This place is awesome! I make a point to whenever I go there to order a different entree each visit. The owner and waitresses are very friendly and attentive. The salad bar is simple, but fresh and delicious... as is their coleslaw too. The portions are hearty. Every meal I have had is great! Stopped on our way back to TN from a cruise out of Galveston. Everything we got was delicious! My daughter got the grilled chicken and it was phenomenal. Well this place was a nice surprise. We were driving back home from Florida and we needed some dinner. I saw this place near on google so I opened my yelp app and checked out the reviews and they were good. This place was a typical Texas "diner" I guess. The decoration, the display of things and the staff was like what you see when they display TX in most movies but in a good way. The food was great. Fried everything which once in a while its ok. Service was fantastic. And the prices were amazing. We all had either chicken fried steak or chicken fried chicken and they were perfectly cooked and with the gravy they had a very southern flavor. Definitely a perfect spot when you return to TX from that side of the state. read more

If I could give it 0 stars, I would. My brother and I stopped in on our way back to Shreveport and got the WORST experience ever. We waited 15 minutes for our waitress to take our order and then waited 30 minutes to get our order. When the plates came, the food was COLD. LITERALLY REFRIGERATOR COLD! When I asked to just pay for the drinks that we consumed, I was told to " just go. Solid home-style cooking with reasonable prices. The fried shrimp basket has excellent flavor. It reminds me of the way shrimp at Big Pines Lodge used to taste decades ago. Catfish and chicken fried steak are also stars of the menu, freshly made-to-order. The staff is friendly. The decor is, well, lacking. But give them time. Visited the Honey Hole last evening with my husband after months of stalking their Facebook page lol (we live about 25 miles away). He had the special of the day which was prime rib (approx 14-16oz), a side, salad and Texas toast all for $20!!!! I ordered the small chicken fried steak plate (and I had enough for leftovers ). Hubby said the steak was seasoned well and my CFS was tasty. The sides were good as well (you can add salt and pepper to your taste) and they also offer complimentary beans. The atmosphere was welcoming as the staff were friendly. This was our first visit, but definitely will not be our last. read more

I would swear this was an old Catfish King building (their new location(2024)). Walked in and was greeted by lake and fishing motif. There were plenty of options on the menu, a side salad bar and complementary beans(spicy) for the liking. I got the grilled fish and it literally melted in my mouth. Ate at Honey Hole for my birthday on March 28th. Wanted the large chicken fried steak but they were out, so they agreed to give me 2 of the halves, which was basically the same thing. Chicken fried steak was fork tender, with good batter, and good gravy, toast and mashed potatoes. My one small nitpick would be that pretty much everything would have been taken up a notch with some seasoning, especially the chicken fried steak batter and gravy. My mom wanted shrimp but they were out, so she got fish. She basically echoed my sentiments that seasoning would definitely help, but said the coleslaw was good. My dad had a chicken sandwich, and said it was fine, but he was more complimentary of the beans, which came with the meal. He said they were great. My mother and I ordered fried pies for dessert and they were both good. Overall, I thought it was a good meal that could have easily creeped into 5 star territory with a few small changes. I've lived here for years and this was the best catfish in a restaurant that I've tasted for miles. This was not your regular ordered from the supplier and cook catfish they had to go and catch this themselves from the lake and fry it. It tasted like your uncle made it at the family fish fry and I'm glad I got to come. My waiter had some great personality and was helpful as we needed her. The decor for the time of the season was festive and you've gotta love creativity! I pray this place gets all the traffic it needs because it's definitely a Honey Hole for some great eats. read more

What a treat for our road trip lunch! My husband had the "small chicken fried steak" lunch and I had the cheeseburger with onion rings. The small chicken fried steak was more than generous and oh such tender steak. The burger was so big that I had to bring half for later. The onion rings are what dreams are made of. Lashes was our server and she was so efficient and most friendly. Timing is everything when you are traveling and it was a quick stop. We have waited 12 years to go into this place! One of the first places J&G wanted to go was called "The Fish Net" , in this location, and that sign stayed up there years and years. Along come these people and 2 weeks ago they open this! The Honey Hole.1 Big place, not enough tables for the business but they are getting more we were told. Good food, American like Chicken Fried Steak, Fried Catfish, Burgers, BLT's and so on. Complimentary beans also. We got the Fried Catfish with Onion Rings and the 1/2 Chicken Fried Steak and split these.....a lot of food! Complimentary beans very good with meat and jalapeños in it. Fried Fish very good but we thought the Onion Rings too much batter or something. Chicken Fried Steak with white gravy very good and just half! The whole CFS is 16oz!.. Lots of options, very good, friendly service, etc....we will be back. We halfed our meals with each other so we could each try it all and after that and the beans..........we did not finish.
