A mess is all I can say. I've been here a few times and service is terrible every single time. Bartenders are slow and unfriendly. I'm guessing the changeover at management is a constant. I've also done curbside a few toned and again, what a mess. If I order online, it means I want to pick up my food be done. I paid online, tipped online but every time, someone comes out wanting me to sign for my order. I'm sorry, that's why I paid online. And of course the thing you sign has a place for a tip (I did that online). Meanwhile after I've signed, my to go order is still sitting inside and no longer warm. Today's order I parked, texted my name and parking spot #. A girl comes out says name on the order, I said I've already texted it. She then comes out, I have to sign, she goes in and brings out my order. I leave and make it about 1/2 way home when I get a call, she says they gave me the wrong order. Are you kidding? I moved to Gardner just over 1 year ago and have been a customer of Austin's MANY times over this last year and when I went there on 2-28 at 6:30pm I had to wait more than 5 minutes for a table, even though there were MANY open tables available! When I got seated the waitress came by in a few minutes and took my order and then she DISAPPEARED until I was completely done with my meal!! Another waiter filled my tea cup up, when he noticed it was completely empty..... When my waitress came to take my empty plate from my table, I asked her why she had disappeared and she told me she was busy in the back waiting on a group of 15...... she then left and came back with my bill, she DID NOT ask if I wanted anything else, just dropped off my bill and left AGAIN!!!!! I had to take the bill to the manager to pay and told the manager my issue, she acted like she didn't care either....... Worst service in town! My friend and I sat on patio Sunday 6pm just wanted a glass of wine. One other table had a family being served but because we were on the other side of the patio she couldn't serve us. Mind you there are only 2 tables per side and 1 in middle lol . We went inside where a group of servers were congregating and asked nicely (at this point) for our server to come take our order. Waited another 10 mins and nobody came out. The other server came out ( 2nd time we saw her) and checked on her table and as she ignored us and walked away I raised my voice asking can we have some service please? She walked back to the patio and said she would send our server out. Another 10 mins and we got up and left! Plenty of space and lots of tvs to watch a game. Food is average at best. Service is quick and friendly. Plenty of parking. Beer menu is mainly domestic. Went for happy hour and Monday half of burgers with a drink. We ordered fried mushrooms, two burgers and two beers. Got charged the regular fee for mushrooms. Austin's is a pretty neat restaurant/bar with a ton of TV's to watch sporting events and games to play. Our server was great. Super friendly and always made sure our group had what we needed. The manager even came by to chat us up and to see if there was anything she could do for our table. I got the beef sliders which were cooked to perfectly! The sliders had plenty of flavor! I really enjoyed them putting lettuce and pickles on the side. I also got the chicken fingers and Parmesan fries. The chicken fingers were covered in a spicy seasoning which was awesome! Chicken was cooked perfectly as well. The chicken was moist and crispy all at the same time. Mixing them with ranch and buffalo sauce was a slam dunk! Traveling on business and initially avoided this place the night before for dinner due to its overall average rating here. But as there are few options, decided to give it a try for lunch today. As I am already tired of junk eating, i was pleased to see they had some cleaner menu items. I ordered the Maui Chicken which came with broccoli and wild rice while my associate had the Mile High Club. Our service was fast and friendly. My food was delicious. They have everything a sports bar should have - plenty of TVs, a spacious bar, background music, daily food specials, daily drink specials, a happy hour, a patio, a game room, a nice atmosphere, and good service. My pulled pork sandwich with baked beans, slaw, and choice of fries (including sweet potato fries with no up-charge) was served in 12 minutes, and was a great deal at $8 (Sunday lunch special). The portion sizes were generous (too generous on the fries), and the pulled pork was moist and tasty with very good beans. The service was attentive, a manager stopped by to make sure everything was okay, and an employee was making sure everything in the dining area and game room was spotless. Our family used to eat here regularly. Some of the staff's service is great. Some not so much, but we don't have a ton of options when we're eating in Gardner. It was my niece's birthday, so I took her out to dinner at Austin's. We were sitting at our table looking at the menus. I noticed one of the younger staff members walking from behind the bar (who was walking toward our table, so I assumed he was coming to our table) come take a seat at the table directly behind us. Within about 2 minutes someone at that same table (now totaling 3 young men since the staff member had joined them) started repeatedly using racial slurs. The first time I was shocked and thought maybe I misheard. But they then intentionally, repeatedly said the N word, louder and with way more emphasis, than the other words they were speaking prior to and after the N word. It was clear that they wanted the word to be heard. My niece was looking down and I was looking around for someone who worked there to ask for a manager. My niece looked up with tears rolling down her face. I asked her why she was crying and she told me that she was sorry because if she wasn't there, this wouldn't be happening! I told her it absolutely was not because of her and let her know that I was looking for someone to get a manager. She asked me if this had ever happened when I'd came here before (It hadn't but I didn't think sharing that info with her in that moment would exactly help anything.) She wiped her tears and told me she just wanted to go home. She said that she appreciated everything and for me taking her out but said that she just wanted to leave and that we could just do something for her birthday next year. She said she didn't want me to waste my money buying her food because she wouldn't feel comfortable eating it. By this time, I had witnessed the guy who worked there, that had been seated behind us, go in and out of the kitchen, behind the bar, and back out on the floor multiple times. My niece is so beautiful and biracial, an honor roll student, and the daughter of 2 parents who have both served on the front lines for our country. However, my niece is also my sister and her husband's only child. She also has a rare disease that other is no cure for, which makes her birthday memories that much more important, meaningful, and special to all of us. My niece was scared to even eat the food. I asked the waitress if I could talk to the manager and she very rudely asked me what it was concerning.I told her that it was fine, we were just going to go. We have another child in our family with this disease, who's already on hospice, that's only a year older than my niece. We don't know how many birthdays we have left. Every time we come into town we eat at this location. Consistent great service and the food is outstanding. The Spicy Kirk Chicken sandwich is our fav!!! So good with the western fries. Tonight we clearly overwhelmed the staff with an impromptu dinner with a ton of friends (we suggested this location because the food is sooo good) and instead of turning all of us away they accommodated us in the large room in the back. Grace and Sarah were so organized and very personable and probably some of the best wait staff I've ever seen with such a large group. This time when the lady brought the order out to my car I got a full lecture on how they do not substitute one of there sauces for the pretzel. You get 3 sauces with the pretzel. I simply asked to sub one that is horrible for 2 of one of the others. This lady gives me a full speech on how they do not do that but they did this time. It was quite ridiculous and rude! When it does finally get to you it has clearly be sitting for a while and is absolutely disgusting. You might se your server 3 times total if you are lucky even though there is 5 customers total in the whole place and overall it's not very welcoming. The Austin's on 151st will be the only one I go to as they constantly show that even if they are slammed, they will provide you the best service. I called this restaurant at about 5:50-6pm wanting to place a carry out. I told the host I wouldn't be in the area until about 6:45 and she said the food only takes 30 minutes to be prepared and she recommended I call back closer to time to place the order so the food wouldn't be just sitting (I don't mind heating food back up but i'll take her advice). I call back at 6:20pm and tell the same girl I would like to place carry out, she says "sorry we aren't taking carry out orders right now because it's too busy." One of the BEST steaks I've ever had; and I've been to most fancy restaurants. $18 you get a steak cooked to absolute PERFECTION and 2 sides. $3 well drinks, double for $6... ok! So, the food here is really good. If nothing else, the food and atmosphere are good. Nothing fancy. Clean. Not loud (at least at lunch time when I was there). I had the Alaskan Joe (salmon) sandwich. It was delicious, and so was the side salad. The kids liked their cheese pizzas and my wife enjoyed the chicken Cesar salad. I would go back for the food. The service was kind of poor. We counted 5 or 6 (at least) folks wandering around. And it took forever to get anything. When I paid my tab I had to borrow a pen from another customer behind me. Service was not rude at all. First, let me say I do enjoy the food here, which is helping with a star. I have been using their to go app for a little while now and one of my favorite items is their full size order of mac and cheese with seasoned ground beef. I had a streak of about 3 times in a row, however, that they gave me a side order sized mac and cheese. Each time, I called back and they offered to make it right. That's great, but it did mean waiting for 20+ more minutes while the rest of our food is getting cold. Last time, I had an idea, and in the "special instructions" area, I added "friendly reminder that this is a full sized order." That seemed to work, no issues with that order. Tonight, however, I did it again, same comment, and once again, side order size. I didn't even bother calling back this time, because I really didn't want everything else getting cold. Austin's please, figure out some way to differentiate between the side order and full size orders. You'd think the inclusion of ground beef would be enough, since the side order does not come with any options, but even that seems to have failed. You know what's great about this place? They have a small game room with 7 TVs, multiple games to keep my toddler entertained, and seating for about 20 people. You know what sucks about this place? The hostess or assistant manager that won't let us sit in the empty game room even though I offered to run my own food & drinks from the bar. Instead, my husband and our guest visiting from Austin, TX are seated in the dining area and I am in the game room with our toddler. Thanks for not allowing us to be able to enjoy an evening out. The service was good at the bar and the burger was prepared as ordered -medium. In fact, medium describes the whole experience.
