Oh, we did the parade of highly rated contractors and a few name brands. Some were cheaper and some higher in price but, I was more impressed with the low pressure approach and value offered by Austin Pro. This experienced installation crew cleaned up as they worked! The beginning (securing bid and contract) and end (the visual siding replacement) were great. Everything in-between was a train wreck. Our house had asbestos siding and we requested an asbestos removal. They sent two guys to start removing the siding and they were not protecting the surrounding area or themselves with face coverings. We had to tell them to stop working and call the project supervisor. He claimed to not know we had asbestos and had to secure a permit before they could come back out. When they showed up again they made a lame attempt of making it look like they were doing an asbestos removal. Kevin did not require his crew to wear the protective gear and the siding was not wrapped properly nor was our surround property protected. They carried it away by the wheelbarrow and just threw it in a trailer. They covered the trailer and dumped the asbestos - who knows where. When it came to actually replacing the siding with new hardie board we had to watch every step they made. We requested the entire house be insulated before siding installation. I had to monitor the whole process because they would quickly cover areas with the hardie wrap claiming the insulation was there and not needing to be replaced. When I removed the wrap nothing had been done. So frustrating as we were willing to pay the bill for a proper install and knew it would not be cheap. Instead we get the B team that does not want to do the job correctly. Among other things they walked off with our wheelbarrow and I had to call to get it returned. The best part of the processes was their "fixer" Cameron - the guy that comes in and puts everything back on the sides of the house and cleans up. If you're home 24/7 and can watch every step they take and want to raise your stress level - go for it, otherwise you might want to consider another company. read more

I've used this company twice to replace our house windows and sliding doors in two phases. The first experience was great, but our most recent experience this month was AWFUL. I originally placed the order and made the down payment in August and locked in a mid-October installation date. The day of our installation, after we had already removed all of our blinds and curtains per their instructions, no one showed up and I had to contact the company to find out my windows were delayed. I continuously had to contact the company to find out the status of my windows and press to get a new install date. The receptionist started to know me by the sound of my voice. No one EVER proactively contacted me even though they always noted they would call me back with more information. When I hounded them enough to finally reschedule our install date for mid-November, the crew did a good job but complained to my husband about their boss and how they regrettably "weren't able to get high before the job." Really?! That really topped off the experience we had with them being totally unprofessional. I had been recommending this company to our neighbors prior to this experience. We picked Austin Pro Siding to do Hardi board on our 2 story house. After getting multiple quotes, they proved to be a great value. They were very good about answering questions ahead of time to help me decide and be comfortable with moving forward with such a big project. Once the team started work, they took about 3 days to tear down the old siding and put the new siding up, which included sofits and facia board. The team took extra care to get some of the details around window trim just right. The did have a few hiccups, including puncturing an AC line inside my wall, which they promptly had fixed the same day. Things like that can happen, and they handled it very well. Then within a few days the pain crew came and did an equally swift job over just a few days. Then the final work of the punch list items to make it all finished off, including putting lights back up and replacing outlet covers and outlets removed as part of the work. The crew did a great job and did about 3 or 4 sweeps for nails. I am still finding some debris in the yard, but given the size of the project I think that is expected. Definitely recommend this team for your next siding project. We also had them quote windows, which was very competitive. We ended up going with the original contractor who had replaced some of the windows on the home previously to get a match in the window manufacturer. I'm sure they would have done excellent in the window replacement as well. read more

Where to begin... I guess I'll start with the good: Paul was a nice enough guy. The window quality seems pretty solid. The warranty is great with double lifetime on all but one of our windows and lifetime on that one. The other stuff: We ordered 11 of the Simonton Prism Gold windows in White Vinyl. On the day of install, I received a call from Paul saying, "it looks like the warehouse missed a window, oh, and by the way, your windows are beige prism bronze ." WTF. I was encouraged to go take a look at the windows and not rush to a decision about removing them and getting white vinyl put in. So, I go to the house, the install guys had slowed down the progress on my hardwood floor install. The windows were beige while the trim through my entire house is white, so yes, they look horrible. I was offered a substantial discount to keep the windows. But after about 2 minutes of thinking, "wait a second, we didn't put all this attention to detail in the rest of our remodel only to have windows that didn't match throughout our house," we decided to have them removed and have the white windows installed. The problem with this plan is twofold. One, since they installed beige windows, they used beige caulking which would have to be removed, pulling away our new paint with it. Two, since the windows would have to be reordered, we would have to wait another three weeks before a reinstall. So, since the only reason we picked APS&W, was because they could get our windows in before our move in date, we now had to move into the house, unable to install the security system, and would have to have a crew come and disrupt our house once more. So, white windows were ordered we received about 400$ off of the bill and everything was on its way. We survived without the security system and one old metal window for about 3 weeks. Then, install day arrives. Raiders Custom Exteriors lead the install. The main guy, Steven came by in the morning, we discussed some details of how I wanted the quarter-round removed on all the windows. he said "all, ok sure, we're running late should be over in an hour." Window crew arrives, lead from that group, Tommy comes up, we discuss the quarter round, he says "all, ok sure, the other part of the team should be here soon." I made sure we had white windows and went to work. I come back later in the day to do a walk through. What do I see? Quarter round on half of the windows. "Ok, take it off, we talked about this" "oh, I thought we decided to leave it on where there was brick" "no take it off" "all, ok, sure" I hear grumbling from upstairs as the guys doing the actual work were told they had to remove quarter round and re-caulk. Big man comes through and tells them to go light on your caulk we're running low. I don't bother with this, who even knows how this will affect me in the long run. They cleaned up, we paid the balance, they left. At the end of the day, we got all the windows in the color we ordered. One window opens the opposite of the way we ordered it, but by the time they had it in the wall I was done with the whole ordeal. I'm sure good work can be done by this same crew, but our experience was not that at all. This was Paul's first time with this crew and apparently his first time ordering windows. Blame was ultimately placed on the warehouse, but who even knows. Bottom line with all of this, go somewhere a little bit more established with more reviews and a longer history in Austin. read more

We evaluated several companies before choosing Austin Pro Siding to install James Hardie siding on our home. We called and were given an appointment for our home inspection within a couple of days. The salesman arrived on time, was very knowledgeable about James Hardie siding, and gave us clear expectations about the replacement process. One of the owners (Kevin) of the company came to our home, measured for the materials required, discussed the entire project, and answered all our questions. The siding replacement crew arrived exactly when they were scheduled and stayed for the next 4 days until all the siding was replaced. They worked nonstop and cleaned up after themselves every day before they left. The painting crew also arrived when scheduled and were done painting in 2 days. Both crews were very efficient and professional. The point up person (James) arrived when scheduled and reinstalled lights, door weather stripping, dryer vent cover, door kick plate, house numbers, and all other items needing attention. James was exceptional and made sure we were completely satisfied before he left the property. At the beginning of the project Kevin told us that we would be delighted when the project was complete and he was absolutely correct. So, a little background to this story. Paul at Austin Pro Siding & Windows was actually the third person my wife and I spoke to about redoing the siding and the windows on our home. First we spoke with one of my acquaintances, a professional contractor. We hadn't intended to look any farther than that, but when is estimate came in WAY over what we expected, we next checked in with the contractor who had redone the siding on my parents' house a couple of years ago. They had been pleased with his work, even if it took much, much longer than it should have. That attempt didn't work out either. Before I even called Paul, I was resigning myself to the idea that renovating the exterior of my home was going to be a lot more expensive than I anticipated. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised with Paul's estimate to replace our windows, siding, and doors. He listened to what we were looking to do, offered suggestions when we needed them, and came back with a number that we were very pleased with. Now here's where the story gets interesting. Our home was built in 1984. Evidently, the building codes have changed quite a bit since then... And the builders just plain did some crazy stuff. Most of our window openings were non-standard sizes, and the opening in our son's bedroom needed to be widened in order to meet the egress code. My wife really had her heart set on double-hung windows, but unfortunately there was just no way to make those work with the wide openings we have for most of our windows. Paul tried every conceivable method to make it work, and explored (and then explained) our every possible option. We found an alternative that we liked, and scheduled our installation. The installation of both windows and siding went smoothly and quickly. A few minor hiccups arose during the process, but Paul and his team quickly addressed them and worked with us to make sure everything was done right and that we were happy. We had some additional work done during the siding job, and Paul and his team were able to handle it quickly and at a reasonable price. With a job this big and involved, it's not realistic to expect everything to go completely smoothly. What really matters to me is how the business handles the issues that arise. When we had questions or issues, Paul was quick to make sure everything was addressed quickly. Hi Internet! I actually got several different bids on getting my house that was long overdue for it, resided. While all my bids were decent I choose Austin Pro Siding and Windows for a few reasons. Paul the owner showed up on time on a day it was pouring rain. He cheerfully measured my home (in the rain) then came inside and sat down with me to talk about what I wanted. While most companies I had gotten bids from had only a few styles and colors of Hardie products Paul offered a variety of different styles and colors. I was shocked when I was told it was all the same price when I had been told different by other companies. I also got bids from Paul to add two picture windows in my home on walls that did not have any windows at all. Austin Pro Siding and Windows was not the cheapest bid I got, but it was not the highest either. Plus we were able to choose a style we loved and the color we wanted. First Paul's crew came and installed the windows. Chuck is the name of the carpenter and when I say he is amazing, I mean he is amazing! My neighbor is a building inspector and was very impressed by the work Chuck and his team did. Chuck is very professional and considerate and treats his crew with the same level of professionalism. They worked harmoniously and were very, very tidy. Chuck also installed a new French door at my sister's place. All my sister kept saying was how nice Chuck is to his crew and what a great job they did on her door. We also had some mason work done on the outside of the house where one of the new windows was installed. I forgot the mason guy's name but you can tell he had been in the trade forever as he did a nice artistic design around my window, instead of just putting the brick back. Now down to the brass and tacks, Kevin, his crew installed the siding. These guys worked from 8am-8pm in 100 degree heat almost nonstop. They got it up and looking like a new house in two days. Afterwards the paint crew came and did the same thing, in two days the paint was done. We got EXACTLY what we wanted, the Custom Colonial Smooth in the Boothbay Blue with Arctic White trim. It looks amazing!!! We LOVE the color! These guys are Class Acts, they know what they are doing, and they do it well. This is only about the quote process. I contacted a number of different vendors to get quotes on HVAC, siding, windows, and roof. Of the 12 vendors I met with, Pro Siding was the only one who did not get me a quote by the either the end of the visit or by the end of the day at the very latest. I let our sales rep know on several occasions that it would be impossible to meet again due to busy work schedules and wanting to make a decision quickly. I was told that they really wanted to meet again so that we could get a good understanding of the work done and they would have a chance at earning our work. Because of the lack of flexibility to get me a quote ASAP they automatically lost out on the contract. I don't know how people are able to make multiple appointments to get quotes. Like night and day! We had 30 year old defective siding that was rotting in places and that rot was getting to the frame. We called several local companies and agreed to use Austin Pro Siding & Windows. They were a little less expensive than others, but the from the initial responsiveness to the no pressure, informative sales approach that night, we were left with a very good feeling for such a massive job. We went with the lap Hardie and they were able to start work 2-3 weeks before we thought they would be. The crew worked long days and nights, making quick work of the old siding and then wrapping the house. Each day I came home from work, another side or large section was done. Paul came out and he is amazing! This guy was so friendly, knowledgeable, easy going and not trying to sell anything! He just gave me recommendations and let me choose! That's incredible these days! The cost of the windows were extreme reasonable, included installation, trim, painting the trim etc. the install crew were polite and hard working. Especially since we had a 12 month old baby taking naps they worked on opposite windows of the house. There was a small issue with one of windows that I would have never have noticed but they pointed it out to me and Paul was immediately on it and making sure the manufacturer would come out and fix it and it was fixed within a week! After years of wanting and waiting, we finally made the decision to fix up the old house. After looking at 3 different companies we decided to go with Austin Pro Siding. I think the thing that put them over the top is Paul was nice enough to bring me a Rudy's breakfast taco when he came by the first time. I can't guarantee everyone else will be so lucky though. Like others have said before Paul was easy to work with and we had great communication throughout the project be it texts, calls or personal visits. Chuck and his guys showed up first with the new windows. They had our eight 1976 aluminum single-pane windows out and nice new ones installed in about 7 hours. Next was the siding. Out with the old, deteriorating Masonite fiberboard and in with the new HardiePlank. Kevin and his team had it done in 2 days. The painting was finished up soon after. The painted the eaves, and all the doors - garage, front, and patio. Everything is finally one color now. Cameron finished up the job making sure everything was back to normal. He re-attached all our electric and TV cables, outlets, dryer vent, and porch lights. He went the extra mile mortaring and touching up around our old rock chimney. We couldn't be more pleased with the results. It is quieter now in our house. The barking neighborhood dogs are barely audible. Is it weird to want to hug your siding company and throw them a party at completion?! I cannot say enough about our positive experience with Austin Pro Siding & Windows! We interviewed 4 different siding companies to completely re-vamp our 1960's home by removing the original cement tile siding and replacing it with Hardie board before painting the entire home (including front brick facade and facia boards, soffits, gutters, etc.). We had Hardie already installed (incorrectly) on an extension and we had our work cut out for us to create a seamless, clean look on our psuedo 2-story cape-cod, psuedo ranch home. The quotes we got from each company were very comparable in cost, but Kyle, our sales rep with Austin Pro Siding & Windows was so personable, professional, organized and interested in helping us conceptualize some unique add-ons (for the same price) that we chose them. Wow! Were we blown away! Every step of our process with Austin Pro Siding was clear, professional, personable and communicated effectively. We worked directly with Kyle as he organized our project with owner Paul Schantz and his Hardie guru, Kevin. All three of them walked our property with us before, during and after completion to ensure we were on the same page about the process and results. Kyle and Kevin both made great suggestions to help achieve the look we wanted by bulking up our front columns and adding board and batten style siding to our front gable. All three of them communicated directly with us throughout the project. Their crews (ours led by Mimo) arrived early each day and worked tirelessly. Summary: Austin Pro Siding was absolutely wonderful from the very beginning. Professional, meticulous, excellent work product, kept the site clean, very responsive, and even quick. I highly recommend them. Details: We used Austin Pro Siding to reside our small house (about 850sf) 20-25 outside of Austin, between Batrop and Elgin - in other words, off the beaten path. Nonetheless, owner Paul and his crew treated us as if we were a huge job for them. I called Austin Pro Siding and one other to get estimates. Paul himself came out and offered to come in the evening after work if that was better for us. We were impressed with both companies, but Paul seemed a bit more involved somehow, and his price was about 10% lower than the other guy, even with the other guy giving us a discount for a friends' referral. Knowing we're trying to get work done quickly to get our house on the market, Paul moved us up on his calendar as far as he could. He estimated 7-10 working days to complete. His crews finished the siding, painting, and punch-out in 5 working days. Paul himself came out at two points to inspect the job, including after punch out. He's a little OCD about his work, which is something I greatly appreciate in a craftsman! As an example, after he had inspected the final project with us to all of our satisfaction, he sat with my husband and me on our porch for a few minutes chatting (it was the end of the day). He spotted a small water pipe coming out of the wall for hose attachments, with a tiny bit of open space between the edges of the hole in the wall and the pipe. He got up, dug some caulk out of his materials, sealed it, and dabbed off the small smears with a paper towel. And I have to mention how responsive Paul was. Not only did he keep in touch with progress reports on scheduling, but he responded to emails and phone messages almost immediately, even on weekends, even though none were urgent. Paul clearly has a great work ethic and high standards, wants his clients to be happy not just with the finished product but throughout the process, and he hires workers who fit that mold. read more

co-owner wisely said we should stick with RF13 because the extra pressure from the RF15 could push our interior dry wall and the nails might pop out. We definitely didn't want to damage our interior so Kevin's recommendation was a real headache saver in the future. Our reimbursement from the RF15 purchased to the RF13 used was very generous. We love the quiet new windows in the house, especially the room where we framed in 3 french doors and put windows in. It's a whole different room and looks gorgeous! The siding was a combination of board and batten and lap - very attractive! We chose this company based on the window brands they sold, services they offered, easiness to work with (no heavy sales pitches here!), and reviews from satisfied customers. I have an old 1950s house with weird shaped windows. Paul and his crew were solid from the beginning. Never pushy as a salesman and very easy to get ahold of. The work was quick and efficient and problem-free. A few months after the install, my yardman broke a big, expensive window. Paul reminded me I was still under warranty and helped me get it replaced through Simonton, the manufacturer. Nice guy, solid work. I can't recommend them enough. read more

The best home improvement I've had done in 30 years. I own a 1957 house that is in constant need of repairs. Jaco came out and gave me a no pressure bid, then patiently amended it a couple of times. I realized it would be the smartest decision to have all my windows and sliding glass door replaced. A decision I will never regret. Recently these guys essentially rebuilt two sides of my house. We have a very old home where the windows were painted shut, the siding was old and rotting in places, and the walls just really weren't straight.. you get the picture.. Paul's team did top notch work both inside and out. I am ecstatic about our new simmonton windows and certainteed siding, but relatively speaking it's like comparing an original Model T to a new Ferrari. We just needed to come into the 21st century. My wife and I just had two new windows installed to brighten up our cave like living room. These were completely new installs, in other words there were no windows there previously. I'll keep this short on sweet: The salesman, Greg Anderson was friendly and knew his stuff. The whole team communicated great. (never left me in the dark wondering what was going on). Their pricing was what I expected. They showed up when they said they would, provided what they said they would, did great work and cleaned up neatly. From start to finish, we had an amazing experience with Austin Pro Siding and Windows. Staff was all very nice, timely, put together. The response times are fast and efficient, support staff was great. They came in below the other two bids we received back, which is surprising for such a great service and high level of professionalism. Paperwork is electronic, completed on the iPad with Jaco, no printing and signing and emailing back, etc. A small thing that was very much appreciated. We had a tight deadline and a custom ordered window, and they were realistic and accommodating with us. Everyone on the team was great, especially the lead man Chuck. They were able to get the installation done in one day, with no mess, as promised. We love our new windows and are grateful Austin Pro Sliding and Windows helped us to make such a great investment! The only complaint (that doesn't take away from the 5-star review) I have is that once the team was doing the paint touch ups, it was pretty clearly the wrong paint. We take full responsibility for this as it is the homeowners job to provide the right paint, but we do wish someone had said something if they noticed while painting. read more

Getting bids on window replacement can be a real challenge. We decided to replace 15, 31 year old windows and went out to bid. We originally were just looking to do a "like for like" replacement. Jaco measured and informed us that due to code changes we would not be able to go with double hung in a couple of the rooms. This was actually great news as we decided on casement windows. We spoke with 2 other vendors and contracted with Austin Pro for the job. They were not the least expensive however provided the best total package. We went with the Allside windows which provided a large exposed frame on the outside and we felt the casement mechanism was better than the others we saw. Paul and Chuck came out to take the exact measurements and explained the lead time on the job. Chuck's crew was exceptional, they arrived on time, cleaned up daily (this was a 2 day job due to some construction we had them do) and were a great crew. Chuck inspected every window with us to insure we were satisfied. Thank you Austin Pro, great professional service. read more

Paul came highly recommended by a dear friend and I was eager to get the process started of replacing all the windows in my house. He seemed like a nice guy and was pretty thorough in measurements. The quote came back great. I was told it would take 3 days to replace the 30+ windows in my house with 3-5 workers taking care of things. It took them 9 days and most of the time only 2 people were working. When 1 person showed up at 9:30 as the start time I was a little surprised, another worker arrived at about 10. They worked until 4:00. The next day the same 1 person showed up at 8:00, the second person arrived at 12:30, they immediately took a lunch break for 1 1/2 hours and started again at 2 working until 7 that night. It was horrible, for 4 days they did not come back (2 of those days were expected because of holiday) - all the bedroom windows had huge gaps left in them. Temperatures at night at this time were in the 20's and 30's. My 2 small children both got sore throats due to sleeping in such weather. Finally they came back and sealed all the gaps - it took only about an hour to do all the sealing. It was so infuriating that they could have easily done it before giving themselves a 4 day break. Work progressed over the next few days and in that time one worker got caulk all over my son's bed, all over one of my dressers, all over the wall and the carpet. Very sloppy, I am grateful that one worker was very carful and fixed all the mistakes but the damage had already been done. I am grateful that they finally finished and the window quality (Don Young) is excellent. Overall, I am very disappointed with choosing to hire this team. read more
