I was a referral of my friend/neighbor and was initially told "we are not taking new clients". I waited for over a year before my friend informed me to try to get my dog in. I have two Bichon Frise dogs one is just a puppy. She has only had one grooming, however her previous groomer allowed her to come for Table Time to get used to the noises and they would trim her nails she is only 7 months old. Upon scheduling here the owner required me to pay $30 per dog just to schedule my appointment. When I arrived I explained that the puppy had mats on her ears and they would need to be shaved. She called me about 30 minutes later to let me know my puppy had "such bad mats that she had hematomas." I arrived back shortly, her ears were wrapped to her head in a tight bandage. I immediately took her to our vet. She confirmed she did not have hematomas, however she was cut. I did not complain-I actually sent a complement to them for my older Bichon's haircut. My husband thought he looked great. My puppy still has thick scabs at the tips of her ears inside and out! Upon checking out I was pressed to reschedule. I have an Italy trip scheduled and was unsure of the arrival home date. Because of my puppy's cut ears the groomer did not cut the ears correctly and I was told I needed to bring her back- She has a vet appointment to be spayed the next day she is scheduled for the hair-cut fix. The groomer said I need to reschedule due to her surgery the previous day. I called to be sure. They have no openings until July 1st. We are out of town. My older pup is scheduled on July 5th. We arrive home on the 5th from memory with no calendar in front of me I was off by a day when the check out person wanted to schedule-the owner, Jade sends a snarky text that my dogs must come 8 weeks out (they are the ones who have zero flexibility) . This business owner informs me that we are not a good fit- No apology for injuring my dog, causing a $150 vet visit. Just a lovely text stating we are not a good fit-Guess What? Jade at Austin Pet Stylist was the very first person/place that my dog, Ghost, ever went to get groomed. He is a stellar dog at the groomer because they gave him a great experience for years. I would still be going to them if I had not moved, but I wanted to come here and thank them for all of the years they spent working on his husky-thick coat. When the simple task of trimming your dog's nails is impossible at home, the staff at Austin Pet Stylist (APS) was there to help! I had been doing my corgi's nails since he was 10 weeks old. No matter how much gradual conditioning I did or what high value treat that I offered him, he dreaded nail time. He was jumpy, resistant, and fought me to the max. The crappy no-name nail grinder that dulled after 2 uses did not help. It was stressful for both my pup and me. His nails eventually got too long. So I brought him into APS and scheduled weekly nail trims ($20). The ladies there are kind, friendly and gentle with your pets. Nail trims are quick, about 5 minutes and wow - what a time saver! After a month, my dog's nails looked better but his quicks weren't really receding. They advised that a 2x week cadence would be better. They pointed out this frequency would be pricey so they encouraged me to buy a table and offered tips to try again at home. The staff here genuinely cares about your dog's health. They could easily just said come in 2x a week ($40/week!) and...I probably would have done it. But I listened to them and got a table. I'm pleased to say that we have made some progress and I hope to see even more. Thanks APS. I'll be back to try some of their other grooming services in the future. read more

Took my 3 month old poodle puppy for her first groom in June and thought they did a great job. They did tell us staying consistent with grooming and working on certain behaviors will help her become adjusted faster to being groomed. However, the location was too far and we decided to find someone closer. After moving further south in September, we decided to come back to APS and emailed for an appointment. Instead I was met with a rude response that did not bother to ask if her behavior has gotten better, if she's had any grooming sessions since seeing APS, or if they could do a trial run with a bath/nail trim. We also didn't realize our puppy could only go to this location for grooming in order to be seen. Will not be coming back purely based on poor customer service. read more

Brought my 7 month old labradoodle in for his first grooming experience and I was beyond worried that my doodle would get "poodled"! The first groom for puppies is "puppy's first style" which consists of a bath, blow dry, and nail trim. She suggested I give him some probiotics. Very helpful. Thank you for letting me know. They've also notified me when my dog's lymph nodes were swollen. They're great and will work around your schedule if you give at least 24 hours notice. Note: They will charge $10 extra if you're 30 minutes late picking up, which is a good policy that I was not aware of, as my husband didn't tell me until after one year. When I signed the credit card receipt for $75, I asked the male receptionist, "Oh, did you raise your price?" "Yes", he replied. Sure, they raised the price from $60 to $65 as they deserve. But he didn't explain the extra $10 was for me being late. The only reason I figured it out was because they charged me $65 today. Poor communication with the male receptionist. read more

It meant a drive from Wells Branch to Willian Cannon but since my dog is so unpredictable I decided to go with her recommendation. Twig is a very anxious dog which makes him unpredictable at times. New places and new faces can be difficult and he can be very reactive. He walked into Austin Pet Stylist with no hesitation and when Jade got down to meet him it's like she was a long lost friend. She has been taking care of Twig for almost six years now. He runs from the car to the door when he sees where we are. It is one of the only places I can leave him without a struggle. I have taken my maltipoo here twice now! He's under a year old, hyper, and has major separation anxiety, but somehow Edith claims my pup (Basil) behaves well! She must be a miracle worker :) I'm always greeted by Jade when I walk in, and within the first few seconds of talking to her, you can tell how much she loves her work! Always so sweet to talk to. Edith does a great job grooming Basil! She's great at delivering what I want and really takes what I say into consideration. She's also very good at keeping me updated on when my pup will be ready for pick up. Basil, a 14 pound maltipoo, typically takes Edith 2.5 hours to groom. Prices are very reasonable and I never leave feeling like I overpaid. The establishment is clean and warm and I never feel frightened my pup will be scared being there. Don't ever ask how your price was calculated. I'd been a regular monthly client for over a year. Rarely was the price the same. Last week I asked how it was calculated. The answer makes no sense. The price was $165. I was told groom was $142 and the rest ($23) was tax. I gave a cash tip. But because I asked, the groomer texted she won't honor previously scheduled (3 months ago) Christmas appointment. Bad customer service. She's rude. There are honest shops but this one isn't. I will contact Texas Sales Tax office and request they investigate this shop's accounting records. P.S. I never pushed the time between grooms and was rarely late arriving for the 9:00 appointment (maybe 5 minutes). I'm certain anyone who travels from San Marcos to Austin occasionally experiences travel delay. I allowed 45 minutes for the 22 mile commute. Kali's groom was always perfect. Price was quoted at $60 per hour which I had no problem paying. I can afford it. I don't object to paying tax but I was never told that tax would be added. Not being from Texas I wasn't aware of tax on grooming service. However I never got an invoice showing how price was computed. Honesty is the most important thing in a business relationship but it's missing at this shop. Be sure to ask for an invoice. It's required by law. read more

I really appreciated that the entire grooming was done in about 2.5 hours- I've waited around for up to 5 hours at other groomers which really puts a wrench in my schedule. Let me start by saying: I have been a loyal client of Austin Pet Stylist for five years. I have taken both of my dogs to be groomed like clockwork every 6-8 weeks, and have always been impressed by the results. I can't say enough good things about Edith, the groomer who has taken care of my dogs; both she and the front desk staff have been nothing but professional and kind. For that, they deserve a five-star rating. Recently, Austin Pet Stylist increased the grooming cost for both of my dogs; I did not complain, as it was a reasonable price increase. However, yesterday I received a notice of another (this time very significant) price increase to $117 for my 10-lb dog. I was very upset and responded accordingly, outlining my objections and letting them know that, at that price, I would likely take my business elsewhere. I did *not* request that my existing appointments be cancelled. This morning, I received a response thanking me for my feedback and notifying me that my existing appointments had been cancelled. I replied, asking them to maintain my appointments for the time being, and received the following verbatim response: "We are not interested in continuing the grooming relationship at this time. We have cancelled further appointments." Given my long-standing loyalty to this establishment, and the fact that I had never before complained, this was an incredibly unprofessional (and actually straight-up rude) response. While, up to now, I've been very satisfied with Austin Pet Stylist's service, the way in which they responded to my very first complaint is completely unacceptable and, in and of itself, merits the one-star rating. read more

Let me start out by saying that Jade is an awesome groomer. For over 2 years she has done a very good job with our GBGV (Jojo) and PBGV (Tory). Jade determined today that we should not bring our pups there anymore. That can happen. However, how it was handled was not done well. When we first started bringing our dogs there it took us a while to settle into a routine and find the right timing between grooming sessions. Then we settled in for a year or so and things were OK. From time to time we had to adjust appointments, but for the most part we figured it out. Our GBGV is at the high end of the weight limit Jade is willing to work with; but for the very first time today I'm told that he's hard to handle and had tried to jump off the grooming table. In the past when we come to pick them up, we've always been told that both of them are well-behaved. Why were we not told that before? In June, when I brought Jojo in but Tory developed severe ear issues at the last minute and she could not come, through no fault of our own, we got hit with a $30 late cancellation fee. The way she was feeling, I was not going to put her, the groomers, or us through that. Jade was not there so another groomer worked with him. We were told he was good during the bathing and grooming. Jade says she's the only one who can handle him, she's not going to work Saturday's anymore and she doesn't want to work with him. So she remains a very good groomer and a very nice person; however, her business sense and how she works with owners leaves something to be desired. I would not discourage anyone from taking their dogs to her; but I recommend asking lots of questions and make sure she is being totally upfront with you; particularly if you have pups with some challenging grooming issues, or are over 50 lbs. read more

I wish the fur cut were a little shorter, but other then that, was happy and will return. I've tried to get my neighbors to check it out, but they're afraid because of the ominous HEB that's there.
