Today was a good day why because I had the best premium service by Austin automotive specialist. Today I had the engine light diagnosis analysis which is the initial diagnosis testing inspection of the specific system as required. Also I had the fuel system general service which was to replace secondary injection pump relay. Yes I know most of you have always asked me why do you keep your car because I love my car and I will keep it I can buy a new one but I don't want to. I trust these mechanics and I trust the fact that Chris Dunaway is a premium expert and why I bring it here I don't trust anyone else like I said in my previous reviews. They will explain everything to you and why you need to have certain labor done to your vehicle if I took it to the dealership I know I would be spending thousands but because they're reasonable in their fees and as you know I don't like spending that much money but to maintain it on a Mercedes Benz I've been very blessed knowing this group. And yes they make a big difference to me saving money for a retiree as myself. And when I call and even send emails they always answer and return my calls. You won't believe this one - my Subaru Outback was losing power, to the point of stalling in the middle of the road. All kinds of annunciator lights in front of me, including (of course) the Check Engine light. I was figuring on a brutally expensive fix, but it had to be done, so... I took the car in to AAS and got a call a couple hours later: "Your car's ready." I was surprised, because I expected them to get me to agree to the cost of this expensive repair. When I got there, they charged me the cost of the diagnostic. That's it. Why? Because it was a BUG that got stuck in my mass air flow sensor. A Bug! Anyway, this is the second time these guys could have easily taken me for a ride and charged me WAY more than they did. They are honest, trustworthy and really good at their job. I have found the kind of integrity I'm looking for in a car repair service shop. At different times I brought both of my vehicles to Austin's Automotive Specialists (AAS) in Lakeway. Both times I thought there were various things that needed to be repaired or serviced, and both times AAS fixed only what need fixing - saving me hundreds of dollars. They could have easily done more and charged more and I would have not known any better. In contrast - I have NEVER taken my vehicle to a car dealership and had them come in with lower repair bill than I expected - dealerships always find more to fix than you ever knew needed fixing. After nagging my husband (yeah, I do that occasionally...okay a lot) for the last 6 months about his squeaky breaks (well, his truck's squeaky brakes) he finnnnaaallly took it into Brake Specialists Total Car Care. As suspected, his procrastination had caused more damage than brake pad replacement alone. The technician performed a thorough inspection (at no cost) and called my husband with the news. He offered two options: 1.) A complete rebuild on one side, and repair on the other (approx. $850) or 2.) A repair that would be adequate for about 30,000 miles (approx. $350). We've been vehicle shopping for about a year now, so we went with the "quick" fix. So, many thanks to BSTCC for saving us 500 bucks when you could have easily not offered us a less expensive alternative!!! What a pleasant surprise to have found an honest and knowledgeable auto repair center - and so close to home! HIGHLY RECOMMEND Tip: Visit their website! I wish I could leave a zero star review. Doug at the counter was polite enough, and a lot of this was beyond his control, but . . . I went in to get an oil change and a state inspection. Computer for the state inspection was down. When will it be fixed? More than week. So, oil change and a couple of other things. I'm already here; I'll get the inspection another time. How bad could it be? I was the only customer, and I was there for four hours. One of the mechanics left a dark stain on my upholstery from his grease-soaked beanie. Another technician doused the stain in a chemical and tried to rub it out. He ended up pushing the stain in deeper and leaving the upholstery frayed from the abrasion. They then directed me to the place next door (Whitaker's Auto Body & Paint, whom I can't imagine would be nearly as useless as AAS). But due to the ineptitude of the AAS, I was told that stain wasn't coming out. Doug called me later (again, props to the guy, but I'm still waiting on a solution). Leaving for the third time, I got a low tire pressure warning (they had rotated my tires). They were completely unable to figure out what was wrong. My tires were fine, they said, it must be an equipment malfunction. No, the fix was pressing a very visible button (they directed me to Discount Tire for this, and I kind of felt like an idiot because it was rather obvious, but I'm not a professional). So, yeah. I got there in the morning to get everything done in maybe two hours. It took all day, and I still don't have resolution for everything. The technicians are not good at their jobs, and probably used to this sort of thing, Doug sent me to all other places to try to put out the metaphorical fires his mechanics had started. Just returned from Austin's Automotive Specialists in Lakeway. We used to take our cars there all the time when it was under Adam's management. After he left in 2018, things changed (not for the better), so we stopped going there. Well, the current manager, Chris, runs the place like Adam did...customer friendly, honest, no overselling. Pricing for a spark plug replacement that required the removal of the manifold was better than fair, and less than half of another area mechanic. When I picked up my auto I noticed the back window that had been stuck for weeks rolled down/open, was now rolled - up nice and tight. They noticed this and fixed this at no charge.
