I decided to take my auto here based on other Yelp reviews, and I was not disappointed. Unlike other reviewers, however, I did not drop-in unannounced; I made the appointment the day before. The service quote was accurate with regard to both time and expense. I got the ceramic tint to the lowest legal limit in Texas in both the front and back, but did nothing with the windshield this time. They were done in a little less than two hours. Austin Window Tint is in a complex full of other auto-related businesses. Recently, the vacant lot adjacent to the complex was fenced off so no cars could be parked there, and the loss of access to this lot has created a parking issue for the entire complex. I parked right outside the door to Austin Window Tint, but wish I had been a bit more mindful about traffic coming through the lot. I did not get hit, but other folks had to slow way down to maneuver around me. I was going to move the car, but Charlie, one of the guys who works at Austin Window Tint (going on something like 7 years - so, 'the newbie'), had already taken my keys, and Charlie was on the opposite side of the complex trying to help someone who had accidentally locked their keys in their car. As soon as Charlie was back from his random act of kindness, my car was in the bay, out of the right-of-way, and ready to be worked. Two hours is a long time for me to sit as I am fidgety, so it was nice they have a diverse array of collectibles thrown around the waiting area - mostly related to movies and music. I was able to fill the rest of the time getting my own coffee (coffee tends to make me less fidgety) and perusing the various awards tacked up around the shop. There is a restroom in the waiting area, and it was as clean as any other toilet I've ever used in a garage. In fact, poopouri spray is made available on the tank for the more modest of those among us. I, however, did not have the opportunity to use the spray, so cannot speak to its effectiveness. Charlie made interesting small talk quite a bit during the wait, and had some really solid recommendations regarding some folks who might be able to perform some other work I want to get done. Before I knew it, nearly two hours had passed and I was being told my car was ready. It was the owner of Austin Window Tint, a veteran in the glass tint business with well over 20 years of experience, and a real personable fellow as well. Upon receiving my auto, I was advised to keep the windows rolled up for a couple of days and to park in the sun to facilitate the curing process. Really good job on tinting the windows. All of my questions were answered before and afterwards. This would have been a five star review if not for a few surprising lapses in professionalism. They left the plastic backing from the portal tints in my back seat. I don't appreciate garbage being left in my car. It shows that they don't pay much attention to cleanup and makes me wonder on what other details they don't pay attention. They also didn't clean the outside of any of my windows when they were done. They left big water and soap stains on the outside from when they measured and cut the tint. I had to wash them myself when I got home. Finally and most upsetting is that there was a giant 8" high and 6" long scuff on my back bumper on the far passenger side. It was 100% not there before I came into Austin Window Tint. This is a brand new car and I'm constantly examining the body so much so that I notice a tiny dab of bird poop. I'm not going to file a claim because I was able to buff 90% of the scuff out but it still left a permanent scar that you can see if you're a few feet away. Disappointed. read more

Well, the highlight is the customer service. However, I was not so happy with my final result of tinting. After not looking so good at 3 weeks after my tint was installed, I went back to Austin Window Tint and voiced my concern. They happily replaced the rear window tint due to imperfections. The lame part was the imperfections stayed and the result has me always being bugged about the eyesore on my rear window that has bugged me since day 1 of having installed. They said it because of the bubbles on my window, yet I was not told this prior to installation (the risk or difficulty involved) and oddly enough I see other Honda accords with tint successfully done on the rear window. Looks like I'll have to find somewhere else to get this fixed. read more

Went in to get tint on my truck over six months back and wanted to wait a bit to write a review. Tint has held up with no problems, no bubbles or discoloration. I was satisfied with the service and price was competitive. I did purchase the warranty and a passenger scratched the tint on a backseat window a month after install. I thought the warranty would cover the replacement but it actually only covers a replacement if the tint becomes discolored or they mess up the installation. So I had to pay like another $40 for tint on one window. Overall, good work so I would go to them again, but I wish I hadn't bothered with the warranty. And like a previous reviewer stated (Alex?) items were left in my car (a spray bottle of liquid and another tool). read more

Good option to get your vehicle tinted. Not the cheapest place in town, but good workmanship using a quality product. $180 charged for side and back windows on my 2016 Honda Fit where we opted to have an additional full front window covered with a transparent film to knock down the heat. I'm absolutely sure it's not just my imagination that it really is cooler inside the car from having done the front windshield and that the AC isn't working as hard. That cost an extra $180 but they knocked off $50 to get it done along with the side and rear windows as a bundle. ONE VERY IMPORTANT NOTE from my experience with them today. I've got to take the car back and get David to put a sticker in-between the glass and film that says: "Complies with TRC Chapter 547" (or "Complies with TTC 547.613 (b)" which is required by law. I could get a ticket for not having a sticker that says this. Also as the installer, they could be fined $1,000 for not putting the sticker in place: "A person in the business of placing or attaching transparent material...commits a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $1,000...if the person does not install a label that complies with Section 547.609 between the transparent material and the...window of the vehicle." (Texas Transportation Code Sec. 547.613) Their sticker with logo says 'Complies with DPS' which became invalid in 2009 when the new code went into effect. They need to update their stickers with the new verbiage and make sure to put them in-between the glass and tint, otherwise as the installer, they are breaking the law and could be fined $1,000! Likewise, as the driver, I could be ticketed for the sticker not being there! Other than this detail which I trust David will fix when I being the car back in, I'm a happy customer and would plan on bringing other cars to him down the road. read more

I waited about 4 months to write this review because I wanted to see if the tint would hold up. Easy 5 stars. Everyone was friendly, they worked very fast, and the work is perfect. I think with tints, it's either done right or not. This was done right. Not one bubble. Alignment is perfect. I was scared at first because it looked horrible, but he told me it would tighten up and it would look great after getting some sun on it. Thank goodness he was right. That's just the process I guess. I let it sit outside for hours and it looked perfect the next day. Very professional work and friendly staff. This place is fairly priced, finished my window tinting on time, and were all around just really nice people. They have 3 dogs that you can meet, if interested. They are small, cute puppers...and very sweet. They have free WiFi, a TV, and a small coffee zone in the waiting area with some biscotti. Super cute local spot. This place deserves all the stars and good reviews it has received so far. I brought my car in and they had the entire tint job turned around in about 1.5 hours. I didn't even have an appointment. They had originally quoted longer. The guy at the front desk was very patient and walked me through my different tint options. I was very pleased with the shade of tint that I ended up choosing. I also compared prices with other vendors across town and I found that they had the most reasonable prices. I also was able to use the YELP coupon in addition. In my opinion, all too often people misunderstand the term "taking care of the customer." What it truly means, is going the extra mile. Not only meeting your customer's needs, but making sure they leave more than satisfied. Austin Window Tint did exactly this, and took it a couple steps further... To summarize, I had just bought a used honda civic from BMW of Austin earlier the same day. I then went straight to Austin window tint. I was immediately greeted by their genuine, friendly staff and they answered all of my questions patiently. I dropped off my car to have the windows tinted, and left them to do their work. I received a call exactly when promised, and went over to pick up the car. It looked literally perfect. I forgot to mention, I have to read people for a living, and I can always tell when fake people are trying to be real. These people are as friendly, real, and skilled as the day is long. While they were wrapping things up, I explained I had just purchased the car, and one of their staff helped me check the fluids in my newly acquired used vehicle. Oil and coolant were both dangerously low. (I thought dealors were supposed to check this stuff!) They sympathised and provided extra coolant they had on hand... Here's the best part... They offered... I didn't ask! I even had to argue with the guy just to get him to take the cash (tip) I was offerring him. I was then provided a complementary trip to a local auto parts place to acquire more oil (It didn't even register on the dipstick). Needless to say, I wish I could give Austin Window Tint 10 stars. I needed two windows tinted on my SUV and also two rain guard covers replaced above the passenger and driver windows. Since it was going to take 25 minutes or so I checked out the Mexican restaurant on the corner from the recommendation of the guys in the shop. Man was that spot on good! So back to the review. After returning to the shop the Windows were finished and looked awesome. The rain guards that I needed replaced had an issue. I guess I ordered the wrong type (they were the type that goes under the window trim and I couldn't do the job until the tint settles down). The adhesive under the old rain guards were so cracked and old (as hard as a rock) it left a horrible looking mess. The guys in the shop removed as much as they could via a heat gun and some air powered rubber buffer and then brought in the expert from the body shop a few doors down (C & S Body Shop) to see if he could help with the remaining adhesive. After settling up with Austin Windows Tint my vehicle was moved to the body shop where the owner worked tirelessly and removed all signs of the adhesive and made that area on both sides look like new. The cool thing is Austin Window Tint did not charge me for removing the adhesive with the heat gun and the rubber (eraser) sander! Not that's service and to boot, the body shop owner charged me basically nothing to make it all look like new. I will recommend Austin Window Tint to any one as there service and prices are as good as it gets! read more

Well - it's one of those times where you really wish there was a 6th star. Let me start off by saying I was a "tough" customer and they never even flinched in taking care of me. I went in on Sunday on a whim based on previous reviews stating that theres no need to look past this place for window tint. I had bought a new Cube last year and had put this need off for too long. When i got there they were running their typical special and specials for ceramic tint that supposedly reduced ambient heat by a 10-15% improvement over typical tint. You can also use a clear version for your front. [ DONT LET SAFETY INSPECTORS FOOL YOU- you legally can have a CLEAR UV shield so don't let them spook you off doing this very cool thin for your car!] Anyways I went for it a complete ceramic wrap (ie all my windows including the front). They finished this sizable project in 3 hours (cubes windows are not small by any stretch) while I waited in their hospitable wait area. They offered me a soda and let me know the wifi password. Cable TV didn't hurt either. When i was done I was very impressed! There wasn't a single solitary bubble. Usually there is SOME kind of bubble during settling but you can tell they were wanting to be impressive to me like I was a secret shopper or something! They had cut around my inspection stickers and the stupid dealer had put them damn near half way up my window. So there was a sizable box cut out from bottom left. Nobody else would've cared but I'm defiantly high "A" personality that this little detail was bumming me out. They hadn't done anything wrong - they just did their best to leave space to have future inspectors not jack up my tint. So they accommodated me by taking 15 min while they were closing to cut out the box a little more aesthetically after I took the effort to move my stickers. [yes i got a new inspection for sole purpose of new sticker] I STILL thought it was too frustrating to have this sizable box[ the Cubes windshield is HUGE so a "small part" of this huge window goes a long way] in my field of vision while I was driving. So they (with me only paying straight up for the cost of new film for windshield) have taken the ADDITIONAL labor to NOW remove the perfectly installed windshield film - just to accommodate a clearly anal retentive client. Charlie is the go to guy with questions - he is very pleasant to speak with (no pressure, as many or as little details as necessary, and genuine business sense) David - the owner - is proud of his work and I really believe him that he really wants me to be so happy with his work that I will sing his praises. Well played sir - well played. India is David's daughter and is the reason why waiting is actually relaxing! These folks are diamonds in the rough and I will be looking forward to installing my Rockfort speakers in a few months thanks to me consulting with Charlie on my custom needs! read more

Charlie was very accommodating to me. I'm OCD when I comes to window tint and the first layer had quite a few dust particles trapped underneath the film (in my eyes). Dust is inevitable with tint. Everything has to be super clean and even then there can be dust in the air. So even the best tinters sometimes get dust under their work. Anyways, they were kind to enough to redo that window. My truck is my baby and hoping to keep it for awhile! Glad I could have a quality job done (with quality Ceramic tint) on my vehicle. Will be bringing more business in the future. 7/17/18 Update. I got a rock chip in my windshield and had to get my windshield replaced, thus needed to get my tint redone. Coincidentally, I saw someone on the road with a great job done on their truck a week prior. They had gotten the tint job done at another shop in town, JC's Window Tint. On the whim, I decided to switch it up and have it done there. I didn't think the job I got done at Austin Window Tint could have been done better, but have to admit that JC's did do it better. Almost flawless job done at JC's. Whereas even on the second try at AWT, there was still noticeable dust/air in some areas. The attention to detail and craftsmanship was stunning at JC's. The people at Austin Window Tint are great and have very competitive pricing. Though bottom line with craftsmanship, I have to hand it to JC's, and put AWT second best. read more

I had my VW Golf tinted about two years ago. I remember the owners being really professional and friendly. Great product at a fantastic price. My car looked awesome. Unfortunately, I had to bring my car back a couple weeks ago because of bubbling on the rear window. It kept getting worse by the day. I was told on the phone it would take an entire day to remove and reapply the film, which was somewhat annoying. With that in mind, I planned to take my car in and then take a Fare to Whole Foods and spend my day at the nearby stores before picking my car up. I dropped off my car at 10:00 when they opened. I was told that the glue on the rear window had started to melt. I gave them my keys and went inside to the waiting area. After checking my email I was ready to arrange for a Fare. I was pleasantly surprised that the job had already begun and that it would take only another hour, so I waited. My car looks great again. I give 5 stars even though I had to endure the inconvenience of bringing my car in a second time. It's just that the guys are such good people and they took care of me. I just got my car totally re-tinted. It's a 2002 so David had to strip the old tint that was big- time bubbling up and then replace it. He did all four side windows, the back windshield and a kick-ass tint across the top of the front windshield. He was up front about the cost, how long the job would take, and he finished right on schedule. The price was fantastic- I never commit to a business transaction until I get at least four estimates and his was, by far, the most reasonable. I am highly satisfied with the tinting completed on my new Audi A3. The service was great from beginning to end. The owners were prompt with the inquiries pertaining to the tinting and differences in prices relative to the other comparable films available. I went as dark as legally possible and have not had any bubbling of the film nor any issues otherwise. In this Texas heat the phantom film used has substantially reduced the heat index inside my car as well as protected my interior's leather from getting too hot.
