughout the day. The beds are extremely comfortable and I loved the natural lighting and balcony plus filtered water on every floor I loved the on site restaurant, Verbena, as well! The portions are a little small but the food is unique and full of flavor ! The hotel location and amenities including a roof top pool, Nespresso machine, and bikes you can rent are a huge plus as well! If you are a light sleeper, I suggest requesting a room that isn't right off of 6th because it can be a little noisy. Overall, AMAZING stay! read more
