Coming here requires a change in perspective. It is a wonderful space to work during the day or…read morehold an in-person meeting. Think of it as a calm, upscale sitting lounge with lots of natural light (but still a moodiness, owing to the dark furnishings), that also happens to have food and drinks available. You may not be promptly served menus like in a restaurant; they aren't going to rush you out to turn your table after 45 minutes either. Come to sit and chat or work, and appreciate the fact that you don't have to dash out to get a bite to eat when you get too hungry. The guac is great. The protein in the smoothies is not sufficiently blended.

The club is beautifully decorated, and the restaurant/bar serves good food and drink. We stayed in a nice hotel room, but were quite surprised to discover that we had no hot water. After many attempts to fix it, and move us to another room that also did not have hot water, and offer us a third room, we decided to stay in the original room. We wasted a lot of time packing/unpacking, moving between rooms. Eventually one staffer admitted the property had poor hot water circulation in some areas and that the "property was not built as a hotel". The maddening part of all this is the reluctance of the management to admit to what is a known issue, and to offer us a free breakfast as compensation for a $1000 stay. The staff are highly trained to be polite, engaging and outwardly helpful, but are totally unequipped to deal with a real problem that is not easily fixed or papered over.

The food served, the drinks from the bartenders, and the overall classy and timeless feeling the Austin Club gave made for a beautiful reception full of joy. For dinner we were served a Chicken Piccata with Brussels Sprouts and Mashed Potatoes that was top notch. I haven't had a regular meal here, but the Austin Club was a great event space as a guest, and I had a great time at the venue. RIYL: Class in the heart of Austin

Everything tasted fabulous. Others had stuffed chicken or sea bass. I got to try the sea bass; it was delicious as well. Props to our waiter George! Top notch. Each dish had a fresh orchid on it, which I collected most of to take home. I snuck away from the dinner party to look around. Now, what I discovered. The blue ceiling mural has a face of one of the local opera singers back in the day; Priscilla. In the video you'll hear the story told by Alex (the asst mgr) who was kind enough to show me the upstairs and tell me about Ms Priscilla. Great food, great svc, lovely historical bldg. Based on an invitation from a Yelp friend, I ended up at Pershing Hall again for Motown Mondays…read more On December 22nd, Pershing Hall not only featured Motown Mondays, but also their Yule Groove and Holiday Market. The Matchmaker Band was belting some soulful songs while guests danced the night away. In addition, local vendors were selling their wares from jewelry and fur coats to books and winterwear, i.e. Spider Goddess Divination, LA LO LA Clothing, and Thunderhouse Media Group. Guests consumed holiday cocktails, competed at Pershing Hall's Ugly Sweater Social, and shopped at the Holiday Pop-Up Market with local vendors. Saint Nic aka Santa was milling about for photos along with his naughty elves. This event was free to the public along with free parking (normal entry fee is $5 for ladies). Doors and market opened at 5 PM, social from 6:30-8:30 PM, and Matchmaker Band began singing and playing at 8:30 PM. It is always fun dancing at Motown Mondays. In full transparency, I enjoyed the band more the last time we were at Motown Mondays. However, I am sure I will return.

The decor is festive and you can reserve seats and tables if you want a guaranteed spot to sit. I enjoyed the themed cocktails and the sound is pretty good here. Bartenders were very friendly and quick, it's all around a great venue!

There is not a lot to say about this program. I have tried to use it for networking, but the fact…read moreof the matter is that every networking event will require you to either purchase a ticket or drinks (or both). There is not a lot of real networking done. The most correspondence I get from them is either them asking me for me money or them asking me to attend an event and pay money. I guess the only real benefit is the ability to use UT libraries, but I can already use the Austin Public library which is already fantastic. I feel bad because my mom paid money for this thinking it would provide a lot of networking opportunities for me, but ultimately I think we were just scammed. It's a shame that they are using predatory practices to target good parents who just want to set their kids up for success. To parents still reading this, please consider just giving your child the cash amount for the alumni membership. As a recent grad, it would have helped immensely compared to the "support" and "resources" offered by Texas exes.

Fans have the option of watching any of one hundred (it seemed like that many but really probably a dozen) big screen or mid-screen televisions and just skip the stadium. Especially if it's raining! Belly up to one of the numerous bars for a Bloody Mary, beer or glass of wine.
