Food was great. I enjoyed the fast service and consistent food quality. I did not eat at the restaurant but the atmosphere seemed nice.

I've only every ordered takeout from Biryani Pot so I cannot speak to the dine in experience but what I can say, is the food is bomb! I have tried a variety of their vegetarian items and have fallen in love with all of them (malai kofta and methi paneer being some of my all time favorites). The price is a great and I can easily split my entree into two meals. I do wish they had some chaat on the menu but that is just my North Indian roots talking. I've also noticed that their online ordering system doesn't allow for spice modifications. In my house, everything is spicy so it's slightly frustrating that it can't be adjusted to make it spicier but we enjoy it as is as well. read more

Stopped by for lunch and ordered the lunch special. Plenty of food that tastes delicious. I'm ok with spicy so I usually get a little more spicy then medium. The food comes quickly so the wait is not long. When you sit down they present you with a bottle of water and a chip as an appetizer. The place has several tvs playing Indian drama and music. Not sure what changed but the restaurant has been updated since our last visit. The inside decor has been updated and overall the restaurant is much cleaner. The food also tastes much better, back to what it was after they lost their way somewhere in the middle. Chicken combo Thali included various chicken entrees, biryani and mushroom fritters with dal and naan. Everything was fresh and tasty. I had the masala dosa and it was great! They aren't great with gluten free. The server asked me if all-purpose flour was gluten free, so if you are sensitive to gluten, just a heads up. I live by Plano. I accidentally ordered $50 worth of dinner from the Briyani Pot Austin. When my wife went to Plano restaurant to pick up the food, we realized the mistake. I called Austin restaurant and shared my mistake. The young man who may call said he will have to speak to his manager and get back in a couple hrs. He called a couple hrs later to say they will refund my money although they had made the food I had order. I went to Biryani Pot today to experience some Indian food in Austin, TX. The restaurant inside is fine, seems a little basic but clean. Water immediately came out as I sat down and a large cracker (sorry don't know the name). My problem with my overall experience is I have no idea what I received to eat. Everything for the most part was good, but no idea what it was! This was even after asking a few times. There could have been a language barrier I'm not sure. We were evaluating Biryani Pot for a catering event. I spoke with them on the phone and placed a take out order. We had: - 2 biryanis (the lamb fry biryani being my favorite) - Lamb tikka masala and butter chicken. Both excellent and quite similar. The butter chicken sauce was a little more sweet and luxurious and the tikka masala sauce was more complex. Both excellent. I love that you can pretty much get any sauce with any protein or vegetarian option you like! - chicken majestic and chicken 65 appetizers. They were both good but the majestic was my favorite. - chilli fish appetizer was enjoyed by all - malai kofta was good. I wouldn't order it again but if you like malai kofta it was a solid version of it. (We ordered it needing a mild dish) - naan was your average naan. We ordered everything regular medium spice and the "wimps" in our family thought it was too spicy. If you don't like heat get it mild. Their food is on the spicier side but delicious! We were having some friends over and decided to do dinner! We chose this location because it had options for family sized biriyani. We got the paneer, veggie and chicken biriyani. We also got the samosas and a gobi cauliflower appetizer. Everyone loved the food! The paneer biriyani was my favorite! The portion sizes were perfect for a party. There were ample veggie options here. Also the service was nice as well. They do check your ID as they said that they have been scammed before which is sad. I don't know why someone would do that to a small business. I will definitely come here again especially on the days I dont want to cook food but want good Indian biriyani! read more

Lackluster biryani, hair in food, watery raita and flavorless mirchi ka salan. We got the chicken biryani and the vegetable biryani, and for a place called biryani pot, these were super disappointing. Portion sizes were the only pro but it definitely had no flavor, not a Hyderabadi biryani flavor or even a regular biryani flavor so we didn't even end up finishing our food. The usual accompaniments for these biryanis are the raita and mirchi ka salan which usually add to the flavor but these were unsatisfying. The salan had no taste at all and the raita was more water than yogurt as you can see in the pictures below. Worst of all, there was a hair in my raita! I've attached photos for that as well. This place was recommended to me by an Indian national (thanks Ramesh!) that lives not too far away. It's a pretty sterile environment inside. Definitely not a date night place. Tile floor and stainless steel walls. But we were there for lunch, so not a problem! Menu is large, and they have lunch specials - but not on weekends - so we just grabbed some potato/cauliflower and chickpea dishes. Both came with well cooked rice, and were spicy and delicious! They seem to do a big take out business, and we can see why. Great food, with good portion sizes. We'll be back for more! read more

Biryani Pot used to be our go to place for Indian food delivery. My husband used to really enjoy their goat fry biryani and I used to absolutely love their malai kofta. Sadly there's been a noticeable difference in food quality and taste over the past several months. The food here is delicious. I love their garlic basil naan, very buttery. I got the hariyali chicken kebab. The flavor was slightly creamy and the chicken was soft. It didn't come with rice. I also got the Hyderabadi murg masala. It was spicy and went really well with rice. I recommended this if you like a lil bit of a kick. I ordered the paneer tikka masala which was so delicious!! I was not disappointed at all. It wasn't too spicy (makes sense since I got the tikka masala) and there was a decent amount of paneer in the dish. One of my friends ordered the fish curry and I got to try some and that was probably my favorite. And of course, the biryani was awesome. Hadn't been here in awhile and wanted to try the goat Dum Biryani again. This meal was different from the other time we were here. So was our experience. I don't like "scan your own menu" restaurants. It's not that I'm anti tech, my whole career was in tech. But, when you can't get a good signal or the menu layout on a 6" screen just doesn't cut it, well, it makes it more difficult to enjoy perusing through the menu. Also, if you're gonna put your menu "online" put some pictures next to the menu items! Go in whole hog! So I ordered the Goat Dum Biryani, which was good. The rice was nice and aromatic but my chief complaint for a $16 meal is that the goat consisted of 90% bone and maybe 10% actual meat. There wasn't a lot of "goat" in the dish, unfortunately, so my meal consisted of mainly rice and a few minor pieces of goat meat. So, this time, it wasn't the best experience and next time I'm in the mood, I'm going to try to find another Biryani place to see how they measure up. read more

Authentic and spicy Indian food! Went there (after a few years) and the place is much better now. They have renovated the interior and it looks nicer. The menu is pretty much the same. As a Yelper, I do tend to trust my fellow Yelper's reviews of establishments to save me time and money. With only a 3.5 rating, I looked away from Biryani Pot for a year and a half. One day while out on an evening walk, Biryani Pot was the only accessible restaurant open as late as my husband and I were out strolling (around 9:45pm). We decided, why not give it a try? It's the only place open right now, and we're hungry and right here. Well, I am happy to report that I wish that this had happened sooner. I go to the big H-E-B right next door multiple times per week, yet I never bothered to take a look at this humble Indian restaurant. The interior is humble. The restaurant does not try to win you over with a certain "mood" or "vibe." It is just very simplistic. Bright lighting; basic chairs, no music playing. The thing is, Biryani Pot doesn't need to dazzle you with appearances. They get right what is most important: the food and the dedicated service. Do yourself a favor and stop by with a friend or two and order a fair sampling of the menu. I'd recommend a samosa, a chicken tikka grill, a shrimp Biryani, and a naan. Just writing this makes me hungry for the incredible aromas and flavors this restaurant offers in every dish. It will be a wonderful journey for your taste buds and soul! read more

We hired Biryani pot to cater 2 large events (150+ people) for us, and both times they were phenomenal. We had one "dosa and samosa" event where they made the dosas fresh, and one that had traditional food such as biryani, and at both events the guests were raving about the food. Highly recommend them as caters for any large events. read more

Have been here couple of times, but after my yesterday's visit I can definitely say that the quality & taste has gone down. he..he.. my table had a big chopping board on it :P. The glass was broken I guess, so they put a large white board(sort of chopping board over the table-cloth). Randomly,3 different people came to take our order. There was no co-ordination or proper management. We ordered some appetizers- fried corn kernels & chili fried potatoes.Corn is 1 dish we always order here, but it lacked basic taste, was super oily. Could only feel oil in the mouth. Chili potato was good. We had ordered bagara baigan, dum biryani and some naan for entree. The Bagara baighan never came. The naan was not at all fluffy and felt was cooked before hand. I could just feel garam -masala(spice) while having biryani. Did hardly have any veggies or the spice-mix. All the food lacked the basic taste. Service has never been good at this place.After the order was taken, no one ever came to check on us or refill the glasses. read more

Was excited to try out a new place so we ended up ordering a ton of food. Almost all items lacked spice, it was watered down but it did have some flavor. I think they can fix that. We ended up adding Siracha. I wish they at least gave an option to make it spicier. However, in the biriyani we discovered a piece of metal. My friend spit it out, glad she did not ingest it. I called the restaurant right away and told them about this. All he said was I am sorry, don't know how it made it into the food. I offered to send him a picture of the metal so he could figure out where it came from, he didn't really care. We tossed out that food. He said he would refund but never did. When a restaurant's priority is making $ and not worried about quality or safety you have to wonder what is going on in the kitchen. I would not recommend this place to anyone. This place is really good! Went for first time last night after high school graduation. Was just four of us but place was packed so it took around 30 min to get seated. I knew this was going to be good when I saw it was packed with all sorts of folks from India. Took awhile to get food but everyone was friendly and service good. We shared several dishes including Tandori Chicken (best I have had. Not dry, great sauce on bed of spicy veggies), Palak Paneer (very good though thinner than we would like), another Paneer starting with a K that's really good), and perhaps my favorite was the Goat Vindaloo ( spicy, creamy, yum). Definitely get the basil garlic Naan as well. We would have liked a beer but no alchohol served here (not sure if they plan to or if it's a religious or other reason). However, that meant our bill was under $60 and we were stuffed and took leftovers. If you want great Indian food from the Hyderabad region (Google it), you will not be disappointed! read more
